I went to change my password after receiving emails suggesting that someone from China was accessing my account.
Requiring a completely unique password seems like a ridiculous requirement, and I almost gave up after multiple failed attempts to change it.
There’s no way I’m actually going to be able to remember the password, so I’ll probably end up having to have a password reset done and go through this process again the next time I want to log in.
I understand that you’re trying to protect users, and I appreciate that, but this seems like overdoing it.
I’m sure you’ll be able to choose a password that works just fine for you. The requirements are reasonable and flexible. Get the reset and then choose something that works for you.

IP blocking isn’t the answer. Most botters use, or know how to use, proxies. The guy who is botting from Beijing may appear to be playing from Boston or Berlin.
So no, that is not a viable suggestion.
And FYI — we don’t make money on the bots. They use stolen credit cards that end up costing us money, not increasing our revenues.
Lawsuits are not the answer, either.

As others have mentioned, we set up the Trading Post to help greatly reduce trade scams. Please use that system in the future, because we do not have the capacity to replace your missing items and, even if we develop item replacement, it almost certainly will not be used in cases such as these.

What was the current objective?
Hi Taryn – This error looks like it’s due to the fact that you’re trying to install from the temp directory. The easiest way to resolve this issue is to pull Gw2.exe out of the temp drive and onto the C drive by following the below steps:
1. Hold down the Windows button on the keyboard and hit the R key.
2. Paste in the following line “Temp” (without the quotes) and then click OK.
3. Find Gw2.exe and right-click on the file and select Cut
4. Go to your C drive and into the Games folder. If there is no Games folder, create one.
5. In the Games folder, create the folder Guild Wars 2 and go into it.
6. In the Guild Wars 2 folder, right-click and select Paste.
7. Run Gw2.exe from the Guild Wars 2 folder.
The game should launch and immediately start patching. Two additional files should be created: Gw2.dat and Gw2.tmp
You should contact Support by filing a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page. They will be able to assist you with this issues, but it’s unlikely that going AFK for a few minutes would ever result in an account termination and certainly an examination of the records would cause a prompt reversal if that was the case.

Can't create Buy Order from trading post

Hi Ike – Do you have any security software currently enabled? Sometimes security software can cause issues such as this with the Trading Post.
Something is stirring in the Sea of Sorrows – and we want to make sure that you are not missing out, so here is a schedule (without spoilers) for you, so you can plan ahead:
- On Friday November 16th at noon PST (20:00 GMT) the weekend will kick off with an Event in Lion’s Arch that you don’t want to miss. This will trigger events in other parts of Tyria as well.
*On Saturday November 17th at noon PST (20:00 GMT), another phase will kick in.
Each phase is triggered by a special event, but you will be able to enjoy additional content afterwards even if you cannot make the kick-off time. There is one exception:
The event will culminate in a big Finale on Sunday November 18, make sure you will not miss it. This will be a onetime only event chain that will run multiple hours, and it will kick off at noon PST (20:00 GMT). Again, this will only run once, so make sure you will be there! There will be plenty of content available to enjoy that will remain permanently in the world as a result of the outcome of this event on Sunday.
We will give you more details once we get closer to the event, but wanted to give you an early heads up so you can plan accordingly.

The currency exchange is not a lottery system, it is exactly what its name says it is.
Even if it were, the answer to your question would be no, because one entails personal/risk reward while the other requires you to account for the damage to this game and gaming in general which will fail an objective cost benefit 100% of the time.

We understand your frustration over this issue: not being able to continue with your story isn’t fun, especially as it’s a major feature of the game. While this issue is ongoing, there are a lot of questions in this thread, and I’d like to provide some updates and explain some of what’s going on behind the scenes.
When will this be fixed?
A fix for this issue will be coming soon; however, we do not have a specific ETA. I noticed there are some posts referencing the 5th as a fix date, but as far as I know, this is not accurate.
Why isn’t this being fixed now?
There are multiple reasons as to why we don’t immediately issues. One thing to keep in mind is that at any point during the day there are at least hundreds of thousands of people playing the game and not all of them are encountering the same issue. While we would love to fix issues as they come up, every build we run disrupts everyone’s game time. If you participated in any of our pre-launch stress tests where we constantly patched the game, you’ll remember how difficult it was to do things like complete dungeons, etc.
Whenever we patch the game, we also want to do our best to ensure that the content is stable; even small changes have the potential to affect other game systems and potentially cause larger issues, such as crashes, disconnects, and/or more broken content. By testing new content and changes for longer periods of time, we have more chances to find issues that could disrupt gameplay and cause these larger issues.
My story is blocked. What am I supposed to do now?
While we are working towards integrating this fix, we highly encourage you to try out other parts of the game. Have you tried playing sPvP? Jump to the mists and hop into a game. Check out WvW, or try your hand at crafting. If you’re hooked on story, create a new character and try a different story line; there are so many story paths you can take!
There are a lot of different parts to this game and a little something for everyone. While not everything is perfect, we’re constantly working to make it better.

Roughly you can think of deviation as a measure of the margin of error and volatility as a measure of the system’s confidence in the assigned rating (lower volatility => more confidence). That’s a massive oversimplification though, so please check out the Glicko web site for the real details.

For me it is simple change how to get a precusor or legendary. That now is one of the biggest sinks and Anet chooses to enable to gold sellers. So until that demand is satiated dont expect the botters to go away. Since they offer at a reasonable rate compared to anet they will always have a steady supply of customers.
TLDR: Anet keeps enabling gold selling by precusors the biggest $ sink right now.
I think you may be a bit confused, nothing here is true. Try to think of the game a whole for all players.
As a note, Karma is not technically a currency and cannot be compared to Gold.

There is no way for you or for me to change the price of gems, they are exclusively decided by Anet.
False. Anyone watching the exchange rate relative to the the many factors that induce supply or demand will see an extremely simple pattern that shows that the price of Gems and Gold is in fact controlled by player demand and is pretty volatile as one might expect from a system.
I’d also encourage everyone to read my previous post about the damage of goldsellers.

What’s your current objective? Who is “the last boss”? What do you mean by “freezes”, do you mean an actual game lockup, or the story step appears to stall out?

Yes. The story mode of the dungeon and the story STEP where you run through it are seperate.
What was your current objective? Were any incompete objectives listed?
We’re in the process of reworking our loot for dungeons. Expect it soon!
I don’t imagine we’re going to put tokens back in chests, and if we do, it won’t be at the volume they once were. What we saw when that was happening, is that people would just farm the first chest or two in a chain and then leave/re-run it, instead of playing through the whole dungeon.
