I too, like the OP, received the spam version earlier tonight (I also received the legit one when it was first sent out, as well). Is there an e-mail address that we can forward the spam e-mails to, similar to how other places allow users to report spam e-mail being “sent” from them?
I believe we’ve established that the emails received today were legitimate, and not spam or phishing attempts.

I changed my password BEFORE this “blacklist” thing to a very strong one, now I am getting the “change password” message even when I don’t have ANY plan of changing my password again. I suppose/hope the message will be removed someday.
I also changed my password to a very strong one before the blacklist went into effect, as mentioned above; I’m considering adding an extra word or two, just to make the message go away…
I think that’s a great idea because it accomplishes two things: Stops the reminder messages and, more importantly, increases your account security.

Norn have many skilled blacksmiths, so I’m guessing they arm and armor many of the foot soldiers. The sylvari also make up the most renowned special operations unit in the Pact, the Pale Reavers. Since they cannot be corrupted by Zhaitan, they’re used for many dangerous missions in Orr.

Same thing that Rob said about dungeon loot is also true in open world. I recently started looking at this and its literally such a bad chance of getting good loot from those big world bosses. Champions as well, the numbers are just too low. The Halloween patch is just too close to put this in and test it, but we are also working on improving this.

Because you seem to be the one keeping a close eye on this thread I would like to ask you a specific question. Earlier I had issues buying gems on the gem store. To make a long story short I was eventually able to purchase them for a short 24 hour time ( as per a e-mail from you guys)“Although there is something about your transaction that is being flagged by our system, we have authorized your e-mail address to complete transactions for the next 24 hours.”
So now my question is basically, does this still stand?!?!? Can I purchase gems now? Or am I still flagged???

We don’t always know why someone is “flagged” but we are happy to work with that person to make it possible to purchase gems. Just update your ticket (or start a new one if you have lost track of the old one) to ask for another 24-hour authorization.
We are sorry that this measure is necessary for some people, but we’ll do our best to address the matter quickly and appreciate everyone’s understanding (not to mention support of the game
).

We are asking people to consider changing their passwords not because we were hacked or because there’s been a security incident, but because changing passwords is a good way to foil would-be thieves overall. If you read Mike O’Brien’s article (linked above) I think you’ll understand why doing the change is in your best interests.

First off, good luck to everyone on the new matches, and congratulations to Kaineng on their first win!
Some have asked for an update regarding WvW, and what work is being done on it. As previously mentioned, our biggest goal currently is to find resolutions to the culling issues people are having and ensuring that everyone that wants to play WvW can play WvW, without having to wait in queue for a substantial amount of time. We have remained cautiously silent on what work is being done, as we do not want to say we are doing something, and for whatever reason have to cancel those plans.
Without saying too much, I can say we are making progress on culling. As some of you may have seen Habib has been working nonstop to ensure you have a great epic experience in WvW, while also giving you details on how some of the ‘behind the scenes’ systems work.
We are also looking at ways to better support players that are getting shut down on maps. Again this is something very new, so we are not able to say anything on how this will work. However, the goal is to make players able to leave the spawn areas with ease, as well as provide assistance on capturing objectives when you are being completely shut down on a map.
These are just a few things that we are actively pursuing. We are constantly reviewing the state of WvW. If you see a lack of developer presence on the forums, it is simply due to us working on making WvW an even better experience then it is now.

Hey guys, first off thanks Anet for your continued effort and dedication to improving the game. I’ve got 500hrs + on my account and I’m still finding it a pleasure to play each time I log on. Also thanks my fellow players that have made this one of the best MMO communities I’ve been with thus far <3.
The Trading Post: recent trends with popular, fast moving items suggest they are losing value and fast. Despite the nerfs to things such as karma commodities, Orichalcum nodes, etc, the supply (according to gw2 spidy) always seem to find a way to tank and prices go through the floor.
As a farmer, a TP enthusiastic, and an honest gamer trying to grind out a little personal profit, I find this pattern with prices discouraging. We are a little over week 7 of gw2, and it ‘seems’ that the volume of stuff hitting the TP is far greater than the demand. Does this suggest that there’s just now a whole bunch of 80lv players competing for sales? If so, I fear for what the economy will look like in the next few months. Perhaps there’s just not enough sources for players to burn these materials? Between PVP gear, dungeon gear, and drops perhaps highly valued commodities aren’t as needed as they should be.
There are so many variables. Us players don’t have the figures, but Anet you do. I’m not asking for insider info so I can make a quick buck off TP in the next 5 minutes.
My request: could you kindly provide some thoughts on the current state of the economy. How do you feel about the trends? Is there hope for us blue-collar farmers? Are there any changes that you ‘can’ comment on planned for the future, that will positively influence prices and the economy?Thanks for reading! Looking forward to your thoughts.
I don’t have any specifics to give you unfortunately. What I will say is that we pay a lot of attention to the economy. It is vastly complex and so changes made have to be gentle and precise. This means there is a lag between recognizing problems and finding the exact solution that meets the problem and the exact intensity of the solution, because we don’t want to take shots in the dark. The economy is still stabilizing, but we are paying attention to patterns that aren’t positive and taking steps to correct the issues. In the next few month I would continue to expect an evolving game (and maybe some specific data eventually).

I don’t have an official response to state, but I will say you should be careful of making assumptions that aren’t necessarily true.

For human characters, Beirne is the very first NPC they meet. So, granted, he doesn’t mean anything to other species, but we didn’t pull him out of thin air just to kill him for this step. : )
Hey guys, just keep in mind that we haven’t revealed everything yet. You’ll just have to make sure you show up for the various phases to see what’s available.
This is our intent.
Story Mode – Moderate difficulty for a randomly formed pick up group. Memorable moments of achievement and accomplishment when you and a group of strangers overcome a difficult encounter/boss.
Explorable Mode – Moderate difficulty for extremely organized and well versed players. Randomly formed pick up groups should find this content very difficult. Memorable moments of accomplishment and achievement when you defeat an exceptionally difficult boss/encounter.
It’s a tricky issue. Players have a number of tools to break story sequences, intentionally or otherwise. They can break out of stun/immobilize, they can push/pull NPCs, try to drop obstacles in the way of NPCs, et al. Going to a cutscene is heavy handed, yes, but it’s the “safest” way to deal with certain sequences. We don’t have the resources to account for all possibe outcomes (like doing 2 totally seperate story chains based on whether an NPC lives or dies).
His trick is actually really simple.
He does a close frost, and a far frost. He alternates between them.
Watch out for the turrets
Which is the more likely scenario?:
a) ANet, with millions of accounts, has been compromised – but less than .001% of those millions of accounts have someone attempting to access them. And despite a multitude of laws that would severely penalize them if they tried to cover up a compromise, they are falsely pleading innocence.
b) Some random user hasn’t been smart about his/her account security and opened the door wide for nefarious individuals to compromise his/her account.

I think Arena was just hit by a “perfect storm” of concentrated external attacks and some internal mistakes during launch week.
Shannon — I disagree with you, and evidence sustains my position: If there was such a “perfect storm,” then the forums would explode with tens of thousands of posts about hacked accounts. A few posts a day does not point to any sort of systemic security incident but rather sustains the point, proven in every examined case so far, that these issue relate to personal account/computer/network security.
And because this thread has devolved into speculation — next stop, Conspiracy Theory Land — I’m going to lock the thread.

The changes we are making to the loot drops for Explorable will be rolled into Story as well, so defeating Story bosses will give you items to help you progress into explorables easier. We want to make a definite progression from Story to Explorable.. Not create this weird separation of the two we have currently.

I’ve been very vocal about the changes to dungeon loot here in the dungeon thread and my hopes it would be in by this next patch. While I still hold out hope, I don’t think it will make it in since it needs more tuning.

When was the last time you tried this story step? It has been revised since release.
Right now, I buy items from gem store, but seems that the total of my gems gets down as regular, but no item is delivered.
Am I the only one who cannot get any items?
