Oh you definitely can disable email authentication, with the help of Support. Contact the team by filing a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page. They will be able to assist you.

I read in the forums here somewhere that using the email authenticator is one of the ways that hackers had / have been getting control of accounts. Is this true?
No this is not true.
I’ve had about 10 emails, warning me about people trying to log into my account from different parts of the word. I changed my password, so I have not been prompted recently, but I’d say you’re better off being safe than sorry.
And I’d say you’re right.

Short answer – no.
The reason is that we are working towards an esport based on skill. I realize some of you want your items to matter, and if you want that, WvW gives you that feeling.
But we feel it’s very important that you are on equal footing with your opponents when in sPvP. We want skill to be the single largest determinant in who wins in sPvP.
We may add more aesthetic choices down the road, and maybe the stats on the amulets can change, but overall we want to stay w/ the “no power grind” system that we have established.

SO I just got an email that someone tried to login to my account from Kwanghuidong???
I immediately changed my password and did NOT verify the login attempt.
Is my account secure?
Do I need to do anything else to ensure my account security?
Yes, I believe you took the appropriate steps to prevent an account compromise. It’s scary to get those emails, but when you think about it, it’s even scarier to not get them and find the account has been compromised. Having the emails come in lets us players know that someone is sniffing around the account and reminds us to use best security practices every day.

To ensure understanding, I’d like to also point out that you should only ever need to run -repair once after you think you’ve remedied the issue with your system. If you continue to hit archive-corruption crashes and/or prompts to repair your archive, then the issue hasn’t been fully solved yet.
Detahmaio, would you mind sharing the specific diagnostics you’ve run on your machine? Which memory-testers, which set of tests, how long the tests ran for, etc. Even if you’ve already done thorough tests with nothing turning up, the information is useful to me for understanding how the corruption does and doesn’t present itself. = )
Also, it looks like you’ve got well over 200 instances of corrupted files. Would you mind running with -analyzeFull and attaching that result to this thread? The regular -analyze option limits the results to keep the log-size low. If the log-file is too large for attaching to this thread, let me know and I’ll arrange something for you.

While we don’t have a way to return influence you would have received or give you a replacement influence-giving item yet, we’re still actively working on a solution. Until we have more information, you probably won’t see an update on any related support tickets, but I assure you that this issue is still one that we’re aware of and want to fix.
In the meantime, please make sure to only use influence-giving items on your server’s main shard, as influence granted from these items on overflow shards is not applied.

There are some recipes that use a Gift for a named Exotic weapon. Jormag’s Breath is not one of them.
There are Heart vendors in every map that sell gathering tools for karma.
As I have said before, do not trust the 3D previews from that database. I just took a look, and the preview for Azureflame is definitely not accurate.

This is absolutely an issue as the game matures and we are working on ways to make running story mode with someone worthwhile even if you have already run it so players just reaching these dungeons can more easily find groups to play with. It will probably take some experimentation before we find the right motivator.
