Hi everyone.
As some users have correctly stated, the best way to help us and the security team is by using the in-game reporting tools. Posting in the forums does not speed up the process in any way.
We will proceed to close this thread.
Thanks for your understanding.
Hi Zuralork.
No, you will not find any patch notes as we always announce each of them on the announcement subforum and in the main forum page. Some maintenance procedures require more time than others to be done.
We will now close this thread.
Thanks for your understanding.
Hi everyone.
Yes, please, would be great if you could keep on reporting botters and multi-boxers, as none of their activities is allowed in GW2. Thank you very much.
Hi everyone.
Thank you very much for your contribution. We have this open thread where we are keeping all your feedback and discussion about the botting issue. We would ask you to keep on reporting those fellows as you have been doing so far.
We will close this thread now.
Thanks for your understanding.
Dear all,
the cause for which this thread was opened is, indeed, a very good one. However, it is also an off-topic thread and therefore it will be locked.
Thanks for understanding.
Now that the answer has been given, I will close this thread.
Thanks!
Hello everybody,
like Shiren has already pointed out, a better place for this thread might be players helping players. It will be moved there.
Thanks for understanding.
Thanks to VakarisJ for summarizing the situation in the best way possible.
Please stick to this thread for everything related about night capping.
Thank you for your understanding.
Hi everyone,
As this thread as no goal, I will now close it.
Thanks for your feedback.

Hello Slapandtikle,
you need to contact customer support to get this issue sorted out. This thread will be locked as it is not a tech issue and therefore, it´s off-topic.
Thanks for understanding,.
Hello everybody,
both topics have been merged to the previously existing one.
Thanks for understanding.
Hello everybody,
the answer to this issue has already been given by customer support.
Therefore, this thread will now be locked.
Thanks for understanding.
You have to plug the leaks to stop them from spawning.
I am watching this thread (and everything else in the sPvP forums) closely. I’ll post something tomorrow to update you guys. Sorry I’ve not been posting more, I can’t be in meetings and on the boards at the same time.
Thanks for all the constructive posts. I know you guys are frustrated right now, so thanks for being so organized, well-written and metered in your responses.
@PeteyPen: Ya…was gonna say. Just wanted to be sure you know you can MANUALLY swap teams in a random sPvP game. Mouse explained how this is done so I won’t repeat it.
@Pinder: This will already naturally happen once we have both free and paid tournaments online. The problem right now is that everyone is in the same “pool”, so the randoms are getting matched up against the really good organized teams. Eventually, the really good teams will gravitate towards the paid tournaments, which will create a more casual feel (which is more PUG friendly) in the free tournaments.
I believe that the first ticket, from April, has been addressed in that your account is registered.
The second ticket has been forwarded for review
As to the third, you and your friend elected to craft an item and then found that you were not able to sell it for the price that you intended. Anything involved with crafting involves an element of chance, and we will not reimburse you for the gold that you have requested.
What’s your current objective? Can you talk to the Pale Tree if you manually select it before interacting? (If Trahearne and the Tree are the same distance away, it will randomly pick one to talk to if you don’t have one selected.)
Still not fixed, South gate bugged out 5 times in a row today.
What exactly does that mean? What’s your current objective? Did you lead Trahearne to the gate? Did he comment on it? Did you get the step to talk to him? Did you talk to him? Did he summon any help?
Update:
I just found and fixed (for reals) the problem with the story stalling when you tried to talk to Trahearne. Turned out to be some corrupt data, so it looked ok in some cases, but was failing on the Live server. While I was at it, I also thinned out a lot of the spawns. I’m still seeing weird name color issues at the end, and I’ve asked our programmers to look into it. (They’re showing up on the correct hostile team, but displaying the wrong color for some players.) It’s currently in the queue for our testing department to run through it, I’ve asked that this be expedited and added to the 10/8 update since this story step has been such a huge problem.
Since it’s 4:30pm local time, it won’t hit testing until tomorrow, but I’ll post another update once I get approval to add this to the 10/8 update.
@ JonathanSharp
But we sync well together when we play in tPvP. The problem is we do not sync well with the other 3. In sPvP if us two were paired it’s not enough to decide the outcome of the battle. Also, the othe.r team is just as out of sync as my team since it’s random.
You can always just swap teams once you join a map together. Granted, there may be autobalance sometimes, but you can still play on the same team a lot of the time (that’s been the case for me when I PUG w/ a friend).
Ya, I would really recommend playing free tournaments together. That’s why they’re there – so people who want to play together can play together on the same team.
If it’s just you 2, that’s fine, you will be matched up with 3 others.
We’ve actually talked about making some changes to how this works, but it’s stuff I can’t talk about yet.
I don’t wanna be a tease, but I CAN say that a lot of the things you guys are asking about are things we’ve talked about in meetings.
Justttttttttttt can’t say too much yet.
I disagree kKagari. We never had an item generation tool in GW1 because we never wanted it to be abused, hacked into or anything else to otherwise compromise the GW1 economy. That’s not lying or not being prepared. That was being cautious. Of course, GW2 is a different game with different needs. I’m just, frankly, not fully up to date on what tools support has and what it doesn’t. I was told that we have no way to give players items based on them being caught by a bugged Mystic Forge recipe. Perhaps, I shouldn’t have said anything at all since I clearly don’t have all the facts, but I wanted to at least give some response to the thread. I’ll try not to make the same mistake again.
We thought we should put in our 2 cents as well.
Guild Wars 2 is a game about freedom. We want you to be able to explore the world and engage in a huge variety of activities, focusing on whatever best suits your tastes.
Some players have run into “diminishing returns” thresholds we put into the game to provide a safety net against unanticipated economy-breaking issues. We do have these thresholds in place, but it’s not our intention that normal players should ever run into them. We’ve recently had bugs and imbalances that have caused normal players to hit thresholds, and we’ll fix those.
These systems are put in place to protect the economy from botters and exploiters. We will close exploits as quickly as we can. These thresholds help create a safety net to keep the economy safe when we aren’t there to deal with the offender. It’s important to have a safety net in place. It would be bad for everyone if, for example, a group of players learned how to speed-clear a dungeon in 5 minutes, with full rewards each time, and then repeated that continuously. When one activity emerges that’s order of magnitudes more profitable than anything else in the game, it forces everyone to either engage in that activity or get priced out of the economy.
While we need a safety net to stop unanticipated economy-breaking exploits and botting, we have no desire to stop farming. Farmers are a part every online economy and when they are doing normal game activity they do not cause any harm. If a player finds a normal game activity fun and would like to keep doing it, that’s fine with us.
Initially we have to rely on smaller data sets, instinct and some guesswork to find the correct cutoff. What this means is that some players are going to bump into the edges of these systems for a while as we get them sorted out. Please bear with us while we gather more data and lower the safety net until it’s only providing critical economy protection. Looking at the numbers this morning, we believe some of the threshold systems are just too harsh empirically and we’ll be adjusting those systems within the next few weeks to ensure that fewer legitimate players are being impacted.
I hope this helps to explain why a game like this needs systems such as this to protect its economy. I also hope it gives some insight into our philosophy about botters (BAD) and exploiters (BAD) vs. farmers (GOOD). Thanks for your support and we will see you in game.
Jon
As previously mentioned we are still looking into performance and low framerate issues that some players are experiencing despite having a system that exceeds the minimum requirements (http://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1119).
If this is affecting you, we would like to recommend the following suggestions:
First, please make sure you have the latest Service Pack for Windows. Depending on which operating system you have, the latest version will vary:
7 = Service Pack 1
Vista = Service Pack 2
XP = Service Pack 3
You can check this by typing “Windows Update” in the “Search” bar of your “Start” menu. Please be sure to download all critical and important updates.
Next, make sure that you have the latest video card drivers from your video card manufacturer (AMD, Nvidia, Intel). The websites in the links provided below have an auto-detect feature which will detect your graphics card and operating system and will locate the most recent driver for you.
AMD autodetect: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/auto_detect.aspx
Nvidia Autodetect: http://www.geforce.com/drivers
Intel Autodetect: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx?lang=eng
Please note that both AMD and Nvidia have Beta drivers that you can install to see if these have any effect on your performance.
In addition, one of the many causes for low performance with high end graphics cards is that their PCi-Express GPU is plugged into a 1x|4x slot rather than a 16x slot. For players who have recently upgraded their video cards, we recommend ensuring that the GPU is plugged into the proper PCi-Express slot for maximum performance.
If you have an AMD or Nvidia graphics card, please see below for additional settings that you can try to tweak for improved performance:
For AMD cards:
1. Right-click on your desktop and select “Catalyst Control Center.”
2. Select “Preferences” and left-click “Advanced mode.”
3. Click the “Gaming” tab on left.
4. Select “3D Application Settings.”
5. Under the heading “Anti-Aliasing” checkmark “Use application settings” but do not check “Morphological filtering.”
6. Under the heading “Anisotropic filter” checkmark “Use application settings.”
7. Under the heading “Tessellation” checkmark “AMD Optimized.”
8. Under the heading “Catalyst A.I.” move the slider to “Performance.”
9. Under the heading “Wait for vertical sync” move the slider to “On, unless application specifies.”
10. Under the heading “Anti-Aliasing Mode” move the slider to “Performance.”
11. Click “Apply” to save these changes.
12. Start Guild Wars 2.
Once loaded, access the “Graphic Options” window and make the following changes:
1. Change “Refresh Rate” to “60 Hz”
2. Change “Frame Limiter” to “60.”
3. Change “Reflections” to “None.”
4. Change “Render Sampling” to “Native.”
5. Enable “Vertical Sync” at the bottom.
For Nvidia cards:
1. Right-click on your desktop and select “Nvidia Control Panel.”
2. Once opened, left-click on “3D settings” and select “Adjust image settings with preview.”
3. Select “Use my preference emphasizing” and move the slider to “Performance.”
4. Select “Use the advanced 3D image settings” and left click on “Take me there.”
This should take you to the “Manage 3D Settings” window. Once here:
5. Change “Power Management mode” to “Prefer maximum performance.”
6. Change “Multi-display/mixed GPU acceleration” to “Single display performance mode.”
7. Change “Vertical Sync” to “Use the 3D application settings.”
8. Click “Apply” to save these changes.
9. Start Guild Wars 2.
Once loaded, access the “Graphic Options” window and make the following changes:
1. Change “Refresh Rate” to “60 Hz.”
2. Change “Frame Limiter” to “60.”
3. Change “Reflections” to “None.”
4. Change “Render Sampling” to “Supersample” then back to “Native.”
5. Enable “Vertical Sync” at the bottom.
Ok, I’ll let the programmers know again. Thanks for the report guys, we’ll look into it and why it seems to hit such a small % of the players.
Yes, we’re already thinking ahead to esport commentating. It’s much easier for new players to see the blue/red teams.
Think about any sport you’ve ever watched. Imagine that each player could wear whatever they wanted to look bad kitten It’d be much harder to tell who’s on which team.
So for us, the blue/red essentially equates to team jerseys.
Etc.
Is it an intended design choice that different regions cannot tourney together? In other words can we expect it to be changed in the future?
Yes, for now. We’re worried about the lag issues that may arise, which would be unfair to one of the regions. Sucks to lose tournaments because you’re lagging and your opponents are not.
We may revisit it later, but for now, that’s how it works.
Hi Khanatos – What troubleshooting steps have you tried in regards to this issue? Do you get this error every time you try to log in?
Just to clarify – the way it works:
Hope that makes sense.
K bye.
Hi Bajema – Could you provide a Game Advisor report so that we could look into this issue?
You can download the Game Advisor application at the link below:
http://us.ncsoft.com/gameadvisor/
Please note that you will be automatically prompted to install Game Advisor upon clicking the link. Once you’ve generated the report, you can attach it to this thread by clicking “More posting & formatting options…”
No. It’s a moa.
The black lion tools are working as intended and are significantly better than regular tools.
Yes, I am sure. I personally made the change that went into that patch and it was just for the Weaponsmith vendor who was mistakenly selling tools for karma. I was also personally in the rewards meetings for every map, in which we planned which Heart vendors would get which gathering tool. Granted, I wasn’t the one who hooked them all up, but I just did a quick check on the database and yes, they are still there.
Please have a look at Mike Lewis’s post about bots.
Her appearance is based on the country of origin you chose for her. (Elona, Kryta, Ascalon, if I remember correctly.)
Well, color me surprised! I must be behind the times. I’m not on the rapid response team, so if they got new tech, I wasn’t around to hear about it. Even still, I have inquired in the past about doing something for people who were given the wrong item from the Mystic Forge and was told that we had no way of getting the correct item to them. Maybe that has changed, I don’t know. You could put in a support ticket to find out.
Thanks for the discussion folks. Please feel free to continue you it here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/On-Botting-and-What-We-re-Doing-About-It
Be sure to read the first post to see what’s going on! Thanks!
Anything that enables a person to play the game without actually playing the game is a problem, such as using third party programs to automate game play.
Going AFK with turrets running isn’t technically an exploit, but players should be playing the game in good faith.
Hi,
This is the Guild Wars 2 PvP forum and it is not the right place to discuss this topic, so I’m closing it.
Hi everyone.
Thanks for bringing this again to our attention!
I will forward it to the forum team.
Hi Malediktus.
Thanks for your question. Sorry but at the moment we do not contemplate installing any form of avatars in the forums.
@Geff: this is what I was wondering as well. Did the other people who posted in here eventually get chests once the tournaments finished?
Thanks for the discussion all. In order to keep this topic focused, please direct your discussion to this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Let-s-Start-the-Karma-DR-Dialogue
Thanks!

You are missing one and also, clams are not a farm material
When they say that we have no tools to give players individual items, they really mean it. It’s not just an excuse. We currently have no method of generating items on Live. In this case, even if we were able to do something like mail you the correct item if you mail us the incorrect item, there would be no way to know if you got that item from the intended recipe or from the bugged one. It’s not a great answer, I know, but all we can do is fix these bugs as soon as possible. In this case, I fixed the recipe as soon as I knew about it and pushed the fix into our Live build queue. I am very sorry that this bug fell through a crack and went Live, but it’s a really huge game.
In general, I prefer to avoid putting any dates on future updates/fixes. Things change all the time in development, it’s just part of how this whole “making games” thing works. It can be a real bummer for players to hear a date, get excited about that date, and then have it changed on them. I don’t want to give you guys a date because my years of experience as a developer means that I know that things can change unexpectedly, but I will say that the fix for the recipe is on our Dev server, has been verified by our QA testers and is currently in staging for a future Live build. My hope is that it will be included in our next Live build, but I recommend you watch for an update note on it.
Also, Giant Eyes are used in multiple recipes. Including ones that aren’t bugged
First, the responses you received were not “automatic replies.” They were sent by a CS Agent in response to your specific situation and they contain a lot of valuable information that we want players to have in relation to the Tome of Influence and indeed all DDE or CE in-game items. I just want to be sure you know your ticket has been read and the responses sent are appropriate for most cases.
However, I believe you used your Tome of Influence on an overflow server, and the fact that you did no receive Influence is a known issue. Correcting this will require a dev solution and I am sorry but I do not have a timeframe for that remedy.
Also, you should be aware that changing worlds leaves your Influence behind. That is, you do not carry Influence between worlds when you move. Once the Influence issue is rectified, you will need to go back to the world in which you use the Tome and your Influence will still be there. If you find that moving to the world restores your Influence, could you please update your ticket to let us know that all is well?
Lastly, an agent just reviewed this for me and again, it is properly queued to address the issue when we have the dev solution.
