Hi, a lot of people have an opinion about why ANet hasn’t stopped botting yet. Most of the opinions are quite reasonable. I work in the area of automatic classification and inference. So, I find it puzzling as to why botting remains when to me there appears to be enough data to stop this almost entirely.
There are data points with a botter that are wholly different than those of a regular player, and from a classification point of view allow for almost certain classification. Lots of data point. Together these different points give I feel 100% certain classification.
I feel reluctant to communicate in too much detail (if an ANet staffer gives the nod I’m happy to broaden the discussion)… I would have thought ANet had the development experience in house already, if they don’t I strongly suggest they go find themselves a dev with a suitable background. I’m not special, there are an awful lot of programmers to whom this problem would not be difficult. If botting is looking like a hard problem to ANet it is because they haven’t gotten the right experience in-house. Much harder classification problems are dealt with in real time.
In short, with the right programmers botting in the obnoxious form we’re currently seeing can be removed completely, and easily.

I feel all jerky and like I’m constantly having to adjust my camera instead of it being a nice smooth experience.
Is anyone else feeling this? Do I need to adjust my sensitivity or mouse DPI in some way? I’ve always played with highest camera sensitivity and a 2000 DPI on my mouse, for all games, and it worked great before but now it almost makes me feel sick.

The problem with character deletion was a temporal one. However, some players could have still their characters blocked. If this is your case, as it seems so, please, create a new ticket for Customer Support with the details of the particular character you want to delete, so they can take care of the incidence.

I’m glad to hear that some people are reporting that their guild permissions are fixed with today’s build. Please post in this thread (or PM me) to let me know whether your permissions are fixed or not.

Not sure if the patch notes reflect this, but the disappearing NPC bug was fixed in that build.
Was this after the patch that just went through 30 minutes ago?

Location: Loch JeztNPC still broken. (3+ weeks now) NPC just lays there dead. Unknown if it ever worked when server came up from update.
Sadly this one will be broken until our next update. The issue here was found after we got the fix in that I mentioned last week. Luckily, this is the only one that was affected by this issue.

Every hostile (red) creature in Dredgehaunt has a very small chance to drop a key.
Failing the jumping puzzle will down you and out you back at the start so you can bandage up or try again, or die and skip the puzzle. (If you choose “Retry from checkpoint” after being knocked off the ledge, it will put you past the puzzle.)
We didn’t want to have all issues as a sticky because we only do that when it’s about a topic which is often discussed. The fact that this happens indicates a risk. The fact it happened so often indicates you may be at considerable risk. (Sorry!) And yes, it’s possible that one of those attempts was successful, and if that is the case, you should contact Support immediately so they can help you regain access to and re-secure your account.
I’m sorry that this happened to you. The most likely situation is that you used a password that you have used in the past, and that password was available through one of the many stolen password lists that are available to RMTs (Real-Money Traders).
Changing the password every week is good. But you must use a unique password for the game. im just so frustrated at guild war 2. haven’t been able to play the game due to lag and fps issue. my computer spec is way the min requirement. i try everything updating everything.
now i just want a refund.

As a team the name was discussed and the majority felt that having Mass Murderer in the game was just too borderline to allow. (We don’t allow the proper names of mass murderers, so removing the term was also felt to be appropriate.)
I believe you found that you were not suspended, just that the name was changed. You’ll be able to rename in the future, if you desire.
As to your guild issues, please submit a ticket so the team can take a look at the situation.
We do not and cannot block IPs upon your request. It’s unfortunate that your account was compromised. Please follow the security measures outlined in Mike O’Brien’s Security Article and know that we do have plans for ways you can enhance your account security that will be coming soon.

We’re not going to make the Potty Mouth Server. There are rules, and you agreed to them when you joined the game. You disagree with the rules, but your playing on our private servers, and we intend to keep the game world pleasant for our players.
A server can have all sorts of things happen, and political chat is one of them. Move on and ignore and you’re fine. But offensive language has nastier outfalls, and it’s not allowed.
So, yes, you can swear. No, you may not. And if you do, and if it is seen or reported, action will be taken. That’s not a ban that is a suspension. Please make better choices in the future.

First of all I want to apologize for the radio silence on this issue. I should have kept everyone up to date with our progress in tracking this down, and sadly I didn’t. I apologize.
However, I have some good news. We are pretty sure that we’ve found and fixed the bug with guild leadership. The fix will be going out in the next build.
I can’t officially tell you when the next build is, but let’s just say that you don’t have to wait very long from this point.
Once this bug is fixed, hopefully both the entirely missing guilds and the guild permissions problem will be things of the past. We also have a solution in the works for restoring missing influence, but that’s something the community team can tell you more about as it becomes official.
Apologies again, and I can’t wait to get this next build out and make everyone’s experience better!
We’re aware of this issue. Great workaround – I’ve heard of workarounds involving logging off and logging back in after the party is formed, but before the instance is made is also supposed to help.

Nerva, change your trait. We have a system in place that allows you to swap out traits with no punishment and little inconvenience. In the open world it’s a much more feasible thing to keep 1 pet out for a long time and rack up a stack of bonuses, but dungeons encourage you to change your tactics up and adjust to new and different challenges.
From my experience, not all traits are useful in all situations and areas. Finding the right ones that work well in respected areas is key to adaptation.
My main is a ranger (my fav class), and being that I designed dungeons, I know full well the frustration with having pets in dungeons.
I have spoken with the systems team at length about this problem, and we are looking into ways to enhance pet functionality in dungeons. I’ll express my main tactic now for the sake of starting dialogue about how best to uyse pets in dungeons right now:
pet 1 – Hyena (Sir Chompers). His f2 makes him summon another hyena, and he’s got a knockdown. Canines are pretty good in general, and sometimes I will switch out the Hyena for the wolf that causes fear with it’s f2 howl, or for a more supporty wolf like the fern wolf.
Pet 2: situational Devourer(Captain Snips). They’re pretty kitten tough and can take a few hits before going down. They can buy you the crucial 5-10 seconds to res a friend and get them back into the fight.
1. Never count on your pet to help you kill anything.Utilize their CC abilities to try and synergize them with your own, and sacrifice them to save a player.
2. Search and Rescue: This utility skill is amazing in dungeons. It doesn’t res your pet, but if your pet does go down, they will still help another player out.
3. Lick wounds: If your pet dies in a fight, and you go down, try not to get back up until you can hit your 3 skill. This will kick res your pet, and allow you to get back up without having to swap pets.
4. Swap pets constantly. If your swap is available, use it. It’s a 20 second cooldown, but swapping your pets in and out constantly brings different skills into play that aren’t in cooldown.
that’s just a few tips to how I utilize my pet in dungeons.

Hey robert, you know what really sucks? When you do dungeon runs and as soon as the boss dies you get vote kicked.
yeah, that does suck. A lot. We’re working on solutions to that problem beyond just relying on people reporting those griefers.
