I wanted to post a bit on here because I was playing last night at a time where our numbers were dwindling and the influx of enemy players from another region pushed our server back to basically its last tower/supply camp. I spent a good portion of my time split between a few different things.
1) spamming, stay here and defend in team chat once ever 15 seconds. Please if your team only has a small foothold please get it supplied up and upgraded before trying to take a keep on the other side of the map.
2) Organizing a small group of people (5-10) to make targeted raids on supply camps to slow down enemy supply gain. Synchronizing taking all supply camps right around the score tick is a good way to mitigate some of the overall score damage being done by not holding any keeps.
3) Chatting with various people about night capping. This third one was time consuming, especially because I wished I could have posted what I was telling them on the forums. Well now I am trying to do that. Let’s assume that my private chats were much more compelling, eloquent, and well reasoned than this because it was midnight and I was frantically chatting in /whisper with 3 people while simultaneously fighting off hordes of enemies.
First of all I just want to say, the game is young. We know there are areas that we want to improve. Being steamrolled into a corner of your map is not the only problem in the game and not even the only problem in WvW. We are working on these areas, but I know it’s still possible to have lots of fun playing, and as the game matures these areas are going to get better and better.
I know we all know this, but it is nice to remember that WvW is persistent. This is one of the best things about it and we don’t want to inherently make logging in at non peak hours less rewarding than logging in during primetime. We already have long queues and off-peak is a chance to avoid those and still play the game. That being said, there are some things we need to do to encourage you to log in even when your world is being dominated by a massive rush of enemies who live in a part of the world where they aren’t checking their watches to see if the sun is about to rise. We have been talking about this since about 2 or 3 days into launch and have some ideas. The problem is many of them require resources which we do not have right now as we work to keep the game stable and bug free in its infancy. However some of these ideas have some traction and we are working on them actively. They will still take some time to implement and time to test, but we are not ignoring the fact that players want to feel like their late night efforts are worth more than just a pat on the back.
We are just as into playing GW2 and WvW as you guys are, and we welcome and appreciate all of your feedback. Just know your feedback is going to a good place where we are constantly trying to improve the experience for each and every player. I hope this helps clear up our position and ease your concerns about the long term health of this part of the game. I know this was really long so…
TL;DR Night capping is fun, WvW is 24/7 but getting steamrolled is not fun and we need to work on that to make it better.
OK, time to get back to Bluelake Tower in JQ Borderlands, there is bound to be a mass of HoD invaders at the front door!

I just wanted to mention that I’ve started getting gold seller emails in-game with 1 copper attached so that they are not as deletable (Report > Take All > Delete). I hope there are no complications with us “accepting” the copper from such mails, because I’m certainly not going to let them fill up my inbox.

I get so many game mails now saying about buying gold from their website and it’s really annoying so i was going to start reporting all of them, but i noticed when i go to report it, it has a warning with something along the lines of if they are not found to be gold sellers that i could get banned, or something like that.
That kinda worried me a bit, if they some how don’t get found to be selling gold or delete their account then could i get banned for wasting time?
I don’t want to report someone i get mail from, then they get away with it and i could potentially get banned for trying to help out.
As Mrhodes has correctly stated, you won´t get banned for reporting correctly all those spamming emails. On the contrary, the more you report with reason (and not just deleting those emails), the more you help us.

Lack of continuity is a big issue as it currently stands. We need some characters to be with us from 1-80, and others can come and go in the storyline. Characters shouldn’t just disappear without explanation.
The Charr warband is a nice start, but we need those elements used across the entirety of the personal storyline. Otherwise, how will we care about them if most of them are only around for 2-3 events? Longevity on NPCs allows us to interact with them, build relationships with them, care about them . . . and through that, care much more strongly about the storylines that involves them as well.

We try to be as transparent as possible with our changes. Some things, like closing exploits, we aren’t always going to post about. You never want to directly put down someone’s idea though, or point out specific people since that can have unforeseen consequences (ahem).
But yes, there are good player suggestions that we outright implement without any tweaking whatsoever. “crystals are too hard to kill” being an example. Yup, they’re a bit on the tough side for how many there are at any given time – nerfing the toughness seems appropriate. That’s gonna happen on Monday though, but I felt it was a solid example

Indeed. I can say this though, we recognize failures not just in random occasions, but in total systems and dungeons in general. The great thing about an MMO/Live game, is that we can change it for the better. We have plans to change things based on feedback, and we are finalizing those plans right now. As soon as we are done and have a solid actionable plan, we’ll let you all know what that is, and what you can expect for the future of dungeons.

We have plans, and we’ll be commenting on them very soon. I wish I could have a “no promises being made” thread where we talk about things, but the unfortunate aspect of a dev revealing plans and intentions is that in itself is a promise. And we may say something, build it, try it, and then iterate on it to the point it is not what we said, and that tarnishes credibility we had in claiming something, even though the system it became might be measurably better. The danger is in systems that change that aren’t easily measured as better or worse, that are different from our initial assertions and expectations.

I’m sitting at my computer working on things between posts (and sometimes spending too much time posting!), but it’s not my job. I’m actually building content and fixing issues right now.
Our support team is forced to appraise each ticket and find solutions. I pick and choose threads and occasionally post in them, so naturally I can communicate a lot quicker than them on issues I am knowledgeable of within this sub-forum.
Do not leave the dungeon without collecting your reward first. CoE is a bit odd apart from other dungeons in that it actually throws you out, and I’ll be looking into that as well. Maybe add a conversation about interacting with the teleporter in order to get out instead of just shooting you out when you’re on the platform, however the core issue is simply that the reward got hosed by leaving the dungeon.
As for the PTS, I am not going to comment on that at the moment until we have actionable information to give.
Threads like these have the potential to get a bit volatile. Please remember to provide constructive criticism with each other, and foster dialogue over name calling.
That being said, we are indeed careful about analyzing what the feedback really means. Everyone has legit feedback to give, no matter how it is constructed – part of our job as Developers is to look at feedback from any sort, and attempt to glean the essence of their feedback.
Sometimes it is simple: This boss hurts my face and can kill me in one shot with his Flameburst attack, and there’s no way to dodge or block it!
Sometimes it’s rather complex: Nerf FlameBurster boss in CoF he’s totally OP!
Both are just examples of what could be the same issue, and both have merit. The second example would usually only draw a cursory glance which can lead a reader to the assumption that a group just got rolled and couldn’t defeat a boss… but the first example is more indicative that there might be a problem with some numbers and balance.
It’s part of our job to read your feedback, investigate things, and make a decision on what we find. Some feedback is harder to glean actionable items from, but that’s part of what we do.
I’d like to figure out a way to do this at some point. It’s not a very high priority right now though.

We adjusted the time last week to match other things that reset at 12:00am UTC. We don’t plan to move it again.
I think we have to assume at this point that getting 1 token for a 2 hour instance run is intended. The devs have adamantly refused to acknowledge that this is a bug.
I admitted it was a bug a few posts up.
The bug is that the reward was messed up when you left the dungeon, not that you left the dungeon by standing on the teleporter when it activated.

yeah, so, I just ran into QA and had them verify this. It is indeed facepalm worthy. We’ll have tech on this right away. It had previously worked the same way that story rewards worked – in that you could leave the story instance and collect your full reward afterwards.

The reward screen shouldn’t have disappeared entirely, but the entire story of that path is that there is an experimental teleporter that you are choosing to escape the dungeon with. By standing on the platform, it behaves as though you are walking through a zone portal.
You also are only booted if you are standing directly on the teleporter part of the structure – did you experience your entire group being teleported out of the dungeon all at the same time, regardless of where you all were standing?
