There are no plans to have a sub-forum for off-topic discussion. If you wish to engage in off-topic discussion, please do so in one of the many fansite communities.
Given that there are no plans to change the way the Worlds are flagged, and this thread is starting to devolve into arguments, this thread will be closed. Thanks.
Hi Darkness, after reviewing the Game Advisor report you had provided it does not appear as though your graphics card meets the minimum requirements to play. This can certainly have an affect on whether or not the installation will complete.
In addition, by default port 80 will be closed for most players and this generally will not have an impact on whether or not you can connect to the game client.
Since I can see no other reason that the installation will not progress it appears the culprit is the graphics card.

After reviewing the information and ping path reports in this thread it appears that the majority of you are suffering from packet loss. If you are not familiar with this term, it is in reference to the loss of data while in transit from point A (your computer) to point B (our servers).
If you review the Ping Path results, you should see that multiple hops have packet loss throughout the test.
For example, “Hop #11 —- 50/ 50 =100% 46/ 50 = 92% 62.157.249.242“
According to the example, this particular “hop” is suffering about 92% packet loss. This is because 46 out of 50 packets sent were lost in transit.
When your connection has this kind of packet loss you will receive error 5. Not enough data is received within a certain period of time, and therefore, the game client will disconnect you because it thinks you are no longer active.
Because the loss of data is happening prior to reaching our game servers, you will need to contact your Internet Service Provider for assistance. It may also be helpful to provide them with your path pings that clearly show the packet loss.
I think Gaile’s post in closing the other thread was legitimate. I think she said they’re working on security improvements or maybe I read that somewhere else?
We just have to try to be constructive and not abusive in these conversations.
And I agree, if you read the previous post, that was what was said in the opening conversation. There was no “abuse” and nothing NON-constructive, there was NO REASON to lock the post. The question is a legit question and really should not be brushed off. We are asking WHAT will be in place to remedy this. A generic “We have stuff in place” is not an answer.. Thats the equivillent of me asking you whats for dinner and you replying “Food”….
By once again… This is not to belittle Anet or anyone for that matter, but to have their customer base be aware of WHAT is going to happen.
You are aware that you’re asking about security, right? And that by discussing that in a public forum, we risk giving would-be hackers and account thieves a diagram of what we’re planning, so they can design a work-around?
I suggest you watch the daily update notes, and you can learn what is appropriate to discuss in a public venue. And I also suggest that making sweeping statements about the “obvious” nature of individual issues is unfair, inaccurate, and unncessarily inflammatory.
I will close this thread. I will merge it with the other. And you should desist from demanding information that is not appropriate to share in a public venue.
Hey there, sorry that you’re seeing this issue! To help us better understand the issue, can you please list all of the names of your equipped armor?
Thank you.
Thanks for the question, JediSange, but that information is internal.
Hello. Big fan of the game, and understand that support staff is likely very busy, but I’ve been waiting on getting this question answered and if I could get it answered here, I could close the ticket and take a little off said staff’s workload.
I named a character “Sporb Onenut.” It’s a name I used for a Pathfinder character. The last name is a reference to the fact that this character only has one “nut,” and it alludes to the fact his controller (me) shares that trait.
It’s not meant to be malicious or anything, but a friend told me it may break GW2 naming policy. If so, can the character be flagged for a rename? If not, no worries. Not trying to step on any toes; just want to make sure I’m following the rules.
Much thanks.
EDIT – Not sure if it helps, but the ticket I made has ref# 120831-017217.
We do not have a means to “flag for renaming” at this time. The character can be renamed by a GM, but we do not have optional renames at this time, even at request and even to avoid a potential violation.
You have done exactly the right thing, and agent will get back to you on this.
Hey guys, I’m here to follow up on Allie’s post! We have been constantly monitoring this thread as the resolution of these art issues is very important to us. Rest assured the issues are being addressed and will be resolved as soon as possible.
Fortunately, the majority of these issues are not related to your GPU/drivers.

You submitted a ticket yesterday, and Customer Support assuredly will help you. But posting a day later in these forums is premature. If you are not helped in five days, then post in the sticky post above and we’ll add you to the review list.
Edit:
So, thanks to your input on this issue we’ve discovered it is in fact a problem with this hairstyle! Thank you so much for reporting this and we are working to resolve the issue ASAP.
:)

What is “blatantly obvious” to you is, in fact, not the case. The issues that we are seeing involve fewer than 1% of our players. Their issues are related to stolen passwords (stolen elsewhere) and shared credentials, for the most part. We are dealing with that in many ways, to help players help themselves. If you are suggesting some sort of security breach, you can be sure that these forums would topple from the number of reports, and that is not the case. You’re seeing individual problems related to single accounts. And for those, we have remedies in place, and more coming.

Hi WasabiFish – Do you happen to know your friend’s system specs or are you able to attach a Game Advisor report to this thread which will let us essentially “take a look” at his system?
The large number of suggestions in different sub-forums is impacting discussion in those different sub-forums. As such, we’ve decided to open up the Suggestions sub-forum.
Please note that you should not expect a personalized, individual response to your suggestions, due to the massive volume of posts that the Suggestions sub-forum will generate.
Please also note that the Suggestions sub-forum will not be open permanently. This is a temporary solution until we roll out a better, more organized way to provide suggestions to the development team than using the forums.
Please head over to the Suggestions sub-forum to make suggestions. Moderators will start moving suggestion threads there.
Thank you for your understanding.
Can we be sure we’ll eventually get our missing guilds back and they’re not lost forever?
That’s how it looks at the moment – the guild system plays it really safe and if it notices any problems with the guild it basically refuses to load it (to prevent it getting more broken). All of the problems we’ve found so far are fixable and after we fix them, the guild loads fine and is available again.
I can’t promise that for every single case in the future – but for every case so far that’s been true.
Cam
The chatter system that handles things like greets and combat VO needs some frequency tweaking. It’s relatively simple to do, and it’s on our radar for polish stuff.
If there are scenes triggering near certain vendor NPCs, we should probably move them farther away.
Thanks Fynthix – I did manage to locate the laptop drivers for you although it looks like you may not need them. In case you want them here’s the link for you laptop drivers below:

What I am more concerned about is the way that you are connecting to the Internet. As previously mentioned this error message does not generally indicate an issue with your connection method (you would usually get the error message: “Connection Error… Retrying…”) I don’t want to dismiss it right away.
I noticed that you are connecting via Realtek RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter and this could be contributing to this issue, if not THE issue here. So I want to see if you are able to bypass the Wifi connection and connect directly with an Ethernet cable. If you are able to remove the router from this equation as a troubleshooting step I would recommend to try that as well.
Glad to be of some help!
Thanks for your feedback, Luminant.

Mods/Add-ons/Third Party Tools are not permitted. As such, this thread will be closed. Thanks for the discussion all.
Thanks for your feedback, Eluthion. If we open a phone service in the future, we will be sure to make an announcement.
Thank you to everyone who responded and PM’d me. As predicted, the fix worked for some guilds and not for others. We’ll continue to look into why the non-fixed guilds are still not working.
Just a note on the other issues raised in this thread : We’re going to focus on the problems with guilds entirely disappearing, and also fix the issue with having to move between servers to represent the guild. Once that’s working we’ll get back to everyone about the other problems they are seeing – we know that those other problems are important to fix too!
Regards,
Cam

The throwing of your fellow players is frowned upon and will not be allowed.
Thanks for your feedback though, Campana.
Hey guys – while there is nothing wrong with installing from the discs, please keep in mind that they will not have the latest updates and changes that have been made to the client since the discs were first made. There will be quite a large patching process that will need to take place afterwards. With the client completed you can probably expect the .dat file to be around 15-17GB.
Hi Kidefence – It does not look as though your graphics card meets the minimum requirements which is likely why you are experiencing this issue. I would first recommend updating your video card drivers since it looks like they’re from 2009 but please keep in mind that ultimately this issue may not be resolved due to not meeting the minimum requirements. I would check out Intel’s auto-detect feature to locate the newest drivers for your system:

Hi Nemesis – your setup isn’t bad and your graphics card is pretty good. Generally I would first recommend upgrading your memory, processor, and motherboard before throwing in a new video card and in this case I would start with motherboard and then maybe memory. Unfortunately I cannot suggest anything specifically but your motherboard and memory would be a good place to start. You don’t want to bottleneck the rest of your system with an overpowered video card.
These forums use standard BBCode and Textile. However, some features have been turned off purposely. For example, colored or resized text and inline images are disabled on these forums. It’s not that the code doesn’t work, it’s that it has been purposely disabled.
Your laptop model number will be something like g6-1c59nr or g6-1a01 or something along those lines. You can see a full list of model number’s for the g6 series of laptops here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/prodTopCategory?product=5046256&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&query=g6&tool=
Thanks for the feedback, Smilliam. There are no alternate forum themes, but if we implement any in the future, we’ll be sure to make an announcement.
It may be on the bottom – sometimes behind/underneath the battery.
Thanks for your feedback, hex.
All Ingredient and Seasoning recipes are Auto-Unlocked (that includes all frosting)
Are you sure that you don’t have any filter options checked that could prevent this recipe from showing and you are looking under Jeweler/Amulets? I took a look at the code and everything looks correct on my end.
Thanks Fynthix – it looks like you may need motherboard drivers but it wouldn’t hurt to cover the bases here. Do you happen to have your full system model number?
This has been suggested many times. The developers are aware of it.
Suggestions are being collected in this thread Please consider posting there so that developers can find suggestions more easily instead of having a lot of places in which to look.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We’ll get it looked into as soon as we can.
There are no plans at this time for Worlds to be tagged with specific languages that we do not support, nor are there plans at this time for Worlds to be specifically tagged as English. Players may use whatever language they wish on Worlds that do not have a specified language tag. Worlds that do not have a language tag are international and there are no language designations for those Worlds.
Agreed. They should be Account Bound. I’m looking at getting a fix for this into an upcoming build.
“If anyone is verbally abusing people for speaking a different language from them, please report them.” I respect what you are stating, but how am i suposed to know they are insulting if i don’t understand the language? I mean i’m Portuguese and i talk english to be polite to other people!
My comment was directed at English-speaking people to report other English-speakers for verbally abusing people who do not speak English. Everyone should be respectful to the rest of the community, regardless of what language they speak. Please be tolerant of people who do not speak the same language as you. Play and let other people play in peace. Again, on Worlds with no language tag, people may speak whatever they wish.
Unfortunately this is a known issue for players who have 32-bit operating systems and certain Nvidia cards. We’re currently looking into it but there is no ETA for a fix. If you are able to I would recommend upgrading to a 64-bit operating system and probably adding more RAM to your setup.
Please post in this thread if you have issues, questions, or concerns about the Guild Wars 2 authentication system (either the mobile or *email" authentication systems).
Note: If you resolve your issue, please post an update here, as well, so our Security Team can focus on the continuing issues and so they know when things are resolved. If you did certain things to correct your particular issue, please share them.
Thanks!
Edit to add: See this KB article for more information about Mobile Authentication.

People should not expect us to maintain a daily game update pattern. We will start getting into a regular cadence of game updates after this initial period of critical bug fixing has passed. At that point, we’ll start providing detailed update notes. Meanwhile, there are a couple of more detailed updates in News and Announcements: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news
Hi Nedween – Are you getting any error messages at all when this happens? Also, is the game client completely crashing on you or are you just getting disconnected? And by your entire connection, do you mean that you are unable to browse websites after you are disconnected from Guild Wars 2?
@Fynthix – Could you attach an updated Game Advisor report so that I can see the most recent changes made to your system and we can go from there?

@melmel – Your processor speed is a bit under the minimum requirements although the FPS you’re getting in game sounds about right and will vary depending on the in game graphics settings you’ve chosen.
Hey guys just letting you know that we’re still looking into this as the general workarounds do not seem to be resolving the issue for all players and so we’re having to dig a little further to get to the root of the cause of this issue.
We appreciate your patience!
@ Fynthix -
Since the new drivers didn’t do the trick I would like to rule out the possibility that there is another program interfering with the game connection. To do this, we use a Windows command called “MSCONFIG.”
Please note: this command will not uninstall any applications from your computer. All MSCONFIG does is prevent these applications from automatically starting when Windows boots up.
To do this:
1. Press and hold the Windows key and then hit the R key. This should bring up the Run dialog box.
2. Type “MSCONFIG” without the quotes, and click “OK.” This should open the System Configuration Utility.
3. Click on the “Services” tab and check the “Hide All Microsoft Services” check box near the bottom, then click the “Disable All” button. (You MUST click “Hide all Microsoft Services”)
4. Next go to the “Startup” tab and click the “Disable All” button.
5. Once these items are all disabled, click the “OK” button and you will get a prompt to restart your computer. Please restart your computer.
6. Once you return to Windows, please try connecting to the game again.
To reverse these settings, simply run MSCONFIG again and click “Normal Startup” on the first window labeled “General.”
Note: If you need a specific application to run with Windows but still want to use MSCONFIG, just follow the above instructions and on step 4, re-check any application you feel needs to start with Windows. Examples would be wireless connection software, mouse or keyboard applications or even security applications. Please note that security applications can often be a contributing factor to such issues. If you haven’t done so already, please also disable any Anti-virus, Firewall or other security applications for testing purposes.
Hi Chevvie -
This may be due to the use of more than one keyboard type in Windows. To resolve this, please try the following:
1. Click the “Start” button and select “Control Panel.”
2. Click “Clock, Language, and Region”
3. Click “Change keyboards or other input methods”
4. Click the “Keyboards and Languages” tab and select ’Change Keyboards."
5. Remove any non-use keyboards from the “General” tab and use only an “English (United States) keyboard service.”
Once done, try running Guild Wars 2 again.
There have been many, many requests for this feature. The team is aware of it. No need to make another thread about it when so many already exist. Thank you.
