Lmao what is this preschool? Just go with it nobody gives a kitten about that
Just doing my part to up the message: virtues (tomes) cooldowns on Firebrand, particularly F2 and F3, are too long for what you get, especially for being the whole point of the spec.
Been seeing the idea on Reddit that the cooldowns should be reduced based on how many charges you actually used; makes a lot of sense to me. But either way, they are too long as they are.
I rather like the spec otherwise!
For all of those who think that I was talking about a PoF section I was not. I apologize for not being more clear. What Andred mentioned is exactly what I was talking about and if this is true I think it is fantastic! I shouldn’t let you get my hopes up Andred! Gaile… perhaps a tiny little confirmation on this? You know you want to!
New forum is in fact happening. Somebody on reddit discovered it yesterday;
Well, I suppose I would have been more prudent to say “New forum appears to be happening or was happening at some point recently” but it is indeed on the guildwars2.com domain, so I would think the only way it’s not happening is if they abandoned it.
They better still have a lore section…
Not to worry!
Looks like they’ve been working on it for a couple months at least.
The posts were dumped from these forums, which could have been done at any time. What they have looks like a demo they threw together within a few hours to test the software.
There are some test posts as well that are dated from June/July.
But yeah that placeholder is pretty top-notch; I capped that image as well and really need “Okay, let’s do it” to become a meme xD
New forum is in fact happening. Somebody on reddit discovered it yesterday; I think ANet might have caught on and made the page unavailable to the public now, but I still have it open, so here’s a little preview

So what do you think, Kain?
“Channeled support” .. not exactly “healer” I guess, but may have some potential as more of a utility spec. I’m stoked to try it out, def building a new PC before 9/22 so I can raid again :P
Refunding HoT should not delete my GW2 account. I paid $150 for my GW2 Collector’s Edition (something you now give away like old food). Requesting that my purchase of Heart of Thorns be refunded due to Anet’s inability to provide what I paid for should roll back my account to pre HoT, not obliterate it.
This is unacceptable and needs to be addressed by Anet.
Lol suck it up and move on with your life, is it really worth all this fighting for $50 smh
I think it is pretty obvious with the general discontent on the forums, which has pretty much been the case since the following week after HoT release. The endless dump truck of gem store items to keep the revenue stream going with no steady content updates also indicates they are understaffed and not making enough money.
I’ll admit its speculation and nothing more, but the same trend was happening with WoW shortly after WoD was released… lots of moaning on the forums and then when the quarterly subscriber numbers were released the next year, they were abysmal.
“General discontent on the forums” is literally nonstop. All that indicates is that somebody will always be complaining about something. Sure, they obviously bit off more than they could chew with the legendary weapons, and that was a mistake. But all this talk of “broken promises” is as old as the game itself. Things change, get over it.
They set an ambitious goal, and they haven’t been able to meet it. That kinda sucks, but you know what? There’s plenty of other things you could be doing with your time. If you want to keep doing something you don’t enjoy in the name of some phony “loyalty,” that’s on you, and to act like you deserve something in exchange is just preposterous.
Just because you and your friends are happy doesn’t mean everyone lives in that bubble. Threads like that prove it out. And the backlash from that other thread and negative comments from hardcore supporters like Wooden Potatoes are the proverbial cherry atop this mess.
And just because you and your friends aren’t happy doesn’t mean the game is going to kitten. You said yourself, the only people who are particularly vocal are the ones who are dissatisfied, but not enough to just take a break. Which essentially means they just haven’t gotten their priorities in order, and are still willing to force themselves to do something they don’t enjoy because of some ridiculous notion of “loyalty” that simply doesn’t exist.
Except I paid for those new legendaries. Here-in lies the dilemma.
There’s no dilemma; you’re mixing two issues:
1) Nothing for you to currently do in game.
2) You feel slighted by ANet because of the “suspension” of legendaries. You want compensation (financial or possibly otherwise).Neither is a reason to keep playing. The latter is the reason just to keep up on what the community and ANet discuss in the forums. If compensation for the latter occurs, that might be reason to play again in the future. Imo it’s better to play games for your current enjoyment, not potential future enjoyment.
~EW
God it’s so refreshing to meet someone else around here who gets it. What do people expect for being “loyal” to a game? That’s just nonsense. Don’t make yourself do something you no longer enjoy just because you paid what is, frankly, a tiny amount relative to what you’ve already gotten from it.
And it’s not like you have to quit forever. Come back as often as you like, do as much as you like, then stop. If you’ve reached all your goals in the game, take a break, and come back when there’s new stuff to do. It’s really not complicated.
HoT is nowhere close to failure. If you even need an argument as to why, it’s clearly not worth the time to explain it to you.
Lol how long could you possibly have to wait? You can easily get most every adventure mastery over the course of a couple weeks. And don’t act like you don’t have anything else you can do when they’re not available.

I don’t really think it’s “fair” but let’s be honest, if you’re even remotely serious about this game, you have / are planning to get HoT. Like come on, it’s $50. You could pay that much for a game that you play for 25 hours and never pick up again. It’s really not that much to ask, and frankly, if you’re going into an MMO not expecting to buy the expansions, idk what you’re thinking.
(edited by Andred.1087)
My only complaint is their range. I’ve been killed by these things well beyond what one might expect their reach to be, e.g. they’re stuck on a rock / edge and still hitting me several feet away. I think the real issue isn’t so much their attack range (since they leap to attack), but that the attack doesn’t require them to be able to path to you.
Also it’s pretty ridiculous how far up enemy attacks will hit you when gliding. But that’s a separate problem.
(edited by Andred.1087)
If you are having trouble with HoT mobs, you need to adjust your play style. It’s really quite simple. Learning enemy attacks and knowing when to keep your distance is crucial, and you will definitely be doing that more than in Core Tyria.
Bummer, I was surprised my tools from last year lasted this long, and looking forward to restocking. But it’s not like gathering tools are expensive. It was just nice to always have another on me.
Lol @ all you people complaining about “Press 1 to win”
You sure seem to know a lot about good game design, I’d love to hear how you would create genuinely challenging open-world content with the systems of GW2 that is also accessible to enough people that it’s worth the tremendous effort of making it. Oh by the way, you only have like 20 developers for your brand new amazing content team, and the deadline is in 9 months, so good luck!
Or you can just keep fluffing your own egos by belittling people who don’t have the same skills and/or interests as you. You definitely look really smart and talented.
Would be sad to see it nerfed. The game needs more challenging content. Even raids (with Eternal) are too easy.
No, the game doesn’t need more challenging content, it needs more FUN content. Challenge =/= fun
Thats just your own opinion. For some people the challenge is the fun part. I for one enjoyed it the way it was (after the nuhoch fix, before that it was a bit too much). It wasn’t a guaranteed win, but it was close (with a coordinated group). Now if what op and other say is true, it’ll be just as easy as DS
You guys are really missing the point here. I think we can all agree that a good challenge is fun, but the problem was that Gerent wasn’t challenging. It just had a ridiculous amount of health, requiring everyone in the event to be full-on DPS, and counter-intuitively avoid using CC just to maximize burn time.
Is it too easy now? Maybe. But now anybody can participate, even if they don’t run DPS builds, and it will still be possible to win, as long as nobody screws up the lane mechanics, and you don’t have entire groups wiping to the jelly donut.
(edited by Andred.1087)
The casuals, loved this game because it was casual, we could accomplish things at our own pace while juggling work, family and other real life commitments.
You can still do any of it at your own pace. It just might take longer than you want it to. And that is not ANet’s problem.
It’s a shame that people think this gem store is so bad. Cause you know, it’s really not.
It’s eating away the content, with huge chunks.
It is bad for the game, because it brings absolutely NO value to gaming experience.Different people work on the gem store stuff. The people who make content, bug fix etc have nothing to do with what is made for the gem store. So I really don’t see how it is eating in to content.
In a sense it does, instead of releasing it in the Gem store, they could make it obtainable by just playing the game.
Thats not content, thats rewards.
Players not knowing the difference between these is the biggest source of complaints in this game.
I figured they would make it easier, but it wasn’t even a close game this time. By the end of Phase 2, two lanes had killed, and the others got it below 1%.
Could be that we had a lot of solid DPS players and we organized really well, but I wonder if any groups will ever fail from lack of DPS again? Not that I really want them to, but it seems pretty trivial now.
At the least, maps that aren’t 90% DPS builds have a good shot.
Now… how long will it be until people stop parroting the old rules?
I don’t mind using LFG, but it seems nobody else is using that for HoT maps.
Ummm… wat?
I do agree though there needs to be a better way to get into good maps. Still waiting on the day they implement proper queueing instead of this god-awful join spamming…
I know Scholar is good for dungeons and stuff, where a solid group can keep their health high enough to make the best of it, but in HoT, especially the meta events, I find myself often falling below the health threshold.
What rune set would you guys recommend to maximize DPS?
I just noticed I had a Strength rune lying around, and I happened to have gotten a lucky drop out of the exotic equipment chest just now which gave me another one. Should I just shell out for 4 more of those?
Seems reasonable enough with a solidly organized group, but man, screw pretentious, know-it-all meta guilds who only care about their godkitten pixel rewards.
I was just in a map for 45 minutes while it was getting organized, suddenly the map closes and we all get scattered. Which is unfortunate, but there’s still time to regroup and get situated. But nah, they just decide to give up, because they’ve killed it a whole 11 times, so obviously they know when it’s too late. And not only that; when the non-quitters wanted to keep organizing and try anyway, they refused to leave the instance, and opted to just laze about and collect their pity prize, instead of politely making room for people who actually felt like trying.
I mean seriously, it’s not like we would have gotten less rewards if we tried to do it and failed. But I guess their precious finger energy is more important than an entire map full of people who would rather struggle than just give up.
If rewards is all you care about, then you set yourself up for disappointment. Idk why people can’t get it through their thick skulls that this is a game, not a job. Rewards are there to give you direction; reaching the destination is pointless if you don’t enjoy the trip.
And yeah, it’s not perfect. Lots of stuff needs to be addressed. And it is being addressed, whether or not they’re talking about it yet. Point is, you can enjoy it if you want to. Or you can move on, if that’s the better choice in your mind. But don’t go around thinking your dissatisfaction is reflective of the state of the game, when more likely than not, the problem is in the way you’re looking at it.
(edited by Andred.1087)
they are not allowed to have this? why are these paying costumers not allowed to have what other paying costumers have? I do not see your logic. open your mind a little more.
Do you even know what logic is? Because you didn’t use any of it in that statement. Paying for the game does not instantly give you access to everything, there are requirements you have to meet for some of the content, and if you refuse to meet those requirements, as OP does (and I don’t blame them, I have a similar distaste for random online gamers), you do not deserve access to that content.
Where the lines should be is a matter of debate, but frankly, if you don’t have a guild big enough to claim a guild hall, you don’t really need any of the features that come with it.
(edited by Andred.1087)
Can’t be that you’re doing something wrong, obviously the game is just unfair.
I’m sure the developers working overtime to address everyone’s concerns really appreciate your support. They would be lucky to have people like you there to show them what all they’re doing wrong.
Also why the hell do you and so many others think they deserve your “faith” anyway? What exactly do you expect in return for “trusting” them? What are you even supposed to “trust” them for anyway?? It’s a kittening video game! You don’t have to play it! There’s millions of them out there to choose from. You can do anything else you want with your time. You can come back in a few days, or a week, or a month, who cares?? But you’re sure as hell not going to get any medals for bravery because you stuck around when everything wasn’t peachy.
Since they destroyed WvW at the same time HoT was released, GW2 has become a sad joke.
Interesting, because last I checked there are about 7 million people laughing.
the HoT expansion does not really do much for people who are not wanting to play that one new zone or play the new race.
Umm you clearly have not even read about it, there are 4 new zones, and a new profession, not race. Not to mention each profession has a brand new way of playing it via elite specializations.
Even though there’s way more than that, I’ll stop there, because you obviously don’t give enough of a kitten to actually read up. I’m confused as to why you even bothered posting this; I mean, if you aren’t interested, yeah, there’s no point in buying it. But loads of people are enjoying the expansion, and frankly, the devs don’t give a rat’s behind if people who haven’t even bought it are not happy with it.

It seems a bit unfair to punish players for a preferred play style.
Yeah, “punishing” … that’s what’s happening here…
I dont see any reason to do them.
OK, so don’t. Not everyone feels the same as you.
Colin said in an interview literally this morning that they’re going to be looking at Fractal rewards. Anyway take a chill pill, it’s not even real kittening money.

And if you kept them, then what? They were equally useless to you as they were.
Am I missing something here? Are you making real-world money off of loot? Cause if not, why does it kittening matter? You play games to kill time. You play games to have fun. Loot and exp are just bits on a server. What’s the big kittening deal? Why are you turning this into an optimization problem?
The rest of us are living in hell.
Lol you are taking this way too seriously.
Solid assessment. I think, though, if masteries were tied specifically to the activities they’re related to, people would just be complaining that they have to grind those activities. Whereas now, since it’s all based on gaining experience, you can do anything that gives you experience to train up your masteries.

Same goes for life. You’ve heard it a million times before, and maybe that’s why it’s so hard to believe. If all you ever try to do is have nice things, you’re never going to be satisfied, because things get old quickly, especially in the face of new things. If you feel like you’re running on a treadmill, constantly chasing a carrot on a stick, you probably are. But you don’t have to be.
Enjoying this game is a choice. A choice all (well, most) of us have the power to make. But you will never enjoy it if you treat it like a job, something you have to do to achieve some end, whatever it may be, that you think you desire, but can’t explain why outside of the terms of the game.
If you want to enjoy this game, or any MMO, you need to see the carrot as a suggestion. Something that directs you toward an experience, something you haven’t done before, or that you haven’t explored fully. Only when you come to appreciate each experience for what it’s worth, will you find yourself truly satisfied.
Now, that doesn’t mean it has to be your favorite game, or that you even have to like it much, or for very long. We all have individual preferences, and to some people, a game like this just isn’t worth their time. Those people should not make themselves try to like something that they just don’t find appealing.
So, at the end of the day, you just have to ask yourself: why am I playing? Why do I want to get this thing, or that achievement? Each of you will have a different answer, but that does not mean they are equally satisfactory. If all you care about is having the shiniest toys, or the most prestigious accomplishments, then I’m afraid you will be sorely disappointed with the experience. Luckily, all you have to do is change your approach, shift your focus toward enjoying the experience of it all, rather than caring only about the end goal. So, why don’t you?
Yeah so both of you missed the point, what’s the justification for doing 10 times the work (in some cases 20 times the work, for no reflective reward)
Seems you’re missing the point of the entire game, or any game. Tell me, what are you going to do with those rewards when you get them? Trick question, the answer is nothing, because they aren’t real. If you’re playing for the rewards, you’re wasting your time.
‘you’ in this case is the reality of players, anet, reviewers. But people like you Randulf, you only respond to belittle, and have nothing positive to say about the game.
Which in effect is the same as saying ’don’t bother buying it’
Then don’t buy it. Why is it so hard for you to to make that decision? You obviously don’t care enough to buy it, so don’t. Nobody’s going to lose any sleep over it.
Yeah, my memory might be kitten but I can guarantee you the Quetzal Crest dropped it for me. The wiki isn’t always right; especially on new content there’s wrong info to be found, simply because people don’t know it better yet.
Cool, well I guess I’ll try it out and see if I get lucky. Better than doing nothing with them.
Went ahead and salvaged 15 trinkets yesterday (mostly rings, one amulet, two accessories). The last accessory gave me a dark ball; it was a Nomads trinket I got from living story, out of all things.
Are you certain about that? I read on the wiki that you can’t get them from Living Story rewards, which makes sense (in the context of things they’ve done before), although I’d like it if that info is incorrect, since I have absolutely no other use for them.

6. Yes the politics of a company acting like everything is dandy even when there’s a topic with 3k posts and 65k views that prove otherwise is b.s., but w/e. In the end they actually did acknowledge customers had a reasonable expectation that hadn’t been met and made a fair compromise.
I’m kinda confused about this, 3k posts vs. 7 million players total? Do you honestly think they should give a flying kitten about 3k whiny children when there are millions of people happily enjoying the game? I mean, clearly they took it as an indication that they did not make clear what to expect, and I think they made a reasonable decision in the end, but I also think you’re guilty of doing what all those 3k did, which is blowing it way out of proportion to make it seem like a lot more people care than actually do.
I don’t understand people who go around saying things like “I lost faith” in a video game.. Like, what? Seriously, what are you even talking about? If you’re tired of a game, stop playing it, but there’s no reason to be so melodramatic. Just because you got bored doesn’t mean a kitten thing. Honestly, are you even supposed to have faith in a video game studio? Do you think that “trusting” them with… something (what?) earns you some kind of reward? That you deserve something good in return? Or that they deserve your “faith” at all? It’s pure lunacy. Play games you like, don’t play games you don’t like. Pretty simple.
Literally every complaint about mentor tags boils down to “I don’t feel special anymore.” And if you got a commander tag to feel special, you’re just as bad as everyone who displays a mentor tag for exactly the same reason. The only difference is, since mentor tags are so frickin’ easy to get, nobody will feel special for having one 2 weeks from now.
Dunno what you’re talking about, I think it looks great. And to you crazies who don’t like shiny stuff.. well, the second-to-last tier is essentially the last but without the glow.
I for example have 27 characters and it will take me forever to unlock elite specialization on them even at 250 points.
So… don’t?
