No.
It seems what you all fail to understand is that they’re not going to release any info until it’s finalized. Can you take a guess why? …
ANet has a plan for releasing this information. Odds are they already have a time table for every blog post that they are trying very hard to meet. No amount of begging will cause them to deviate from that schedule. That’s the way things work in the business world.
Can work both ways. Sounds pretty lazy to neglect any given situation with absolute statements like “never rez fully dead players”. Sounds like you’re just too lazy to adapt to changing situations.
You’re delusional if you think that waiting around to be rezzed is ever better than WP’ing and running back. Distracting nearby players from their objective is detrimental to the over-arching goal, and the utilitarian option is to not demand they waste their time when you could easily resolve the problem by yourself.
I bet a program could be written to read a MIDI file and play a macro from it. Files with more than one track might be a problem, but I really have no intention of heading up any effort to create such a thing.
On another note, what could be even better is if this was a server program that multiple people could connect to and choose different parts of the same MIDI composition, so you could have a whole ensemble in the town! Synchronizing might be hard but w/e it’s all hypothetical anyway.
It’s my understanding that collections were added to test-run this exact thing.
The blog post suggests that there will be new content involved in the process. It will probably not be as much as you want.
I prefer to have my desktop and startmeny as it have been for the last 20 years, I have no need for smart-phoneish interfaces.
“Classic Shell,” mate. Check it out.
I’ve been using 8.1 at work for months, and I almost wish my desktop at home had it. But on the topic of DX12, unless OP has a couple milli in the bank, I really don’t think it’s happening.
I do enjoy that one of the dev’s character names on the forums is kitten, and in the game… something else…
, why is that word considered bad, if you don’t mind me asking? starts with a d ends with a p
My understanding is that it is insensitive toward the mentally disabled.
as for the rest, personally I know I had an issue coming out of high school. It’s become common vernacular to cuss for the youth of today (and many adults).
You’re kidding yourself if you think this is a new thing.
Regardless of the trade-ability of the new precursors, there will be an alternative method to acquiring precursors that will be considerably cheaper for everybody who has been accruing the necessary materials. Thus, demand for the old precursors will drop, and the prices must drop to match.
Yep. I see it often at world bosses. It’s all the kitten redditors who are used to saying only what they think will get them the most laughs. And teenagers who don’t understand that sex is normal and you don’t have to make an asinine joke about it every other sentence. It’s the worst when they use Say chat, because then you can’t even ignore it unless you stop looking at the screen.
But there’s really nothing that can be done about rampant immaturity online. That’s a society problem.

What’s ridiculous to me is that people are so focused on PPT despite the fact that winning in WvW means nothing. Unless there’s something I’m missing, I’ve noticed no long-term or short-term benefits of winning the round, rather, it’s purely about bragging rights, which are also meaningless given that winning in WvW indicates nothing about level of skill.

“This crafting system is an account-based activity, which means you’ll only be able to craft each precursor this way once. However, all of the currently existing precursor acquisition methods will remain intact in addition to this new acquisition method. That means that if you want a particular precursor more than once, you’ll have to fall back to the original methods of acquisition”
This suggests to me that they will in fact be obtainable via drops and Mystic Forge.
The best part is, even though legendary weapons are 3 YEARS past their expected release… they STILL aren’t coming, only a “handful” will be in the expansion… which probably means we will see 1 new GS and that’s it.
I suspect it will be at LEAST another year before we see the rest of them, if we see them at all…
Interpreting “handful” to mean fewer than a full set, despite no evidence to suggest this is what was meant. Good to see you’re as optimistic as ever.
Great idea, then let’s get butterfly wings, and eagle wings, and buffalo wings, every sodding kind of wings you can imagine, oh screw it why don’t we just transition the game into Aion Wars 2 while we’re at it??
How about no to more ugly wings and instead we get some more inspired pieces…
This is the first time I’ve had several friends actively playing the game with me, so no, I’m playing more now than I have before. But if you’re bored, don’t play. Do something else. It’s not a complicated problem.
When people are running dungeons for the 100th time, they don’t want to have to wait on people watching the cutscenes for the first time
If they’re doing it for the 100th time, why the hell are they doing story mode? There’s no reason for this.
achievement points and some exclusive rewards are gated bahind the story,
and this is the right of the customer to complain about the product especially if he explains why he doesnt like it
If you want the AP/rewards, you can deal with it and do the story. I don’t know what you aim to accomplish by complaining about it, because they’re not going to change their plans for the story just because you would have written the characters differently.
Besides that, if you’re looking for compelling story in an MMO, you’re already doing something wrong. I’m not saying it can’t happen, but when you’re supposed to be the singular hero who saved the world among a million other players experiencing the same story, don’t expect it to be superb.
And by the way, “if you don’t like it, do something else” is a perfectly valid argument. If it’s not worth the trouble to you to get the reward, you don’t deserve the reward, and you shouldn’t be doing the content. Not that ignoring NPC’s for half an hour is hard.
I don’t care one way or the other about the characters. When I do the story, I abide the shallow dialogue and follow the over-arching plot. On the whole, the characters are not very deep or complicated (big surprise, considering the game’s audience… mind you it’s rated T), but what POSSIBLE reason is there for giving a rat’s kitten about that? This is an MMO. You play an MMO to kill time and have social fun in an online fantasy world where you fight giant things. The plot is just a device to introduce progression in the environment, and there’s no sense in getting hung up on something you don’t like about it.
Feel free to continue pontificating about why the characters are bad and they should feel bad. But do be aware that nothing more is going to come of it than your average book club.
Spirit weapons are bad… Guardian elites are bad except Elite Focus… I don’t see this working.
Ascended is a fine goal even for casual players. It might take you a really, really long time, but that just means you have a reason to play for that much longer. It may seem daunting, but once you get to 500 crafting you can just start accruing materials/gold by playing the game, and eventually you’ll be able to start crafting the pieces.
Until then you would want to go exotic, I suppose, but given that a full set of exotic armor will probably run you less than 30g, that shouldn’t take terribly long.
So with the beta available now is this confirmed yet? necromancer get the greatsword? any other confirmed officially new weapons for other professions?
The beta is not available now. There was a stress test consisting mostly of the demo given at PAX/Rezzed, so there is no new information other than what could be gleaned from having a hundred people doing the demo at the same time.
Sounds cool, but way too complicated to ever make its way into GW2. Remember, this is the game where they removed cow-feeding from a side quest because it was apparently not clear enough how to do it.
I have nothing against people who want to melee on Ranger, but it should never have been allowed to make ranged obsolete.
What are you even talking about, melee has always been higher DPS than ranged, that’s just risk vs. reward. You’re free to play ranged as much as you like, but you will never see the results you can get from melee, and that’s 100% the way it should be.
Champions and Bosses were not designed to be solo’d. So there is your solution for additional ranged damage while you melee. Make a few friends.
Lol you might want to check the date on that post you quoted.
Ouch, so the old legendaries are old and un-prestige worthy?
Well what are they supposed to do, leave everyone trying to sell one of those out in the cold? I don’t think it would be a good idea to suddenly make old legendaries non-tradeable.
So, can you please not shove them down our throats?
Why is this always the complaint? Who gives a flying kitten what NPC’s are or are not with you? Nobody’s forcing you to care about them. Just do the quests and move along to whatever content actually interests you.

How anyone would think “let’s make it so that anyone who doesn’t buy HoT can only play on EB – that’ll make people super-happy and make them ALL buy HoT!” is beyond me. That would be terrible marketing.
Money > peoples feelings.
Anet are a company, As i said it’s not the best marketing tactic and i highly doubt they would do it. It is a marketing tactic nonetheless though.
You make a common mistake by forgetting that customer satisfaction is part of the equation. Doing a disservice to your customers = losing potential money, so they can’t just go waltzing around making decisions solely on projected profits.

PvE is already easy. Being able to knock enemies off cliffs would be ridiculously overpowered, because they have no way of avoiding or countering it.
That’s not really why it’s done that way. Knocking an AI enemy off a cliff into another area plays hell with leashing (which I could have sworn early one GW2 wasn’t going to use :\) and could make it impossible for the creature to reset.
That makes sense, but I’m certain what I said factored into the decision.
Where my Guardians at? Most fun class I’ve played, always useful, and gets noticeably better every time your skill improves.
(edited by Andred.1087)
and yeah they get to stay on the edge of a cliff rather than being pushed off.. balance at its finest.
PvE is already easy. Being able to knock enemies off cliffs would be ridiculously overpowered, because they have no way of avoiding or countering it.
That is more hours per day than a full-time job. I hope somebody was paying you for your time…
I am a little bothered by the level design though. … what we’ve seen so far feels like floating landforms atop unreasonably high cliffs.
We’re playing in a world with talking rats and frogs where the main focus of the story are people who came from a giant tree, and you’re concerned that the environment we’re going into doesn’t make natural sense?
(edited by Andred.1087)
does that mean that you can only choose one precursor and that’s it?.. meaning only one legendary from the new ones?
Considering ANet has said multiple times that this is not the case, I think it means you can only do each precursor once, which makes sense if they’re based partially on collections.
Lol, as always players will assume after 1-2 hours with the class they know more about it than the people who designed it from the ground up and have been testing it for months. ANet isn’t the greatest when it comes to balancing, but they’ve had much longer than any players to analyze the Revenant and refine it accordingly. Every possible balance concern you could have after playing with it for an hour, I guarantee you they’ve already thought of and addressed it.
Honestly racial skills could be great if they were just disallowed in PvP… problem solved. Who cares if they’re imba if they’re only available in PvE? Obviously it would be good to make them more or less even with each other, but again, if it’s PvE-only it really doesn’t matter that much, as long as they aren’t consistently the best options.
(edited by Andred.1087)
This is pretty much the demo they had at PAX / Rezzed, so if they’re trying to keep a lid on it, they’re doing a horrible job. That is to say, whoever told you that was 100% wrong.
Ah but you would be paying LESS gems to do that
Welcome to the micro-transaction economy!
Not if they charge gems for it.
What I see is a lot of white knighting on the forums
Pretty much lost all credibility right there.
…but what we experienced today in the HoT “beta” is nowhere even near anything I would even call a beta or an alpha.
Hmm, would you perhaps call it a “stress test?”
What we saw today was the next episode of the living story dressed up to appear like it will be expansion after some serious overhaul….
Actually, what you saw was the PAX/Rezzed demo dressed down to be a stress test.
For the Gw2 stress test betas, players were able to test “the game.” ….For the Gw2:HoT stress test beta we got a living story instance, that same living story instance made to look like an explorable map, half of a new profession, and a boss fight.
Were you even around for the GW2 stress tests? I recall being able to test a small subset of the game for about 2 hours.
I also got an email from twitch.
Guess it’s a good thing my gw2 email and my twitch email aren’t the same email. Nor are the passwords.
Yeah it’s also a good thing they encrypted the passwords so it wouldn’t matter if they were the same…
Thief is squishy melee, definitely not for everyone.
Guardian will never let you down, it’s enjoyable all the time.
Ranger is great if you like your profession mechanic being useless.
There is a lot of promise with this class! At it’s current state, it’s not ready.
Really? In the first beta test? It’s not ready? Shocking.

not true at all.
My Guardian would like a word with you. What’s that Guardian? Your only options are shouts or meditations? Interesting.

I got bored after 5 minutes, there’s literally nothing to do.
Obviously you didn’t do the stress tests for the original release. What were you even expecting? A grand welcome party and a laundry list of content to do? Maybe a parade in your honor?
Really? No CD on switching legends? And it resets your energy to 50 every time? Or does it scale down if you do it too quickly?
Everyone talking about modern engines seems to be forgetting that GW2 was built on a modified version of the GW1 engine. Obviously it will not have the features of more recent engines, and to suggest that ANet should invest exorbitant time and money in completely replacing a satisfactory engine is ridiculous.
So sad, guess you’ll just have to keep accessing all of those services for free in LA.
Also if you’re waiting for your pay check to get something worth $12, you might want to reconsider frivolous cash shop purchases.

It would be sad that the only pet profession of the game suddenly lose it’s pet… Well whatever, there will be alway people wanting the “archer” archetype class to be the GW2 ranger. (Which he is not
)
It would be sad for the only profession in the game that has a completely useless special mechanic to get something better? It doesn’t have anything to do with people wanting an “archer” class, it’s about pets being utterly broken and a waste of a profession mechanic.
So, what, is LFG also not designed for just forming a group for no particular reason? I don’t see any way that can be enforced. You can just not say you’re selling it and let people give tips.
I’d like to hear the return of the GW1 themes!
I have the entire GW1 soundtrack, and it’s just so memorable
-Chris
Doubt that will ever happen. Surely the agreement that ANet had with the original composers over the GW1 music does not include using it in GW2, and securing such an arrangement would entail quite a bit of legal work, I would imagine.
When our company president said we have an anti-grind philosophy way back before Gw2 shipped, and when it has been repeatedly reinforced since then, our statement is simply: “We don’t think you should need to grind to get the best gear and stats in Guild Wars 2”.
So what exactly does that mean:
- The best gear/stats: This means to have statistically the best abilities in the game, you shouldn’t need to, by our definition of the word, grind. This goes for leveling and getting top gear (by our definition that’s ascended gear, legendary being an optional extra thing you can do, but don’t need to do.
I don’t think there’s any ambiguity about that.
About as much ambiguity as there is in the fact that you don’t need to grind to get ascended. You can choose to, if you want to get it exceptionally fast, but as long as we’re throwing around quotes and arguing about semantics, anyone who still thinks they’re going against their word might want to re-read it until they understand what he meant by “need to,” i.e. there is no other way, e.g. working on it slowly over a long period as you simply play whatever you want q.e.d.

My point is that it isn’t trivial to implement a guild rename contract: there are lots of design decisions and no good way to help guilds manage the inevitable and awkward social aspects.
So it’s a high-cost, high-risk feature, with only limited appeal. I think it’s unlikely to get a green light.
So, changing one database field isn’t trivial? Right… (and if it’s not that easy, it’s their own fault for making terrible design choices)
And who cares if guilds can’t manage the “inevitable and awkward social aspects?” It’s none of ANet’s concern what stupid drama goes on inside guilds. That’s gonna be happening one way or another. If the guild leader wants to change the name, he/she should be able to do so at will; everyone else can deal with it.
I believe this is what they were trying to achieve in the patch, which resulted in the bug.
