I’d really like it to be no more than $40; given the amount of content it looks like we’re getting, I’m having trouble believing it’s even worth that, but they could easily get away with $40 so why not go for it?
(edited by Andred.1087)
It probably wouldn’t be that hard, but clearly the difficulty is beyond what it’s worth to ANet to do it, which is pretty much nothing, since they would make no money on it.
I noticed this over the weekend as well. Thought I was going crazy!
The Break-bar, or how to commit to mechanics
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Andred.1087
As such, bosses should take existing game mechanics into account, or the presence of such mechanics in the game is invalidated.
I fail to see how the break bar does not qualify as taking existing game mechanics into account. You speak as though CC is worthless in the face of defiance, when in fact it does have an affect. And you acknowledge yourself that letting an entire mob of players endlessly stun-lock a boss is bad, but you have not offered any alternative solutions. You can’t make your entire post “devs did a bad job” without explaining how you would do it differently and why that’s any better.
The break bar is essentially a rip off of Final Fantasy 13’s break bar.
Yeah, and the HP bar is totally a rip off of the first game that had HP bars. I can’t believe how unoriginal this game is… /s
But you don’t HAVE to be 500 crafting to get the gear..
Well, I suppose you’re right, but weapon/armor chests are very rare, and even rarer you’ll get the one you want. I generally don’t even consider them when talking about ascended gear.
Because if you could buy it, you wouldn’t be required to have 500 crafting to get it. It’s supposed to be something that, when you see someone with it, you know they at least had to reach max crafting in that discipline. Even if you buy all the materials to make it, there’s no cutting corners around the crafting requirement.
That’s my understanding anyway.
EDIT: Forgot about weapon/armor chests, which I suppose are the reason this topic was created… idk, it’s supposed to be something special, not something you can just buy. Obviously not the same logic they applied to Legendaries, but don’t look at me, I didn’t make the game.

When my old Razer headset was giving me trouble, I followed this simple 2-step guide for guaranteed success:
1. Throw it away
2. Get headphones instead
Honestly though, if what you’ve described didn’t work, I don’t know what else there is to try. I’m pretty sure GW2 also has an option for selecting your audio devices, so maybe check there and make sure it’s what you want. Perhaps specifically selecting the Kraken there will do the trick. I seem to remember having to do something like this back when I had my Megalodon. But I’ve long since given up on Razer products; every one I’ve had has barely outlived the warranty.
Meta for PvE will still be Zerker. I’m confident of that. Though you might as well wait and see at this point. It won’t hurt anyway.
Remember when they said you won’t kill the same boss twice and that events don’t repeat? Anet has a way of saying something that really isn’t how things are.
Do enlighten us on how to make an MMO where you don’t kill the same boss twice and events don’t repeat. Oh, what’s that? You’re just twisting their words to support your own point? I had a feeling.
RNG is just that: random. And there is no perceiveable difference between true random and pseudo random generation.
This. Just because it’s not “true random” doesn’t mean it can’t be sufficiently close that you won’t be able to tell. In fact, any good software RNG will will have the proper mechanisms to achieve this, e.g. re-seeding with a unique value, like the current date/time.

It’s borderlining on being a dishonest scam.
I lol’ed out loud.
I’m not sure what your definition of “slowly” is but it seems to not align at all with mine. I’ve always been satisfied with the responsiveness of the camera, and though I’m not at my computer to test it right now, I’m straining to think of any way that can be described as “slow.”
And that’s why key runners run keys instead of buying them. I have no idea what the percentage of the BL weapon skins are from key runners, but I bet it’s most of them.
Yeah, those skins wouldn’t be nearly as cheap if most of the sellers had gotten them by spending their money/gold on the keys.
GW2 support was busy even before this patch. I submitted a ticket a couple weeks ago and the autoreplier was even kind enough to tell me that they were busy. And they just got back to me yesterday. So, just wait a little bit.
(edited by Andred.1087)
The issue is however, the fact that GW2 seems to turn more and more into the “how to make the most money with the least effort” project.
That’s the entire goal of every business, just so you’re aware. Customer satisfaction is just another part of the equation.
Also dungeons are probably done regularly by <5% of players. As much as I’m sure there are people at ANet who want to see more dungeons, there’s just not a whole lot of incentive to do it.
That said, it has been said they intend to bring “difficult group content” with the expansion, whatever that means, and people have been speculating for a while about this raid expert they brought onto the team a little while ago. So take that how you will.
I think there needs to be a place for easy access to gear that is separate from the inventory. I don’t mind having to keep it in my inventory, since it only makes sense for it to take up space if I’m carrying it around, but trying to swap out weapons, for instance, from the inventory is annoying, specifically when swapping a 2h in for two 1h, and having the off-hand go to the first empty slot in my inventory.
1) What do you do / think is the best thing to do with those unwanted boxes?
2) What were the reasons to make asc. boxes accound bound? What would be advantages/disadvantages of making them sellable?
1) Idk, hold onto them for now, I guess, since they aren’t nearly as prevalent as the rings. Maybe they’ll eventually make the equipment salvageable, or at least provide some other option of what to do with them.
2) I would guess one of the reasons was to force players to reach 500 crafting before they can get ascended gear. While you can buy the T7 materials to make it, you still need to have the crafting level.
Gaile said it’s being fixed. I’m not sure how they’ll deal with the achievement chests, especially if people have opened them and used any consumables.
I definitely think it needs to be addressed for the GWAMM titles, because that’s no joke and people shouldn’t have that title if they didn’t put in the monumental effort required to get it. I’ve noticed a few more people displaying it over the last few days than I’ve seen before…
I’ve had very few bugs so far, and it looks like most of the issues people are having are fixed now. No need to stop playing…
Lol, am I missing something? Why is everyone hating on wings?
They’re gross and unimaginative, and yet guaranteed that loads of people will buy them every time. They’re the worst kind of fad.
Anet more wing please.
Something inside me just died from thinking about that.
Nope. FPV was created just to enjoy the scenery without any UI distraction, or characters.
Uh huh, why add the shake effect then, why make it so we see those blurs? remove those blurs, they take away from the “scenery”.
Because they didn’t add the effects. All they did was move the camera in some and make it so you don’t see your own character model, presumably including the weapons. I imagine it would be considerably harder to figure out how to make it show the weapons but not anything else, and even if it’s not, they didn’t put FPV in for fighting.
Will this also be a feature of HoT?
What? Gear you can only have if you buy the content? What do you think?
Anet has avoided putting out anything to fix the chat filters or random stuff coming from your character? seriously what the actual kitten anet?
Yeah, they definitely have a fix ready and are actively refusing to push it out…
I expect they will be introducing a new set of specializations with each future expansion, and probably, as you suggest, not create any more professions. Though it would be pretty cool to see new professions, it becomes more and more work to add a new one with each set of specs they release, since any profession they add would need to have as many specializations as the ones existing already.
Yes, the forums were built by horrible contractors who didn’t finish the job. That means if they ever want to see it fixed, they need to hire more contractors to do it.
It would be nice of them to give us a list of specs. Just the names (and preferably a planned order of blog reveal). That would fuel a few threads full of guesses as to what the specs will actually do
What good would that do? I would actually hate that, because there’s already way too much pointless speculation around here. Speculation offers nothing but a useless way to occupy the mind, trying to discern things that are already decided but not revealed.
??? Are you referring to those god-awful squares that were obviously not supposed to look that way in the first place? Also they weren’t unique to legendaries, but any weapon with an aura effect. I assume it was the result of trying to apply the petrified effect to the to aura particles.
(edited by Andred.1087)
Honestly you should just turn off double-tap to dodge and bind a button for it. It will take a little time to get yourself out of the habit of doing it, but it’s really for the best.
I’ll probably buy or craft exotic zerk initially, and until then I’ll save up materials for ascended gear and just wait until people start figuring out builds for it (I might want to use it as my mainly-PvP toon) before I craft a set.
Presentation is everything? I don’t know about you, but I’m not still thinking about the presentations. I’m thinking about the content, which is what everyone will be doing when it comes out. Nobody’s going to be looking at the new WvW map and thinking, “Yeah this is OK and all, but do you remember how bad the presentation for this was? I think I’ll go do something else.”
I haven’t found my evil twin, but I once found another Guardian at Tequatl with almost exactly the same mixed-and-matched armor and color scheme as me. We had a nice little chat, then somehow we both got DC’d and ended up duoing south boats for most of the fight.
Fair warning, Mesmer is often considered a mostly utility class. It’s still pretty good in PvE though.
I always have to recommend Guardian. Been maining that since launch and I still love it.
The question is: Could playing in a NA server while in EU be the source of the problem? would it be recomended to transfer to an EU server in order to achieve optimal performance ?
1000% yes.
Idk but it looks gross the way it is right now. I hope they are able to address all the issues people are having in the next couple days, because this patch is a PR nightmare.
I hope each and every one of you have to one day live while crippled … this is unacceptable.
There it is folks! The mask slips!
Unless both of them are trolls working together. In which case, bravo!
Get over yourself. You might stand idly by while someone with a disability is grossly mistreated and abused in a public forum, but I won’t. This isn’t a kittening joke.
I’m appalled at how insensitive you people are. OP said they had a minor panic attack over this, and you’re all brushing it off like it’s nothing. Shame on all of you! This is not how you talk to people with disabilities! I hope each and every one of you have to one day live while crippled by something outside of your control. Maybe then you’ll understand why this is unacceptable.
People are just blown away someone had a panic attack over something so incomprehensibly insignificant. You say the problem is people being insensitive, I say the problem is people being hypersensitive.
The PROBLEM is people like YOU not understanding that disabilities are a REAL STRUGGLE and you can’t just blow them off because YOU’RE not affected by them!
You probably never learned that, because our society is still heavily stacked against those with disabilities, but that’s something that has to change. Have you ever considered that the reason the world seems hypersensitive now is that it was unacceptably insensitive before?

An easy way to avoid this is to not include offline people when figuring up the 50% requirement… which might already be the way it works.
I’m not sure if you understand how the real world works. If they could have fixed it by now, do you think they wouldn’t have?
I would wager a guess that most places they don’t want you climbing up to (aside from exploits) are places where you would be able to see beyond the carefully-crafted illusion of the game world. Maps in video games are as minimal as they can be (for what the devs want), and if players can gain access to places where they see the endless void behind the curtain, it’s just tacky. Since they can’t make an infinite world for the players to explore, they have to put up boundaries that prevent them from reaching the places that break the illusion.
Nice letter. Could stand to have a little more hyperbole, though. It’s not quite at 100% yet.
Maybe I can help you get a grip on reality. You paid for a product that is repeatedly changing. If you expect it to never be broken, you’re a fool. The fact that they’ve gone this long without such a disastrous slew of bugs is pretty impressive, but all you care about is that you can’t play ONE video game right now. I assume, then, you don’t have anything else to do with your life, since you are so distraught over these bugs. Maybe you should try going outside? I’ve heard it can be quite relaxing.

You guys having sleep problems and muscle pains… how much do you play in a normal sitting? I’d recommend toning it down a bit.
I really like this idea! And since the GW2 engine is based on the GW1 engine, it might be relatively easy to port the animations over to the new models. Of course I’m just guessing here, and I’m sure there are differences between the systems that would need to be reconciled, but I would love to see it happen.
I imagine Charr might be a little problematic though…
Umm.. you must be mistaken, because you don’t get the listing fee back when you cancel. It’s always been that way.
I think they mostly intended the first-person mode to be for screenshots. GW2 is a game where you really need to be paying attention to what’s around you in order to do well in combat, so first-person is going to be pretty much objectively worse for that, no matter what they do.
The green text and downed state health might be for St. Patrick’s day maybe?
This. Though I really hope you’re wrong. I hadn’t imagined they could be any lazier for a celebration, but this is just beyond pointless.

“Play how you want…but it must be this way or else!”
“Play how you want” isn’t license to do anything you want and expect it to work out.

One decimal place is ok, two starts getting into the limitations of IEEE floats and the calls to the API get turned into nonsense.
Might I recommend doubles…
