This isn’t a demand for more information simply a request for more information.
FTFY.
I’ll tell you what I tell everybody. Get over it. Do you seriously not have anything better to do in your day than wonder what’s going on at ArenaNet right now? And do you really think they care if you’re not satisfied with the information they release? Nobody who’s already set on buying the expansion is going to suddenly change their mind because they’re unhappy about not knowing everything about it right now. Furthermore, having more information about the expansion is worth absolutely nothing. The only reason you and others are continually asking for this is that you’re impatient and, for whatever reason, believe you deserve to have more info. And what if you get it? Will that make you happy? Or will you just ask for more?
This is a L2W issue, i.e. “Learn 2 Wait”
Dailies are ridiculously easy to finish every day, if you’re not willing to put in 20-minutes of low effort for 10 AP then you don’t deserve it. But that’s true of every single reward in the game. If you don’t want to do the work, you don’t get the reward, and you really shouldn’t get to complain about it either. Who actually cares if you don’t like the dailies? Nobody is making you do them or not. It’s entirely your choice.

I’ve gotten a few ascended weapon chests, and I don’t think I’ve ever gotten an ascended armor drop. And I have full ascended gear of the stats I wanted. Take a guess how I got it…
As unethical and sick as this is, it is exactly what I’d expect of this company.
Wtf are you even talking about? If you think a company is doing something “unethical” why are you supporting them? Or could it be -gasp- valueless hyperbole??
(edited by Andred.1087)
Perhaps each race will get it’s own special channeled legend instead.
This seems most realistic to me.
Nobody was “crying full support” here, really.
People fail to read.
I assume you’re talking about yourself, since a careful read of the OP will show the purpose of the post is to suggest changes that will help people who try to run full support rather than fighting normally and getting full credit. That, or to just talk about healing without making any points or posing any real questions.
(edited by Andred.1087)
Or people could just learn the game and stop trying to go full support… You should be getting equal rewards for events if you’re doing an equal amount of fighting. Is this not the case?
Sadly thats what most of this game boils down to nowadays :/
Might I recommend trying a low-salt diet… seriously you can get BiS stats and loads of cool skins with minimal RNG, not sure what your complaint is about.
Looking at the post history of negative forum posters is very informative. Most of them rarely have anything nice to say.
that doesn’t mean that what they say isn’t true…
forums are here to express concern and criticism.
No, the forums are here for discussion. Concern and criticism are a part of that discussion, although they usually serve little purpose in this medium, as anybody with the cognitive skills to produce a barely-coherent sentence can come give their half-baked “criticism” and demand it be addressed, as if they’re experts on the subject matter or are otherwise entitled to any kind of official recognition. Frankly I think it’s a mistake that ANet has ever used the forums as a two-way communication medium with the players, as now they get kitteny whenever the staff doesn’t respond, even if it’s an issue that is clearly at the bottom of the company’s priorities.
Most of the negative people around here have nothing valuable to say. Non-constructive criticism is useless to ANet, and serves only to foster poisonous dialogue in the community. If you have a legitimate concern about the game, you can voice it in a constructive way. If you can’t do that, then the problem is not the game.
The skin should be unlocked in your Wardrobe now, so you can apply it to other back pieces at will for the cost of one transmutation charge, and you have one free use with the skin in your inventory.
If all I had to do for my job was show up once a day, I’d be a much happier person.
I have also noticed no recent deviation in the levels of social ineptitude clogging the chat during world bosses. If anything, I expect it will soon be increasing, as the people who bought the game during recent sales will be reaching the point where they can do all the bosses.
There is no reason to believe the RNG isn’t working correctly. It’s one of the simplest parts of the entire game, and is likely a built-in function in the framework they’re using. Once again, statistical outliers do exist, and do not indicate any problem with the system, no matter how badly you want your case to be special.
Or you and everyone who won’t shut up about hype could just realize there’s more to life than GW2…
Just increase the hype because otherwise, all this work will be for nothing.
Yeah, nothing except the metric tons of money they’re going to get from expansion sales.
(edited by Andred.1087)
Yep. Across the board for online games, forum users account for a minuscule percentage of the players. It’s so frustrating to see people on here complaining about how “ANet never listens to the players!!” when they fail to see that the discrepancy lies in their belief that the consensus on the forums is representative of the entire player-base, rather than the tiny percentage of players who felt strongly enough about a given issue to come voice their thoughts about it.
ANet sees a much bigger picture than any of us, and if you’ve ever worked in a similar environment, you can easily understand how things must work over there. Business is a slow process, there are a lot of people to satisfy, and they do have their own vision for the game that they want to see manifest. It all comes down to money, although we must not forget that customer satisfaction is no small part of that equation.
The people who consistently complain about this game really need to discover some more things to do in life. I treat video games as nothing more than entertainment. Something to be enjoyed. If you don’t enjoy it, you’re wasting your time continuing to engage in it. You wouldn’t keep watching a TV show you don’t like, so why would you keep playing a game you don’t enjoy? It’s all about priorities, really, and until you reach a certain point in your life, you’ll have a difficult time understanding that. Namely, the point at which you have to start providing for your own sustenance, i.e. get a job.
And then there’s the argument that if you really care about the game, you should be invested in making it better. That’s a pretty poor argument, really, and most often it is used to veil an unwarranted sense of entitlement, the notion that you, as the player, deserve more than what you have received. However, I guarantee that if you simply try to enjoy what is, rather than dispute what should be, you will never find yourself dissatisfied with the game. Could it be better? Absolutely. Should you care? Never. Again, if you don’t like it, you’re free to do something else. If you do like it, just take it for what it is. Follow this simple rule, and you will never be disappointed.

Will we get new pets? Highly unlikely.
Nonsense. I’m certain they’ll add new pets. I’m also certain they won’t do anything about the horrendous AI that makes them utterly useless in PvE.
Is anyone else bummed that there is so much lore and information on these frog people?
Nope, I have real-life concerns that far outweigh the pettiness of being bothered by a video game not going in the direction that I want it to. I strongly recommend you stop giving a kitten about it and just enjoy it for what it is, i.e. exactly what the developers want it to be.
For instance, why don’t you try to appreciate the dichotomy between the ways the Itzel and the Nuhoch approach life? There’s actually a lot you can glean from their worldviews that can be applied to your life, if you even bother to look.
(edited by Andred.1087)
Also nice title for this thread, it’s a lot less obvious than “let’s make a kitteny list of things we don’t like for the X00th time”
(edited by Andred.1087)
id have to say pushing HoT while failing to deliver any content in the mean time is a very questionable and risky decision i personaly know at least 15 players who have droped out and at least 4 of those have stated they will not return
Lol are you for real, they’re going to get kittenloads of revenue from the expansion, and they’re already raking in money from recent sales on the base game. How is this a questionable decision in the slightest? Because you know 15 people who decided they had something better to do with their time than stay committed to one game that you can stop playing and come back to at zero cost?
I wonder if they could add a LFG filter to only show parties in your current map instance… seems like that would be pretty handy.
Do you really think they don’t know this? Or they just don’t feel like doing it? Have you any remote idea how much effort would have to go into what you’re talking about? Even beyond storyboarding and artwork and modeling and programming and testing and iterating, there’s a whole business side of it that most people never even think about, and that alone would take months to mobilize.
I do really want to see these things in the game as well, but you need to be aware of what you’re asking, and that ANet is hard at work on something new, something that wasn’t in GW1, which I think should always be priority. We got the experience from GW1, and it was great. Now we can have a new experience, the GW2 experience, and that’s what ANet is trying to bring us now.
(edited by Andred.1087)
If it’s pointless to you, don’t do it. I like the extra rewards and easy 10 AP, so I usually do it.
I really like the Itzel’s approach to life. It’s the only way to be truly happy.
This is exactly why login rewards were a terrible idea. Basically richer people can camp multiple accounts and mess up the market.
“Richer people” lol are you for real? It’s like $10 when it’s on sale
I probably get about as much silk in a day as ore/wood. Obviously there is a disparity in that you can freely gather ore and wood, whereas cloth must be salvaged, but the amount of silky cloth gear that gets dropped by doing Tequatl alone is pretty decent.
As someone else has said, the issue is not that cloth costs too much because it’s hard to get, but simply that ore/wood are much easier to get, and so they cost less. Also, cloth is required for all ascended armor, whereas ore and leather are only needed for one weight class each.
In any case, the cost of ascended armor is reasonable where it stands, which is why ANet is not doing anything to change it. Does light armor cost more? Yes. Is that a problem? Not intrinsically. That’s supply and demand. Ascended isn’t supposed to be cheap, it’s supposed to be time-consuming to acquire.
People will be outraged for the sake of outrage, because it gives them a reason to feel like they’re better than their peers. The Internet is truly an anthropologist’s playground.
It’s been fairly quiet for a couple months now and we’re starting to lose our players again.
As if they won’t all come running back when the expansion drops.
Seriously you people need to chill. I don’t know what you’ve got in your heads that makes you think you deserve more information ASAP. Your knowledge of the expansion has no bearing on when it will be released or what content will be in it. It is purely selfish to desire that information, as the only purpose served in knowing it is self-satisfaction. And even then, you’ll get annoyed in 2 weeks if they don’t give more info that you specifically want to see.
ANet has a plan for releasing the info. They’ve probably worked out the entire thing by now, up to the last blog post. But there is no sense in talking about it. You’ll just have to exercise some patience. Is that too much to ask?
I find Guardian to be very active play. Having access to so many blinds and blocks requires you to use them carefully, so you can mitigate as many hits as possible. Also your F1 blind can stack group might and recharge on kill if traited properly, making it glorious when fighting groups of weaker mobs.
I’ve never played Warrior, so I can’t really speak to how it compares. But what I’ve heard other people say is Guardian is more challenging but more fun, and I can definitely vouch that it is challenging and fun (to play max DPS anyway).
Given everything you’ve listed, I think Guardian is exactly what you want. I’ve mained Guardian since launch, and I can tell you that they’re great for PvE, very useful in dungeons, can be spec’d for high damage, and are far from boring. Let me know if you have any specific questions about the class.
When was the last time you checked? They added a 25-point healing skill to every class a while back.
He had 100 skillpoints. Now he has 2 skillpoints and one 25 skillpoint unlock left.
Given the title of the thread, I assumed that sentence was simply not complete.
oh it does? whoops my bad, but i did get rolled back because i had every skill unlocked with 100 skillpoints now i have 2 and one 25 skillpoint unlock to go..
When was the last time you checked? They added a 25-point healing skill to every class a while back.
Umm, what?
Pay attention to your gear while leveling. If it gets more than 10 levels below you, it should probably be upgraded. Fortunately you’ll get a decent bit of level-appropriate gear from loot. Just keep an eye on it. If you feel underpowered, it’s probably old gear.
DPS is generally more valuable in PvE than anything else. As you’re leveling, you should be fine just using the gear you get along the way, but keep in mind that Power is a great stat to invest in for PvE.
Active defenses are paramount to your survival. Dodge, block, blind, anything that prevents you from taking a hit or reduces incoming damage is better than just eating it and trying to recover.
Speaking of which, do yourself a favor and turn off “double-tap to evade” before you get used to it. Unless you really, really like it.. but it limits your ability to position yourself precisely, so I would highly recommend binding dodge to a single button.
That’s all I can really think of for now. I main Guardian, so if you have any questions specifically about that, feel free to add me in-game! I’m Eastern time zone, mostly on for Teq at server reset and then dailies.
As I see it, the only way spirit weapons will ever be useful is if minion AI is updated to not suck miserably.
You’d be surprised how many gamers don’t bother with software firewalls such as zone alarm
Wow .. i remember Zonealarm was popular maybe 15 years ago .. don’t know if it
even still exists. All in all those firewalls did maybe more harm than that they really helped against
anything. It still exists today. And I’ve ran ZA, Spybot, Malwarebytes, Avast/AVG (alternatively) for years, never been hacked, never had an account stolen in WoW, GW, or any other game.
??? Who the hell is trying to hack people’s MMO accounts with viruses when it’s just as easy to get them to hand you the credentials on a platter?
I read a thread about the supposition that what if GW2 turns into subscription?
and literally everyone on the thread, not even one exception, answered they’d leave and don’t look back until it’s not subscription again, saying they’d play WOW or etc
This is incorrect, as I did not answer so.
And it’s hardly a fair comparison. GW2 doesn’t have the same amount of content you would see in an MMO with a sub, because it doesn’t have a sub. The game would surely be different if it did, and so it’s difficult to speculate about what it would be like, whether the same people would play it, etc.
(edited by Andred.1087)
All this talk of “principle” is hogwash. I used to feel similarly about sub fees… when I was in high school… $15/mo (for instance) is negligible if you have any kind of income.
That said, I don’t know that I would keep playing. I do play every day, but I have little compelling me to continue. It’s entertainment, and I’m sure I could easily find something to replace it if I found that the cost was not worth what I get from it. But again, that price is less than I spend on lunch most Fridays, so it’s quite acceptable for something I get enjoyment out of on a daily basis.
As for what would happen, though… as many others have said, MMO players tend to be, er… yeah ~16/yo, insecure, highly opinionated… I think many would quit the game just because they think hating sub fees makes them smarter than WoW players.
Anyway, just look at all the MMO’s lately that came out with subs but had to go F2P inside of a year. Now imagine they started F2P and then went sub… sounds disastrous.
I don’t see anything wrong with stuff being exclusive. It adds more meaning to it. You know they’re going to keep making more, so instead of being frustrated about missing out on something, why don’t you look forward to the next thing?
Forum is broken because contractors did a bad job. Nobody at ANet can fix it, so they’re probably going to eventually just scrap it and switch to a new forum software.
Staff Elementalist.
Properly traited, this is top ranged DPS. Reliably 20+ might and near-constant uptime on Fire #2 which is AoE.
I personally would like some goal to work on, because this “break” is rather… boring.
Maybe you should work on having more things to do than GW2…
is it really worth all that gold just for a 5% increase in total stats???
No. Most of the ascended sets are much cheaper.
Congrats! Your accolades will be in the mail shortly. They must be signed for by you and you alone, so please, go stand outside by your mailbox and wait there until they arrive.
I’m impressed that this is only the 19th topic with the title “mounts” (stripped of non-letters, judging by the URL). I would have expected more.
This is priceless.
Wow that’s crazy
Unfortunately, ANet simply does not have the personnel to do an overhaul of the game engine like Blizzard. It would be really nice to see, but I doubt it will ever happen.
How can this imbalance have been allowed for so long? And when will it be fixed?
This is crazy!
There’s nothing to “fix” here. It’s supply and demand. Economics 101. Because Damask is needed for every kind of ascended armor, it is in much higher demand, and thereby has a higher price. While it does have to do with the changes made to the recipes involving silk, and the unreliable way of gathering cloth, ANet can’t just tweak these things whenever people are unhappy. The current system is working rather well.
(edited by Andred.1087)
What ArenaNet should have done is to design maps on such way that we dont need stuff like invisible obstacles/walls.
It’s so simple, how could they have not thought of this
1 new one per weapon. All obtained from crafting.
We aren’t getting 1 new one per weapon at launch though. They already confirmed that. My question is which ones do you think we are getting?
Where exactly did they confirm this? All I read was that this “handful” would be coming first, and that they were making more than just one new set in the future. That does not say anything about not having a full set come with HoT, if they consider a full set to be a “handful” in comparison to the future set(s) they want to make.
