Powerful Synergy - Trait not working

I know I’m not the first to discover this and I haven’t seen any discussion on it since Warriors are so unpopular at the moment. But I just wanted to point out that the GM trait Powerful Synergy from the Tactics trait line appears to be broken.

I have tried it using the Axe finisher and I have heard of others testing this using sword leap skill. This trait appears to yield absolutely no effect.

Could you guys take a look at this skill and see if it’s bugged/glitched and if the dev’s are aware of this.

warrior noob with a question: since anet balances across the board instead of splitting game modes do you expect warriors to get a pretty big buff to bring them back into the pvp meta? I have one of each class but have been floating between mains for a while so i’m curious.

ANet generally is subtle with their balance. I’d say that they’re more likely to be too soft handed than to be too heavy handed with balance changes, even though there are some over-the-top nerfs/buffs from time to time.

That being said, I’m pretty sure we’ll see some sort of warrior buffs in the next balance patch. Just be aware that they may buff some useless skill that are still useless after the buffs instead of making changes that actually make warriors viable. A great example of this happening is thieves getting buffs to venoms, lol.

Either way, the ANet gods do as the ANet gods want. While warriors will almost certainly be strong in PvP again, it’s hard to say how long it will be until that happens…

ANet generally is subtle with their BUFFS. fixt

The only real counter to stealth is “Revealed” which has limited availability to most classes.. and the classes with access to this anti buff (Rangers) has very very limited access.

Solution… damage over times and physical damage should break stealth. Easy fix…

I beg to differ… I don’t see anything amazing about Guild Wars 2.

Story
In Guild Wars 2 is not even that great. To even compare the two are like comparing Elder Scrolls Skyrim to Elder Scrolls Online… its not even close. GW1 story had so many depth and layers.

Combat
This is debatable in terms of what people prefer. However, one thing is evidently clear. Guild Wars 1 combat system was much more diverse and fun. Look at all the people these days that ragequit due to balancing changes. How many players do you know quit Guild Wars 1 because of balancing? There were an infinite number of builds.. even if they nerfed your favorite build there were so many other ways to play your class it didn’t really matter.

I do not understand your implications by your statement. We all know this is not WoW, we have all purchased the product.

Stealth in this game is broken and needs to be fixed. I hope that thieves are compensated accordingly, but stealth as it is is a little game breaking as it stands.

Alright alright… since everyone wants to make this personal. I enjoy the fact they are ferocious, driven, although they are no strangers to order. I feel that at their root they are savages. I also like the irony that although they are beast-like creatures, they have a sense of superiority from the other races. They know what they are capable of.. They may not have the scientific advances or mental capacity of the Asura, but they are more practical. They are problem solvers and they do not back down from resistance.

I guess when you really look at it.. I just almost everything about the charr. However, I am more of a fan of the old school charr. These new age charr are a bit too silly for my taste, which is part of the reason I favor the flame legion. I do not agree with the alliance agreement they have with the humans, or any other races.

To the OP..

I think you misunderstand the critics. A lot of complaints are from LONG time fans of the franchise. I have been a huge fan of arena net since the launch of Guild Wars 1. I constantly provide support to arena net with money out of MY pocket. I tend to think that arena net values its fan base.. let alone fans who fiscally contribute to their success.

I have a hard time logging on these days and playing the game for hours at a time. Yet, I still check the forums almost everyday and still browse for some cool stuff to purchase from the gem store. I try to find new ways to play the game and to enjoy the characters I have built and created. As was said earlier, do not discredit others because you are a casual player who enjoy playing casually. MMO’s have a history of being for the long term players. Trust me when I say that when all of the hardcore players decide to stop playing the game.. this game will surely die.

With all due respect, the hardcore players opinions should be heard and respected or else the game you claim to love so much will start to die.. once that happens the game becomes a LOT less fun…

It was more than just stats. Almost everything about Guild Wars 1 (except the graphics) were better.

If half of the community left back to play Guild Wars 1, I would probably follow. Guild Wars 2 just does not have the depth of its predecessor… I am glad that it has made ANET a ton of money but I am afraid that the Guild Wars franchise is just a shadow of its former self.

I noticed in the “Rate your Charr” screenshot thread that there were a lot of players who chose more of a Flame Legion theme. I turn into a gigantic nerd everytime I come across a charr who looks like they could represent the Flame Legion.

If anyone else is interested, I think it would be completely tight to run some dungeons, fractals, spvp or whatever with what looks like a warband of sort embracing the flame legion theme.

If any players are interested, post to this thread. Maybe we can add each other, exchange vent info etc.. Regardless, I admit that I am a racist (at least while playing on my charr). Also, I would love to play with other charr like me. =)

I agree with everything that you said. Strength is always an important fact. But not only are Charr strong, but they are extremely ruthless, and bred for combat. A fight is not the same thing as an arm wrestling contest.

^ Berserker has no vitality. There is not much difference between Assassin’s and Berserker’s gear, just a trade of precision and power. If your trait distribution is low in Curses, Assassin’s is better, I think, so that you can crit more often but it is still just as squishy a set of armor as Berserker’s.

Carrion and Valkyrie are less squishy and contain vitality. Carrion is for conditionmancers. Valkyrie is for a hybrid power/condi build because it practically requires a bunch of precision from stats and trinkets.

He is referring to the sPvP trinket. Berserker has vitality.. you didnt read the post. :P

- Burst skills were made to be used and combined with other weapon sets.
- Mobile weapons were meant to be damaged while being mobile.
- Adrenaline was resource meant to be gained and used during battle.

Not really sure how this doesn’t make any sense to you.

“To land ANY crucial skill, you need to spend a time and effort (timing/forcing dodges) and/or setup skill use (CC cooldowns) to ensure your skill lands. The risk is that your skill may miss, and you use up it’s cooldown.

That is the entire point.. that is whats supposed to happen. You go on to talk about high reward vs extreme risk. That’s not an extreme risk.. its a miss.. just as if you missed with any other skill…

All classes who miss certain skills are punished for it. That is how it is supposed to be.. this isn’t just a punishment only warriors endure.

Rangers are punished if they miss with their dazes, knockbacks, stealth, and burst. Necros are punished for missing his marks. All classes are punished for misusing their stun breakers, or conditon removal.

I understand your point but this is not gamebreaker and only forces you to play better.

This is the reason why I hate bunker based players and the mentality that goes along with it. People expect to be rewarded for lacking the ability to play the class properly.

The meta is changing… accept it and adapt. These changes are for the better…

I don’t really see the problem. Seems pretty fun to me. I mean a backstab thief can do a bunch of damage too and they don’t need to sit there for 2.5 seconds.

It’s true that you may have a hard time dodging the whole thing. But even if you dodge it partially, the damage goes down the toilet.

It IS fun to fight other bow rangers though, lol. It’s not really OP; many classes have builds than can kill you before you can blink. People just don’t know how to fight against rangers atm, because most probably haven’t come across many that can fight back.

Also, try taking a zerker/ranger runes build into a zerg for some real fun.

Exactly, people look at the speed and think its automatically a buff because its now faster. The other side is as you mentioned. before you could not dodge the entire burst.

Now if you dodge or LOS any part of the burst you basically avoid almost the entire burst damage.

In reference to your previous post. I was rebutting that your burst should not be used at random and should be setup accordingly. Timing is the best way to counter the “easy to avoid” arguement.

Your rebuttle in summary were basically that all burst were not haymakers. I did not go into detail with all the weapons you listed but commented on. However, regarding hammer burst specifically, which appears to be more inclined with the discussion in this thread. I merely pointed out that although it deals lesser damage than eviscerate, it has a pretty nasty stun effect associated with the skill. This can be used in combination solo, or in team fights to be equally as deadly.

Point:
You do not need a stun to land a hammer burst. You just need to monitor their dodges or time the skill appropriately.

Hammer Burst comes with a stun. You can be killed in a single stun burst. That’s the reason people take stun breakers.

In regards to burst being guaranteed hits.. that defeats the purpose of PvP. Nothing is a guaranteed hit. It’s about timing and execution.

In the Sport of boxing, a good fighter knows that a power punch needs to first be setup. Don’t engage trying to throw haymakers at the start. You can know that an ability is coming, but if I set it up first and time it properly. You won’t be able to avoid it.

Edit: Just trying to prove a point using boxing as an example. Not trying to debate boxing mechanics. =)

I’m not exactly sure about this, adrenaline still builds up super quickly. I do not like the concept of passive adrenaline play-style. To me, that is bad design. I got no problem with burst abilities being situational.

In regards, to those who traited for adrenal health. They do take a heavy nerf, because now they actually have to account for gaining adrenaline rather than relying on a passive for sustain. You have to understand though, this build was a gimmicky build though.

Would you have all warriors get nerfed because of a gimmick? I actually applaud ANET for the changes. But I welcome proper discussions like these.

You do realize this thread was created post patch right? This patch was only a nerf to warriors who were not playing the class correctly to begin with. Passive adrenaline, stationary 100 blades was a gimmick from the start.

The better warriors pre-patch are even better post patch.

I’m trying to wrap my head around that sentence and I’m not sure I understand what’s magically making “better warriors better”.

Because it seems like at best they’d be able to break even with what we had before. And with all the tweaks and buffs that other classes got it makes even less sense.

Except for maybe necros. Seems like they got the shaft too.

Easy explanation, warriors essentially gained a new burst ability, which now hits AOE (vs single target previously), which grants bonus damage to targets under 50% which effectively gives a new cleave burst finisher.

What you have to understand that the so called “Meta builds” pre patch were just gimmicks. It was not how warriors were intended to be played. Yes, certain builds got nerfed because of Adrenaline, but I reiterate that this was how warriors were intended to be played.

Its a much better design and increases the skill cap and reward for a good warrior by a significant amount. This is why I conclude that the better warriors pre-patch are even better now.

If a thief dominated you on skyhammer he would dominate you on any other map. Thieves are actually easier to kill on skyhammer that any other map.

Out of my now six 80 characters. I can tell you from my experience that there is no “class to beat” on Skyhammer. I seem to do well with any class I choose on this map and pretty consistently.

If you are well versed in PvP and understand the strengths and weaknesses of your PvP builds then you should not have any trouble with the map.

Some builds are obviously more effective than others but skill, timing, experience, and player awareness are very big factors. It is time for some of you to develop an athlete’s mentality and stop making excuses for you failures. The more I read this thread the more I feel that some of you are just not cut out for PvP. I can understand if you are disputing game or map mechanics, but for 90% of these posts, that’s not the case.

I know I sound really harsh, or arrogant to some degree, but real PvPers do not cry because they are outplayed. I can understand the rage factor associated with the competitive nature, but I implore you to study the game. Learn the game mechanics, your class mechanics, the pros and cons for the builds that you run and just get better…

I agree with the OP.

This is a much welcomed change. The adrenaline nerf actually gives adrenaline the intended purpose rather than this passive style mechanic.

I absolutely looooove the greatsword changed. They fixed the burst animation so that you can actually hit your target.. and you can hit multiple targets with it. I have been an advocate for these changes and I think ANET hit them right on the money.

skyhammer doesn’t have a sense for the difference that can have a cc or an immobilize.

without stun breaker/condi removal:

immobilize on glasses = dead

random cc in the wrong position = dead

if you want to be an esport game i think the 1 cc into dead mechanic is not the best way to go

2. Secondly, you speak for yourself. A lot of us actually enjoy the map and the uniqueness it brings over the standard bunker based gameplay you tend to see on just about every other map.

Yeah the bunker thing is a good argument . But playing builds that BUNKER a cannon, or just bunt people off the edge are even less skill and less fun than the traditional maps.

That is my main point, you can take the best bunker build and it means absolutely nothing in the room with the hammer. This is basically a battle of whits. Knowing your class and your opponents and manipulation and timing are usually the key to those battles.

I play 5 different classes in spvp and I really see no advantage in the hammer room in any of them. Warrior for example can literally spec to have kitten near permanent Stability in hammer. However, with this build there is an incredibly big weakness in a 1 on 1 fight in the hammer room. They will have limited gap closers and horrible damage. You can literally kite and wait out their stability as ele, ranger, necro (limited kiting ability vs perma stability but they can tank), and engineers.

Any scenario I can come up with or have played seems to boil down to how players are playing their own characters. But this is what PvP should be about in my opinion, its about being outplayed not out bunkered.

To quote myself, “after the feature patch the only professions with lower DPS than warrior will be Necro and Mesmer.” No further nerfs are necessary or good. Middle tier DPS will become bottom tier and let’s leave it at that.

Patch hasn’t dropped yet bro.. there is no way you could even remotely make those predictions. But regardless, I still don’t necessarilly look at this as a nerf to Warriors Damage with greatsword.

We can only speculate at this point but our burst ability is getting a fix. I still predict the adrenaline nerf will affect your dps much more than the change to hundred blades.

I just ignore the posts of Apparition from now on, I thought about it why it always made me angry reading his posts, now I know why, cause he said out loud what was always present in his posts:
1. Only I am right and only my points count
2. Everything everyone else says is wrong and just QQ, noone else has valid points, and if they point out valid points they are not valid and if there is a proper explanation I just ignore it still stating noone else has valid points.

I’m not sure how exactly any questions I have asked in this post angered you. You go into a PvP map to PvP. You made a mistake by walking on top of breakable glass and got caught in it.

I personally always tend to go around these “breakable” floors exactly for this reason. It’s not my intentions to anger anyone with my post. But to bring RELEVANCY as to exactly why this map should be deleted.

It’s like playing a healing support build and getting upset with your lack of dps. These type of statements needs to be justified. You cannot expect for any changes to incur if you cannot even properly justify the deletion of the map.

Am I biased? Absolutely, but my bias statements are justified with my posts. I personally think the map is genius and brings a perfect blend to a boring concept of a game… conquest…

skyhammer doesn’t have a sense for the difference that can have a cc or an immobilize.

without stun breaker/condi removal:

immobilize on glasses = dead

random cc in the wrong position = dead

if you want to be an esport game i think the 1 cc into dead mechanic is not the best way to go

why do you continue to believe in this map?

We (all the pvp community) don’t understand!

1. Why would you walk in the breakable tiles rather than dodge/rolling over it?

2. Secondly, you speak for yourself. A lot of us actually enjoy the map and the uniqueness it brings over the standard bunker based gameplay you tend to see on just about every other map.

Apparition: you’re trolling a bit too hard now; your posts are getting a bit too silly to be believable. You should pop back to the Warrior forum and tell them that nerfs to hambow and axebow have been confirmed, if you want more entertainment.

My posts, unlike yours, has statements to support my view/perspective. Also, the evidence is clear. When I say that 90% of the posts here are QQ threads its evident with each post that’s made talking about either how stupid ANET is for making this map, or putting in solo Q without any type of statements to support their views.

I personally believe that this is a consilidated QQ thread for bad players. I can guarantee if people posted actual scenario’s or something, anything to support these outlandish remarks, they could actually gain some knowledge and learn a little more about the map mechanics/counters. I believe the reason people are just spewing hate and disgust for the map is because they do not understand the mechanics (L2P issues).

On another note, I completely agree with the statement made by tanztante, pertaining to the way stealth works on the glass. I’m not sure if this was a bug or glitch but I have also experienced someone stomping someone from the glass. The glass broke but they did not fall without it (without stealth)… I should probably report that as a potential bug maybe?

imo, it’s not the CC that makes this map so annoying, it’s the hammer and the fact, that 9/10 matches are in skyhammer.

That is what is so great about it. It does not matter how well you bunker points, it forces you to have to also keep the wild card in mind (the hammer) and devote resources on controlling or containing it.

Honestly though, 5% is nothing, and this is coming from someone who plays greatsword zerker maybe more than any of my other chars

Exactly… the adrenaline change will affect PVE more than a measly 5% from hb. By PVE im referring to your speed clear times and your group damage.

So by “stupid reasons” you mean you died from getting tricked into standing on a glass door?

Or did you die because your team failed to control the hammer? That just creates more strategy to determine how many resources (players) you need to devote. This is no difference from destroying/defending trebuechet.

Were you just outplayed and knocked off the map? Did you have stability? What class were you?

All I see is just a lot of posts of people crying rather than any real concrete justifications of deleting a great map from PvP…

there is no outplaying, a fish flopping on the keyboard could get these cheap kills on this map. and as to no concrete justifications, you must be too lazy to scroll through the 20+ pages of people doing exactly that, giving perfectly concrete justification why this map should be tossed into a grave and buried. any map where you can use literally just one skill to rack up dozens of kills is not a good map, let alone a great map.

and since you’re too lazy to scroll through the list, here’s an example or two as to why this map needs to go away (the general idea behind the reasons, don’t remember them word for word):

Funny, I have 5 80’s and sPvP with them all. This is certainly false. Maybe its the build you are using in sPvP.

2. it promotes a toxic gameplay enviroment, which anet doesn’t like in anything else, why should this piece of garbage be different?

Toxic gameplay environment? I don’t understand.. this is conquest.. the place where everyone thinks bunker builds are the best builds, in spite of the severe lack of skill needed to play these builds.

3. it causes people to afk for the entire match, so something clearly isn’t very right with it.

Bad news bruh.. this is not ANET’s fault.. nothing they can do to fix this besides turning abandoned debuff back on

and don’t say something about “you can counter it with stability, l2p, etc etc”. engineer magnet pull doesn’t have a giveaway if they’re invisible, most thieves have their scorp wire flying the second the glass audibly breaks, and the troll groups work together to position you to get knocked off before you can pop stability. great map my kitten , remove this map.

Sorry but you are wrong again brother.. if you are fighting an engineer and he goes invis, first off he will not be invisible that long. Secondly, most likely you are referring to the hammer that is the only possible place I can imagine someone QQ about engineer stealth. But if this is the case guess what.. he isn’t doing any damage.. lay down AOE/cleave and just auto-attack. Also if he is using stealth at hammer then he obviously isn’t much of a bunker and should be easy to kill anyway.
