Hey guys, so I know that the recipe for a specific golden fractal weapon is the 100 globs, 10 golden relics, 50 matrix’s and a tier 1 weapon skin, but does anyone know the recipe for a random weapon? I’ve seen people talk about the opportunity to craft a random gold weapon and the golden relics themselves mention placing 4 in the forge, however that greys out?
Any help would be great thanks.

I don’t think there was too much toxicity here that should put people off, after all it’s a bit of harmless competition. The players cursing in map chat could maybe be toned down a bit but I didn’t see much trash talking at all, I saw relevant criticism throughout more often than not. At the end of the day this is an amateur tournament, and they’re going to make mistakes, the Ranger talk was pretty relevant as that Ranger wasted quite a few cool downs and didn’t have a particularly strong positioning.
We need to encourage competition not punish what little of it we have, and I think maybe the toxicity could be toned down (a small few of the “top” players are average players with skilled egos), but at the end of the day this isn’t exactly disastrous behavior.

either youre fighting kittenty mesmer or I’m bad…I’ll choose 1…and I didn’t even talked about buff/nerf LB/GS rangers are wwaaayyyyy underpowered compared to mesmer’s burst …In groups I’m still as effective but not for 1 v1 or 1 v X…before that patch I was a beast…now I’ just die in a split of a second..sudendly I’m bad…the only prof that is still on the same spot is Necro they even got nerfed and still amazing
Thank you for asserting that I’m bad, however the Mesmers I have been dueling include Frostball, Misha, Jurica, Helseth in a game and a few random mesmers in the 1v1 servers. It is definitely harder to fight a Mesmer now, but I think this comes down to a L2P issue surrounding most of the rangers in this game.

Well before that patch I could easily defeat a mesmer on my pew pew now it’s like I expect to die….Rangers LB/GS are reeaaally underpower tbh “post patch”
You’re so wrong, we got some buffs and some nerfs but are basically in the same spot. Fighting a Mesmer went from a 90/10 chance to us to a 50/50 chance, but in no way should you expect to die.

I was playing carrion longbow axe/torch the other day for a laugh in the EU 1v1 server and it was actually stupidly easy to play and kill people with.

My only problem with Rampage is the stupidly high damage in combination with it’s CC. I don’t care about the tankyness and stability of it, but when a warrior can hit me for 5k with the 5 skill and knock me down is absurd when I’m a 3k armor Engineer.

I think this needs to be fixed ASAP to be honest, it can actually kitten you more, say you had 6s left until your full heal arrives and AMR procs, unless you counted the overcharge you will heal 2.5k and get another 15s cd.

This build is hardly changed if they fix or change the grenade barrage. From my testings without the trait the identical build still 1 shots thieves and eles, and you can 2 shot burst most other classes. The main damage rotation doesn’t even rely on barrage, it’s only used for ganks.

I’m fed up with all the other Engineers saying that fixing this bug will destroy the build.
Guess what? It won’t.
It’s a fun little bug to play with while it lasts, but as it stands the same build without the bugged trait still 1 shots thieves and eles, and you can 2 to 3 shot other classes. The build will still be strong, and will be our main build.
Also I have nothing against Koroshi, but he usually plays builds that excel in 1vs1 fights and you often see him pushing these 1v1s at far etc. He’s not a shining example of top tier Engineer, especially when Texbi 100-0’d him.

The abjured runs a necro and he does very well, actually they’re considered a top team in NA. Build a team around what complements each other. Necro is in a decent spot now and there’s still alot of testing to be done before any solid comes from it. Of course, I will add Noscoc has the benefit of getting pro peeling from top tiers but still :P
Although, I will say Ranger is just still bad overall … Lowered dmg on power builds and with the higher dmg output across the board power ranger can melt pretty quickly now. Condi builds were always not TOO great without spirit team viability which was nerfed a long time ago. Condi is do-able, just in low to mid-tier , in top tier it’s pretty much useless.
They do well against other bad teams, look at Noscoc in the WTS, he was downstate food.

I think it’s to do with the trait misbehaving like the old grenadier trait, so now it’s throwing 2x the amount of nades. Should be a quick fix.

Hey all I’m PRINCE and I’m currently building a competitive team while some of my teammates are away for a few months. We are looking to play ESL and I guess we can win Academy Gaming. We are currently an Engineer and an Ele (Sebter) and in particular I’m looking for a Thief and a Guard. I’ll look at all classes (Possibly thinking of doing Ele Engi Necro Thief Guard) but for the time being we need 3 good players who can use team speak, especially Thief and Guard.

Can I disagree? Elixir Cele Engineer won’t die 1v1 to any class with it’s healing, and it maintains the same strong damage. I don’t think zerker is the only option, just not all the builds have been explored yet.

I actually think that the matchmaking is working quite accurately, I hear a lot of these “QQ MATCHMAKON SUX” comments but mine has been pretty consistent, I regularly queue with the same group of players are 80% of the time there isn’t anyone who is vastly less skilled grouped with us. I’ve been screen capping all my matches to test this, and they’re pretty consistent too.
I see some people above picking the worst matchups, but I think they’re cherry picking pictures to make it look worse than it is. It’s been weeks since I’ve joined a 4v5 that wasn’t due to my own DC and for the most part the games we get end up pretty balanced.

+ wont incendiary powder going to firearms hurt the celestial build pretty hard? the easy burns were accounting for a lot of damage no?
They account for a strong fraction of damage versus low cleanse classes, however the celestial build is primarily a crowd control power build, also a lot of the other changes will benefit the power side, so it’s not too huge. It will be interesting to see how the condition builds fare after the patch.

I think using LOS is a sign of a skilled player, because a fight with no opportunities for LOS doesn’t favour “skilled play” it just favours kiting. If there was a 1v1 tournament with absolutely no where to LOS you can guarantee that the top positions would be filled with Longbow rangers.

Hi, welcome to the Ranger forums and PvP in general, it’s nice to see new people trying out Ranger!
First of all as far as the video quality goes, it looks decent, maybe you could add some light music or commentary but that isn’t really necessary.
On to the game play. I can see you’re only rank 19 and so I imagine the players you’re playing with are similar MMR wise. First of all, playing on Forest you should never really initiate on a boss kill because they can be stolen easily and should be used for clutch games. You also didn’t dodge the chieftain throw which knocked you towards him, if you didn’t have allies he could drop you quite low and force a signet of stone pop there. Also you spent the majority of the game in the longbow when you have an equally good greatsword to use for mobility and pressure, swap more! Also learn to cancel skills through weapon sheathing, you used a rapid fire several times which was completely obstructed through LOS and you’d be better off selecting another target and attacking them. I recommend taking signet of renewal over the signet of the wild too as the condi cleanse and AOE cleanse are very strong.
It looks like you’re using empathetic bond over survival of the fittest and when you’re using two survival skills you may find it’s better to take the on demand cleanse rather than the passive, also remember to swap your pets before they die and recall them out of AOE!
I can’t comment too much on your rotations as the enemy team took a strong liking to fighting off point throughout the entire game which is rather odd, I’m guessing their new in that regards. Keep playing Ranger and keep improving though, nice to see people in PvP!

I disagree. Ranger does need some serious help to bring us up to level with some of the other classes, especially in WvW and to an extent PvP. I feel we are in a nice spot in PvE, we’re the best open world roaming class in the game in my opinion, especially for leveling. Dungeons need work obviously, we don’t suck we just aren’t necessarily top tier however that is debatable.
Frankly, the pet is here to stay, and proper management of the pet can bring your skill up a long way, just look at some ranger v ranger fights where one knows how to use it and the other doesn’t. Also with the pet we are the best 1v1 class in the game at winning directly (Thief can play so they never lose, but they might not win).

I’d recommend learning 02660 sb sword/dagger condi survival build first as it is incredibly easy to play and exceptional at 1v1s (in the recent ESL 1v1 tournament the top 4 were rangers and 3 of us were playing a variation of this). LB/GS is a viable and strong build but requires a higher level of skill to play effectively when you’re not at 2000 range.

1. Premades with full teamspeak in the same que as solo q is stupid
2. classes are not even close to balanced from the standpoint of pvp. Guards, warriors, thieves, eles, and engies have combinations of blocks, evades, invulnerabilities, mobility, stealth, condi clears, group condi clears, group heals, which is why they are meta and practically on every team in tournaments and on practically most premades. There is a reason. Anet is blind to this reason and has been for 3 years.
3. How can a game compete, with the same 5 (+ the occasional mesmer) over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. After 1 month of pvp, IT GETS BORING AS HELLLLLLLLL!. I despise this pvp system, the same maps, the same classes reigning supreme. Until these devs figure this out, this will never advance beyond some tournaments every now and again. And the frequency of tournaments will depend on an influx of new players who will have to learn all over again that the system depends on 5 classes who are meta and have been for awhile now. After they learn that, and get tired of the inane repetition, they will move on, and a new influx of people will come to replace them, only to have to relearn this BS all over again.Major point: ANET DOES NOT CARE, it still makes money. hahahha.

Mesmer is a high risk high reward class, Necromancer is an average risk, average reward class and Ranger is a low risk, average to high reward class in my opinion. I wouldn’t say that all three of them are easy which is why they are abundant. Ranger does have the lowest skill floor in the game as far as I’m concerned but it also has a pretty high skill ceiling, as evident by the lack of competitive Rangers.

Also I love my ugly little Dark Moon Shield because of its smoke effect and no one seems to have it either. I guess I like my expensive skins too but they’re different. I’m most proud of being pretty good at PvP and being one of the few Rangers who plays competitively in the PvP scene (/cry give rangers buffs pls).

I too have seen a huge increase in Necromancers. Mesmer players are still rare to be honest and I normally don’t see more than 2 in a game as the MM seems to split them up a lot, especially when I play with better Mesmers. Rangers seem to be pretty similar to how they were before, maybe they’ve even declined. Necros though, like kitten they’ve leaped out of the closet with the power builds, I’m assuming it’s the Reaper hype alongside the Foot in the Grave buff they got recently.

Also I’ve heard that when a game starts the “Team X” is based on the player with the highest MMR, and when I play my ranger or engineer I often get “Team P R I N C E” etc but I have yet to see it occur on my newer warrior or necro…so I’m assuming yes?

Actually you wouldn’t realise how much the PvP side of Capture actually comes into play. I queued with some guys from Svanir Pushing Lord where we ran double sentinel decap engie alongside cele ele/engie with a thief. We won a good 10 games in a row but nearly all the games went to timer and the ones that didn’t ended in the last 2 minutes.
Most of my average games finish around the 7 to 8 minute mark which is a huge contrast compared to if you build a team designed just to hold caps.

Also the whole pre-made argument. I think it must be down to different comps and MMR ratings of players, because 80% of the pre-mades I come across are just a group of friends or a PvE guild trying out some PvP and they still get rekt. It’s sad but I only really come across true pre-mades when I’m in a group anyway, and then it doesn’t matter as much.

I’ll tell you why I don’t play ranked. I don’t see the point. Queueing ranked I’ll get 8 to 10 minute queues whereas it’s half of that in unranked, and when I play solo or with my team/people I know we want to play games, not wait around for ANET to find the 10 players online at that time who have similar MMR.
Also some people get upset too easily which is fine and dandy, but I wouldn’t say people are toxic. I play troll builds occasionally because they are fun and I happily engage in arguments with people telling me to play meta to “get gud lik them”. When I want competition I have the ESL cups, if I’m queueing unranked I’m probably having a good time on Teamspeak with my buds.

To be fair with the thief stealth trait the rune acted best on them giving them a lot more slipperiness. With Engies it only gave static discharge engies annoying burst imo

Stealth Classes should destealth if they attack a blocking dodging or invuln target. Not blind though, that doesn’t make sense as they miss the attack, so it would never contact anything.

Most premades suck too. I’ve fought 4 premade teams today as pugs and won all of them. They can all be the same guild tag but suck or be a group of friends. The only serious premades I worry about are the 15 or so teams that play competitively, and I very rarely get them and most often as another pre myself. Idk I don’t understand how anets system works but I find it unlikely that you’re losing to good pre’s 19/20 times but moreso that you’re bad.

Yeah its for PVP and pretty ridiculous. Take the lowest CD shouts and you heal 6k every 24s. Literally a second heal, both to yourself and your teammates. Only downside is you lose the utility of stances and high stability uptime.
Except most people take the 2 20 shouts and a stance, signet or fear me. And you don’t spam them for the heals either, but for the condi cleanse. But still…yeah shouts

They want it nerfed because they need to L2P. Most of the time it’s because they lose a 1v1 against us which we are very strong at or get caught off guard by a rapid fire. But it is clear that most Rangers suck when you watch the same 3-4 continually beating hundreds of others in the 1v1 servers and you can only trust about 4 names in PvP matches. Again competitively, there is like 2 rangers. I’m not saying that Ranger needs to be buffed or nerfed either, although our support could do with some love (hopes for HOT).
