Mesmers have always been melee range duelist classes, especially looking back at gw1. Shield makes a whole lot more sense than scepter or greatsword in my opinion.

Hey I’m Prince of Team Assimilated and we’re currently looking for 3 more players to add to the main roster to queue with and compete. I don’t expect you to be pro(you’d already be playing), but if you consider yourself decent then send me a mail, we can work on practice. You need to be able to have TS to communicate.
I main engineer and Toyz mains thief but multiclasses.
Looking for a Cele D/D or D/F ele.
Looking for a Zerker Ham S/F guard.
Looking for a third class with strong utility, potentially shoutbow war. Could also consider working in another zerk such as mes but you’ll have to be strong and it would require a lot of work.
Mail me ingame if you’re interested or any queries.

Will the expansion come with some character slots I wonder? It’s not uncommon to be given a slot or bank tab with expansions in some games, I wonder if we’ll get it here?

Sinister and Zealot are good amulets. Dire and Nomads are awful amulets. Sentinel should never have been added either really.

Been duo’qing with my buddy for 2 years now. Best combos are Thief/Mes Ele/Engie Zerk Ranger / Zerk guard IMO.
Of course you can throw in a necro with engie or another ele with ele.

Sit back at range and kite them with sb, make sure to use torch 5 when they get into bomb range. Use sword to always distance yourself from them and it should be an easy fight. Interrupt their turret with sb 5 too when you see them go to place it.

= Koroshi more uses his rangers on twitch streams. He’s also not a ranger main, just a really good PvPer.
Koroshi is a good WvW player and you’ll find him on his engie and occasionally ranger quite a bit there. I wouldn’t go as far to say he’s a good PvPer though.

The Ranger sword skill 3 Serpent’s Strike and Greatsword 3 Swoop have a bug (could be due to server lag?) where they often fail to hit even if you are in range. In melee range on the still golems both of these skills fail to hit quite often, it doesn’t even register the attack. Serpents strike often overextends targets too meaning that sometimes you go past them and hit the air.

A lot of people have been hoping for hammers because of GW1. Thematically I think that’s a bit weird since we’re supposed to be these dexterous scout type fighters, but then again we also have a 12 foot long 2-handed sword option.
My guess is the staff will be AoE. I’m not sure why people don’t think rangers have support, it just needs to be traited for. Full spirits was the PvP meta for a very long time, and we also have pet boons, “Guard!”, spotter, MT, etc.
After the nerfing within the spirits they become completely useless. Shouts with the right traits could be nice in paper (there is Master trait that gives regeneration + swiftness with every single shout). Unfortunately the healing is too low and the shouts CD is too high for the effect they give. Also most of them are broken.
It’s proven that right now the only playable builds for ranger are signets and survival. Any other is just people talking while they don’t play anymore with the ranger or they play only static world bosses.
Spirit Ranger is still very strong and viable in small fight skirmishes, 2v2s etc which is why you still see them in the competitive 2v2 tournaments.

PvE do whatever you want. Dungeons you want cats. PvP you want Birds, Dogs or Spiders. WvW you want Cats, Dogs, Spiders. That’s a general rule of thumb I have but it can obviously be changed up a bit.

Because Ranger isn’t hard to play and all the skills look the same. Positioning is a somewhat difficult skill to learn on ranger, as is controlling their pets. But rotations are basic and effective and it upsets people. The people who rage the most often are bad players who lose to a cheesy combo such as quickening zephyr + signet of the wild + rapid fire. That combo is incredibly easy and will hit 10-15k, although I wouldn’t recommend it as it’s stupid and wastes cooldowns.
At a higher to top level power ranger is a high risk high reward build and your teams will usually attempt to peel/cover for you. At lower level it is definitely low risk high reward. At all levels condi ranger is pretty cheesy, same as spirits and settlers bunker. All our builds are semi “viable” and cheesy, but all very strong in 1v1s hence…rage. Just ignore them bro.

offer a ranger Mending and i bet they’d leap at the idea of a 20 second, moderate heal that also removes 3 condis,
Eh idk about that. Every ranger heal except water spirit is very strong, some of the best in game up there with healing signet and turret

10k damage in 10s is 1000 damage a second, which in a standard condition build the torch burning will not do. The torch buff will be nice for PvP similar to warriors longbow, but it won’t be game changing. I may add it into my survival build though for the extra sustain it will offer on a point.

I find the WvW “GvG” scene boring and repetitive, and I’ve spoken to and dueled a few of their players and their heads were stuck so far up their kitten it was unreal. Hopefully this gamemode is more similar to GW1 GvG with maybe some MOBA aspects. 8v8 is as high as would go IMO, anything above that becomes a cluster and is no longer about individual play and more about stacking and blasting.

Everything but Revenant and Stronghold is PVE anyway.
Specialisations could very well work their way into PvP. By the looks of them they’re like sub classes, which would be sweet, and probably infuriating for the first few weeks.
You can find me in PvP | I normally answer PMs
People who speed level aren’t going to have as good a grip on the class, and especially not as good a grip on the more unusual skills.
I think for people that are bad at the game sure, but that’s not really true. For PvP my buddies asked me to play necro so I created one for the first time and within around 3 hours I knew most/all of the rotations simply because the situational knowledge is already there. If you know the other classes learning a new one wont be a super struggle, although it will take a bit more longer with Revanant as no one has played one until the patch hits.

I’ve already got sets of zerker gear and trinkets in my bank, so I’ll tome level him. I’ll probably mess about in PvP with him for a few hours until I can play him to a good level with my team, then I’ll try him out in PvE probably.

I dont see any problem here.
Are a lot of problems there let’s be honest not all classes can bunker like top 3 classes matching is broken as kitten.
Ele can bunker decently. Ok. Engineer is squishier than ele and weaker to conditions but I’ll let it slide as a pseudo bunker. Ok. Thief. Thief cannot bunker.

30 gems for a win would be crazy. I could go with my team and farm 600 gems a day easily.
You can find me in PvP | I normally answer PMs
Certain classes you will want to engage or stall for. Thieves and warriors can be beaten by engineers and stalled, also guardians and other engineers you should feel confident fighting. I wouldn’t engage vs an ele 1v1 because the fight will last a long time and you’ll waste time helping your team elsewhere.

To me it feels like the old solo queue. In the old team queue there was communication and balanced matches whereas solo queue was awful and you were paired with players of huge skill differences and you got lopsided results. That’s what it feels like to me at the moment and I’m not even sure why I’m still playing because I have less than 50% win rate every day for a while now. I’ve also had a few random dc’s where I’ve been kicked to the menu only to log right back in and finish the game…only to receive minus points anyway.
It’s definitely been interesting and I’m looking forward to the next season with (hopefully) a few improvements. But I’m glad overall that we actually have seasons now.

Cause the pvp community in guild wars is sooo nice atm……
100 times better than any f2p MMO ive played.
Dcuo pvp community isn’t very toxic. I’m sure if I tried enough of them I could find others. Adding more players might actually lessen the toxicity due to the influx of new players the experienced ones would just have to deal with it. That being said this is a game on the Internet alot of you just have thin skin and need to toughen up buttercup.
toxic has more meaning than just being trolls or mean, anything on the internet has those types.
Ok, mind giving me a few examples so I have even the slightest chance at a counter point here? Keep in mind I’ve been playing hard core pvp games since 1998.
ok so toxic can be a variety of things but its generally negative behaviors that effect more than the player exhibiting those behaviors.
some examples:
- trolls
- griefers
- victim mentalities
- pouters (i’m not getting my way)
- carry me senpai playerswhile yes those listed above are in this game and every other game, p2p games filter out a large number of these players.
and ya I agree with you that it would grow the pvp community and if anet made better costumes and vanity items they could rake in some cash. but, the influx of players is going to get frustrated and negative fast in this game. slow updates, cheese metas, etc.
im just curious have you been apart of a game that has gone from p2p to f2p?
Lord of the Rings online went from P2P to F2P and benefited massively. But they had frequent updates to keep things under control and the PvP so to speak was partly limited to P2P players.

Can anyone explain why my wins are so sporadic? It was pretty consistent near the beginning with only a few blowout days but in the last week no matter what I do I seem to be losing constantly and getting paired with bad teams etc. It’s very confusing.

Thank you! I really appreciate this, trying to learn spvp and take the step out from the training arena.
Edit:
I see you’re really fluent with the forward phase shift, how do you do it? reverse key/PR/reverse? or do you use the mouse? Any tips, I often miss the last reverse for some kitten reason so I run back.. lol
It is exactly as you said, just make sure you do it without a target. Over time it becomes easier to pull off and if you have decent internet it will be flawless.

Well it’s extremely irritating when good players are used to compensate bad teams. When that does happen it is infuriating to play with people who don’t read chat, do their own thing, can’t rotate and waste time in 1v1 fights they won’t win. But to be fair when I see players that are really bad I just block them and give them a nickname so I can queue dodge them.

Other classes need to get their autoattacks nerfed to the level of Engineers, not the other way around.
Why do you say that? Engineers have among the best auto-attacks in the game in radius, range, and damage between the bomb kit and grenade kit.
Bomb kit is a harder to land version of a melee attack. Grenades are boosted by various traits, some of the hardest skills to land and still not that great. Also, technically not an AA.
Before you bring up pvp, pvp operates in a vacuum isolated from the rest of the game where rules are applied very differently by the sheer gimmicky nature of the game mode. Where a build that has zero killing power but can just shove people around a bit is considered brokenly overpowered, in every other gamemode it would be considered dead weight or a free kill.
Unless they split the game modes then the classes will be nerfed or buffed based on the game mode with 50,000 prize pool tournaments. This is besides the point but isn’t a huge percentage of the engineer population pvp players compared to the other gamemodes.

What if static discharge stripped 1 boon per hit. It wouldn’t be OP when you consider that it can’t be stronger than a mesmers shatter boon strip and it would give some utility to the build. I feel like playing SD engie in PvP is like a squishier weaker s/f ele.
EDIT: Not per bounce, if there was 2 on a point you could insta strip all their boons.
You can find me in PvP | I normally answer PMs
If the Engineer can bait out the 2 stunbreaks that they run and then smash in a good combo they could finish it, but if they fail to do that the first time around it’s a downwards fight for the Engineer due to the Ele sustain.
You can find me in PvP | I normally answer PMs
The build is considered “OP” because it’s damage comes from one combo that if landed correctly does a LOT of damage. If you look at two rifle celestial engineers fight you might see them go through several rotations without their hp dropping a lot, then the better engie will hit the damage rotation perfectly and it will look like a blowout win for them.

Isn’t this a huge l2p issue like the asura animations. Good players know what kit they swap to from their rotations or the backpack or what skill they use first. It’s not game breaking in the slightest.
Actually it’s a pretty much established fact at this point that asura animations are a huge handicap and the rationale for Standard models in Ranked/Teamque.
Yeah I don’t think it’s as big as people make out. I’ve never had a problem and I know a lot of top players who don’t have this problem either. I get that it might affect some people but the OP is asking for something really quite unnecessary.

The problem with thief seriously does belong with its design. Top PvP thieves are amazing assets to a team and extremely strong and capable at 1v1s to 1v2s. But if you’re not a top thief then you’re a dead weight to the class. There is very little in between. Either you are useless, slightly suck or you’re a god.
You can find me in PvP | I normally answer PMs
To make this build more viable static discharge needs to be consistent with each tool belt skill and it needs to recieve a small damage increase. Buffs to the gadgets should really come in the form of the skill being buffed rather than the (unfortunately awful) traits also. Static Discharge requires very good positioning to work in higher PvP and you don’t really have any team fight pressure compared to nades, but on the plus side it’s fun and hardcounters d/p thieves.

I tuned in because I was curious! What’s the first thing I see? Almost all engi and ele…
GW2 pvp is already not that great for viewing (fun to play though), watching stuff like this is just ugh.
The ESL today had a very small ammount of eles/engies compared to usual. It wasn’t until the finals where they switched comps and we had 3 eles and 2 engies out of 10.

Double ranged shatter can win a lot of 1v1 matchups on the beach which is where most 1v1 servers are situated. If you’re decent at ranged mesmer you should only really be losing to thieves, meditation guards and longbow rangers.
You can find me in PvP | I normally answer PMs
It could just be that those people who spend a lot of time dueling are just more skilled at that style of play than you. It’s good to know your tPvP, but also useful to be able to hold your own or win 1v1s. Dueling rooms are a good place to practice your personal skill for 1v1s should you need to defend a point or maintain the neutrality during a match when allied support is unavailable for a time. A lot of people seem to have this idea, as they duel using tPvP meta builds. However, some do use builds specific for dueling – they can still be helpful to fight against, but just be aware of that fact =P.
Thats where im torn at lol, for example on my mesmer, if I run torment shatter or phantasms I can win 1v1s. If I go in a dueling room with double ranged shatter I tend to lose. In tpvp though, my double ranged shatter outperforms those two builds for me and even when im thrown into 1v1 situations I can win them in tpvp, but not in dueling rooms lol.
That’s because the dueling rooms are a fair, skill based area to practice your 1v1s in. I see most people play tournament builds in there but they do so to practice it, and it has less areas to kite and control like you can on a normal map hence why it’s more about reaction times and mechanical skill.

Engineer – Easiest. Keep your range, they’re pretty easy to proc halting strike on, and if they are line of sighting you remember you can knock back with GS 5 through line of sight to get more distance when you come around the corner.
I thought this was kind of weird. Do other mesmers think engi is easiest to beat?
Mes range advantage isn’t so significant with rifle, nades and magnet. A lot of engis damage from condis which are so easily applied and most mes builds have such little condi removal.
Yes Engineer is easy to beat. They can’t hit you with their nades easily when you move about and their rifle doesn’t have the same range as greatsword. Also most Engineer damage comes from power not condis in the celestial meta.
