Oh nooo. My whole guild is transferring tonight. I don’t have any friends on Yak’s Bend. Can you pleeeeeasseeee allow the transfer? Like I said, I don’t mind paying again, even though I was only on YB for 2 days.

I just transferred to YB two days ago but want to go to JQ tonight. Is there a waiting period or can I please just get transferred? I don’t mind paying again.

I must assume that when you say “a long time ago” you must mean like a month ago, because that’s the last time I heavily used it, and it was not fixed as the OP describes.

Yeh, I tried using it ~3 weeks ago and I had to face the warrior to steal his SoR buffs. Annoying to remember to do this when I cast behind my back as mesmer and power necro often. I’ll test right now. Thanks OP for the thread!

I have the most fun w/ mesmer out of the other classes. I know some people that hate it, though. Play all the classes and stick with the one you enjoy most.

I can only speculate that Helseth has tried variations of Mesmer condi and it just doesn’t hold up to power shatter in top tier play. He doesn’t need to come out and list out anything to refute why condi is behind power shatter only because he’s been successful at tournament play. Then again, when someone is that arrogant, don’t expect much.

But really, no one really gives a crap about bottom tier play because you can roll out there with random traits and still kill terrible players.

When discussing build viability in pvp, it really only matters on top tier and tournament games because that is where people know where their dodge button is.

When he turns his stream/persona off, he is pleasant to talk to. I don’t know why people are still unable to differentiate between The Lord Helseth and this dude that is a decent mesmer. ANYTHING he says on Twitch/YouTube will prob be trenchant. Also, of course anyone in a guild competing for money is going to try out all the builds. They’re going to use what wins.

Also, yes. Run whatever build you want in low tier/hot join/practice play. No matter what you run, if you have a basic grasp of how to fight/play this game, you’ll get called OP, god mode, etc. no matter the build (incl. standard power shatter).

First off, several people seem to gravitate to Asura because they think that size is an advantage. If you need that supposed “advantage”, you should instead focus on getting better (my opinion)

My active Mesmer is a Norn. I find that having large illusions is more effective than being small. Dueling people with both my Mesmers is how I came to this conclusion as that was the common consensus among them.

@ All: Started with asura mesmer. Started using humans because I was curious about the animations. Female human mesmer is so pretty. Male human mesmers are pretty swaglicious, but their chests are too broad and I don’t like looking at that. Asuras are still adorable and they crack me up when they yell/grunt while fighting. Plus, asura greatsword dance and staff dance are the best!!! I cannot stand the way my Norn mesmer walks or talks. I need to remake a Charr mesmer. I have never played Sylvari mesmer. :O From what you all say, it sounds like I need to make one.

I have 8 accounts, however, I only have 5 level 80’s that are geared up. Before/if you ask why: solo roaming. Also, it kind of turned into me being in 5 GvG guilds as the gank/pick mesmer. I love solo roaming, group roaming, tPvP, and GvG’s on my mesmer. <3

Yeah, man. Moved to a new apt with slow kitten net. Streaming causes everything to have a little delay/lag. On my squishy self, it means I start a duel against a mediguard and can’t easily dodge his opening burst (which I normally can) and am down to 40%, lel. So, I stopped streaming when I moved to the new apt and ended up just recording stuff to put onto YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/kaalypzo). I’m finally getting better net connection on Monday, so I don’t mind streaming anymore. I’ll prob stream raids, some GvG’s, and dueling/roaming.

Yeh, I see the same whining month after month after month. I only come here to see if there’s been any changes I’ve missed or see if there’s any decent vids out there. Found Lumenel’s vids this time round so it was worth it, even though I read silly threads like this one.

Relax MM. Fact is, I’ve never overstated my ability, nor this builds. These guys might have some good points to make, but they constantly loose it in their over stated, unreasonable, and unnecessary criticisms.

Its great to see them pull out the bias card across the forums on people and yet be so blind to the bias of their own blatant attitudes. And guys, again, this isn’t saying you don’t have anything constructive to bring to the table, but you drop the ball constantly in ways like this. But that’s ok, there’s always room for improvement.

Their points are not lost. They did not drop the ball. Their criticism is not unreasonable or unnecessary. Learn to hear all criticism and glean from it what you can. Many of those that can help you improve do not sugarcoat their words. Yeh, m9. Stick to mesmer please. Regardless of other people thinking these are just music vids, I pay more attention to the actual gameplay. Each WvW fight is a bit different than the last. That is what is so lovely about solo roaming. My main account is on FA, so it’s pretty cool to see some of the same enemy faces/tags I’m used to seeing! I see your guild often running 3-4 so it’s sweet to see you solo. More of these vids, please! They rock.

• Obsidian Sanctum was edited to include “an arena for GvGs.”
  For a while after this was released, this distracted a lot of players from the actual puzzle and many players would just harbor in that new arena. Then when “GvGs” died down people started using it for dueling (something that was easily done in the puzzle anyway before the arena was added). And then ArenaNet added custom arenas in sPvP to the game and people go there to duel now. So in essence this update was pointless, and it is as dead as the rest of the map it helped kill.

At the moment in T2 NA, it’s a struggle to find a time-slot that the OS arena isn’t being used. We’ve been having to switch off with other guilds nightly.

Yeh, OS gets filled up and guilds have to share the arena with other guilds. Those that don’t feel like waiting can go to a borderland, but OS is preferable to many, I think.

this debate is getting out of hand, the only way I can see this debate can end is having an actual test involving recognized players in sPvP willing to participate in few 5 vs 5 games, and with one team has the same exact class/combo (that dont change through out the test), and going against another team with mesmer in the roster. The only variant should be the build of the mesmer (which is to be swapped out with power shatter build or mtd build).

Obviously this video should be recorded for educated debate and critique that’s been raging the past few weeks regarding mtd condi shatter build.

Top players test all the new things whenever something about their profession changes – they wouldn’t be on top if they weren’t open to new things. I’m sure Helseth, Supcutie, Countless and many others have tried MtD before.

The reason why you don’t ever see them play this is not because they are unaware of its existence, but rather because it’s inferior to what they are currently running.

It’s CI/Lockdown all over again. The mesmer forum is so convinced that it’s better than shatter, yet it’s not being used at tournaments and Helseth stated/proved a million times that it’s not better.

Wow. This whole thread was a huge facepalm and then I read this. Thank you, Witcher (and Doiid). Posts like these/yours give me hope in these mesmer forums, LOL.

I have a question about evis – is there some trick to get the evis to hit? Sometimes, I’ll be what I think is out of range, but my evis will hit. Then, I’ll be really close to the guy and it doesn’t hit. Is there a trick w/ the camera angle (similar to how thieves can shorten heartseeker if they angle camera downwards)?

The vid is greatsword + axe/shield, but I’ve done greatsword + axe/mace in the past. Not sure which one I like better yet. Since I often run into outnumbered fights in WvW, I really like the shield to block attacks while I heal up a bit. Then again, I really like mace #5 cos I can knock down 6 people from 1200 range. Which is my better option?

Also, the kitten sucking in thus thread is amazing. I thought I was the only one to have the FEAR guys whisper me and try to troll me. I spent almost two hours repeatedly telling this Lettuce cat that I don’t care about how awesome they think their guildie is. He was SO intent on my agreeing with him. The salt levels were through the roof even though my reply was constantly, “I. Don’t. Care.”

I thought Oeggs had me chilled through most of a match. I was jump dodging to move a bit faster than RP walk speed. Turns out, I had RP walk on the whole match. LOL. I think it was a super close match so I was spazzing out a bit about having no condi clear, LOL.

I’ve seen roamers successfully use Staff/Sword+X. I prefer GS because of my aggressive playstyle. The burst is so great. I use GS/Staff or GS/Sword+X.

Brigg – Oh yeeeeh. I started this game as a warrior, but created a mesmer to help people through JP’s. The combat ended up being fun as heck so I stuck with it.

I used to do the OS JP and BL JP’s every day for the badges of honor (ascended trinkets for a solo roamer is a lot harder to get vs if I were a karma trainer). Those stupid badges used to take forever to get! Then, we started getting them handed out like cookies and I had problems with my inventory….until Account Wallet, hngggg. I love Account Wallet.

Anyway, I didn’t have problems with those camping inside. I just GS #5 or Focus #4 the ones that attack me. I always kept my Oh kitten Portal on in case I fell down on my own or someone threw me off. With the creation of EoTM, there’s even more badges being thrown at us. I actually made quite a few enemy friends inside that OS. I helped them finish the puzzle. The dark room seemed to be really difficult to people for some reason.

Why even do the JP now? The only problem I had was recent. There were 2-3 condi PU mesmers, a condi thief, and other cheesy specs camping inside the chamber room. I called in some guildies and we wiped them. They were TERRIBLE, but they were persistent.

I will port your guild to end of jp’s as reward or timewarp while you dance. Pls. I can do things! Hahhaha.

Hairseth is pleasant when he isn’t streaming. When he is, he’s the queen diva and he knows it, LOL. If you don’t understand that streamers have a persona when they stream, then, I just don’t know. You’re sticking out your tongue, so maybe you’re being sarcastic.
