Guild: N/A
Seafarer’s Rest – EU
Massive open space with nothing to do along with a giant toilet…. you’ll see it, so dull.
In all honesty I don’t disagree with the price tag, I don’t think it is overly expensive but at the same time I don’t believe Anet/GuildWars2 approach was particularly well thought out.
I’ve spent the last few days reading through everyones complaints and the backward and forward between players that are on side along with those that are not happy.
However it didn’t take people long to pick up on the updated response in regards to refunding those that recently purchased the game and awarding the long exisiting players with a free character slot.
£10 refund = 1000gems approx. = 1 Free Character Slot
…which correct me if I’m completely off the mark here means the “veteran” player base aren’t actually getting anything the “new” players arn’t getting, except of course they’ll be getting a huge chunk of core content FOC.
If you’re going to make a point of doing something special for your veteran players, actually do something – don’t try fooling them into thinking their getting something everyone else isn’t.

…you know, I have an existing copy of the core game, Anet say if I purchase the expansion I will recieve another copy FOC – Deal.
I expect either 6 additional character slots (could be wrong on the number there, whatever comes with the origional).
OR alternatively a completely new seperate version of the core game I can use.
Otherwise I’m not getting what they promised!
…ooooh and whilst we’re making demands I’d also like to know what exactly I’m purchasing rather than these shoddy videos or posts that contain litter to no information – I really don’t care how excited the developers are tell me something that’ll get me excited!
Why rant over something you don’t even know as yet how it will play out.
My guess they won’t make anyone that already has traits open make a repeat payment, so likely many players will end up with 400 hero points and all skills (only spending hero points on what they don’t already have).
Which means you’re likely going to end up with a huge pool of hero points that you can trade in for sellable items.
WIN-WIN (besides from tempory market crash).
Guardians right now already do not use a lot of weapons (scepter, focus, staff, sword, shield). those weapons seem fairly core to almost all Guardians and I doubt it will change with the new XPAC. Gaurdians are very balanced right now and I love the current place they are in. They can lean in almost any direction they want fairly reliably.
You don’t play guardian do you? Shield… useless.
Sword
Focus
Scepter
Great Sword
Staff
Hammer
….Longbow shortly!
I understand the neccessity of the hype train – drives people towards the game, increasing interest which ulitimately is win win all round even for us the players (As no players results in no game).
However what I don’t understand is the need to reveal the games new lore, discoveries we should be making through play not the “weekly” posts we’re receiving – not to mention the similarity between posts that appears just to cover ground already tread.
My honest oppinion is that any information given between now and release shouldn’t reveal too much lore, mechanics and features should be all we discover before entering the unknown.
My point is I don’t want to feel like I’m playing through something for the second time the first time round…
I’m likely alone in what I think, but I figure I won’t know until I say something! Let me know what you think about the recent updates we’ve been getting about HoT.
clap clap clap clap
I’m sorry but why didn’t you all just read the entire article??
I quote “The wait from April to August will certainly be a long one. How will you spend it? And if you haven’t already, you might want to check the publication date of this post!”
Mystery Solved. APRIL FOOLS!
All I’d say is report and ignore but ultimately be happy, gold sellers mean one thing and that is the game is popular and heavily played otherwise they’d have no market to sell their gold too!
I’ll do my best to keep this short and sweat…
I play a multitude of professions all 80 with my main being Guardian, currently looking for an experienced guild that offers regular Fractal runs at level39+
Please message me in game or respond here, ask anything you like.
(edited by Delgan.8619)
I could be mistaken and please don’t hesitate to correct me but I think many of you have misunderstood the OP.
Devopers need to be part of these presentations as people have commented they understand the game and its mechanics better than anyone else, I agree 100% with this statement.
However the presentation does count for a great deal and should be done to a level that represents the game well – First impressions count for a lot.
I would suggest a proffesional presenter with experience to carry the show, almost interviewing the developers prompting the direction of conversation – working together though making the show run much more smoothly.
I’m sorry but I don’t spend 2hours in fractals most runs take less than an hour, hour and half when things aren’t going right.
I’d say improve your skills and stop running with PUG’s remedy to your issue without the intervention of the powers that be.
email me in game – we are on your server and active, 400 or so members. I’ll put you in contact with an officer.
Hey
I bought this game nearly 3 years a go, and I have lost my serial code. What can i do in order to “get it back” again? Do i have to send an mail to Support or can i find it hidden on my account somewhere?
Thanks a lot
Unless I’m mistaken Serial Codes were emailed to us all when we purchased the game, look back far enough and you should find yours.
I’d suggest the following, but I imagine plenty of people are going to disagree.
Guardian/Warrior – easy classes with plenty of utility, you’re in demand end game.
Human – Easiest starting location with plenty of activity so you’ll always have people on hand to help.
^ This is the best combination for someone just starting the game.
Now don’t get me wrong, if you want something more challenging go ahead with all the other classes/races each has its place, but as a starting point I don’t think you can go wrong with my recommendation above.
Thanks for all the responses!
I’m going to be using the laptop for a range of things, I travel alot and spend little time in one place but when I play my games I don’t like compromising on anything – which results in a hefty cost but imo a worthwile result.
Now the cooling issues brought up are addressed in the alienware laptop with some impressive cooling gear built in not to mention 3year guarentee when bought directly through Dell (basically if I drop it, I pay / part packs up on me they repair or replace).
I’m also wanting something future proof to some extent, the only games I currently play are GW2 & Borderlands PRESEQ – both play alright on my current laptop.
Upgrade is really to set me up for the future.
You guys know any specifc models or brands that provide decent gaming laptops of a high spec?
Hey
I’m currently looking into upgrading my laptop, I currently own a Lenovo Z580 i7 with a GTX630 Graphics card & Seagate Hybrid 7200 SSD harddrive.
I’ve spent a lot of time looking at the Alienware 17, 4G GTX980 model but the price just seems very steep at £1500.00.
I’m not expecting to spend pennies I’d just appreciate someone who could suggest something similar in spec but at a smaller price. OR just to put me straight and point out If I want this level of perfomance I’ll have to fork out for the Alienware laptop.
Any and all responses welcome, thanks to anyone that response in advance.
Regards,

Mhmmm we already have “compact” which is “sort” no? not to mention the material storage slots…. again more organisational aid.
Anyone who is complaining about storage space clearly hords worthless items that need to be sold not held.
I’m not trying to be an kitten here but unless I’ve missed something on a big scale you all need to go back and actually read up on the mega server.
Yes, we’ll all be together and although they’re no longer called “overflows” they’ll still be created when a server reaches it’s populations max…. now correct me if I’m wrong you currently flood a server until someone is put into Z overflow.
This can still be achieved possibly even easier now as the servers are more likely to almost be at their peak before you start flooding it.
Too easily exploitable due to the different amounts of exp needed and gained per level.
To gain 500k exp at lvl 80, you need to lvl twice but those 500k exp would catapult a new character to lvl 40.
That would also mean, i gain 40 skillpoints instead of 2.
hmmmm interesting http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Experience
yeah I see your point and it would need some kind of normalization.
something akin to say, you only gain the experience but not the skill points by using the orb.
How does this matter, 40 skill points on a character that has no requirement for them other than unlocking skills – all items bought via skillpoints are soulbound not account thus nothing would need be done.
Loving this idea.

Bought 35x keys spent in the region of 2910gems, which might not be much to many but it was to me…
I feel like I’ve thrown my money down the drain, nothing retained that was worth while at all.
Am I alone here?
Thank you for the clarification, really appreciated!
Ah understood, but it does say un-equip – when I switch weapon the stats no longer apply to me neither do the sigil in my eyes that sounds like it’s been un-equipped.
Which would mean we lose the buff.
Sigil stack + weapon swap = buff reset
so the ele and other such classes are at a real advantage due to their attunement enabling different skills without the requirement of switching weapon, or am I reading this incorrectly (I’ve put references below)
Taken from here: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/runes-sigils-and-balance-updates/
Regarding mainly to this line…
“This type of sigil will have more strict rules applied on them, so that a player will no longer be able to gain 25 stacks and then un-equip the sigil.”
all comments appreciated greatly…
but I don’t see this damage, I’ve just done Frac only Lv29 – my zerk warrior is hitting 27k by the end of his chain attacks effort required 0.
You’re saying work my kitten off switching excessively – 10k damage?
…as for the conjure weapons I don’t want to use them, it’s too gimmicky play my way they said right? I don’t want to use Frostbow or LH in every confrontation. As for GS yeah I hear you and understand the wall run fire trap but who really wants to run at a wall? seriously… dull
I’m a moaning bag is what this likely boils down to but I just don’t see the dps you guys speak of.
PVE btw, already well aware of their tank or go home abilities in PvP.
(edited by Delgan.8619)
You’re all making valid points but the majority of damage seems to be dependant on conjured weapons and all the skills you’re mentioning I’ll agree have potential to do high damage but for the output you get I don’t feel the return is enough especially when you look at the cooldown on skills and how physically weak we are.
It is wrong in many aspects to compare but the warrior I play isn’t geared out completely yet – he has over 20k hp (my ele has 12-3k) and he hits 5k with every swing of his axe to multiple chars at a rate my ele can’t even compete <— I could be completely wrong but something to me just doesn’t add up I don’t see the damage I see on my other classes it isn’t just specifically the warrior I play just using him as an example.
I’ve copied this from the guildwars website, but what am I missing… I know of not one Elemental skill that inflicts massive damage in a single attack.
“Elementalist
Elementalists are multi-faceted spellcasters that channel elemental forces, making fire, air, earth, and water do their bidding. What they lack in physical toughness, they make up in versatility and the ability to inflict massive damage in a single attack."
Can someone point me in the right direction, my ele full beserk doesn’t touch the damage other proffessions are capable of doing.
I’m not here to complain or argue over anything just an information request even if that only be a link to another thread.
I’m interested in knowing if/when we’ll be getting Guild Halls (instanced meeting place for the guild) and actual Guild Vs Guild Battles that relates to some Ranking system for our actual Guilds.
We all enjoy playing our different races within Tyria but if i’m honest I avoid the Charr, Sylvari and Norn – They either feel clumpsy or I just don’t appreciate their appearance.
I’ve played with the gimmick of the Asuran but baby with an axe gets boring pretty soon, which untimately has resulted in 2 of my level 80 characters being Human.
I enjoy the Human class the most, armor, weapons all seem to best suit them over the other races which I’m happy with no complaints there.
However, I’ve finally decided it is time to create an Elementalist – what if any news do we have on new races joining us in Tyria? I’ve got time to wait but I don’t want to embark on making another human when possibly there might be something new just over the horizon!
Any imput on specific Race / Class combinations that work well would also be really appreciated.
Thank you for the reply.
I used this laptop primarily for work applications such as technical CAD designs which is why initially other than the i7 Processor I had no real need for a powerful graphics card, that being said I am under the impression it can be upgraded as this is the information I was given on purchase.
Regarding the SSD and ditching the Blue-ray drive I use this for work, I would personally ditch this happily but the number of clients who still find the need to post disks is beyond belief and I can’t be doing with the hassle of a portable Blue-ray/Disk Drive.
I’ve been informed that the Neitron Series is one of the best available at the moment and bearing in mind the majority of my work is stored on portable hard drives, the only real use of this SSD would be to hold my operating system, auto-cad tools and Guildwars – would you recommend something different?
Seriously…
After serveral hours shut down your PC and go outside, take a break and give the thing a chance to breathe!
Hi All
My current Laptop the Lenovo Z580 few details below:
Intel Core i7 3520M 2.9GHz
8Gb RAM
1Tb HDD
Blu-ray
Nvidia Graphics GT635
Now performance wise if I’m honest this machine manages perfectly well, I do intend on upgrading the graphics to either GT660/670. However one area that really lets this laptop down (other than it’s wifi capabilities) the harddrive, which is why I’ve been planning on upgrading it to the Corsair 240GB Neutron Series GTX SSD.
I am under the understanding that all SSD drives are the same size and compatable with most modern machines, however would anyone be able to confirm this and also any further recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
In advance thank you to anyone who replies to this post.

What i want is a challenge not running around LA finding and then pressing F with the caption CONGRATS, now repeat this 100 times.
What I also want is what I pay for… not to pay for the chance to obtain something I want.
We clear? …I can guarentee I’m not alone in this either.
The edit was over 40minutes ago… few minutes after the post was posted and just to clarify I changed the following in the edit:
“if i’m spending real money or ever gold” changed to “if i’m spending real money or even gold.”
secondly the title given was a caption, used to catch your attention – it worked.
read above and in context….
2. If you’re not part of “the community” how can I be speaking about you, if i’m refering to the general mood of “the community?”
He didn’t say he’s not part of the community, he said he’s not the entire community and therefore can’t speak for all of us as you claimed you were doing in your first post.
Personally I do like the new events, I enjoy playing the new content even if it’s not reinventing the wheel every month. I don’t like the RNG boxes, but I just don’t buy them and then it’s not a problem. Everything else I’m happy with.
Even if I haven’t fully understood the comment he made it was still taken out of context, it reads in full….
“correct me if i’m wrong but the general mood of most players”
which is basically stating that I am getting such impression his crappy remark wasn’t needed or relevant.
That thank you was an answer worth reading and I fully agree.
but It would (however illogical for Anet to do so) be nice if they for once put it’s players before its profit margins.
wait… I’ll forget the rude nature of your response for a second but let us just clarify something.
please if you don’t mind answer a few of the following questions:
1. Content although diffrent and “enjoyable” as stated by yourself has however been very simular from one event to the other?
2. If you’re not part of “the community” how can I be speaking about you, if i’m refering to the general mood of “the community?”
The 50s bid is for one reason and one reason only, they’re removing excess cash from players pockets which will help maintain the AH economy, this is just Anet flexing its muscles in an attempt to keep the inflations of items down…. if we don’t have the money to spend, the value of goods will stay low.
correct me if i’m wrong but the general mood of most players is that all the “new” content given so far by Anet/Guildwars has been exactly the same with a slightly different skin and minor variations on what you have to do.
New content is great, but when the feel and style ultimately never changes after playing once or twice it becomes just as boring as the last event – I’d rather wait longer and get something more worth while.
Which brings me to my final point… these coffers, rich or standard they are becoming old.
PRO:-
Dragon Coffer mob drops often, chance of ticket + general zhaitaffy and other goodies.
CONS:-
Rich Dragon Coffer, if i’m spending real money or even gold that has taken me a long time to accumulate I don’t want an increased chance to optain my ticket, I want my item.
Chance to optain is blind luck and results in the lucky and rich being the only to obtain these unique weapon skins which from my point of view sadly stinks.
Why can’t tickets simply go on sale?
(edited by Delgan.8619)
Dragon is only easy because of the mass influx of people… trying killing a dragon with a party of 5 then come back to us with that same comment.
Didn’t they confirm Guild Wars will have Guild Wars but they plan on introducing it when they’re good and ready as they would like it to have a real world competitive edge to it as GW1 did.
My Greatsword / Scepter + Torch Build for Paladin, would really appreciate any opinions – I warn you this build isn’t for those who like to take punishment URL below:
Ritualists will come again in some form, you can’t expect everything at once… as for the concept of Ritualist being taken by the introduction of the new mesmer mechanics, I surpose you could argue this however there are some interesting threads on what people expect the Rt to be like when they do arrive.
Especially nice how people are involving the lore of the current game and the effect it has on the Rt ie. their connection with the spirit world has been lost, they now project their own spirit force into battle <—- Pretty nice idea if you ask me.
Oh I think I know what that is – a bug. If you have the sound turned up you can hear the usual sound a skelk makes when it turns invisible. At that exact spot it repeats that sound over and over. So I am sure it is a bugged skelk in some shape or form. I reported it as such and I have also found the same thing on another map but I forget where that 1 was.
I think you’re right – those “leaves” do look awfully like a skelk tailfin!
It’s a pity, because this would be an awfully good and Guild Wars-appropriate-seeming way to add content (a beanstalk/vine). Perhaps the devs can take inspiration from this!
Sorry I ruined all your guys hope for such a cool add on.
But then again there is that floating city thing on that Queensdale map so perhaps there is still a chance!
I’m pretty sure that floating castle was in GW1 south of the temple of ages, they never did anything with it then – but it did have some lore behind it, look back into the old GW Wiki.
I could be wrong and just looking in all the wrong places.
The Devs were, the Devs are, and the Devs shall be. Not in the spaces we know, but between them, they walk serene and primal, undimensioned and to us unseen. In other words, on Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, etc.
These are all marketing posts….
How can you possibly justify content ruled by its players is a poor method of development, agreed you can’t always appeal to everyone and I’m sure you even have the odd individual who would state that this game is perfect in its current format.
But when the masses speak it is generally for a good reason, it is then down to the designers to implement their requests in a way that doesn’t destroy the games content.
Player content and involvement is paramount to the success of any game, we wouldn’t see the same threads repeated over and over again if something was done about it.
Example:- Mounts
Why won’t they openly say you have your broom and map travels deal with it you’re not getting a 60% speed boost outside of combat! Given you would still get the idiots but at least we’d all be able to give them their marching orders
The developers do read the forums. With all the upcoming content though they do not have time to respond to every thread.
I’m not suggesting they respond to every thread… I’m asking for active involvement on a level that you can at the very least see they’re taking comments onboard.
At the end of the day this game revolves around it’s players, don’t listen to them you lose them.
Understood not all things can be done overnight, but just to hear they’re working on it or are taking them into consideration would be a move in the right direction and give the current player base a little bit of hope…
Hi All
I’ve just recently over the past month started spending my time reading through the forum and even occasionally posting the odd suggestion/request.
Nothing ever seems to feed through to the Anet Developers (not what I post personally but in general), do they have any active involvement with these forums on a level in which they give genuine responses… not some marketing gimmick.
We’re seeing comments and suggestions that would make real dramatic improvements to this game and you don’t have to look hard to spot them they’re always the most talked about threads.
I’m seriously considering packing in the game, the content is over thought, too restrictive and PvP wasn’t even considered one of the worse jobs I’ve ever seen done.
Let me know what you think… I could be wrong and just looking in all the wrong places.
