Just because the raid is easy for you and your raid squad, doesn’t mean that it is easy for the rest.

I am sure there are other ways to gain recognition other than a title. Take a look at the video posted for 5-man VG. Now, that’s quite a feat! But does it ask for a title just because of the challenge? Nope.

There’s a lot of people siting on a lot of gold.I saved up 11k just for legendary armor just to find out im locked out of getting it as it behind raids.And im not one of the chosen few in a guild running raids.Seems crazy to lock the vast majority of players out of legendary armor.

It would be very, very disappointing if majority of the players are allowed to “buy” their way to a legendary armour. We had that for the first generation legendary weapons, and personally, I would prefer not to see a recurrence for legendary armour.

Inspiration is useful in fractals when the situation calls for consistent reflection. It also helps the mesmer to deal with conditions by bringing more options to remove them.

It synergies well with the Domination line’s Blurred Inscription. The distortion sharing helps save the party in occasions when there are no blinds or reflections available.

I prefer the way ANet is currently rolling out the tests. It reminds me a lot of design thinking. The process always seems like a mess at the start but gains clarity through continuous revisions.

A public test server, on the other hand, is stable but cannot accommodate quick changes. It also builds up unnecessary expectations among testers that something significant will be implemented.

The dredge AOE attack is the one where it pounces the ground repeatedly, sending out shock waves that deal a huge amount of damage and inflict 1 agony stack for each hit.

I believe the boss uses this skill if someone in the party is attacking it inside a certain range. To avoid this, maintain range away from the boss or double dodge backwards when you see this attack coming. At most, you’ll take one or two hits before you move out of range.

I remember how people used to skip Lieutenant Kholer in AC runs because he was “too hard”. Now, he is burnt down so quickly that skipping him means losing out on an easy champ chest.

The way the loot system works is also affected by the fact that players will always choose the easiest way to get their reward. So changing the elites to vets without addressing this will still lead to players skipping over them.

Looks like everyone has already said what needs to be said.

Just a cautionary note here on offhand mace. The #5 skill is a projectile and can be reflected by some of the mobs in fractals. Couple of examples include the final face-off against the Legendary Archdiviner, and the Jade Colossus in Jade Maw.

On higher level fractals, it can be deadly to knock yourself or a teammate down while using the skill on a target that’s going to reflect it back.

I thought it was 1-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50.

Agony increase starts at multiples of 10s, i.e. 10, 20, 30, 40 50.

Daily chests are given out in the following tiers: 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50.

OP should have increased his personal reward level by 1, from 15 to 16 since he had completed a scale that was higher than 15.

He should also be rewarded with the daily chest for the tier 11-20 as his personal reward level is at 15.

OP, you might want to consider submitting a ticket since you lost both progression and reward.

This is exactly the only benefit of any new zone. Dungeons are basically a string of events (fights, skips) that lead up to a final boss and end chest. Sounds quite similar to everybody’s favourite Silverwastes. The difference is that a dungeon allows for more interesting content because the limit of 5 people in a team make it easier to work with.

I agree with your point totally. You are correct to say that whether it’s new regions or new dungeons, they are the creation of new experiences for the community; in essence, they are the same.

Now, allow me to draw your attention to this question: What if there was a need to choose between the two? Or a choice among other content that can be put out. Can we assume that there is limitless resources available to develop everything? There has to be a set of priorities to use these resources efficiently. Based on what I have shared earlier, dungeons just isn’t ranked very high up in the list.

I’m sure many would ask the question, “What then? Are we kitten-ed?” I think this has to come from the community. So long as we continue to think that something can or should be done, we may end up over expecting for nothing.

So what do you say? Given that the situation is unlikely to change, would you:

  1. Continue to hold faith that something can or should be done?
  2. Or take it into your hands to make the best out of it?

Personally, I think adding more dungeons isn’t an optimal choice. The cost of doing up an entire dungeon outweighs the benefit of having one.

A new dungeon requires more than just designing the dungeon. There’s the addition of a new dungeon token, new dungeon NPCs, new enemies, story, cut-scenes, armor and weapon skins, stat combination, loot tables, etc.

And the benefit at the end? Not much else other than that players get a new place to explore.

I think we need to come to terms that dungeons as a whole are not likely to get an update anytime soon. And that it would be more efficient for new “dungeon-like” content to be included in fractals (saves time on creating currency, NPCs, skins, etc).

Yup, you are correct. Though this begs the question of whether the experience gained from dungeons will take a hit given that it could potentially fill up the Mastery track faster than doing dynamic events at HoT-specific regions. Also, why spend 2 hours doing a fractal when you could finish 3 dungeon paths in under 45 mins.

What do you think? Would they nerf dungeon exp? Or reduce the contribution to the Mastery track? Or simply cut off dungeons altogether. Wow, that last option would really suck for players who love dungeons.

Spirit Shards

Forgive me if I missed a post/thread in here about this, but…

  • Leveling up after level 80 no longer grants skill points, but level 80 characters will be able to loot spirit shards off of monsters.

Does that mean we won’t be getting spirit shards from completing dungeons? Currently we’d be getting about 70% of one. We still might get them from the trash we kill in dungeons, but be real here.. Anet is obviously going to balance them for open world event farmers.

Seems to be that way – we won’t be getting Spirit Shards from leveling up past 80. If the Mastery system was implemented, leveling up after 80 should add the experience into the Mastery track.

From what I understood, spirit shards are a random drop off enemies, still dropped from champ bags, and all current SP are converted to shards upon logging in on a character for the first time after the patch with an unknown ETA. However we will get that experience from the end dungeon reward going to the masteries( 1 set is only in HoT, 1 set in the current world).

Sadly the Mastery System is region specific. So doing a dungeon in vanilla Tyria will not progress the Mastery tracks that are tied to HoT. (Source)

OP has a valid point. Between the patch that will introduce Spirit Shards and the release of the Mastery Point system, there is going to be a phase when players are “short changed” for leveling up at 80.

Whatever experience gained during this phase would have gone into the Mastery Point system; potentially “wasted” if the two are not implemented at the same time.

The hammer’s #3 skill now pulses 1 stack of Stability (lasts for 1s) every second.

There was no nerf, more of a change due to how Stability works.

forget the skins, plz stop giving me Healers Shoulder chests. i currently have 3 in my bank, and have used 2 prior for skins and cele gear.

Use them to complete the ascended collection?

A far-fetched thought, but with the recent release of the Revenant’s healing heavy legendary, Ventari, healing power might be a viable stat in the coming future. But that’s just my personal opinion, it could very well be inefficient to stack healing power.

I guess there already is countless amount of posts about ascended rings but i would really appreciate if someone from AN could tell us if we’ll ever get an option to trade/salvage those rings. I already have 300+ asc rings stored on my alts and to be honest I get mad every time i get a new one

Here’s a +1 for the dedication!

Ever since the change that made ascended items account bound on acquire as opposed to soulbound on use, I’ve only kept a copy of an un-infused ring and an infused ring each. (Although each ring is unique and you can’t equip two rings of the same name, you can by-pass this restriction if one of them is infused and the other is not)

The rest I just vendor them.

Drop rate research paints a general overview of the loot tables. And if the drop rates had been altered, it should show up in the research. Like the one linked by Xcorpdog.2840.

We have to recognize the delicate balance between incentivizing the effort spent to complete the fractal and exclusivity of the end reward.

In other words, if the tonic were a fairly common loot, it loses its uniqueness. And it is precisely because of this uniqueness that we continue to run higher scale fractals.

Personally, I think these are the two factors that throw high scale fractals’ reward into question:

  1. Mismatch between amount of effort spent and the reward at the end
  2. Limited access to roll for the reward more than once per day

For (1), if the party was able to clear the fractal within 30 mins, I suspect that there will be fewer suggestions to “correct” the loot tables.

For (2), we have similar items that are on “abysmal drop rates”, like the Queen Bee. But we have heard little to no feedback about it. Why? Because we can roll for it as many times as we want.

So how do we address this?

  • Reduce fractal difficulty? – Re-balance the effort spent vs reward
  • Leave it to the community to form specialized teams that clear fractals efficiently? – Keeps the exclusivity of the tonic but marginalizes a larger segment of the community
  • Make the tonic accessible at lower fractal tiers but at even lower drop rates? – Opens up options but risks losing exclusivity of the tonic as there are more chances for people to roll for it

These are questions that ANet can consider as well. Fixing the reward specifically for the higher tiers is unlikely to result in a solution that satisfies everyone.

I admire your philanthropic suggestion but doing a fractal 50 to get a lower reward just doesn’t make sense to me.

The suggestion could work for a small group of players who can afford the time to help others complete their 50s. Personally, I think there is little incentive for the general community to want such a system in place.

SoR is slowly but surely building ourselves back up. We welcome everyone who wants to do WvW, regardless of your class, your level or how much experience you have had with large-scale PvP.

We do need more people, both leaders and capable men, during the 7am – 10am (server time) timezone. Our guild [ZërO] runs a small havoc group during this timezone and are working on holding down our own borderland when we raid. I would think that supply camps will become meaningless if players are to drop their supplies when they are defeated.

This may result in the seeking out of groups to kill for supply instead of capturing camps since killing an enemy now rewards me with WXP, Bag of Loot, XP and even supply.

However, it could also lead to more direct clashes in the short run. But, in the long run, I suspect that forces will avoid conflict – especially the under strength-ed server.

We need to come to terms with the RNG system. Yes it rewards players based on “luck” but random rewards are also the exact reason why players continue to run the dungeon – “to have another go at it to try their luck again”.

The random reward system also creates scarcity, which is important in encouraging trade on the TP. In my opinion, it is unlikely that ANet will release the jetpack on the gem store as doing so will impact transactions on the TP.

They could, on the other hand, release other skins that are related to the Flame & Frost theme to satisfy those who have not gotten the jetpack. More gems!

I’ve been running the dungeon daily since it was released (once or twice per day), probably done about 20-ish runs. The only exotics I’ve gotten so far are 2 inscriptions and that’s about it (have accumulated over 10 rare inscriptions).

The problem with these inscriptions are that they are deemed as worthless because crafting is not profitable. Had crafting been profitable, I doubt we’ll be seeing threads asking the drop rate for skins.
