[KnT] Knight Gaming, known in GW2 as Knights of the Temple, is an international, friendly, and competitive gaming community. In GW2, we are a WvW focused guild on the Blackgate server. We raid 3-4 times a week fielding 40-60 players with 100 members online during NA prime every day and 15-30 players with 60-70 online during Oceanic prime. We are highly active from 3pm to 3am server time daily, encompassing 12 hours of play. KnT also has fun, scheduled guild events and runs Guild Missions 3 times a week at varying times so that all time zones can participate. We are also part of a server-wide coalition of guilds dedicated to organized WvW play. Recruitment is currently restricted to veteran, experienced players and friends/family of current guild members. If you are applying, we look for exceptional individuals that really want to be a part of our community; make sure you put effort and thought into an application if submitting.

I don’t post much here any more, but I’d just like to say I’m deeply concerned for SoR.

I don’t know what internal issues are going on, but I do not have enough animosity towards our “rivalry” that I’d ever wish the collapse of a server. You provide competition in T1. Something that no other server short of JQ is capable of.

All I’m going to say is if you don’t start to show up and fight, the situation will only get worse. Tempers will flare and -some- guilds will probably look to leave the server or the game out of frustration.

I am begging you guys to come out and fight us in the numbers I know you can field. It isn’t fun for anyone with the performance that has gone on over the past 7 days. Where did the fire and dedication go that was there through the first 3 days last week?

To be clear, I’m not trolling, just asking you all to come out and fight.

200% what boulder said. I am in disbelief what the past week has done to WvW. First the nerf to stomp points and then the league schedule. Jesus, we know that devs play on JQ, but maybe they could learn to PvP instead of adjusting the game to lack skill?

So, this is going to be shorter than my original post because these POS forums seem to have eaten it. Not surprised there.

The whole point of reducing the servers in Gold League from 12 to 6 was to ensure that there would be less blowout matches. Yet, even with the reduced servers, this schedule is still complete and utter bullkitten.

JQ gets 3 free wins (no offense to the #4-6 servers). While SoR and BG basically get 1 apiece. Essentially, JQ could LOSE in the matchup of the actual top 3 and still win seasons.

This is supposed to be a matchup of who is the best, yet you somehow gave the -current- #1 server by far the easiest schedule while ensuring that their closest competition got the most difficult matches in all but 1 week, including going head to head by themselves TWICE.

Nothing is lost if you change this schedule since the week just started, but if it stays the same, maybe we’ll all just log out for 7 weeks and your new “competition” for GW2 can go kitten itself.

I am absolutely floored that scheduling like this was allowed to occur. You should be absolutely ashamed of yourselves as these matchups were CLEARLY not random. There are a max of 10 unique matchups, yet we are playing the SAME matchups 3 separate times during seasons. I don’t know who told you that RNG with weighted odds was a good idea, but it is really REALLY kittenty.

Get your kitten together, ANet. Unkitteningbelievable.

It provided room to outplay. “We’re losing harder than we would normally be losing,” is a really kitten excuse.

Stomp points didn’t help servers who were PvDooring because there was NO ONE TO STOMP. It gave servers the chance to outplay their opponents. No, it isn’t a “cure all” for coverage deficits, but a cure for that doesn’t exist. It brought the most dynamic and skill-based gameplay that WvW has ever seen and we kittened so much that it got nerfed into the ground within 3 weeks. Now, the stats are crap and “making sure your opponents don’t have it” isn’t really an incentive. People are going to hold one buff and map zerg as hard as ever.

As the best changes ever brought to WvW get phased into irrelevance, I can only sit here and look at the absolute morons who, even after a year of gameplay, really just do not understand how WvW works or why things are the way they are in-game at even the most basic of levels. Population has always and will always let servers win if it is too great. The bloodlust buffs and stomp points gave servers a fighting chance when their coverage is close within reason.

Balancing a game to make things “more fair” or “less kittenty” or w/e you would like to call it for servers with low population is a really poor way to design a game that is supposed to be inherently balanced towards greater numbers. If your server is going to lose anyway, why do you care so kitten much about the stomp points? You shouldn’t. The stats, I can understand being changed (even though the buffs were designed for small group play and were not sustainable by zergs), but the stomp points were the most impactful part of this change and now it has become essentially worthless because the one part of the buff that NO ONE complained about got destroyed in the process.

Bravo, all you crying carebears. You ruined the only good thing that ever happened to WvW just in time for seasons.

This is a great idea. Other games have abilities that cleanse (read: stun break) give a temporary immunity/reduction of all cc’s after use. This change would go a long way towards keeping CC a strong tool, but providing counterplay.

What is Gee Vee Gee? Is it a new WvW feature they added while I was away?

The new stat buffs are great. Try figuring out the meta instead of assuming everything is a zergfest. I’ve had more small scale fights in the last 2 days in WvW than in the previous several months. The new terrain is INCREDIBLE and the stat buff is able to be held by small groups NOT a group of 40. Until servers figure out how to play with small groups, they will just get s*** on by the servers that do. My server was ticking sub-200 while we were gaining points on the server ticking 300-plus because we held the buff and actually killed people. Whine and moan all you want, but I hope ANet never removes this. It is balanced, directly benefits small groups, provides incredible terrain for creative engagement, and adds more layers of strategy. If anyone proposes that we go back to how it was or take the stats away, people won’t care about the middle of the map and all of the sudden we’re back to playing “who has the largest zerg”. Actually try playing the game instead of just complaining. And uplevels can get the stat bonuses too to be better while they roam. Why don’t you go cap the points so that big mean level 80 (with ascended gear btw, but I don’t see you complaining about that) can’t crap all over you with his “unfair stats”?

You all keep quoting Habib. Let’s see. You can’t hack these and you can’t hide them in an upgraded keep to hoard all your stats. They transfer fluidly between servers unless you allocate people to protect and hold the points. Just because you can’t strategically comprehend a level of gameplay doesn’t make it broken or stupid.

When your server is in the PPT lead, it’s not really playing for second.

We have received no guilds that were not already here. The most recent transfers were our friends from Kaineng: WM, RISE, KO, Meow

We never bought guilds. I don’t know how else to spell this out. We donated gold that was completely voluntary to guilds that needed help to get the rest of their members over. We’re a community and these guild are part of our family. We love having them here.

You should know as well as anyone that no server, especially Blackgate, is in extreme risk of falling to Tier 2, therefore there is nothing to play for other than first place. JQ has the players still; they just need to show up. You all insult yourselves and the legacy of your server by not playing your hearts out.

Good fights in EB tonight. It’s been fun so far.

Servers are still down as far as I know so don’t count on one until they are up.

So, forum warriors, what if I told you all of the reasons that you love SoR are the same reasons that I love Blackgate, the same reasons I have been there since launch, and the same reasons that I and my guild come out to fight every day? What if I told you that we take donations from guildies in order to help guilds who can’t get all their players over? What if I told you that yes, we absolutely play more hours to offset our coverage because we care about handing off good maps and helping out our other time zones? What if I told you that this is a game and the character assassination of Blackgate is pretty old hat?

Come on guys, grow up a little. The week might be lost, it might not. You can hate Blackgate all you want, but at the end of the day we are just as resilient as you. We’ve been to Tier 4 and battled back. Guilds have moved here for our community and helped us rise through the ranks. How is that any different from your server? I understand the notion of trash talking opponents, but flat out wishing the death of the only servers that give you competition is pretty lame. Maybe we should make a god tier where you can run around in your maps all by yourself while JQ, BG, and DB enjoy a friendly, competitive match since you are so out of our league?

Let’s cut the crap here. There have been good fights, but the persistent chest thumping is pretty disgusting. Go ahead and try and hold me responsible for chest thumping. Go through my post history. You will find none. Maybe you could all follow my example and say, “good game, good fights, /salute” instead of posting about wanting to get +600 and having no comprehension of how unhealthy that really is for the game.

Why would anyone afk in WvW to play the trading post? I find it really useful because I would buy food, etc. in order to continue to WvW on the fly. It’s pretty silly that you can’t do that now.

If you’re a good commander, people will follow you. If you are a bad commander, people will learn to not. Please use the search feature and recognize that there are HUNDREDS of threads just like this one that have resulted in ANet not changing a thing because the current system is fine.

Yep Viz seems asleep but also Elona doing very good at day and has some ppl to stay over to do night watch. Being away from Viz for so long gave them nice refreshment Wish we had more ppl on Deso, but it’s still fun in the evenings :P

I have a guildie taking a little EU vacation on Augury Rock and he told me that you all do something astonishing in that you manage to not care about PPT outside of your primetime. Maybe it is an NA thing where we have “24” hour coverage in Tier 1, but we have a much higher propensity to play overtime in order to get those points and win the match. It takes a lot of courage to look at Viz and say, “kitten it, we’re not going to try and out-coverage you.” The NA side is pretty much a different landscape though. I wish that they would get East Coast servers and then merge NA and EU because of the nature of WvW being coverage based in order to “win”. Or just put Vizunah in the NA brackets and see what happens

Fights were intense last night on JQ, BG, and SoR Borderlands. KnT got to hop around a bit and I have to say, those were some of the fiercest battles we’ve had in Tier 1 to date. /salute to all guilds, friend and foe, that bring it every day making WvW the PvP paradise that it is.

Kalla, much respect. There are great fights to be had and there is a lot of actual competition for victory, not just in certain time zones. We are far closer to a balanced T1 than anyone realizes and that is the healthiest thing for this game. I thank the Six every day that we aren’t like T1 EU.

We’re HoD 3.0 now. HoD 2.0 was so 7 months ago and we saw that we weren’t stacked enough. It’s like one of those unlimited IHOP pancake stackers where we just keeping piling them on top, obviously.

Stop with all the bag thumping. It’s only 1pm here, I have a senior thesis to finish writing, and I’m about to succumb to alcohol poisoning.

As far as KnT being out in greater numbers, we certainly have seen our best participation in weeks. We did a bit of internal restructuring of our leadership to make it better suited to me not playing 40+ hours a week this quarter and I think that has been very effective as well. It got pretty hard when we felt like we are beating our heads against a brick wall while outmanned. Really excited to have our new friends from KN here and they’ve really energized our player base. I think all servers will be far more sustainable the closer matches are because there is something to fight for.

KN guilds transferring is really shaking up tier 1, I just hope that the competition is close, I don’t care who wins, I just want WvW to be interesting, and I’ve wanted this for a very long time now, even when I was on SoS and they were still winning.

This man gets it. I am surprised very few other BG posters have acknowledged the large influx of players they have received recently. Set this influx against some recent changes on JQ and we have good competition for number 1 spot. JQ needs to pull its socks up. Lets see if that can happen.

I 100% agree. Most of the server leadership on Blackgate has wanted an even and competitive Tier 1 for months, especially the efforts put in by Laylyn to try and make that a reality. In all honesty, I really want SoR to get more players as well. A true 3-way fight for first would be nothing short of perfection in WvW.

JQ, if you lose, there won’t be any siege griefer to try and blame this time around. You still have the largest population of any server in the game both in PvE and WvW. Mobilize those people. Devona’s Rest seems like a great bunch. They also have one of the best recruiting videos I’ve ever seen. The guys on Anvil Rock are great too. I’d recommend either of those servers very highly

Much respect to all opponents and allies alike. Every week seems to be a little more competitive than the last these days.

Let’s not forget that our ideal match isn’t supposed to be about who is “best” or who can win every week. It is supposed to be a competitive 3-way match where all servers can actually challenge for first place so all players stay encouraged and interested.

Every week, I see us take steps towards that reality and, as it gets closer, I see all of our servers becoming healthier and more sustainable so we can have great matches together for a long time to come!

Is the score ever really different besides numbers? JQ is in the lead, likely going to win again because they’ve got the coverage. SoR is about 4k points ahead of BG and BG is about 4k points behind SoR.

Not much is going to really change, besides the gaps getting bigger and occasionally BG will pull 48 hour shifts.

Rumor has it, sometimes people try! And when they do, everyone should make fun of them for being tryhards because they beat us!

Cleaving should be increased to 5 and aoe capped skills should be increased to 8 or 9.

The cap needs to be raised, not removed. Remove the cap and the game would just be absolutely ridiculous.

I see new stuff every single week. Tactics shifting, especially in siege and open field make it easier for those behind the curve to catch up since they are learning the new “meta” of sorts at the same time as those who were up to speed. Eventually, everyone gets to the same level and the advantage goes to whatever guild or force is pushing their tactics and strats to the max

ANet: swinging the nerf bat like Carlos Pena since 2012. Striking out again.

Nerfs aren’t the answer. Instead of making other classes MORE viable, they choose to make classes LESS viable. I spent 140g on my mesmer to craft and gear and make it look awesome to have a fun to play alt, now I’m not sure I will ever play it again until I deck it out in power/crit gear since conditions (aka only confusion) are going to massively suck. Let’s not forget that if you bring cleanses, it doesn’t hurt you. Confusion only hurts the unobservant or those with no defensive skills (big surprise there).

Sure, it’s a different game in Tier 1 these days that some of our guilds have never faced and others have not seen in quite a while. It might be a learning curve, but they’ll be back in the swing of things shortly! 1 day in tier 1 doesn’t make or break a guild. Just means you are more prone to die to them by underestimating their skill in a couple weeks
