Was wondering if anyone else is having this problem; been having it for weeks now. I live in VA, ISP is CenturyLink. About 6pm my ping hits 230ms+ and sits there. (Average ping is ~120ms). Happens like clockwork, doesn’t seem to die out until around 12am. Problem appears to be at ALTER.NET?

Obvious jumps at hop 8 (167 ms 63.146.26.106) and even further jump at jump 9 with ALTER.NET (241 ms 0.ae1.XT4.DFW9.ALTER.NET [140.222.225.49]).

ANET told me they couldn’t help me because its happening before their network; ISP doesn’t own ALTER.NET..so..dunno what to do. Problem legit magically vanishes and I can play again at like 12am.

Been playing Warrior since launch. Warriors has felt like the underdog class forever. I could rarely, if ever, find teams for Tpvp because “warriors suck and their niche suck and other classes do everything better.”

I would eventually leave Tpvp altogether, and take my hand at WvWvW.

Before the buffs, I struggled a little bit. Warriors lack survivability altogether at this point. It was get in>kill>die. Unless you were rolling GS+sword mainhand, you often didn’t get out of a zerg alive. I used hammer anyway. I was always a hammer warrior in GW1.

During this time I would surprisingly love to use mainhand axe. The raw damage output spread throughout the autoattack chain would punish other people who played passively and didn’t get off my face. Little did I know, axe would soon be nerfed into oblivion. The damage all moved to the very last hit of the chain. With that simple change, axe was no longer viable in PVP unless you wanted to play gimmicks and eviscerate upscaled leveled people.

It didn’t matter. I still had my hammer. I still had my kitten survivability, kitten niche, and kitten mobility. I did what I could in zergs. Glorious survival changes came. No longer did I feel like a weaker version of the Guardian class.

We gained a unique build and finally, a unique niche. No longer were we “loldamage.” We finally gained a build that gave us what we needed: survival and damage.

You see,people who don’t play a Warrior, or people who decided to FOTM, the Warrior (as stated by Anet!) was the “closest to balance” at launch. Warrior, at launch, had 2 options: Defense, and offense. If you were defensive, you lacked offensive power. If you were offensive, you lacked defensive power. This was a perfect line of balance. The problem, however, was that every other class had access to both of the options at once in some form of way via traits or class gimmicks. Warrior had none, and thus, was the weakest class. It is only until we gained both, and brought up to par with other classes, that everyone began complaining.

Hammer is broken? Stability is hard, I know. It’s really really hard to swap a skill out that counters the entire, and i mean..entire, point of a build. unsuspecting foe doesn’t work if you aren’t stunned. Push your god *** stability button or learn to telegraph and push roll. Congrats, you have royally screwed over the Warrior.

With all the tears of people not wanting to push stability and roll, we have gained a possible over nerf- massive percentage reductions in the damage hammer will do,along with inaccess to UF.

I ponder, what exactly are we to do now? At the worst end of the spectrum, hammer becomes a complete control weapon. No longer a viable weapon for solo roaming or even group play as you will sacrifice to much power. You might be able to stun someone for ~4s (Or not! Maybe they will bring stability or push roll!), but you will lack the damage to be an actual threat.

With these nerfs, our gained niche is now gone. We are longer a threat, and we are once again reduced to being either “offensive” or “defensive.” Running around with a greatsword with kitten defense because we have to trait into damage, so we end up dying to random AOE accidental from a zerg…or running around with a hammer with kitten damage because we have to trait into defense to live long enough to maybe CC someone for just a few seconds.

We are back to square one.
Make the ground even this time. Take away every other classes tricks. Make them spec full offensive or defense. Make them lose their niche altogether. Make them become a hollow shell of a class that once, after almost a year, finally shined brightly.

I will once again fade into the shadows, with my giant blade, as a weaker version with less utility guardian.

I guess I’ll deal with it. Allowed us to deal viable damage while CCing..but..okay. I guess we need to be like Warriors in other MMOs where we struggle without a partner holding our hand.

We also reduced the damage on the hammer’s burst skill to separate the control from the damage. We don’t mind warriors doing massive damage, or doing great area of effect control, but we’re trying to prevent them from easily doing both.

Pick between damage or control. Kind of like when the game launched, a year ago, when Warriors were complete garbage and laughed at in Tpvp. Great.

We also increased the readability of Skull Crack, which will allow opposing players to more easily react to it.

Why? Because of whiners? Because people can’t figure out to push stability? Or push roll when a Warrior with a mace mainhand is smacking them in the face?

Defense XII – Spiked Armor. Reduced the recharge from 15s to 10s.
Still a garbage trait.

Tactics 25 – Reviver’s Might. Now applies 3 stacks of Might instead of 1.
Also still garbage.

Discipline XI – Burst Mastery. Reduced damage increase from 10% to 7%. Removed erroneous adrenaline gain fact.
Why nerf ALL Burst damage? Most of them suck anyway (see:greatsword)

Earthshaker. Reduced damage by 20%.
Staggering Blow. Reduced damage by 23%.

Over nerfing imo.

Skull Crack. Increased the cast time from 1/4s to 1/2s. Updated the animation and effects of this skill to be more clear.

You’re right. It IS an MMO. GW2 was SUPPOSE to be the MMO where you didn’t have to actually WORK for endgame gear (stats). Little effort was required: this was the point of the game. Little emphasis on gear..the gear is easy to get. After that, you can simply do whatever you wanted: WvWvW,Spvp, dungeons, or chase that legendary or mini-legendary skin. However,you had no worries of being left behind with tiered gear.

Did any of you play before Ascended gear,or are you all new people?
Ascended gear was introduced which caved the entire game’s base philosophy.
It is now a grind-gearmill like every other MMO.
The OP had the vision of when the game was first released.

Hello!

Recently I’m noticing a trend in all the builds that I make, along with the builds from fellow warriors in my guild and on the forums:Fast hands included.

I seem to be unable to make a build that doesn’t include this trait. I find that it is far, far to important. Being able to swap weapons consistently and put out as much utility and control that I can gives me a “unique edge” It gives us extreme utility along with diversity.

We do not generally have “gimmicks” that other classes have. Necros have deathshroud, thieves have stealth, mesmers have clones guardians have heals…ect. We lack a “unique” aspect that allows our class to excel. In general, we are seen as “damage.”

However, looking at class diversity, fast hands is something extremely unique to the warrior as no other class has access to it. To extend that point, I do believe that Warriors function more-so off their weapon sets as opposed to any other class. This is the Warrior -a master of arms-, so it sort of “makes sense” for this ability to be an attractive feature of the class.

Thoughts?

Banner rework:

Banners are now equiped on your skill bar like Signets. Passively, they are always active and shown visibly on your back. When activated, the banner is thrown down, the effect and range are doubled. The banner can also then be picked up like normal on live and moved around. When the banner is down, it cannot be placed on your back until the cooldown is finished.

I would like to see passive banners on my back. They would simply have a reduced effect and reduced range when not placed down.

Hello! I recently read the patch notes and saw they did some “clean up” with landing Bull’s Rush/Rush/Juggernaut charge thing

This led me to wonder if I’m the only one that has issues landing Shield Bash. I imagine it is because it has such a small range, and the lag from WvWvW can be altering..

However I have a very difficult time,if ever, landing shield bakitten will always say “Miss!” despite me charging right into their face. It also stutters/seems to lag.

Anyone else experience this?

Holy kitten, this is just about on par with the WOW forums at the moment. Class changes and everyone cries a river…

The mark move to 2nd tier sucks. A lot. But whatever, because they buffed the default radius.

Now:
“Damage taken while in death shroud will now overflow to the necromancer’s health pool if the damage taken is greater than the remaining life force.”

How did it not ALREADY do this? In fact, I assumed that it DID already do this. You can have 10% lifeforce and swap into deathshroud to eat an entire eviscerate? Is that what is implied without the change? (On live now?) If so,that is EXTREMELY stupid. Lifeforce acts as a second life bar with some utility abilities..why would it NOT pool into your base life bar if it ran out during an attack?

Hi. In almost all MMO/RPG games, I played the Warrior archtype.

I played gw1 as a warrior, blah blah blah, came to gw2 on launch, and have played warrior since launch.

I’ve become more or less beyond frustrated with the warrior class (and lack of dev response at any point regarding their issues,such as sustain) in WvWvW, so I’m looking to roll an alt.

I managed to get a necromancer up to level 40 before loling deciding that leveling it further would be a waste of time.

Now, in general, mesmers (as a warrior) are extremely annoying. I can usually just cleave down clones..but they’re still annoying. So really, all I know is that you have clones. and stealth.

I’m looking for some hard info about how mesmers perform in wvwvw:

1.Overall,do you think your class is a strong suit in WvWvW?
2.Do you feel your traits are synergized nicely? (IE “Wiggle room”)
3.Is Greatsword a viable weapon for WvWvW? If so, what type of armor affix? (berserker,knight,ect?)

Greetings everyone.

As of late, I’ve been running with Power/Toughness/Vitality on my armor (The armor set from Honor of the Waves). I’m pretty tanky, and I use a mostly defensive hammer build with this armor. I find my in-mid-battle survivability kinda sucks (which I attribute to a class issue), so i’m beginning to wonder if the extra Vit i’m carrying is even worth it.

Now this is basically a case of “Damage versus Survivability”, but I’m finding more and more that Warriors appear to NEED tons of damage to…survive. Our class seems to rely on “kill or be killed.”

On that notion, I’m looking for a more offensive hammer build. and possibly even a greatsword build. But this isn’t about the build, per say. It’s about the armor stats.

I’m unsure of what the vit:health ratio is. However, since I lack precision (i use berserker ring/ammy/ect, so I get SOME precision and crit damage from those), my killing power is somewhat limited.

So, in everyone’s experience…

P/T/V, or Knight?

I’m trading vit for precision; I will gain a ton of crit chance, and lose health. I will also gain toughness as the toughness stat is higher on Knight as opposed to the P/T/V set.

Then there’s berserker. I KIND of want to try berserker, but I can’t help but feel like a scrub (sorry, but really) using it. Running around with 18k health basically waiting to get 2shot by someone with a brain..I really just…yeah. It’s probably more P/T/V vs Knight.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Lodestones

The OP is right. Lodestones are basically the most ridiculous thing in the game at the moment.

Lodestones are required for nearly every single “unique” skin; they are also required in some runes,ect.

However, since they are required for skins, they are rare.
But they are to rare..

Why am I not allowed to farm anything in this game? WHY are the drop rates so bad? 2 hours and not a single corrupted lodestone is very unacceptable.

The resources are there.
Lodestone exchange for:
Karma. DIRECTLY. The orrian jewelry boxes are more RNG garbage. I’ve spent 200k karma and i’ve gotten 2 lodestones.
Dungeon Tokens
Laurels

Why is this not happening? Stop adding in more RNG on top of RNG. Nobody likes this much RNG.

But really, why are lodestones >so important yet so hard to get<? What is the “reason”? There are very arbitrarily hard to get. You either have tons of cash, and therefore unique skins, or you are mostly broke, and have basic skins.

GW1 was not a MMO, it was a co opRPG with some multiplayer tacked on.

Gw2 is an MMO, and a good one I might add. I am not surprised that Anet is thinking ahead and seeing the big picture for the betterment of their players and the game in the long run.

Alright, I’ve become incredibly lost and fed up with this issue at this point.
So we all know about ascended gear, and infusions, ect.

Okay..so here is my source:

1 Vial of Condensed Mists Essence- havent gotten one yet, but alright.
50 Globs of Ectoplasm- little steep, but i guess it is a brand new back piece.
24 skill points- alright, sure.
250 Teir 6 fine crafting material- um..what?
And that 250 tier 6 is for my piece is…armored scales!
The only time i’ve ever farmed armored scales is when i need some for a weapon I was crafting. After 2.5-3 hours of farming drakes (in MF gear), i ended up with…2!
And Balthazaar knows i probably hit the DR before the first one even kitten dropped..

Moving along..
We need to infuse this gear,yeah? Lets see..

Base back slot item-Okay..
Glob of Coagulated Mists Essence- Havent gotten one still,but alright..
Gift of Ascension- 500 fractal shards…thats pretty annoying,but alright?
250 Globs of Ectoplasm-LOL? Are we catering to those that got rich via exploiting the precursor farming? (And sure, ecto isnt THAT expensive, but a whole stack for ONE piece?)

So, at this point, the “end game” achievement..is a fractal weapon. You need the ascended gear to get there, ect, and those are basically the “end goal” from the high fractal difficulties.

Except…hell, i wont even try to guess how many people will actually make it there.

But the problem is..WHY IS EVERYTHING LIKE THIS?
WHY IS EVERYTHING SO EXPENSIVE/REQUIRES A kitten AMOUNT OF MATERIALS?
WHY AM I REQUIRED TO GAIN A LARGE AMOUNT OF MATERIALS IN A GAME THAT HAS VERY STRICT REGULATIONS WHEN IT COMES TO GRINDING?

Seriously? I am required to have absurd materials, which requires me to grind, but I cannot do that because of diminishing returns and grind regulations.

I’ve been thinking about this throughout the entire event.
There is nothing…to work towards.
Why aren’t there new armor sets?
We have almost nothing to buy with karma…legendary materials and the Orr set.
Why not make a Karka karma set?

The new island is just…Orr 1.5 basically, except…nothing to work towards.
No armor…no weapons..no cosmetic things..nothing.
I feel like the new zone is just..“there”

FotM is alright, and you can work towards the weapon and ascended accessories (which as many issues but i wont go into that) so thats nice..but again the new zone..

Why no karka weapons or armor to work towards?
And don’t mention those consortium chest skins.
Seriously, please drop this RNG gamble garbage i see in free2play games like vindictus and dragon’s nest.

So…why no karka stuff on the island to buy/work towards?

Will we be seeing any [actual] PVP content anytime soon?

Hello! I don’t intend to sound greedy, and I have been enjoying the Halloween update a lot. It was a major PVE update, and now you all have another planned for November. That’s great. I enjoy PVE. The amount of content in the Halloween update was incredible, and I enjoyed every bit of it. So,thank you..

But..

I recall buying GW2 for PVP. I’ve spent far more time (and fun) PVEing as opposed to PVP. The PVP really feels unfinished (sorry,but it really does).
I understand the resources required to create content and balance it.

I will say that I was extremely excited when it was stated that GW2’s main competitive mode would be point domination. This seemed like a fresh change of pace from arena deathmatching. However..at this point, I kind of wish it was arena deathmatching. Bunker builds are unfun to play as and to fight against, and the pace of the game is really just…slow and uninteresting.

People are asking for spectator modes and ranking,ect..and I believe that is indeed required, but I actually would rather have (at this point) more variety

Capture the flag? Team deathmatch? Arena? How about team objective, such as a small version of WvWvW (where one team defends a small fortress,the other assualts)? Or a payload mode (one team must push an object across the map, the other must stop that object)?
Really…anything.

I don’t think we need more domination maps. I really believe that we need more game modes. If you add more game modes, you can make your server browser swap modes every round. Since the browser is so close to FPS games, you can mimic it further with this. One round is CTF, the next is conquest, the next is payload, ect.

This will keep SPVP on a more fresh basis. Right now it’s the same few maps, and the same game mode. Every single time.

While there are individual issues with SPVP (8v8 maps, glory not really rewarded for defending), I really feel that we just need more variety.

On a point of the “casual” crew, I wanted to make a note about paid tournaments: they did not fix the PUGvPRE problem at all.
Paid tournaments require a rather high number of tickets…and you get those tickets from playing Free. Where do you think the PREs farm their tickets? Free is still very unfriendly for the “casual” crew as you’re going to get matched with PREs nearly guaranteed.
There really needs to be match making of some sort..or just take away the ticket requirement from paid tournaments…or make the tickets obtained much easier. (direct glory to ticket conversion?)

Overall I’m just asking if PVP will get any new actual content. I do not consider paid tournaments “new” content whatsoever.

What do you all think?

Wow, so much crap in this thread. And no, I am not sanitizing my “tone” for the benefit of sensitive individuals, as I am pretty bloody angry and thus unlikely to give a toss about your feelings or your impression of me.

For starters, every weapon should have a use, and all sorts of builds should be viable for every class. Having to toss in a hammer or mace because nothing else works is a problem (and let’s be honest here – if it’s effective against a bunker, it’s effective against everything).

Secondly, have you actually tried to melee a kiting elementalist build? Are you seriously suggesting that melee is the only way to deal with them when they have so many ways to counter enemies that are attempting to engage them in such distances?

Thirdly, if a class can’t deal with bunker spec while others can something is wrong with that class. I don’t even care how you justify this, if warrior as a whole sucks at dueling then they suck, period.

Fourthly, you can point at any special build you want, all it proves is that that particular build is effective, not that the game as a whole is in any way balanced. That engineer build in particular is extremely effective simply because it’s so heavy on CC… heavier on CC than just about any other build out there.

Finally, I’m too tired and kitten to think straight, so I’m GTFO. The game thus far has been such a friggin’ disappointment to me I don’t even want to deal with it right now, just, ugh, kitten ..

Another option for bunker busting as a Warrior is CC’ing them off the point to neutralize. Taugrim has a great damage+CC, rifle/hammer build. Can’t say this would work that well on an elementalist because of the amount of stun breaks, but it puts a lot of pressure on who ever you’re hitting.

Wanted to also chime in on this, since I main warrior.
Warrior versus bunker is more or less ****** for the warrior in any situation.
Bunkers rely purely on tankyness and CC.
It is VERY EASY to out-CC and out-live a warrior. Warrior is an extremely limited class at the moment.

Yes they have said it repeatedly, each time they do it is dumb. It has been brought up several times if full on burst counters full on bunker then by proxy burst counters condition( it can kill them before they stack conditions), if the glass cannon burst can then counter other burst because of their low defenses and health then all that is left in the meta is burst.

If a bunker cannot stalemate a dps 1v1 then they are pointless, why would you have one if a thief can come burst them down in a few seconds?

No, every time THIS is repeated it is dumb.

This is how it’s SUPPOSED to work:

- Burst/glass cannon builds counter bunker builds by forcing them to either retreat from the point or die faster than any other build can manage
- Bunker builds can hold points longer than any other build, but sacrifice killing power to do so – they should be unable to kill even glass cannon builds (in fact, they shouldn’t be able to kill anybody)
- Balanced builds counter burst builds by having the damage mitigation to survive their burst while dishing out enough damage to defeat their squishy butts
- Condition builds are supposed to support any of the above by dramatically reducing the combat efficiency of the enemy while dealing decent sustained DPS, they are NOT supposed to be 1v1

Right now, thief mobility + burst effectively counters every other glass cannon build and thus makes them irrelevant, while bunker builds are so tough that even the highest DPS builds in the entire game can’t unseat them in a reasonable amount of time. This has resulted in the incredibly stale and boring meta we are now stuck with until AN does something drastic.

And that’s how it is.

At the moment, bunkers have the best of both worlds. They can defend and assume an offensive position. Bunkers should not be able to kill, or drag fights out for an absurd amount of time like they can now.

If you are defending HAVING to take 2 players off the game field to counter 1, then I believe you are misunderstanding the idea of balance.

Yes, this is a team game. No, it cannot be balanced 1v1.
However, with GW2’s strive to be an e-sport, there needs to be a much larger gap inbetween skill and skill-less.

I was looking forward to having the main competitive mode NOT be death match (arena).
Now, I really wish it was death match.

I wanted to chime in and say I agree with Vit/Tough/Power.
I’m currently using the HOTW armor (which 3 stats are vit/tough power) and I feel comfortable using my Hammer in WvWvW in large groups.
Due to the vit+tough on each piece, I’m able to leap off of keeps, land and knockup everyone (10 point str trait), and then proceed to chain CCs on people.
It WILL keep you alive provided you aren’t being crazy and are using your utilities correctly.

If you want to use a hammer…crafted gear…berserker and knight?
I would personally avoid berserker. It makes you a glass cannon. If you like critting and doing lots of burst,then go for it. But be aware that you’ll get either 4shot or simply outlasted.
Knight is….toughness/power/precision? You trade off vit for precision compared to the set that I use. Crit is..“eh” Precision simply adds crit chance. I only have +precision from my trinkets/rings and my hammer itself. I sit at…35%? crit, so 55% with fury up.
That’s really up to you if you feel you need the crit chance over the health.
Also note, I use Unsuspecting Foe (10 point trait in arms tree) that increases my crit chance by 50% against stunned foes.

The rifle will work with any set,really.

Was wondering how you all felt.
I’m currently working on the Twilight Arbor set of armor to forge my condition set.
There are two sets in the twilight arbor dungeon that draw my eye:

set 1:
Condition Damage
Precision
Toughness

set 2:
Power
Precision
Condition Damage

So the question is, should I mix the sets together or just go pure con/precision/toughness? Mind you I intend to do quite some wvwvw, how do you all feel?
Go pure condition damage, or mix in power? 3 set one/3 set two?
Or just all set one?

This set (condition damage/precision/toughness) exists on the Twilight Arbor exotic set. At least,for heavy armor.

I recently finished my HOTW gear (tough/vit/power) and am currently enjoying playing Dynasty Warriors with my hammer and sword/board.
I must say, it is quite grand to leap off a fortress and proceed to stunlock the living kitten out of everything :>
And then the invisible player bug happened ;x

Playing with the sword though (im mostly using it for the leap, and the immobile(traited) on 3) I was wondering about how everyone else perceives the mainhand sword.

I have a lot of power, so the swings seem to do decent damage. I was looking for another armor set to get, when I landed my eyes on the Twilight Arbor set. It has condition damage/vit/precision, and another set has condition damage/precision/power.

I would probably lean towards the vit/con/precision for increased survival+i think precision would land more sword crits for more bleeds…

But i was wondering how everyone is using their sword. I mostly play WvWvW, and I find a large amount of opportunities to get into 1v1 situations,ect.
Has anyone tried a sword condition oriented warrior?

Hello.
I’ve been running HOTW explorable for the past few days with PUGs,attempting to get the full armor set. One thing that really bothers me, out of all 3 paths, is this guy.

In path 1, there is a mage boss, after the mini-troll boss. He sits on the stairs. In front of him are six glowing ice patches. Above him are balconies.

So my issue is…what are his mechanics?
Sometimes he summons adds.
Sometimes he doesn’t.
Sometimes he summons adds nonstop.

Are you suppose to fight him on the ground? On the stairs? On the balcony above him? Why do the adds spawn? Why do they not spawn? How do you prevent them? Does it involve the ice patches?

I’ve killed this guy a bunch so far, and each time it fills either not working correctly..or missing something.

How are you “suppose” to fight him?

C.Manor dungeon does not offer unique weapon models.

Thought i’d point this out if someone hasn’t already.
C. Manor exotic weapons are not unique skins, and are human cultural weapons and also Ebon Vanguard “cultural” weapons.
It seems as though all the other dungeons offer unique armor+weapon models,however C.Manor only offers unique armor models.

I bought the greatsword for 390 Catacomb tokens. it doesn’t seem to glow or anything at night…or…any time. My graphics are all on high.

Do they no longer glow?

Hello everyone. I just hit level 70 and my Weaponsmithing is currently “stuck” at 295.(I need to go farm more of the “8” monster materials to progress)

However I’m noticing a pretty big problem. When I got to 225, I could finally use all the platinum I mined. The problem is…it’s 4s for 10 primidoium (or whatever its called,i need it to smelt raw platinum into darksteel ingots)..and i’m basically losing money now.

The weapons im able to make vendor for about 1s 20c? And they do not sell on the TP at all..
So i’m losing money to level up the craft even though i’m farming all the materials because of the vendor item.

Do weapon smiths profit anywere? Any tips?

Underwater skills are bugged. They deal 1/3 of the damage they should deal.

I can’t test this right now,but can someone else? I really want to confirm this bug because I feel like i do COMPLETE GARBAGE DAMAGE underwater with both my spear and harpoon gun,both of which are of the current level I am.

Sigh. I’m starting to feel this notion as well. I’m kind of just leveling and avoiding Spvp,because I hope to find more fun in WvWvW at level cap..because i’m basically forced to use 100b if I (manage…after spamming chat..) to get into a tpvp group.
But,the thing is..
Don’t nerf 100b.
Buff everything else to be as viable.
If you nerf 100b,warrior will probably be in trouble.

I REALLY like hammer. A LOT. It’s very fun. I was running a hammer+mace/shield lockdown spec for awhile in spvp. I had a blast.
I can’t use it in tpvp. Players that have gotten used to the game know the hammer animations. Landing a backbreaker feels impossible at this point. it’s to slow and obvious. I can only land it if I cover it with shield stun and start chaining stuns from there..

Another problem is that hammer doesn’t exactly “synergize” with any talents to well.
Obviously there is the Merciless Hammer talent,and Unsuspecting Foe..but other than that,it’s very hard to make hammer builds that “work.” Runes i’m finding are also an issue.

tl;dr 100b is to good and easy to use. Buff other things so they are also good.

Offhand sword-Extremely lackluster and unviable?

Compared to ANYTHING you can have in your offhand,lets take a looksy:

Offhand sword grants you:
1. A ranged bleed that combos into small burst.
2.A single attack parry+cleaving bleed.

Compared to:

Shield:
1.Distance closer+stun
2.5 second immunity

Warhorn:
1.AOE swiftness
2.AOE vigor+weakness

Mace:
1.Cleaving vulnerability
2.Cone knockdown

Axe:
1.Single target burst+fury
2.AOE damage+adren build.

Now, it seems to me, that sword basically fails against anything else you can have in your offhand. Putting anything else in your offhand would give you either more damage, control, or defense.

I’ve been using dual swords for some time leveling in PVE.
The abilities you get from the offhand are just very lackluster compared to anything else.
The block is extremely “meh” (and often the parry cleave that follows will miss if the target is consistantly moving and you don’t “aim” quick enough).
The ranged bleed can be dodged very easily (pvp wise,the animation is very recognizable, like greatsword throw (“blade trail”). Furthermore, it can be difficult to pull off the “Rip” combo in time before “Impale” wears off if your target is consistantly moving and dodging.

The overall thought I have is that…it’s simply not worth it. It does not provide enough damage or control/utility to beat out its contenders.

What do you all think?

Elite skill shout

Well warriors in general, are the class for frontlines. In the heat of the battle, taking the hits.

When I think of an elite shout, I think of something that’s supposed to be inspiring.
The “Face Me” one is a good idea, but it’s too defensive and would only appeal to PvE really.

Why not bring back the warrior ability from GW1 “On Your Knees!”?

Or maybe this;

* “Stand Your Ground!”*
Shout. Inspires allies to stand their ground, demoralizes enemies. Gain Might, Stability, Fury and Regen to allies. Enemies are weakened and slowed.

The buffs to allies and you could last like 20s, the debuffs would be around 7s. Of course tweaking would be necessary but that would be a sick elite skill.

Guardians already have this basically,in shout form,as a nonelite.

Can’t seem to edit my post,but I wanted to add this:

Our downed 3 skill…is it vengence or last stand? The one where we get up for 10 seconds..

It seems extremely buggy, because..
Often when I use it and get a kill,I get a rally. I thought this was intended.
I have NEVER used the trait to make kill=rally..I didn’t even know it existed before today.
So I’ve gotten rallies while being in vengence..is this intended? Is it a small chance without the trait?

Hm,I never got to play with this ability. But the ability seemed very cool? Giving yourself the boons…we need something like that other than signet of rage.
Hopefully this ability gets put back in somehow.

Maybe give us increased damage/ect if we use it when someone is downed?

1.Warbanner Elite skill tooltip displays “Stability, Might,and Fury.” It gives you Swiftness,Might, and Fury.

2.Inspiring Banners trait (Increase banner range, lower cooldowns of banners) does NOT function when underwater. My banner cooldown is 190 underwater, but 92 on land.

3.Banner sprint does NOT work underwater. You will charge to your target,but you will continue to charge into them until the channel is done. You do not attack.

4.Warbanner Elite skill 3 is AoE swiftness. This is useless because being around the banner itself gives swiftness.

I’m assuming none of this was fixed recently:

The tooltip for the greatsword’s burst skill is incorrect. It says it gives you might,but it gives you fury.
The tooltip for the elite banner (warbanner?) is incorrect. It says it gives you stability,fury,and might,but it gives you swiftness,fury and might instead.

What glory rank are people up to?

27@2 hours per day? Do you just spam hotjoin,or do you do tournaments?
I think hotjoin is more glory/hour at the end of the day because of the quick nature.

I would love to see a banner Burst skill as well. Perhaps something like Explosion of Rage from the Gladiator of Aion? Impale them with the banner,lift them into the air,and slam them on the ground. Could be a burst of damage+knockdown skill.
Would be lovely.

…Or something more supporty.

Tournaments are not a fair answer because there is no actual matchmaking;
I duo queue with my friend and we get 3 randoms,and we get put against a full 5guild group premade and get stomped.
This occurs VERY frequently;
The last 7-8 matches were lost on the first round because my friend and I got 3 randoms versus 5full premade.

Will be a Ranking system in sPVP?

I would like actual match making in tournaments.
As it stands, if I queue with my friend, we get 3 pugs..but we are generally up against a 5man premade.
It’s disheartening as you cannot “carry” in this game like you could in others.

My friend really enjoyed a GW1 beastmaster..how “the pets skills were on your bar”..

So I think a Whip would be really cool, esp if when on the ranger, 1-5 changed to abilities based on what your pet is.
Would really make you feel like a pet-based ranger.

Out of curiosity, am I the only person that gets screwed by this ability because it has evade frames?
I play a Warrior,so i imagine it is very much more noticable as melee versus thief.
When you roll,you are invulnerable.
However, when you heartseeker,the thief “blinks” to signify that he/she is evading.
So..you’re invincible to any attacks that hit you during your heartseeker animation.
THIS is what makes this ability really stupid imo.

You are thinking of a totally separate ability.

What ability?
I’m pretty positive I’ve have my attacks ring up as invulnerable while getting heartseeker spamming because my attack landed during his animation.

I’m created this to show a somewhat detailed perspective on the current sPVP reward chests and the system overall. Feel free to add feedback,ect.

I played in every beta weekend and most of the stress tests, so i was able to get a grip on how sPVP gear was awarded before and after the system+mystic forge were implemented.

AS OF SEPTEMBER 11,2012 IT STANDS:
Currently, you are awarded PVP chests by either purchasing them,ranking up, or winning Tournament matches.
As it stands, each rank is divided into an animal based tier. (Rabbit,Deer,Dolyak,ect)
Each “rank” is given 3 sets of gear- low,mid, and high.
Low gear is crafted from Arcane Orbs.
Mid gear is crafted from Arcane Crystals
High gear is crafted from Arcane Slivers.

So, you have 9 tiers; each tier has 3 different models of armor and weapons.
Tournament and Paid Tournament, to our knowledge, are their own “tier” of gear.

There is a topic on Guildwars2guru that is collecting data on what people can craft per rank.

On to the feedback:
As it stands, the system is very reliant on RNG. I cannot dig up the quote,but I recall John Peters stating that when the system was complete(this was during a stress test when we had “half” the pvp craft system), we would have a way to reliably craft the gear we wanted instead of praying we got it in chests.
This would have been fine.
Except at the moment,this is not true because of critical crafting procs.

Critical crafting procs occur at the PVP mystic forge- you “crit” into the next tier.
Example:
Heavy Armor Free Tournament tier is as follows:
Low:Orb:Worn Scale
Mid:Crystal:Pit Fighter t1
High:Sliver:Armageddon

With critting, you can use an orb and get pit fighter, instead of worn scale.
This problem was annoying and presented itself, for a personal example, I wanted a Priory Sword. I used the required materials, but it crit into the next rank, so I got a Vigil sword instead. I got the item I did not intend to get,so my materials are effectively wasted.

Over time in PVP you’re going to get massive duplicates..and therefore probably massive materials. So it generally “shouldnt matter”…but it WILL matter for that moment your craft crits and you get something you do not like.

Furthermore on the materials:
I imagine i’m unlucky, but I’ve yet to see a sliver. I’ve been told you get higher grade materials more as you rank up. I suppose I will see if this is true eventually,however..
Why is there no recipe to take low materials and craft them into high? I have 80-something orbs. It would be nice to use maybe 5 orbs+10dust+consumable token to get 1-2 crystal(s)? Some kind of elevation of materials would be great.

And in closing:
Examining this system:
What is so wrong with letting us buy individual pieces exactly?
I personally believe the RNG of chests may lead to more discomfort..
I understand it makes the PVP a greater time sink and gives longevity..
but why not just allow us to buy individual pieces AS WELL?
Make them very expensive per piece,and maybe lower the costs on chests.
Chests should feel like a really good gamble, not forced.
