Hi Gartz! I appreciate the question, and apologies for not mentioning this in the original post. We don’t have scheduled dungeons or parties, we tend to work things out as people come on. The ‘core’ or officers of FEAR are very PvX oriented (and experienced) playing guild dungeons, tpvp groups, wvw small parties, spvp duels, and random PvE trains.

The things that are scheduled are guild missions and mission makeups, dungeon training, and events hosted by an officer (usually with prizes involved).

When someone is starting a party the guild tends to fill up party spots, and as we go along an grow in activity and size, more parties will be started continuously. But as the name implies from the name, the guild is about the ‘experience’, about the people and about the fun times, to which we try to focus on.

Suggestion: Guild Permissions Change

There are plenty of features that could be added to the guild permissions that would make the job of a guild leader / officer easier..

But PLEASE break up ‘admin lower ranks’. Giving a guild member the ability to promote, demote, kick, and add new members are completely different levels of trust and should not be one option each of those should be separate options. For instance, I don’t believe anyone should be able to demote, or promote that is a more administrative job for the guild leader.. Everyone in my guild should be allowed to invite, but only officers should be able to kick.

Why someone decided to make every other option unambiguous but these key jobs all one option is beyond me, but if anyone could separate it would make managing a guild incredibly easier.

Nerf and Buff Rewards

If you lose, you win nothing.

What will losers get? They will have a decrease in their position on the leaderboards.

Then you can allow a slight buff in rewards to the winners.

Keep the rewards in hotjoins as they are now. This will encourage people to stay in that nesting pod and learn how to win.

The reason why people are coming to SoloQ is because they don’t have a choice, after 2 tracks you’re capped and forced to move to SoloQ.

Actually i think it depends on something.
Not sure if its build or usage or gear, but i been practicing on my Nekro alt with a full well build, that actually destroys any class that depends on boons to stay alive (in short Eles), and seen an Ele (dunno what build…but proly not fresh air) that was like immortal vs me and 2 others….it took us like 6 mins to get him downed….

There are some bunker ele’s out there.. They do little to no damage, but can hold a point. I also have a medium build that can somewhat bunk.. It’s a very versatile class, people judge the class as glass cannon every time, which is the wrong way to think about them.

Also skill has a lot to play with it.. If you’re standing in a well.. as any class really, you should be considering moving out of it..

Notice how at 2 hours 32 and 20 seconds the DD ele is forced to prefent a cap against a mesmer and a thief. 15 seconds later he not only survived but managed to get the mesmer in downed state, in a 1v2. The guys he faced are the current rank 1 and 2 on the teamq leaderboard, so they are top tier.

Notice how he not only has the dmg to kill stuff + is able to survive vs some of the best bursters in the game + add a lot of support with condicleanses and 25 migthstacks on everyone in bigger teamfights.

that alone hasnt give u any doubt that maybe something is wrong with a spec that is surviving and killing ppl undermanned? and esp fast i want notice.

its not OP spec unless its played by OP player. people forgot how to deal w/these eles and will learn again. Most the damage is from might stacks which thief can steal and burst him down, or ele with AT…. even the shatter should remove dat might but if you let him get those stacks up he’s a killing machine.

unviable? it’s very viable i said its not OP as in it doesn’t need a nerf. of course they know how to fight eles but this is a very new meta and so is this build – I mean it’s concept isn’t new but the re-worked skills and heal and celestial ammy and strength runes make this a new build that takes practice to fight no matter who you are.

if anything needs a nerf in that spec its the strength runes.

Eh, its strength runes that are making eles finally viable again.

Conquest is a great team oriented game mode and definitely takes more skill to play effectively as a team than running around in a TDM.

But when that is the ONLY game mode that people know front and back, which has even developed it’s own basic strategy, then the community needs more diversity.

Variety is the spice of life and we’ve been eating our GW2 sirloin steak with only salt for seasoning.

Which is conquest?

No I agree, TDM as team oriented as it could be and needs a LOT of fixing, but is a step in the right direction.

I just hate how everyone is spending all of their free time railing on courtyard, but seldom gives any constructive criticism. A-Net said on their release video that they wanted to see how this style of play would fit in with the game, and they’ll be judging it according to the audiences opinion.. All they will be seeing is that the PvP community hates change, when change is the one and only remedy for PvP (look at the reward system change and how many people that brought)

To use your example: the PvPers ate sirloin every single day for a year.. It doesn’t matter the seasoning, if you’re eating the same thing over and over its going to be bland after a while. We need spaghetti.

The reason that this doesn’t exist in PvP is because it’d completely invalidate certain system in PvE. Completely full inventory? Just take your free port to HotM, deposit your crap, take your free port directly back to where you were in PvE, and continue on your merry way.

Btw, they’ve said basically what I said above before as a reason. I’m not sure if they have changed their mind or rethought their position since then.

Can’t you just port to WvW?

They’re not unkillable, one of the hardest people to kill, but not unkillable.. If you’re having a hard time with a class you should make one and play the build that is killing you.. Then figure out how you can counter it.

the dmg was 8 k i checked had 17k if fully hp but still i can’t outheal that dmg, maybe 2 or 3 times most

I said 6k only because you did, so I was in response to 6k being a lot.. 8k still isn’t a lot.. swap to earth to get protection, dodge, then swap to water to heal.. continuously use skills because you have the signet on..

Taking a lot of damage isn’t exactly new to a caster class..

The discussion is not about whether or not the ele should switch attunements (the answer to that is pretty obvious), but why the ele should attunement dance:

1. Attunement dance for baseline dps
2. Attunement switches to adapt to a new combat situation

The concept of the ele is (2), but currently the ele is busy switching because of (1). The change to the attunement cooldown did nothing to help (2), but pushed the elementalist further to (1).

What the ele really needs are 4 attunement sets that are viable on their own on each weapon combination (with different focus on damage, support, cc, single target/aoe). Then the ele could finally use the attuments strategically and not stance dancing for auto attack dps.

That would just lower the skill cap of the class and simplify it if you had the option to just stick with one attunement. Its not ‘strategic’ to stick with fire and just burst the entire time while in fire, or stick with air and keep them cc’d 90% of the time.. Its strategic to be in air, cc them, then switch to fire to burst them, then earth to mitigate inc damage and water to heal the damage.. I don’t see giving the option for people to stick with 1 attunement is in any way ‘strategic’.

Then the ele could finally use the attuments strategically and not stance dancing for auto attack dps.

You.. shouldn’t be auto attacking.. Unless you’re talking about staff I guess.

yh had no dodge left and i wasn’t on full hp but 6k dmg under 2 sec thats half my hp

6k isn’t much.. a thief could easily do that amount of damage from backstab. Also 2s should be plenty of time for you to swap to water or earth to counter the burst.

Ele’s take a bit more reaction time then other classes, you’re not playing a warrior now.

Cap matches are mindless? and courtyard is not?

Capping matches provide three independent objectives and tactics to hold all three or the majority. It has clear positions and objectives.

Courtyard. In high player numbers becomes spam fest of skills and AoE where the lowest health individual gets targeted by team for annihilation. Only requires a strong stick and move policy to play. It also requires changing of build from other maps where strong solo abilities may/are needed to Team beneficial build that has disposable escapes for when needed. This is currently your number one grief with skyhammer. (That it requires changing of build to play effectively.)

Right.. With zero coordination, and a flood of new players. Courtyard, which is hotjoin, is a spam fest of skills an AoE. If given the opportunity to have some sort of, teamed play with higher skilled players, it would go significantly different. Also, I’m not one of the people that thinks that Courtyard should be mixed deeply with Point Cap, especially in regards to tournaments. Like I said, it needs some balancing, because its not all right yet, but the potential is amazing.

Capping is mindless, to the fact that I’ve done it a million times before. I know the counters, and back capping or simply neutralizing a point from a bunker doesn’t require an excess of brain power. Don’t forget, Annihilation (albeit, not TDM) and GvG was the highest skill cap of GW1, point cap (factions) was concidered a gateway drug to ‘real pvp’.. According to elitists like myself back in the day.

I do apologize, I discounted point cap a bit to harshly. But, I feel like if anyone does anything hundreds and hundreds of times, making the splits correctly is second nature, not at all variable or skill oriented. I see TDM as being a mosh-pit of variability.

You HAVE to use all your attunements, albeit its not as required with staff. If you’re hanging out in 1 attunement you’re face will get rearranged very soon. The attunements what what give versatility to your build, try your best to find a way to utilize everything.

My point is that the attunements should be for versatility in utility – dancing between them, or staying in Fire all the time, shouldn’t be required to sustain even mediocre DPS.

But.. They weren’t designed that way? This is like saying mesmers should have high dps and no clones, because thats how you want them to be. Eles are supposed to swap attunements.. Even on staff, there is just less repercussions for not swapping attunements, but you need to swap to be viable..

Optimal, yes. Not merely viable. The effect of the current implementation is that I feel pressured to swap out of attunements that aren’t Fire as quickly as I can just about anytime I’m playing solo. That isn’t good. Mesmers can do reasonble DPS without clones depending on their build, but even then clones are baked into the class, they don’t add layers of complexity and artificially raise the skill floor to play them.

Dude I’m still trying to figure out what the hell you want. I feel like your objective here is to complain, not criticize the class, which would be an incredible waste of time for everyone. I mainly say this because of your reaction in criticism coming at you from the dude below me.

Viable in any PvP setting.. If you’re a warrior and you only spam 1.. You’re not exactly viable in PvP, same thing with PvP for Ele.. Learn to swap your attunements.

Maybe you’re used to fighting mobs that stand still and attack what’s closest to it.. But I’m used to people attacking me.. If I stay in fire while getting rushed by a thief, how ‘viable’ do you think I would be? How many seconds would I survive? Think I can out dps him? No. An ele that doesn’t know how to swap attunements, count his boons, properly time his earth and air stuns, properly time his water heals and chills, and properly time and aim his spikes is an ele that would survive. An ele that stands there in fire while getting spiked is a dead ele.

Also, try a mesmer. Clones do add complexity and raise the skill requirements, and if you don’t play without them, you’re as dead as an ele that refuses to swap out of his personal sense of honor. (Or whatever thin argument you have)

AI damage is fixed for nearly a week now. Not been logging in much?
And you did follow the recent PvP tournament, right? Most underplayed class? Never contributed to any fight? Mesmers!

For a reason, btw. While we can be really good in anti-highwaymen-warfare in WvW, that’s all we can do in PvP. In Zergs, in highwayman groups, in sPvP, we’re not powerful enough and don’t bring enough to the table to help our team.

I love the leap between not being as used in tournament in legends that much, and not being viable at all in sPvP? What is balanced on a normal level and what is balanced at the highest possible level (the top .001% of players) is two completely different things. Have you played Team Tournament, or SingleQ.. You can’t pretend like mesmer is not used.

I know I know, don’t complain about Mesmers. I’m sorry, but Mesmers need some serious balancing, and HAS needed it since you guys started playing forum warriors when the game first came out. You have two of the best elites in the game (TW, Moa), a crazy amount of teleports and invis, incredibly good damage ability, and an incredibly easy time getting out of combat when in trouble.. You guys deserve a high skill cap, because of your difficulty curve, but my criticism is that it is too higher on a normal player’s level.

Haha.. I love this forum section.. You can talk about ANY other class rather than Mesmer, but the second you mention mesmer everyone FLIPS THE KITTENS OUT. The one class that needs some serious balancing.

Call me crazy.. but a skill that would determine a guarantee win.. should just not happen.. And just because its a long cast doesn’t mean anything.. If my ele meteor shower guaranteed me a win, I’d be the first to say nerf it to death.

You need to be able to be tricked with mesmers.. As much as I would evangelize their overpoweredness, you can’t remove their main class mechanic.

Who needs progression? As ANet turned sPvP into PvE, this is the only real PvP left!
Maybe they will actually introduce ingame rewards for forum posts, so that more players join the forum and we don’t have a minority here.

Then we will finally also receive proper balancing like:
“NERF MESMERS!!!! Clones OP!!! Nobody can’t find the real ones!!!!”

Clones are op though.. O.o, they’re bugged. Or am I missing a joke here.

- Punishment for the leaver.
- The 4 teammates should not be punished if they lose and rewarded extra if they manage to win.
- An option to forfeit the match

Isn’t there a dishonor debuff when you leave?

The downstate adds so much to the PvP, I’m confused on the benefit to removing it? It adds teamwork to res you up, instead of ‘dead is dead’ it adds a last small bit of possibility to still ‘win’, and it guarantees that thieves aren’t the only ones playing in tpvp.. Seriously, if you can 1 shot someone and steal and get out of there with no consequence… why even play another class that requires you to use multiple rotations.

I’m not exactly sure why this is, but I kind of agree with you.. I watch Blu, play all the time, seems like a bad kittens guy.. But, I don’t feel very invested in teams, or individual fights.

Maybe having more windows to show individual fights.. Or just camera work in general.

I don’t like mean people in sPvP who hide behind the anonymity of the internet.

Eh. I like diamond skin d/d, but I’ve been experimenting with s/d which is more midranged. You should check that out. General rules when starting (correct me if I’m wrong guys):

Try to keep arcana at 30 (attunement swapping is the most important part of our class)
Don’t attract the attention of the zerg/group (this goes for any squishy)
Use your positioning to your advantage.
Attunement swap as much as possible for benefits, but not for the sake of the benefits.
Don’t spam skills. You have to actually think of the benefit, make a rotation, but stay versatile.

If you want an easy class, play warrior or ranger. If you want an extremely challenging class play Ele. This class is the furthest to ‘press x to win’, you really gotta put your all in, when you enter a fight.

I have a level 80 mage, and a level 80 beast master ranger. I have played GW2 for a few months now, and I LOVE the game.. with the new PvP rewards, I have begun solo quing but my team is always losing…. I play my mage with phantasms and PU, and I win all my fights but my team still loses… What can I do to make my team win more. I think my record is like 6-51, I just dont know what to do. I am willing to change build or class if that helps!!! Please help me out so my team can start winning!!!

Yep, I have the same answer as everyone else on this thread, friend. Build your build around capping points, defending points and movement.. The game isn’t as simple as ‘kill your enemies, don’t die’, you need points, and you get the most points by having capture points.

Mesmer is a great bunker, in my honest opinion, so try out one of those builds.

still OP is right

  • all this AI on screen is kitten annoying
  • all this AI is toooo much passiv play
  • all this AI make it impossible to react to ANIMATIONS cause no human can watch all this clutter
  • all this AI makes way tooo much DMG (atm even more cause AI buggy) for the owner dont have to press anything for it anymore after he spawned all this crap

In a Game where players have to react to animations is no room for so much AI when wanna be competive

I don’t know man.. I did a dungeon.. I feel that I have an advantage because I can outsmart something that runs at me slowly.. Call me crazy.. But can’t you just kite the mobs and kill the person? No excuse for PU mes.. Those are OP as Kitten.

Also, I’ve never died to a Spirit ranger, since when have they been considered OP or afk classes?

Additional Improvement Requests:

  • More achievement scaling. You guys did great with the rank tiers and magic find.. But adding further would only help give people a sense of accomplishment. Make the rank trains improve as you complete them.. Give a scalable titles for each tier (something you can show off). Simple additions that should add a lot of depth to the train system..
  • sPvP specific gear. I know its taboo to compare to two.. But why is it that you got hundreds of exclusive skins from doing dungeons (previously), but PvP had zero? Add more skins! But make it very difficult to achieve each one! This would add a HUGE incentive to sPvP, and it would finally make sPvPers feel special for once. Seriously, I feel like the red headed step child. Give us some love! Give us some exclusive content!
  • Tournament Announcements. You know that message that pops up to tell everyone about the server resets? Do that for a League Tournament, and make the tournament view a click away. Hell announce the teams while they fight. This would not only introduce PvP to newer players, but it’ll do amazing strides for the community.
  • Guild Halls. I know you guys have your ‘artistic integrity’ and like to keep your game progression running in a certain direction.. But believe me.. Building a strong guild system is IMPERATIVE to people being loyal to your game. And there is nothing better then having your own guild hall. Hands down my favorite memory in GW1 was me (as a guild leader) talking to another guild leader to form an alliance while watching GvG matches.. Every single fan wants this, I promise. Please give it to them.
  • Factions. Like GW1.. That’s more of a preference, but I loved gw1 AB.. I hope it returns? Would be neato. Especially if it’s luxon vs kurzick again. (Although, I think you guys killed off Luxons. Kittens.)

Conclusion. I LOVE THE CHANGES! I mean, it took you guys a horrendous amount of time to actually listen to your PvP players.. But you guys gave an amazing update and I seriously commend you for it. In my opinion, this game is the best MMO out there, and while I can understand why some people dislike it.. Its obvious that with a few steps forward in the right direction, it would be impossible to hate Guild Wars 2.

So in the likely event that the devs don’t answer, what do you guys think? Anything to add, anything to disagree with?
