Zahld, I would expect the same. But, we can’t even get an answer on the Mystic Toilet’s RNG, let alone the Black Lion Chests RNG.

I bought my last Black Lion Chest Keys two sales ago, when they were 25 for 1600 gems. I did get 1 ticket, which was nice for a skin, but also got 3 scraps and a bunch of other items I’ll never use.

I used to buy Keys every month, about $50 worth. But, not much after the new scrap mess. To have to get 10 scraps to make one ticket is like getting garbage as I’m not going to spend 4,800 gems, on a sale, or more just trying to get 10 scraps for a ticket to exchange for a 20-30 gold skin. It just stinks of wanting too much $ from my pocket for little reward.

I agree it’s best to just convert gems to gold and buy off the TP. It’s way cheaper if the items are on the TP.

Personally, I don’t get gems anymore due to not having items I want in the chests. I would spend again for certain new emotes or other things…but the ridiculous skins and boosts they put up don’t do squat to excite me enough to spend 1 cent.

I used to have to buy Chests from the TP to have enough to open with all the keys I used to buy each month. Now I have a stack of 250 Unopened (locked)Chests and another 150+, all from drops. Sad, eh? I suppose Anet isn’t creative enough to make me spend my money….or read what everyone wants…even though it’s posted all over the forums. cough Emotes cough

I got stuck with 168 pvp glory boosters. I wish anet wouldn’t make us throw away all of the stuff we can’t possibly use or just don’t want to use that we either won as a reward or opened from a chest in place of something else we could have gotten that is still worth using.

This isn’t the first time and I’m sure it’s not the last. It’s been about 3 weeks since we were told not to delete our stacks of blade shards and nothing yet. Anet announced a trader merchant for them, but no date, nothing for 1.5 weeks or so now…

I haven’t bought any gems with cash because of this type of thing for a few months now and I used to spend $50-$100/month. My loss = their loss. GG

Don’t worry. It’s normal:

Over 3.3k hours. Over 11k achievement points. 80k kills in wvw. Every living story event meta won. etc.etc.etc.

Not one precursor drop.

I just can’t justify the TP or one legendary that would eat 3.3k hours of gold making. I need a drop..so I’m out of luck.

I had to work too. I see the cheapest dyes are up to 20 silver already…they were only 4 silver before the dye account bound news.

I don’t have the “Gift of Color” either. Unidentified dyes went from 34s to about 60s and are still climbing…OMG! Getting a stack of 250 unidentified dyes now is going to be so ridiculously expensive. Maybe it’s just time to give up and buy that legendary than try to finish it with new expensive items like this. Gift of Color is going to cost my close to 250 gold by the time I get home, lol.

Gotta love the trading news with a 24/7 market for the PST players like me. Only noon here still.

Go kill 50 moas or raptors and look at the amount of slabs of poultry meat you get: 0-3?

Now go kill 50 cows and look at the amount of slabs of red meat you get: 15-30?

This explains to me the reason slabs of poultry are so expensive…the drop rate sucks compared to similar items for other recipes.

No “free” server transfer is going to get you into much more action on the wvw scene. You’ll have to pay gems to get more of that action.

TMI to include anything that doesn’t make a difference to game play. But, if it changes how the game is played, we should know about it. For example, adding a higher ledge to a keep is important to know as we can’t fire over it.

I do agree that all skill and trait changes should be listed for all professions, regardless if devs think they are important or not.

Exploit changes? No. Let the cheaters enjoy finding those as nice easter eggs for the rest of us to read about in map chat, lol.

I tried to buy one for 191 gold, but I kept getting outbid by a few others that kept going 1 copper higher every time I hit refresh so I gave up on that.

I’m guessing it’ll settle around 350-400g and go higher a year from now if they don’t do another “limited release” or include it in any future potential drops from LS bags or whatever.

It’s not as cool as something like the Halloween Shield with all the effects that stand out so I don’t expect it to get into legendary pricing ever.

I’ll enjoy the 10 day break.

As for ESO and other upcoming MMOs: It would have been nice for GW2 to have Feature Only Patches release when ESO and Wildstar come out. It’s kinda expected. To have a 2nd season of boring WvW matches that only the top 3 servers really care about is not the right idea to keep populations up during an ESO launch. Oh well…what’s done is done…enjoy.

Event loot is just bad when there’s such a great reward for only a few and most get junk. I’ve completed 15 hologram kills and best things I’ve gotten were 1 rare worth 31s and an exotic recipe worth 52s. That’s it other than greens.

This is the epic loot we can expect from completing every one of the story metas for the entire living story event, including the finale…greens.

The rewards from this event are not worth it, not in the slightest. This is why I usually help kill the knight and then don’t go in to fight the hologram anymore.

This event might give an rare or a decent recipe once in a while, but the overall loot might be worth 1-2 gold if I’m lucky.

I can get champ loot bags in Frostgorge or do World Event Bosses that give 2 rares each one after another and make 5-6gold in the 40-50 minutes it takes to boringly hit a knight and then hologram.

Overall, I’m not going to keep doing a boring event that gives 1/4 to 1/6 the reward.

So much for the finale epic loot to Living Story. Horrible rewards.

I agree. Please allow a skip after finishing it once. Watching this all the way through each time is a huge snore. Maybe just fast forward to that ending when that girl…..oh yeah…

Same. Ran in a full group, killed all 3 knights…no loot for anyone in the entire zone unless those not answering where all loot winners? doubt it.

Either a bug or Anet stealth nerf. This event is really a disappointment with so many problems. (got stuck in the air against Scarlet and took forever for a mesmer to finally be able to land a portal correctly to get me down) so many bugs/problems.

Strange no updates here. @guildwars2 on twitter is saying they are working on a fix. It’s been an hour now, but they’re working on it. If you want updates, I recommend twitter.

Been playing much lately, seriously? Look around…look at the pick teams…thieves(mass invis, gank), thieves(mass invis, gank), thieves(mass invis, gank), engineer (pull), thieves(mass invis, gank), engineer (pull)…Mesmers galore (stealth, veil, stealth, veil).

WvW feels more like the culling is back again with all the stealthing, invis, veils…pulls, cc’s and stuff being used right now.

It’s not just 4 classes out there everywhere. Maybe you need to get out away from the middle of the zerg?

The Flame and Frost one didn’t turn out that bad…but that last one…wow! Got a little over 1 gold back from a 200 gold purchase? You have to really love red to get that to start with….I mean…200 gold for a red color? Um…yeah.

Not sure what this proves other than what everyone knows. It’s random. Somewhere else somebody bought one dye and got something worth 70 gold or 100 gold or whatever. It’s gambling…the house wins in the end….everytime! Those casinos don’t get that big and expense from them losing. It’s the same thing here. Gamblers lose in the end.

Same problem but got it to stop happening by exiting everything that was running in the background or minimized and starts at computer start up. Something in the update is conflicting with some type of software. It’s not AVG, firewalls or virus scanning…but it might be Steam, Citrix or other various programs. Try exiting them all, checking them to not start on startup (type msconfig in start box and uncheck any that you don’t want to start at startup), reboot and see how it goes.

Sometimes overlay programs can cause problems after game updates as well.

Reinstate the programs one at a time until you find the culprit.

Or, just leave everything else off when you play, like I do now.

Yup. They are there, but they don’t show on them mini map. I’ve seem them all over in pve in level 15-30 areas. There’s a couple in Kessex Hills around the chest and wurm area.

I like that not everyone is just running from one to another on the minimap and/or porting to open them before I get there. But, it sucks that people can still take the presents and leave the toys to run around and have to be killed by others.

They should make it so you have to kill the toys to get the presents!

Please add the ability to finish the 3rd or 4th mini that we need. Last Wintersday exceeded my expectations with the mats for minis emails. This year? Umm…no email present? No more making minis?

I suspect Anet may email us all a piece of coal this Christmas.

Last year they gave everyone an email with enough cogs, glue, stuffing and frames to make 2 forged toys. They later sent another email with enough cogs to finish a 3rd. Many of us still have 200 cogs left when we needed 250 for a 4th toy.

This year? No email? Or is it still possible?

12 months old on my main character too and no gift yet.

Yesterday morning my character said 11 months and others were all getting their gifts. About 3 hours later, 12pm pst (server time for Sanctum of Rall), my character said 12 months old.

I didn’t use a name change, no makeover or hair kit.

My friends are getting a level boost to level 20 for any character and some other cool things. It would be nice if everyone got them within a few hours of each other instead of just seeing all the links in guild chat. /sigh

I just looked up my email and my registration for head start along with my name.number were made on 8/15/12 so I could get into headstart.

Hopefully it’s just anet being slow at handing them out?

It’s probably a good thing that a couple of the catchers are a bit more subdued. I’ve been running the Wind Catcher for the last day, and while it was neat at first, I’m starting to feel a bit visually fatigued.

I’ve found way more luck opening more than a few at a time. Every time I opened 1 to 5, I only get 1,2 or 4 scraps each, usually 1 or 2.

However, when I saved up and opened 44, I got 3 that had 50 each in them. So, I got 150 plus another 41 with other scrap counts and ended up with around 235 scraps just from those 44.

Pro tip: collect bags and open multiple kites at one time. I know Heavy loot bags have a very good rate of kites in them (get most from wvw for me anyway). I think it was medium loot bags that also gave me quite a few. I’m unsure of trinket bags, icy bags, bags of booty, etc).

Results for me: $0 spent in gem store with approximately 100 kits opened so far = 442 fortune scraps so far. 250 scrap prize, 150 scrap prize, 4 extra zephyr boxes = thank you, Anet!

Hope it’s soon cause it’s kicking people out of the game, back to the character selection screen. This is miserable trying to play right now, especially in the new dungeon. A group can’t make it half way without a lot disconnecting out.

I get about 1 gold per CoF run after selling loot and using an Omnomberry Bar. An extra 200% would get me ~24 silver from Slave Driver instead of ~14 silver and ~36 silver form the Effigy instead of ~22 Silver. If I did my math right that is. So, would get about 25 extra silver per run

NOTE: The bonuses in this part are cumulative, so at the Facebook boost, it includes Omnomberries + Gold Find Infusion + Facebook Boost.

Slave Driver drops…
Base: 10s

All subsequent hourly runs (assuming no breaks) will net 26s per hour (2.60s * 10).

Basically, the Facebook Gold Find Boost will only increase your gold output by 100% of the BASE gold you’d get (WITHOUT OMNOMBERRY BARS). This means that it is definitely more efficient, but it’s not going to be superbly game-breaking. The amount of gold that people get from CoF will not be tripled or quadrupled, in fact, it will only be doubled if players take the time to stack EVERY POSSIBLE Gold Find Boost in the game and maintain it when compared to the standard Omnoms + Gold Infusion run (If you don’t run with Gold Infusions, you should look into it. For the price of 20 laurels, you get free gold on every run! While you’re at a Laurel Vendor, check out the Laureate Gold Boosters, they give +30% Gold Find for one hour!)

You forgot to subtract the cost of omnom :P

Lol 10 rares in 3 hours? You get 10 rares in 30-60 minutes of PvE if you do events. Now granted its only once per day, but still. I’ve been up to 20 rares in an hours worth of eventing on good days.

And yes, that is completely kittened up compared to WvW. You should get a guaranteed yellow from the rank chest. The fact that people can get precursors from them boggles my mind, in 60+ ranks I havent even gotten a rare, let alone an exotic. Getting an exotic from opening 100 event chests is about as likely.

I know. I was just trying to make it sound harder I guess. In fairness to my number of 10 rares in 3 hours, I have ridiculously horrible timing even when trying to follow the dragon timer. I’m just not cut out for the PvE thing as I end up waiting on half hour spawn timers for a long time on each boss. Hence my worst case scenario of 10 rares in 3 hours. It is true that you can get many more in much less time, especially if I team up with a group that knows what they are doing. I have been able to get 12 in 1.5 hours, so I’ll update with that?

So, to sum up:

12 rares in 1.5 hours in PvE vs. 5 rares in 60 hours in WvW

kitten , I wish I liked PvE as much as WvW after looking at this again. I just can’t stand around for half an hour waiting for a boss to spawn when I could be helping wipe zergs and conquer towers, keeps or a castle in the same time span. /shrug

I say “Screw Commanders” that act horribly to everyone that doesn’t do every minute detail they demand of every pug. Who cares if they get upset in a chat box. /ignore them.

Good commanders get a good following and players will listen to them without the need for them to act out like that.

However, if all you do is go into WvW to fight the wurm, tree, grub or whatever that is most like PvE without helping your WvW server, shame on you for taking someone’s place.

I know a particular guild that mostly only runs supply from Stonemist and Keeps to walls being trebbed so they can get supply achievements in WvW. They get ripped to nothing in wvw chat, yet they keep on doing it. I dislike these players more than any who decide to take out a wurm, tree or whatever champ.

Overall, get thicker skin and/or use the /ignore command.

In 30 ranks (60 chests) I have received a whopping 5 rares, no exotics and no precursor. I too don’t understand why we can’t get more rares or better in wvw chests. Those 30 ranks took me about 60 hours of play time in WvW. We were told we would get a lot of ecto in wvw by Devon Carter. This simply isn’t true.

If I took the same amount of time in PvE as I’ve put into those 30 ranks in WvW, I could have a ridiculous amount of rares and better. After all, just hopping around world bosses, I can net 10 rares without even doing that much but maybe 3 hours of play time.

So PvE is 3 hours = 10 rares, WvW is 60 hours = 5 rares.

I’d be happy to just get a small percentage closer to PvE rare ability in WvW let alone hope for a precursor.

But, you never know. Precursors happen! /opens chest

OP needs to level up his ability to discuss in a forum without being so defensive. Does OP expect to post a topic and not have it discussed or possible solutions brought up?

Personally, I leveled up my main from about level 30 to 80 in wvw. I had a great time!

The way I enjoyed it and had no complaints from anyone against me was to do things like jump on siege, walk yaks, scout and help out on the back line of a zerg.

If you do go in at a low level, don’t have all your skills, don’t have maxed traits and don’t have great armor, expect to die a lot if you are running with others in open field or against zergs/groups where everyone is maxed on everything. If you get downed a lot, expect some to not be too happy that you keep rallying the enemy and possibly causing your team to lose the fight(s).

Does this mean you can’t run with the zerg? no. Just ask or learn if it is okay to run with certain groups if you are at a particular level. Most groups will let you know and many will say no biggie, jump in.

Extra hint: reset night is never a good time to go in low level.

I’ve been staff ele since pre-release. I love it and don’t see myself changing. I’ve tried d/d, s/d, etc, but I can’t keep away from the diversity allowed with a staff.

I get asked to change over to d/d when running around with havoc sometimes and I just laugh. Remember as a staff ele, you have static to hold, ice to slow, lava font to burn under while also shooting in their face at the same time and a nice reflect and blast in your earth line.

You can also change to the scepter for dragon tooth to help take out those nasty arrow carts in wvw that many can’t touch without siege.

Ele can do a lot of support as my build gives speed when I switch to air, regen when I switch to water, might when I switch to fire and protection when I switch to earth. I give this to the group surrounding me whenever I switch so it’s usually air for speed, speed, speed until you get close, then to earth to reflect shots as you’re probably close to the front line, then fire to might your group and then air to static them in place. Given this is what I usually do when we charge into a zerg.

Keep in mind you have a lot of combos you can help with too. You can blast everyone’s fields with a projectile or a blast finisher. You can blast or projectile finish your own fields:

Need more might? Earth #2 followed with lava font on top
Need more speed? Earth #2 followed by static on top
Need area healing, more healing? Earth #2 followed by Water 3 and water 5 (use 5 first).

Stuck in a lagfest in SM or in a keep and can’t heal? What are you trying to do? Are you auto-attacking with fire and trying to switch to water to cast heals? Wrong:

Auto-attack with water #1: Every attack fires and heals multiple teammates at the same time.

Want to get away from a thief? Start running, boost your speed, throw a static at your feet or right behind you (use look behind key = invaluable) to hold, throw a slow under the thief, boost your speed again, hit reflect to stay out of attacks and keep your speed up, use rock armor to prevent stuns, use the two dodges from your stamina bar and use the backward fire roll to get away too.

I can keep going and going.

There’s a lot you can do in every situation. Play it long enough and it will become second nature for not only your skills but learning to blast and work with others’ skills as you see them go down.

Get in chat! Get in your guild or groups TS, Mumble or whatever. Stick with your group when outnumbered. The amount of help you can do with holds, slows, blast fields and straight up damage is extremely helpful to any group.

I can go on and on and on, but I already did, lol.

My BLTC hasn’t gone down, but it fails to bring up anything on the sell screen every time I list a custom offer and than go to the sell screen. It just brings up a blank screen for me.

Just logging out and back in doesn’t work. Exiting the entire game and restarting is the only way I can get it to work right again.

That sucks. I hate dungeons and jumping puzzles, yet I have to do both in the next event if I want to have a “chance” to earn it.

How do you know how much you need for a lifetime supply? I need more cupcakes that only last 20 minutes each for when I’m not in WvW. How many are in a lifetime? Hmm…

Also, it does look cheaper to buy them outright instead of buying them with taffy? Taffy sells for 7 copper so 5 taffy is 35c. But then we lose, how much of that 35c to the TP?

My suggestion: If you have to spend your gems on gold or rich coffers, go with gold and exchange for regular coffers.

Reasoning: I spent 60 gold for 2,000 gems and got 25 rich coffers. Results: no ticket. I also opened 4,000 regular coffers and finally got a ticket on coffer 3,951.

However: A guild member of mine only opened 7 regular coffers and got a ticket. Of course, she had no idea there were tickets in the coffers when she opened them.
