Not true, If it was purchased from a digital source (won’t provide the name) and it is applied to an existing account, Anet will ban your existing account if it is found to be fraudulent. It has happened many times. This website resells games that were purchased with mostly fraudulent credit cards. If the OP bought the game from an authorized retailer then it could be a payment reversal for some reason. But you are correct only Anet support can assist.

Your problem starts at node 10 by your picture. This is not an Anet issue. You will need to contact your ISP.

You are absolutely right, there are a lot Facebook experts out there that immediately assume that because they ran a speedtest or youtube works fine that it must be an Anet problem. As Slippy said people need to run pingplotter and figure out where the problem is.

And yes I know there are several servers located in NcSofts data center, my point was there is a single connection point from their servers to the internet. The fact that the issue does not affect every single player is a pretty clear indication that it is a problem with the clients routing to the servers. Maybe not their ISP but any of the many nodes points along the way, which are not within Anets realm of control.

Others, for example, me, are having zero problems. You might consider following the directions in https://www.pingplotter.com/fix-your-network if you would like to find out where the problem actually lies, and if anything can be done about it.

You might consider that people play on different servers, in different instances, in differnt game modes, so that fact you are having no problems means kitten all, and their problem may actually lie at Anet’s end.

Sorry, but not the case. It’s all on the same “Game” server. Instances, game modes and home worlds “server” are all run from the same data center either NA or EU. So the fact that some people are having no problems and some are means exactly what SlippyCheeze said, the problem lies in one of the many nodes your connection passes through. If it was a server “NA or EU” problem it would affect every single player.

Do a google search for a program called “Pingplotter”, it’s free and it’s safe, many people use it. Download and run it. There will be a box to input an IP address, you will want to use the IP address of a map that you are in. Type /IP in the game chat window. Pingplotter will use that to test your connection. There are more detailed instruction on the pingplotter website.

Just coming here and posting you have lag or high ping doesn’t help you or anyone else. Run pingplotter using an active map IP as the target and post the results. Pingplotter will show you where the problem is. Running speedtest or comparing it to other games/websites mean nothing. Not all servers are located in the same building/town/city/state or country. Your internet is routed differently to different places and the problem could be anywhere along that route.

If you are looking for specific help or response from Anet you will need to submit a support ticket using the support link at the top of the page.

Your problem has nothing to do with the Anet servers. Your issue seems to start around node 8 “fastwebnet” and get worse from there. Nothing for Anet to fix.

I’m thinking it’s just time to move on to some other game, no point in trying to play if anet isn’t even going to acknowledge that there’s a problem.

Please read the many posts before yours. There is a problem for “some” people and there is nothing for Anet to acknowledge, the problem is with the T3 providers. Anet has nothing to do with them.

To all the people that might say ‘it might not be Anet’s fault, but your ISP":
-most of us are on the same ISP. How come only some of us get these lag spikes and disconnects at one point?
We use TeamSpeak so we know when this happens.

“Fun” fact: I recently did Migraine.
Can’t even count the number of people disconnected in the middle of the mission. Thus…9 freaking hours to get the darn achievement!

You said it yourself. See the bolded text above. If it was Anet everyone would have the problem. Not just your group but everyone connected to the server.

Anet is not responsible for the thousands of nodes that various players pass through across the globe. They are responsible for maintaining their servers.

You do realize that at this level of traffic, Anet has contracts with big ISPs and traffic providers.
They don’t keep their servers on a residential line or the run off the mill fiber optic cable.
Best you do what you said at the end of your post and stop writing stuff you don’t know about.

I was out of this post till the personal attacks started. I do know what I am talking about. Anet does not have contracts with ISP’s and traffic providers they have their provider and that’s it. If I am not mistaken they manage their own connection and servers in-house. Us as players connect to them (Anet), they do not connect to us so they wouldn’t have anything to do with other ISP’s or traffic providers. Almost every if not every player that has taken the time to run ping plotter has shown the problem to be outside of the Anet servers and that is just what it is plain and simple, outside their servers.

Everything in the GEM store rotates around on an unknown schedule. The only items you can count on are the ones associated with recurring festivals, which are typically brought back during those festivals. I am pretty sure the dragon wings are part of the dragon bash which just ended. So my guess would be next January/February.

Pedantic clarification: What just ended was Lunar New Year. Dragon Bash was a different holiday, although the in-game activity of Dragon Ball was the same for each.

Still, various dragon-themed skins (such as backpacks) do sometimes make an appearance during LNY sales.

Another likely time is during the anniversary of GW1 (Apr) or GW2 (Aug/Sep), when ANet offers up nostalgia in the gem shop.

man… i cannot even begin to tell you how much i HATE the HoT maps! the many layers that it has, these so called “biodomes” and the extreme difficulty of the mobs compared to core Tyria maps is just brutally unforgiving.. and INSANE!

i really hope they do not keep this trend for upcoming expacs.. please bring back core Tyria difficulty..

Can’t disagree more, as I suspect many others will. As the game progresses and player skill increases the challenges need to keep up. Core Tyria difficulty is a joke.

The main issue is that new and returning players are jumping right into the HoT maps without being truly familiar with their characters and in some cases not being geared correctly. Metabattle and other build sites are focused on raids, fractals, PvP and WvW not PvE mapping and events. People to adjust their builds to what works for them for the content they are doing.

Another day, raid day, same problem, 1-4k ping, sometimes takes 30s to activate any skill. Going to log off and not play your game. My Tracerts are above if you want to look at them but I can’t reasonably play your game or give you my business so I won’t.

Well good luck then, you even stated in your post above (the one with the tracerts) that the problem is at nodes not controlled by Anet. Anet is not responsible for the thousands of nodes that various players pass through across the globe. They are responsible for maintaining their servers. We as players have to provide our own connection. Your ISP has contracts with every node you pass through, your ISP controls your routing. If you want the problem fixed you need to contact them. The first couple of people you talk to will probably have no idea what you are talking about, you need to get them to keep pushing you up the support staff until you get someone that does. I have had the problem before and did what I needed to do to get it fixed.

There have been several people including myself that have tried to get this concept across to the people having issues. I’m done with this post and going to play some GW2. Best of luck to everyone.

Just curious, do the words BT or Infinity mean anything to the people having an issue with lag/packet loss from 89.149.164.42?

If it does you might want to take a look at this post from another forum. It is directly related to GW2 and problems with that node. This dates back to early 2014.

Same here, even the forums are lagging, everything not involved with ncsoft is fine.

So…what I understood from all these threads (with no dev response whatsoever) is that we’re, basically locked out of the game, and cannot do anything about it, because it’s the fault of someone that our ISP’s are hiring. ISP most likely won’t give a kitten about us not being able to play a video game, not to mention even if they did, the third party probably doesn’t care either.

Take a look at my screenshot and see where the ping goes up from 20ms to 2000ms
It’s not our ISP’s, they have literally nothing to do in this matter (Belgacom is my ISP).

The node at 89.149.164.42 is owned by Tinet Spa a server hosting company. I don’t think Anet has anything to do with them. But what I think is your biggest problem, is the 74% packet loss through your own ISP’s node. You might want to question that with them. This happens a few nodes before the ping spike and may be related.

There is packetloss but the average latency remains low.
As you can see in the following nodes, the latency remains fine untill it reaches the node right infront of NCSoft.

Packetloss is based upon 4 pings, just like a regular “ping 8.8.8.8”
Does it mean there is no stable connection?
No because it is a snapshot of those 4 pings, with an average of 9ms mind you.

Checking at the node right before NCSoft, that’s where the delay happens.. The response to the ping is taking over 2000ms, which has nothing to do to packetloss, because it would be lower then.

This is a different issue NCSoft needs to resolve.

I’ll run PingPlotter again tonight in different map and see what it does.

That node “Tinet Spa” where your problem is might still be outside of their control. I would suggest submitting a support ticket for an individual response to your issue. I don’t think all players on that server pass through that node. If they did then it would be a server wide problem not just some people.

Got the same issues fro about a month.
Checked with pingplotter and saw pocket losses on ncsoft route.Fix this immediately arena.

Your ping spike occurs between nodes 4 & 5 after that it is pretty much stable. The is minimal packet loss near the end. Together they may be causing your issues, I’m not sure on this one.

I wouldn’t say that yet, but it does say “destination unreachable”, appears you might be pinging a closed map. I would re-run using an open map.

Most games have their (EU) servers at the same spot, in Germany.
Certainly NC-Soft.

Yes, /IP in any map you are in. Use that IP as the target in pingplotter.

There already is open world PvP, it’s called WvW. Just head over there are pretend to be white mantle. You can even pick up the white mantle outfit from the gem store and buy some bloodstone weapons off of the TP.

As with every other ping related post, you guys need to run pingplotter and determine where the problem is. I wouldn’t recommend waiting for Anet to fix something that probably isn’t broke. Once you run pingplotter you will more than likely see that the problem is one of the many nodes your connection passes through. If its any of the nodes in-between then there is nothing Anet can do to fix it. The routing of “your” connection to the Anet server is controlled by “your” ISP.

Also, the reason “other” games and stuff works is because those servers are located in different areas and your connection takes a different route.

I guess I really don’t understand your post. You kill them and get a leather item and you salvage it. You can get gear drops from them but the main “farm” part is the imbued leather item you salvage. I don’t think there is an intended source of that item, might be gear, horse hide or loin cloth.

Same problem here from about 3 days before patch.
I’m in Sydney and normally my ping is around 200-250 which is fine, but since a few days before patch my ping has been between 300-1000 just doing normal stuff and trying to do world bosses like Tequatl or Shatterer is impossible as it spikes to just over 4000ping which means my skills don’t respond in time and theres stuff happening around me I can not see. It is definately not an ISP or connection issue as my internet for everything other than Guild Wars is fine and theres too many of us complaining about the same problem for it to be a coincidence

We are trying to alert you guys (ArenaNet) that there’s some connection issue between the player with the server that need to be solve as soon as possible. My point is simple, I will continue support the game provided if i can play or else I will stop and never come back.

I like to do world boss, fractal, raid and event with all my friends (always being carried xD). However, currently what’s left for me to do attempt to complete daily / run around the new map and wait for the game to get disconnected from the server or some random lag.

Again, I would like to emphasize that I do not have connection issue with other online games but GW2 (irony this is the game I like the most).

Did you read any of the reply’s to your original post? Did you run pingplotter and determine where the problem is? Other games and websites are located in different locations which means your connection takes a different route. That’s why other things work fine. As you stated the problem lies between your ISP and Anet, they (Anet) is not responsible for your connection or any of the nodes in between. Your ISP has a contract with all those nodes in the middle, the only way to get it fixed is to have your ISP reroute your connection or have them contact the owner of the node where the problem is.

If I remember correctly all armor and weapons bought with WvW badges can not be salvaged or forged. If you are buying them just for the skins you will have to either use them or destroy them once you unlock the skin. If you put any expensive runes or sigils on them you won’t be able to get them out to use on something else.

That was changed a while ago. WvW gear salvages into badges now.

Good to know thanks, I have been fully geared on all my chars for a while and haven’t bought anything in years. Do you get back runes and sigils with the badges?

Regardless of what your ISP tells you, they control the routing of you connection to where ever and what ever you connect to. Anet pays for a connection to their ISP and that is the end of what they are responsible for.

Regardless of how much you are defending ANET, I can understand what you are saying.

Because I have said it already, I have NO PROBLEMS when it comes to connecting to GW2 after a patch had landed after the whole hoohaa has died down. Usually after 1 week or so.

My case has been like this for the past several patch.
A few days before a patch, connection starts lagging. 1k ping spikes.
On patch day, connection goes to hell. 1k ping spikes to 4k……best was during Lunar New Year patch, I only get some 500 to 1k pings….worst is Halloween. 4k+ pings.
After a few days after the patch landed, connections starts to get better.

Don’t tell me this is my ISP fault. When I can connect to everything on the internet including pron that is blocked in my country because I am using google’s DNS. Only GW2 is having problems. Not in this patch, but the past several patches. Can you explain why everything it happens around patch week? And not every time?
I run Fractals daily. T4. If I have 1k ping everyday, I would get kick every time I enter Fractals.
because of this problem from patches, I usually don’t enter Fractals during patch week. Because it’s pointless. And also I run the LW maps for the achievements.
After a week or so after patch week, my connections go back to normal.
Tell me that is my ISP fault. That it happens EVERY patch since middle of last year……. Come tell me my ISP who is the worst ISP in the world’s fault when it can give me stable connection daily most of time when events in the new living world or festivals have died down. I was happily running Fractals daily a week before this patch landed. The connection issue started about a week ago. I already know a patch is coming soon before the patch announcement. Because it’s the same everytime near a patch. Connection lags.

I am not trying to defend anyone, that’s just how it works. I am just trying to point you and others who are having connection problems in the right direction. When you are having the issues, run pingplotter, this will tell you where the problem is. If you are dead set on this being Anet’s problem then I’m sorry but no one here can help you. You will need to submit a support ticket through the “Support” tab on the top of the page. The are thousands and thousands of players in this game, do you think Anet is responsible for each and every persons connection? They are only responsible for their connection to the internet. If there is something wrong with their connection it would affect every single player not just some.

I can’t believe they would scold you for it, I’ve been playing for 4+ years and never had anything but good or great support.

But, since this problem you are having is not affecting every single player then it would appear to not be a problem with the game servers. They might be directing you to the forums to see if any of us can help. In my opinion “ping plotter” is much easier to diagnose, if you can run that and post the results it may help. Also, make sure you are using an open map IP for the tests.

There is a list of authorized retailers, there are also other sites that I won’t name that sell game keys that were purchased by fraudulent credit cards and such. You bought it from the right place. If you bank reversed the charges or their fraud department flagged it as a questionable purchase then Anet wouldn’t have gotten their money and blocked your game account. There are also other reasons but best bet is to wait for a support response and it also wouldn’t hurt to contact your bank. Your bank will be able to tell you if there was an issue with the payment.

It appears that you packet loss is starting just past your modem. Once you have packet loss it carries to each node you connect to. I would start trying to eliminate it at your ISP, that should also clear it up at each node along the way.

Quick question, what site did you purchase HoT from? Was it one that was listed on the authorized retailer page? Normally an account suspension that quickly after purchase is related to payment problems or from purchasing from a non-authorized website.

Your problem starts @ node 7 which is a tier 3 provider. This provider is contracted by your ISP to provide their routing. The only thing you can do is contact your ISP and provide this information to them.

I’ve had it since day 1 on my primary account and not a single regret. I just recently (month ago) upgraded my alt account to HoT. Most people somehow or another find a way to waste at least 25.00 a month, if you think you might like HoT, I wouldn’t pass up the sale.

lol thought i was the only one. something wrong with our (Malaysia) routing to the servers? i could get connection without DC (although still high ping) with a VPN routed to Canada. but i would like to play without a VPN, as it did not require one before.

used to be able to play without constant Error 7:11:3:191:101 just before the Lunar patch i think, and connection was never as bad as i remembered (played Gw2 since Flame & Frost). am able to play other always online/multiplayer games like Diablo 3 fine though.

Your problems are starting at node 8, you will need to contact you ISP and provide this information to them.

As Inculpatus stated, Anet doesn’t own, operate or control the tier 3 providers that your connection passes through. You ISP has a contract with them to provide service, they (your ISP) is the only one who can help you with it.

More than likely one of the many nodes your connection passes through. You can probably rule out the Anet server’s due to the fact it was not affecting every player. Next time you are having the ping issues run pingplotter using the IP of the map you are in as the target. This will show you where the problem is.

gw2 is dx9 game so it is no allowed to have more than 30 fps in some scenarios.

What??? I have more than 30 FPS everywhere.

Support is pretty good at refunding these types of things. I have been through it a couple of times.

Thanks for the breakdown of my traceroute, I appreciate it.

Unfortunately, I only have one choice for a ISP in my area, so my only choice is to play more on the weekends before prime time hits. It sucks that I cant play with friends, but that’s the way it is.

He is not telling you to change providers, he is recommending that you contact them. Provide the pingplotter data with them and push them to fix the issues.

Certain things about the way this game is managed are unreal. Like not having a public test realm to test patches before live.

One of the major reasons for not having a test server is the economy. This game is supported by the living economy. One problem would be those people playing on the test server would see things that could be used in influence the economy. Another issue would be that everyone and there brother would be sharing information with people not on the test server, youtube and such. This would ruin any mystery /hype that Anet wants to save for the actual release.

As far as I am concerned and would think many others see it the same way. With the sheer size of this game Anet has done a great job with releases. No matter what game you play there will all ways be bug and problems. Anet is just really good at following up with very quick patches/fixes and keeping us playing.

Are we talking lag or ping?

I’m connecting from EU to NA and got terrible pings tonight. Spikes up to 3k, average about 500ms

Meanwhile tier 1 has terrible lags for everyone. How about an infrastructure upgrade, Anet?

It is not terrible lag for everyone. The lag only affects certain people. More then likely it is one of the many nodes you connection passes through on its way to the game server. Run pingplotter and determine where the problem is, this will show you where to start.

While I would always like to pay less for things than I do, I think 700 is reasonable. Think about it.
If you have 15 characters, it more like 15 extra slots.
If you use any of the many unlimited items in the game you only have to buy them once to use them on every character on your account.
