Guess the Huge Feature Update?

Anet called some of their previous releases an expansion’s worth of content, so their idea of a huge feature update might not live up to everyone’s expectations, just saying.

This. There is no reason to expect any great stuff. What they promise and what they deliver…

ESO is far away from being able to compete to GW2. They are doing some things right but so many other things wrong, it is at best on par with gw2, but then there is something called monthly fee that makes it far far under par.

ESO is not even close to GW2. Have you played it? The combat is so bad.

I played two beta weekends and now that the NDA has been lifted I can honestly say….

I had more fun playing over this last beta weekend than I have over the MONTHS that I’ve played this game. Combat was fun to me, and way more action-packed than this game’s combat model.

I, for one, will happily be paying a sub again once this game comes out.

This. I intended to fill a gap with ESO until someone at ArenaNet finally offers new real content. The LS is the most boring addition to an MMO I have seen in 15 years now. But I have to confess, ESO is so much fun, I will completely ignore anything in Tyria until I am done with Tamriel. I doubt that will be this year… Not even a real full expansion of Tyria will change that. Anyone simply bashing it without knowing, should look for himself, as long as the normal “GW2 duty” is not fun. ESO could be a real surprise to some…

I had hoped for… I dont’ know, meaningful content? Something to show, they have learned from the past, they do even care about their game. But we got still the same old generic zerg for achievement stuff, nothing substantial. Two world bosses where you need that many players for the zerg, that the overflow is inevitable, where the MMO feeling is reduced to seeing loads of players, while you spam you (1)(2)(3). Where you have to grind certain bits of collectable RNG trash, to even get a glimpse of the oh so cool story.

Sorry OP, I don’t want to get this offtopic or even closed. I think Vayne gets the idea. I am out.

Stop the Champtrains!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Grileenor.1497

Most high lvl players are NOT doing the QD champ train for gold. The QD champs, with the exception of spider, are EVENTS which provide karma. The champs in Frostgorge, with the exception of quaggon, are NOT events and so only go there if you want gold and not karma.

This. Legendaries suck you out of Karma and if I have to choose between QD or Frostgorge, QD will win anytime because of Karma. And: the monthly grind is done in QD in about no time.

Very good example, Vayne. If have felt just like you for more than a year now. Very good exaple for “hope dies last”. My has died with the last patch. Hopefully yours will survive a little longer

It’s going to be interesting to see how will ESO fare among the competition with its sub-based plan.

It is not the sub, it is the content that will matter. There is more than enough of a market for either subbased and free2play models. The time for…

So, would you pay $10 a month for the game if the Gem Store ceases to exist, no need to buy bag and bank slots, expand this, expand that. Pay for boosters of various kind. Buy unlimited mining picks. What not…
That would probably also include less time gating, maybe a bit higher drop rates… You name it!

In short, you get a full service for $10 a month. I’d say if the game’s good, I’d pay that money.

If they skip the (for me) useless LS and give us real RPG content updates, I would love to sub, yes. I prefer the good old content patches over this new LS stuff anytime and would even pay for it.

New Patch - Expected or Dissapointment??

in The Origins of Madness

Grileenor.1497

we’ve been waiting this long for the coming FOUR patches, this is the FIRST of those FOUR. So yeah, this is the build up, the prelude, the biggest stuff probably won’t happen until the fourth patch.

The so called “build up” we get since release now. It seems these devs only can build up anyway. Seen the interviews with Colin lately? The same. He is telling exactly what he has been months ago. No matter how much time is passing, we always get the same “build up” be it words or patches.

If Living Story were anything more than “zerg down this boss/event” and a laundry list of uninspired and tedious achievements to finish the meta, maybe I’d be interested. Unfortunately, that seems not to be the case. ANet has the tools to make GW2 a great game, but it’s as if they’re too hung up on developing items for the gemstore and creating more world events when we already have so many that they can’t introduce real content.

I agree. It is sad, but true.

CDI- Character Progression-Horizontal

Sociopolitical Diversification: Player housing (Customizable from rewards gained in the open world), Guild Halls (Customizable from mass play rewards) and Map Wide Meta events unlocked through Faction progression (Leading to both individual and group rewards such as titles and skins)

Mass Play rewards. Note, that many guilds are down to sizes, not able to mass actions anymore but they are very comfortable in their group. It would be good, if guild functions would not be limited to 50+ people guilds but offer content even to 5-10 people guilds as well. Lots’n’Lots of guild are of that size now. It might even get some retired players back, if offered content for smaller sized guilds.
If not, make player housing accessable for other people as well, so members of smaller guilds could choose to decorate the house of one player as their guild home.

Role Diversification: ‘Grail Quest’ (Personal rights of passage) style adventures through the open world (testing the player in combat, discovery, and puzzle solving) which others can engage in once the activities are activated which could reward the Hero with New skills/traits, new weapons, access to inaccessible existing weapons, and infusions.

Perhaps offer ‘Grail Quests’ for groups to. Could add to the fun and content of fixed groups or small guilds too. And… anything of adding real ‘quests’ to the game will be welcomed

Good proposal though. If anything of this proposal ever goes live, will we see first results in 2014 or 2015? Do you have any estimates yet?

Something like that was suggested in the first (iirc) CDI. I do kinda wish there was some way of polling people at the end, and not just on the forum (since that is coloured as you guys put it). Then it is kinda the own persons fault they don’t fill it out and give their feedback.

We used in-game polls during the beta events a long time ago. Not sure what it’d take to get them in the live client but it’s worth discussing internally, if only to weigh the pros and cons. I’ll talk with the other leads about it soon. No promises on the outcome, though.

I would go ever farther. Don’t you want to reactivate many of those players who are simply done with GW2, who could never quite enjoy your LW version of MMO development? Do a poll related to the emails, all the players used to log on. Reach all and everyone of them. Ask useful questions, even those question you don’t really want to get answers to, because you are somewhat afraid of them. Polls tend to ask only those questions, the asking faction knows the answers already and looks for reassurance. Don’t do it this way. Do an honest poll between all those people and reach even those who never ever use a forum or social media as well. They are the not so vocal majority and listening to them might earn you results that could surprise you and everyone participating.

Such polls could earn everyone so much. I never understood why only EvE ever did such things.

oops….uh….only 3….darn it….well…..

(1) Weapon Skills – So long as its balanced, being able to choose different skills on our weapons with different effects would be a wonderful way to increase build diversity, and it will also get players out to skill trainers in far flung parts of the world to gain access to these new skills!

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/CDI-Character-Progression-Horizontal/3413290

(2) Lore – Either the one I just Thought of or Louveepine’s Dragon Age Codex Idea, or the few others in the thread , the simple thing to take away from this one is….I want my Lore in the game!!!!

Louveepine’s Codex : https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/CDI-Character-Progression-Horizontal/3419088
Mine : https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/CDI-Character-Progression-Horizontal/3425406

(3) Visual Customization – Half the ideas on this thread involve being able to customize the look of our characters in some way, and Being able to Customize a wide array of Profession abilities and looks through a single new equipment slot is, in my opinion, one of the better ways.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/CDI-Character-Progression-Horizontal/3418505

(Those three easily win out over hard mode, individual guild progression, and faction progression, the other 3 ideas I had in this thread.)

Some important things were said the Living World 2013: The Year in Review blog post, by Colin Johanson.

No. It has been said by Colin…

Colin Johanson: After December 10, there will be just four releases left in the current major world story arc, which we like to think of as season one of the Living World. Our first release in the new year will be on January 21 as we begin our countdown to the end of this story arc. We’ll use the longer break to spend extra time to ensure that our final four releases are as polished and exciting as possible.

When there is a season one, there is a good chance, they will annoy us with a season two. Who promised exactly, a second story arc be without Scarlett?

Second off: It is possible we’re going to see expansion-type content in early 2014. ArenaNet says that after Scarlett’s story arch ends they’re going to release a “features only” patch.

Colin Johanson: Due to the size and scope of the final four story releases in season one, the next round of major features will be bundled together into a large “feature only” release that will come after the first season of the Living World 2014 has finished.

Colin also said we would get new legendary weapons and trinkets in 2013. He offered craftable precursor and hinted at more then mere healing skills. Face it: when Colin Johanson tells you about something, it does not mean, it will happen.

Wait and see, and if something happens, that you like. But don’t take Colins words for anything other than words. There is nothing in this text with the exception of the end of season one and some sort of feature patch. We have been disappointed to often to enjoy such texts.

Hello.

With this year ending in just a few weeks I was wondering what other people think might be in store for GWII in next year.

Personally I believe the following:

Scarlet will die in Feburary.

Who is Scarlet?

She(or us) will have awaken an elder dragon and the Zephyr Sanctum will return to help us kill it.

When the dragon is dead the tengu will decide that they can trust us and join us.

What do you guys think?

Sounds interesting but I doubt it. They will throw more LS and microtransaction stuff at us. They have forgotten about dragons long ago.

I think gw2 xp coming in fall 2014!

I think in fall 2014 this will be too late. The other good games on the road will be out by then and LS will not do the trick by then.

The more interesting question is, do we need 6 vision crystals for a full set or do we get a new component with 200 dust/fragments/ores each? This is, where my hope still exists…

It’s 84g on the Trading Post, why would you spend more gold chasing the ticket scraps?

It’s always 1 ticket during the release patch, then it goes up to 5 tickets.

Easy one, because you hope to get it sooner, cheaper. The whole RNG system for skins is kitten. I don’t even look the skins up anymore, when they are released.

OP, I understand your anger. Just don’t pay for gems anymore. It is the only language they will understand.

Do you spend more on gems than a sub?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Grileenor.1497

Simple question.

Do you spend more in gemstore than you would have done on a monthly subscription? Less? The same?

No. I don’t spend any on gems. The next money I spend for GW2 will be for an expansion.

Yes, I would have paid a monthly subscription as I do for several services to afford this or that I like in my spare time. Nothing wrong with that.

I don’t care for minis, I don’t care for trading NPC items in a game, where you always are a mere loading screen from everything in the game (which I like), I don’t care for all of the buff stuff (with the exception of the birthday buff, which is great), I don’t care for flaming outfits, for anything with RNG. Well I don’t really care for nearly all they offer in their shop with the exception of lasting things like places for chars, bags or bank slots. But than I collected nearly all my money during the first months and paid for gems, when they have been cheap.

I would have paid a sub for the release version of the game and content updates like 2-4 a year of similar quality. For the LS I would not pay a sub. It is not worth paying for.

We Do Not Like Scarlet Briar

Grileenor.1497

I still neither like nor dislike Scarlet. I remain positively uninterested… and that’s actually in many ways worse than either extreme.

I mean, Bobby Stein, guys… I get it. You’re TRYING to get us all wrapped up in the mystery of who this woman is, what her motivations are, why she’s doing this… you want us to wonder “There’s gotta be something more than this random seeming mad woman doing random things. What’s her angle?”

You want us speculating, you want our minds running through theories… in the hope that once the big reveal hits, all the pieces will fall into place and we’ll go, “Wow.”

Unfortunately, it’s not working. Like… at all.

I think this is where the “expansion” route makes more sense. You’re throwing out a single bread crumb every two weeks… and it’s not enough to slake anyone’s hunger. It’s just annoying at this point. Maybe if all this was being dumped on us at once, it’d be more palatable. Maybe.

I’m sorry, but this plan with Scarlet isn’t up to snuff. Wrap it up. Really quickly. Because right now, the problem isn’t the people who hate it. The problem is the people who have stopped caring one way or the other.

Good one. I will ignore all Scarlet stuff now, all so called story in the LS and wait purposely for an expansion. One year of living story has shown, the devs are not up to create storywise compelling content in the living story modell. This Scarlet behind everything stuff only suggest, that the story people of Anet are completely out of ideas, which is sad.

What’re THE 5 things you love most about GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Grileenor.1497

Grileenor.1497

1. The World The graphics, musics and sounds create a superb athmosphere I absolutely love each time I log on. I love games, where you have more options to go to to level than a mere one map per level range. Though I don’t like every map I enjoy the fact, that different twinks can play/enjoy different content to level. There are (actually) five races with five absolutely different capitals. It is a great feeling to go there for a walk, though even I don’t like every city, they are still great and well done. The races don not only look different, the feel different which adds to the total.
2. The don’t fight it paradigma When I want to gather some resources, I do so. No fighting over a node, no race to the last spot on the map. You can just take your time and do so. Fighting and collecting bounty is right the same. Nobody complains, when you help fighting him not matter what. You can’t steal anything, you just play and anger nobody while attacking anything (with very few exceptions, but they are special)
3. The dynamic combat Never ever again will I be able to enjoy fast clicking numbers while my avatar stands rooted in a spot, waiting for the foe to die. Yes many things in GW2s combat system can be tweaked for the better, but the dynamics in really every type of the character classes, the limitless use of all skills while moving just got me. This is fun.
4. The love for details During the first half year of GW2 I encountered on a daily basis things that let me pause and wonder. Really. There are so many little pieces of love of a dev put into the game, stuff, that would never make it in most of the mainstream games, that I enjoy each time I see or hear it. Hidden caves, hidden stories, interesting talk of npcs, the writing on a special gravestone, name it, it is in the game. And today? When I ignore the race for some strange achievement and wander again, I still spot stings, I never encountered before though I played many chars up to lvl 80 and longer. Thank you!
5. The classes I enjoy every eight and can’t wait for new classes. They all play different. In other MMOs many classes are just different colored visions of the same stuff, but in GW2 there are not two classes similar. And you don’t even have to play them like the guy up there, or the girl down there. The options seem limitless, at least the are numerous. They could use some more skills/weapons/traits/features after more than a year now and some promises for this which will be hard to keep in 2013 But still, they are great and fit this beloved world greatly.

I also dislike many things, but that belongs to other threads. Though I am complaining in most of my posts in this forum I still love the game. I only play PvE. I rarely venture into the mists, do a dungeon or two during a month out of fun to play something with guildmates and don’t like fractals due to their RNG nature. I say this to show you that I don’t rush any content, don’t play PvP and I am still around since beta. Still, because of the five points listed. And yes I do play actively with more than 1500 hours up to now

Thank you.

Your top 5 design mistakes in GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Grileenor.1497

Grileenor.1497

First: Congratulation Kimyrielle for your great text. Best stuff I read in this forum ever. I agree!

My five points are:

1. Living Story – A MMO world should be expanded with meaningful lasting content. The name is irritating too, because there is no living and very few story in this updates. Most times the relation of either updates can only be seen by the devs. Worst MMO update system I ever encountered.
2. Shop centric development – There is a reason, why high quality MMOs used to have a fee. Nearly every update of this game has stuff nobody needs to play the game, but is advertized as hell or hidden by the RNG curtain. The worst thing about this is not, that ArenaNet tries to earn their money, the worst thing about is, that you feel, they sacrifice quality for ‘gem-ity’ in every patch.
3. Change of development team What? I explain. As I installed Guild Wars 2, I loved the game with passion. Nearly everything was as expected and it was good to see, feel and play. But nearly everything patched in after release feels so totally different, that I wouldn’t be surprised if the original developers have been long gone. Are you still the same? I doubt it considering the patches since release.
4. Events for Quests Really I like the event system, but I also miss quests dearly. Quest that get you out and traveling half Kryta or Ascalon, visiting this and that to get your story and/or reward. The events don’t connect you to the world like epic quests in other games did manage. Events feel static, feel usable to get some points. That you don’t get interesting rewards for them makes them even less interesting. Quests had some spirit, I dearly miss.
5. GRIND and ZERG-a-holic No grind in guild wars 2? Well some stuff feels less grindy than in other games, right. But the game ist still full of it and the achievement mania every two weeks adds to it. It is grindy by intent of the dev team, so never say no grind again, it would be a massive lie. Zerg by intent has been done as well. Every new content is zerged to death with the exception of Tequatl, which is but one event out of xxxx events in the game. This game is collecting the players in very few places, gives them zerg and grind stuff and the rest of this beautiful world grows less and less visited. It is a shame and it is handmade by the devs.

Nice thread.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Grileenor.1497

The barrier is there (for some people) not because they cannot afford $10 -$15 per month, but because they do not like the idea of renting their games. A guild-mate in a hybrid model game averaged $70 – $80 per month in cash shop expenditures but refused to pay $10 per month for a subscription that would have included much of what he was buying through the cash shop.

Honestly, this does not sound very clever of your guild-mate and shouldn’t by logic be a good argument vs. sub fees. I would not still play GW2 by now, if we would have to pay a fee, right. But I also won’t pay a mere cent to ArenaNet until they offer a sound expansion. I am gladly willing to pay for good content. It is my hobby like sports or other stuff I have to pay monthly fees for.

GW2 does not use the fee model, they sell RNG stuff in a shop for it, where every second person feels betrayed, when he does not get, what he really wants. I prefer a honest fee over that model every day!

I love this game but it is definitely starting to get stale. I for one will definitely check out ESO if there isn’t a major major content add before it comes out. The living story is a lame excuse for content.

So simple, so true. Our whole guild would sign this. Without an expansion to offer some months of content (casually speaking) ESO might do the trick. LS won’t keep us. A fee does not frighten us as well.

Wow… this was probably even worse then the other “LS” things ive done… enter the tower, spend loads of money on repairs because you are to die at least 3-10 times before even getting to the third floor, and then a chest on the top with no fun in it… just random things.

To finish it off… the “story” instance on top was just boring… no conclusion nor cutscenes… just DONE … BAM!

Comeon Anet, you can do better then this!

Actually it is much more, if you care to take some time doing it. Just done BAM will get you nothing, that’s right. But doing the occasional storypocket one the way up, or at least some, will tell you at least something.

Why ArenaNet hinders the player to actually have fun with timegated doors to those pockets, with silly fees to get up again after dying within loads of poisoning attackers is beyond me. They have lost track of the meaning of fun, or so it seems.

Could have been fun, done right. Now it is another grind in a zerg, but story is there, if you look for it.

Insufficient waypoints

Not to mention ludicrous fees for travel. Three silver for second level, and five silver for third? If I were traversing the entire map in one bound then maybe, but this is just one area.

There’s no need for this blatant ripoff especially when there aren’t enough people to help you run places with. And in case you haven’t noticed Anet, the 3rd level isn’t exactly easy.

Actually this is exactly, what makes this tower a one way – get the achievements – never turn back event. Just silly, honestly. There are loads of options to die up in there in the tower. Each death costs you 6s39c ? Well, I go playing elsewhere then.

Why do you limit the fun with such mindless moneysinks? So, let’s see, what the next update might offer. Done with this one.

Looking ahead GW2 in 2013 again

We’re a little over halfway through the year, and we felt it was time to give you an update on where we stand, where we’re going, and discuss in more detail some of the systems you’ll see in the second half of 2013.

This has been said by Colin Johansen in July.

We have one update coming next week (12th), where we will see the tower of the krait and some stuff as posted on the website. We will most definitely see the class balance changes on december the 10th as we can see from all of the discussions.

We have only 2 to 3 Update to go this year. The 26th of november, the 24th of december and perhaps the dec the10th with more than the balance changes. From the promised content for Guild Wars 2 in 2013 we still lack: (quotes from the news)

We’ll begin regularly adding new skills and traits to the game for each profession to expand your characters and builds! You will be able to earn these new traits and skills by unlocking them. To go along with this, we’ll expand the content and options to earn skill points to help encourage players to experience different challenges and content throughout the world. These skills and traits will be designed to be balanced with the existing skills/traits we currently have in the game, and will simply compliment and expand the range of abilities and tactics available to each profession.

I sincerly hope, the one healing skill the last patch offered is not all meant by this.

At 500, crafters will be able to craft ascended weapons and armor. Once you reach 500, a new tier of crafting materials will be available to you; this new tier of materials will be made by combining lower tier materials.

We do know the weapons and I expect the armor to arrive in december. No?

We aren’t quite ready to go into all the details here, but what I can say is you will see a specific way to build precursor items on your way to a legendary.

Colin already said, we will probably not see craftable precursors in 2013. What he did not say was: will all legendarys get this option, or will only new legendarys get them? Weapons at all? Some confirmation would be welcome.

On top of this, you’ll also see new legendary weapons and new types of legendary gear in 2013.

Is this so? Will we see them with the remaining patch options this year?

This is no ranting, no complaining, just remembering. Please give us a new actual teaser what to expect when. We also heard about new weapons, after we get current weapons offered for more classes as they are now. And I think you should know by now, if or when to expect an expansion. 2014?

Bobby Stein wrote:

This didn’t resonate well with some players for a variety of reasons. We’re comparing external feedback with our own, since we have plans for Trahearne and other existing characters in future live updates and expansion content. We won’t spoil what we’re discussing, other than to say we’re looking at many different options for his current implementation and beyond.

I know this is no promise, but as you know hope dies last.

Please give us some new blog or news what and when we can expect the things offered earlier and hinted at during the year. Thank you.

"Finish Them!" in PVE -- no, please?

That is something I also agree with. I think it’s a big waste of time in general; when you add up all that additional time it takes to either stomp or beat down enemies, it’s a lot of time wasted IMO.

Playing a game is a waste of time.

I rather like this because it adds an extra level of tactics required. You can’t just kill, grab loot and be gone. After you get them downed (and they do call in help for reviving!), you have to make a choice. Do I run in and finish it quickly (possible if there are no other foes in sight), or will I stay at range and finish him off with my normal attacks?

Honestly, it adds nothing. It is new in PvE and some are excited to have something new. If you get used to it, you will do things your way like every day and all it keeps adding is more time you need to do the same thing.

Useless additon to the game.

Home instance obelisk disappointment

I always get the feeling, the person at ArenaNet who though up the home instance in the first place, left even before they released the game. Now we have some lorewise silly crystals, a big glob of candy and a shard with some sick radiance looking ugly in some of the instance types anyway.

I vote for some “home instance meta event present eraser”. Perhaps you could offer it in the shop? :p

Finishing NPCs in PVE - Yes please!

After playing it for some days now, I can say: I hate this new feature. It kills the fun out of the PvE fights. Keep this stuff for PvP!

When I kill a mob in PvE I want it to stay dead instantly. It is annoying enough to have all the instant respawns which are still ingame in various places. It is annoying enough to have to fight moas, dear and pigs, while actually doing some LS event not related to them, it is annoying enough to have the LS event put in the middle of some normally already crowded spot anyway. We don’t need further mechanics to be annoyed while playing honestly!

Next Patch Preview confirms Scarlet

Those of you who hate Scarlet, well that’s still a good thing. She’s a villain after all, if you really hate her that much then she’s doing her job.

Wrong. If you say, you hate a well done villain, you are positivly lying because in fact you love the villain the way it is. This is not the case with this one. It’s boring and dull. The people don’t hate scarlet, they hate the fact, she is still there.

Collaborative Development Topic- Living World

in CDI

Grileenor.1497

Copy/Pasted from another thread.

After playing this game for over a year I would like to give an example of what I believe a true living world should be.

First and foremost it NEEDS REAL consequences for failure. If you have centaurs taking over a town when you fail, why must they end there? If given long enough the centaurs can and should take the whole kitten map, enslaving and forcing the npc’s within the areas to be hostile to the PC’s (similar to a flipped keep in WvW). Waypoints, once the map is taken, should all be contested, making the trip to that map impossible save for entering through a nearby map. And why stop there, if the centaurs form an alliance with the dredge they could start controlling even more of the maps. If however they are at odds with the dredge we could form a temporary alliance with one side to defeat the other or at very least see then openly at war with one another.

Large scale invasions like scarlet should be epic in scope (destroying maps/npcs) until rebuilt/defended by the PCs for an extended length of time. Supply runs similar to what we see in Cursed Shore would be a good start, but much more widespread. IF these rebuild actions are not taken by the PCs then they should just lay there rotting (needing more supply runs in the process to repair) until they are done!

I guess my whole point to this post is that without real meaningful consequences we may as well be furniture. Devs please take a page from the way some things in WvW are handled; leaving WvW to the enemies will leave you having to ACTUALLY WORK to regain your ground, and IMO it should be the same in the PvE world. Until it is done in a way that we can and do get hooped for letting things fail, we are no better than bystanders in your game.

Great idea and a good way to implement endgame, if possible. This could even be somehow tied to some LS stuff with a krait campaign, a centaur campaign, some undead lord campaign ect. “Don’t let them take all of kryta or we will get back the monstrous XYZ villain again” sounds like somethin fun to do. Great Idea. The real stories should be tied to real expansions and some sideplots put into real changing parts of the game. You could even make ascalon, kryta, maguuma, shiverpeaks special campaigns so that some parts will always be accessable for new character to progress normally.

That would be true living story which does not feal weird next to some festival stuff like halloween pumpkins next to a new mystic tower of some krait witches.

Dragons should be present in game. They should span across all zones, create zone invasions with dragon’s minions (improve the scarlet invasions idea, but replace everything with dragons, and push it evern further). What I mean:
1. Dragons invasions have permament impact. The are not timed. If dragons minions came to the zone, they are here to stay until they are driven out.
2. This would create real impact on the world. We would achieve both living world (an really living world), and make an honor the basic idea of dragons.
3. In other words make all zones contested and make players fight to keep them.

Good one, could fit to all above nicely. And mix it up with:

… For example, when we finally get to discover the Crystal Desert, let the players actually build the first outpost in that area. There would be escorts of supplies, protecting the build site, maybe a raid on an enemy’s lair to lessen the attacks for a while. The building would only continue if there are enough supplies and the build site and if it isn’t overrun by enemies (enemies could even destroy what we already have built). This would fill a progress bar, which could even take weeks to complete. Sounds familiar? Yeah, that’s right, WvW elements in PvE!
If the real necessary stuff would already been given, the next update could expend on exploring the region, independent of the progress of building the outpost. Perhaps the local inhabitants don’t like us being there and will launch an offensive, making completing the outpost even harder, ‘punishing’ us for not completing the outpost faster.

Replace Crystal Desert with any (possibly) contested zone and you have a truly epic game, where you perhaps 4-6 week long compaign changes where to go and what to do out of the normal PvE. If you have all mechanics in place you only need one team to focus on some change and all other people of the LS teams can work on real expansion stuff, on new dynamic events everywhere in the world, on other cosmetic stuff like Kasmeer Meade fabulous new staff, to buy them of the shop.

That would be a living world.

The same here and yes I got interrupted at least once too. I checked all obelisk shards again. All tell me, I have been there already. And yes even the fourth one in mount maelstrom. I did 10 achievements yesterday before todays patch. 4 in Kessex, 4 in Maelstrom, 1 in Caledon Forest and 1 in Timberline Fall. The rest during the last hours. Can’t finish this one currently.

EDIT:

Rechecked after relogging hours later and I found the last one finally. I am sure to have been there before, but who knows.

Please put it in the game! I don’t care if its a book I have to read in the library in game, it kills the mood to read it on the website plus the glaring white back ground!

This! Story on the website is lost after (if ever) you read it. In the game it becomes a permanent part of the games lore. Only very few players look up the website, all players are ingame and could be linked to the lore. Think about it.

Vote: Do you like ascended skins?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Grileenor.1497

+1 for the weapons, if anything is making me want to level my crafting it’s the staffskin (which will take me ages). When I saw the red ones on dulfys, I thought “oh I’ll wait until I can see the other colors before I decide which one I’m planning to make.” erm…..This is actually the sad thing about them (beside beeing ascended -.-) that the colors are bound to stats.

-1 for the armors – I don’t like them

Same here. For a game centered around looks, this is just bad design. It is way to hard to craft two of them to get look and stats you want. The armors will be ignored, one type of silly grinding is enough for me. I need more story, not more visiting of harvestable nodes (yes I know, armor will not even have them)

Please don't make us craft ascended armor

Grileenor.1497

I know the damage is already done with the ascended crafting materials and raising the crafting level cap, but I feel like ascended armor should be a reward from a questline.
Expand further on the background story of ascension and how it relates to fractals. This is the perfect opportunity to give what most GW1 players want to see, a return of familiar lore and possibly enemies.

Questlines or something equaling that are no part of this game. Sadly. I miss them most. With the single exception of the personal story. ArenaNet said: each of you, play it your style. This style is seriously missing. It would be best to offer both: quest/story-lines to offer ascended equipment or crafting.

Zhaitan would be dead much more often, if the final reward wouldn’t be some worthless piece of junk compared to all the equipment in the game. Sadly again.

Hey, you don’t really think ANet would implement something new without some ridiculous grind?

Is precursor crafting going to happen or not?

You will absolutely see a way to create a precursor available in the future. As detailed in our plans for the second half of the year here:

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/looking-ahead-guild-wars-2-in-2013/

As mentioned at the end of the blog, as always things are subject to change as test and prepare various systems. Most of the stuff covered in the blog you’ve already seen implemented, or steps towards being implemented, however the precursor building (and corresponding additional legendary items) is the one highest at risk to not make it this year.

It is still something we absolutely plan to do!

So I take it, we will only be able to craft precursors for new legendary items? I suspected the system would contain all legendary weapons as well. No?

Again, please answer this one, since it is the very soul of this discussion. Will we get craftable precursors for those legendary weapons already in game? Or will this system only give us choices to craft stuff for additional legendary items? (Not only) for me, this makes a huge difference!
