No pip loss up to legend. People still playing all are legend achevement worth. The play alot and after 6 months og no ballance and stuff.

Then allow pip and tier loss in legendary ranks. And give legendary rank more valmue the higher you go.

It all were you set the skill level base “level” yes it could be in amber, but would go aginst Logic to get more people playing for pve reward.
It could be in legendary rank 1 achivet for playing alot and being commitet to the game. Playing alot ect, not much skill based before legendary rank 2-3-kitten ect call it Pure Legendary or something
Its like skilled people seems to get kitten if to many get higher ranks

1: Is your team clearly superior? You got the eles? the scrappers? They have a warrior? They have been carried by mmr and are now facing the cold reality of a fitting opponent? You got carried by mmr and still are??-If yes: proceed to 2?-If no: proceed to 4
2:Is your team able to work with a thief on it? Do they know how to rotate and when not to rotate? Do they know you dont have to go support the thief if the thief flees from far? Do they know you have to hold out if you want a +1??-If yes: proceed to 3?-If no:proceed to 6
3: You won. Be it you or your team, you did it. No wait. it wasnt your team. Obviously not. Your awesome skills of running around saved the match. You should go to the thief forums and tell everyone their class doesnt suck. Yeah! Thats what you should do.
4:Is your team clearly inferior? You got close and when you prepare to move in for mid they are all dead? A dh sits on far the entire match and they still loose the teamfight??-If yes: proceed to 5?-If no, proceed to 6
5:You lost. Nothing more you can do about it. pretty much yea.. Thief/Warr went underground after HoT. feeling like im forced to play Scrapper/Ele/Reaper tho i enjoy only Thief. anyone feels like that? or should i ask anyone that DOESNT feel like that? it’s quite a pity to just quit/delete your main class and roll some other that you don’t really enjoy. the question is then – should i even bother playing? i mean.. games are all about fun right? playing a class that isn’t fun just makes no sense. playing a class just to be strong doesn’t make sense either. don’t want to rant and QQ but seriously.. devs.. you need to fix this (build options shouldnt be limited to 1 or 2. same goes for classes). and fix it fast. i see more and more people just giving up and leaving to other games just because they are tired of playing 1-2 classes with the same 1-4 builds. gw used to be fun because of build diversity. you could really roll any build/class (b4 2015June-HoT) you’d come up with and still be quite competetive in PvP.. and now? well… yea.. :/ (oh and yes – all of the above somewhat applies to WvW competetive side too)

you should play what you whant to do. what you should NOT do is getting higher ranked with one class and then switch to thief, cause tthat will be really hard and you wont fell the game is ballanced.
Thiefs are ok fun and at even skill level its a ok ballanced class. (if you dont get trapped in some DH traps without endurence and shadowstep)

I whent legend quite easily on my main account + first alt non hot account.

The arrogance i saw from horrible (mainly) ruby players is comical. They all think they are god and they are right. Even if you give them friendly advice the fast majority (90% at least) will reply in a snobbish way as if they are pro level.

Those tend to be the same guys that where spamming about mmr hell in map and teamchat.

Mmr hell or what ever. Will for most people propperly have even out now. Good players blastet there way to legend and now matches Should be more even skill leveled now (until skilled players make alt accounts and create a new slobe)
Problem this season for some was the clearly one side guarenteed to win wich was so clearly at first that it was stupid.
One Can call it what ever, but ending up on the loosing side for 100 of matches until things settled might not be fun for the 5 guys on that side, propperly also not on the other side either.
I would not mind being stück somewere if its skill cap and fights are good. It s more when they are not and all hope is lost before its even startet.

warriors need to hit like a truck in defensive abillities without it getting to insance when they equip berserker gear .

So maybe higher base damage that stacksk less with ferocity . stuff like this would i gladly see on like DH traps also .
Its to rewarding for tank classes to equip glassy gear . instead lower the amount they are giving from ferocity and instead boost the base damage so a warrior in paladins actually can hurt something.

This would be a good way to adjust the power creep also from most classses

Just make the wings reward track a long one. Grinding is a legendary achivement and “we” all need more people playing spvp.
And make tier division drops posible. Let the legend tag mean something. True spvp heros would not need a pve backpack do they?

I don’t complain at the start of a match or decide we are going to lose because of a thief. What bothers me is when you have a thief that keeps dying at mid fights, won’t decap or rotate to help stop decaps, tries to win Skirmisher of the year award while we keep losing home. I wait to see how they perform. 9/10 of them will act indignant when you ask them to do their job. Like I said in a previous post that you glossed over is that it gets really annoying when you have a thief that tries to be a teamfighter at mid or 1v1 for far against a class they have no business fighting instead of doing their job. Like earlier I had one on my team that tried and died 1v1ing a druid at far. The other day I had one that kept rushing from home to mid on legacy and just letting someone run past him to backcap home as I was running past him on a necro to stop it from happening. That complete lack of awareness is annoying and when I said “Theif could you please pay more attention” even using the word please I got a string of insults from said thief for asking him to not let enemies decap us while not doing anything to decap the enemy nodes.

On the other hand I had a thief that was doing stuff like this and I asked him to work on his skills some and instead of being an kitten he whispered and asked me how to improve. I pointed out he needed to stealth up when he wants to decap so he doesn’t just pull enemies with him and die off point and that when he came to +1 a fight he attacked the tempest on point at henge node instead of the necro on the ledge freecasting on us since I (on engi) and someone else (can’t recall what he was on) were trying to hold on to the point at a clutch moment at the end of a close game that could win or lose it for us. He was cool, thanked me for the advice and now when we see each other we are friendly to one another.

So I don’t hate thief, it’s the stubborn players that play it that refuse to change their bad habits or pick a new class that is more suitable. Someone once told me that if I wanted to fight in teamfights to change classes because I wasn’t playing the role correctly plus I’m old now and my reflexes aren’t what they were once so thief is a bad pick for me. Some players who play thief can’t accept that the class is bad for them and continue to insist to play it. Which if they do want to, then fine, do it but please not in ranked.

WHY do you Think its up to you to tell thief players how to play. They dont tell you how to play do they.

Even if classes were more ballanced, i still belive it would still give better matches. THere will always be “meta” most effective allaround build that people most lickly would choose. and the no class stacking would be a easy thing to implement right now, and then ballance of that.

“People play what they like and have a feeling for.” So in other words if 2 people both preferred to play the same profession, and that profession had diversity so they don’t have to be carbon copies of each other, and those professions were fairly balanced against other professions..then what your saying is stacking wouldn’t be an issue. However if 4 people preferred to play the same profession (Let’s face it, we’ve all seen 4 necro teams) But players could see the asinine nature of doing this, and could easily swap to any other profession they have and load a build template quickly, and still be reasonably balanced against other professions, then profession stacking wouldn’t be an issue.
By simply hard coding “There can be only one.” All your doing is increasing que times, having players never get games (Ele/necro/scrapper) because there is no shortage of them with them being over tuned currently.

Ergo..balancing professions to be more in line with other and having greater diversity to each profession is a better long term goal than hard coding a rule that will only slow things down, tick people off and make the game worse overall.

once a time , a while back you to were a new pvp player.

The game might need a better tourturiale for pvp, some questions and test, walk abouts on the map on a live interactive map or something betwen tiers were basic tactics and stuff were informed. We do whant alot more pve players to start play spvp. because its fun and the more that play there more chance is that it will get some attention from devs

I like skills like this, even though I don’t tend to play classes that have them much. The reason is that they tend to add a bit more depth to fighting enemies that have them.

If you anticipate this, you can plan ahead to save either a double dodge or some other defensive cooldown, but if you get sloppy, then it’s really rough.

I feel like skills like this really differentiate mediocre gameplay from good gameplay. In mediocre gameplay, you maybe dodge part of the skill so that it doesn’t kill. In good gameplay, you do something like save a reflect for Rapid Fire or a stealth for UA.

There’s also some really unique ways you can deal with some of these skills to. For instance on a thief vs rev fight, assuming the rev is smart enough to put reveal on you before UA (much less common than you’d expect), you can shadow step to a far location, burn a dodge or two, and then when it finishes, step back to the casting location to get some distance from the rev since they’ll be forced to follow you during UA. This can be helpful to either allow you to have space to recover from any damage taken or simply to put a rev in a bad location.

You say : you do something like save a reflect for Rapid Fire or a stealth for UA.
problem is that if a skill is startet before stealth is activatet then the skill channels and hit even in stealth. This atleast goes for rapid fire. This is one of the biggest issuses to thief gameplay. Cause you use you “class mecanic- stealth” to be skillfull and try avoid damage to get hit by the 1200 rangde true shot that tracks you and hits you in stealth.
its the warriors Endure pain wich the skillfull warrior procs to avoid same true shot, but gets hit cause skill was fired before he activatet endure pain. Ect ect

But there needs to be a way of preventing you from being teamed with certain classes in spvp solo queue.

Lets face it, 90% of thieves are AWFUL. Last match, thief went far in Legacy Map. Died. We wiped at mid because of the 4-3 even with me running in from home. Thief rezzes and dies again at far. Game lost. The thief is even kind enough to dc when the other team reached 400 points. Long enough to assure we have zero chance of it even being close, but not long enough that they get the dc and we still lose pips.

If this happened once, no biggie. But this happens every third match! Beyond frustrating.

I would gladly double my wait time for the queue to NEVER have a pug thief ’on my team" (/sarcasm off) again.

Make a team. problem solved.

I can carry teams to. ( im not in legendary rank, though ive seen some good players there on twitch doing good) i can also be hard countered, and migt need to swap before start, i can also have nothing to do in a matchs if team dont know how to play with thief. I can also be countered hard on random DH traps and lucky trueshots. The list goes on and on. People that play solo que really have to live with other people play sertain classes or go make a team.

Season 3 MMR Reset?

I made it to Diamond Division today, so I manage to cross an extra tier while working on part 4 year of the ascension. My original goal was ruby this season and ruby next season. The only thing I need left to complete part 4 now is 2 Division crossings(To be completed next season) and 10 wins each in two additional professions. My question is probably impossible to answer at this moment because the Devs could make virtually any change for season 3. But for this season they reset everyone’s MMR. I’m curious if our MMR will once again be reset for season 3 or if our current divisions this season will grant us a different MMR for next season(as suggested in several other threads)??
My curiosity comes from the fact that ive only used my guardian to get to ruby last season and diamond this season. I mainly play PVE, but I can hold myself very well in PVP with my Guard. I just cant seem to do very well in any other profession in PVP. I still need to use other professions to finish part 4, but i started this season out using all others and getting massive lose streaks barely making part 2/3 achievement professions. Once I realized I was destroying my MMR I quickly switched to my guard to try and recover which left me in a sort of MMR hell for the last 4 weeks. Regardless I manage to recover with about 65%-75% win/lose ratio(at quick glance)going from ruby to diamond. But before that when my MMR was destroyed with me trying to get profession wins completed, my win ration from Amber to Emerald was 10%-30% in Solo Q. Teaming up and creating my own PVP Guild saved and help me(along with several others) painfully grind our way to ruby. I’m planning on taking a different approach now by playing a little unranked with likely Scrapper/Reaper with meta builds. But im certainly going to be a cause for failure once I get back into ranked. Plus my win/lose ratio will likely drop a bit. Should I be concerned at all about my MMR at this point since Ive met my goals for this season? Should I wait till Season 3 and blast my way to sapphire with my guardian then try the other 2 professions for completion?

Any advice or recommendations would be great.

Just keep in mind my main concerns for writing all this is to Preserve my MMR and to not burden others who are playing their way through Ruby/Diamond by practicing other professions.

You continue to play your guard in ranked. When you see a clearly win you log out to charecter selection, Then choose a class you nede a win with and Then log back in. You get back into the game automatic on new class and wait for the score to hit 500 and get the win on the class you need.

You Should just accept the system is like this and try to focus to have fun in the games . Try do your part and get better. Reaching legendary is a bad goal to have if you continue to get stuck. The goal og gw2 have bin sinde release to have fun. They anounced the game like this. I gave up on focususing to be a certain place. It will come or not. Focusing in doing my Best with what i have and are getting and getting better. This is agin fun to play. I agree getting bad comps and team can be frustrating. Not cause i loose pip( cause its. Second objective after having fun, getting Good matches, and me getting better.

I know there could be builds, setups, tactics one would keep secret. But theese could be alternatet.

Why not play legendary. From what i can se on twitch legendary ques are alot better now.

Making alt accounts make alot of less skilled people stuck with blowout matches and seems kinda counterproductive with the skilled player community whanted to not playing with theese low leveled people. Some will be carried and other will miss tier jumps and maybe get stucked.

I refuse to watch streamers on alt accounts blowing new people up. I would much rater follow and sup elite players playing tuff fights, winning and loosing and hear there indput on tactics , mistakes and what to change, than seeing them blow up mr random clicker in amber or ruby

If you play thief or warrior its defently you. Most likly. If you dont rotate classes after matchup, team comp, its likly you. If you play desent meta build on strong class and play propperly, Then it might be a skill thing. If you Are unlucky and get legendary players on enemy team on alt accounts on importen tier jump and you loose thesse you have just not much to do.
Playing 100 more games Will get you to ruby no matter any of the above.

Post group compositions for defeated matches

It’s my belief that some (not all) of the issues that people are blaming MMR for is actually due to poor group compositions than their MMR scores. You know, like teams with 4 reapers and a Druid while the other team is more balanced with an Ele. While players do have some control over their MMR, they have even more control over the group composition. Yes, there will be those that will not switch to another class but that’s really no different than the player that insists on repeatedly going for lord.

For those of you taking losses after losses, please post screenshots showing the team compositions of both teams for the matches. The hope is to see if there is a pattern in these losses such as if it is poor team compositions.

One suggestion I could make for this, if it turns out to actually be a factor, is to not allow more than two classes onto a team unless they are within a pre-made group. So if two Mesmers are in a pre-made group, they will not be matched to a team that already has a mesmer. If a team will have more than two Mesmers, additional Mesmers must be within that specific pre-made group. This forces better group compositions to a degree without removing the ability to stack certain classes if players feel a need to do so.

why would you even allow 2 players to stack classes on same team.

i hope for 1 class pr team . otherwise you will still be seeing examples of
2xnecro 2xengi
or 2xrex 2xmesmer ect ect .

it should not be difecult to manage the above. they can make visual the most played classes with the most waiting time if needed.

The theory is fine, but in practice it would see queue times go through the roof.

2 class stack max per team would be a viable alternative but even then there is no system in place for stopping players changing class anyway.

No they wont. I cant count the time matches were totally off stacked. 2 gd one team and 2 ranger om the other . 2 mesmer with the gd and 2 ele with the rangers. Wont take much mat to move a little around .

With so much class ballance issuses, classes means alot for fair matches.

What Will win. 3warrior+1thief+1gd
Or engi+2 rev+ele+ necr

I think you’ll have to implent a class maximum in Ranked.

I suggest the 4 minimum different classes per team.
About 20-40% of my losses are due ppl not rerolling or not able to play another class/adjust.

So with that I also suggest to remove the daily class achievement, because I’ve had many in my team and opponents team who never played the class but are “forced” due to achievements.

I think picture below gives you an idea of the problem we suffer at this moment.
This was SoloQ and enemy team had 1 premade with 2, that’s all.

WHY NOT 5 different classes. Ballance would be Much easier also

How is wanting a movement speed buff ‘wanting it all?’ Especially when we’re the only class without a movement speed buff option in our traits at all while everyone else has options for 25%-33% movement speed buffs in their TRAITS (I feel the need to emphasize…I’m not talking about signets, but traits)? DH is not a range class…it comes with a ranged weapon, but that doesn’t mean it’s a ‘ranged class’ as in it primarily deals its damage through ranged attacks. It’s still a melee heavy class as in it deals a huge part of its damage within melee range using melee weapons. But for the sake of argument, let’s say you’re right and it’s a ‘ranged class.’ Why does that mean it doesn’t need a 25% movement speed buff? Did you know that chronos have a 25% movement speed buff AND a Blink even though it’s a ranged class? Did you know druids have a trait for 33% movement speed buff even though it’s ranged class? Did you know eles get a 25% movement speed buff AND a Lightning Flash even though it’s a ranged class? So you see, your argument of saying DH doesn’t need a movement speed buff because it’s ‘ranged’ isn’t really valid.

A leap and a pull don’t really mean anything when people can move faster than you AND have teleports like Blink, Lightning Flash and Shadowstep and can outkite you because you are as slow as a turtle IN COMBAT and can’t disengage because all the other classes are faster than you (keep in mind just how slow you are in combat without a movement speed buff of any kind).

The reason why wars can have speed boost on melee weapon is because their weapon swap is on a FIVE SECOND cooldown, and with Signet of Rage, they have swiftness for almost 30 seconds so even with ranged weapons, they can still move fast. Even if they didn’t have Signet, they’d have their movement speed buff back in 5 seconds, whereas DH has the regular 9-second weapon swap CD. And the difference between war and DH leaps/movement skills is this…DH has two leaps that when used together, helps you travel 1400 total range…the GS 3 leap is on a 15 second CD and the virtue leap 2 is on a 26 sec cd (traited). War has two movement skills on their GS that helps them travel 1650 range, and their skills have a 10 sec CD and a 20 sec CD (untraited). So in one minute, wars can use their movement skills to travel 6300 range whereas DH’s can travel 4000 range. Quite a difference.

As for that pull, the DH pull is on a 34 sec CD (traited) and brings the enemy to you, sure, but it doesn’t help you move faster…so they can still stun break/port away from you and you’re back to square one. So, unless you’re suggesting that DH’s also get a 5-sec weapon swap and a lower cd on their leaps/pull, then I think just a flat, non-conditional 25% movement speed buff as a GM minor trait would suffice.

It is frustrating to get instant killed om thief to DH traps

I would ratherr NOT have theese 100-0 skill with no skill requriment. So lowering dmg modifiers from thrinkets. Ferocity and boost base dmg so the traps Are better in tankier builds. More base dmg budt less modifier bonus from power ferocity critting ect.

Mesmers are still overpowered and broken.

I don’t see anything wrong with staff 5 on Rev, it counters my Necro but it’s useless against my Mes….

It’s a strait line attack, and I get the feeling people don’t like staff 5 Rev because they are playing a class such as necro (flavor of the month META) and not getting the easy IWIN button smashing games they were hoping for.

I have literally seen ZERO revs in my last 20 games, with ruby and sapphire players.

I have however noticed a minimum of 2 reapers, scrappers or eles per game.

I am not the greatest, maybe not even average. This is not a complaint against my teammates. Yesterday I ended on a 8-2 streak. Today I log in and…..How is my total teams ability so far behind the other team?

Again, lower MMR = AFK’s, people not willing to accept constructive criticism or read map chat, people unwilling to change classes to counter opponents, and more people rage quitting.

Once your MMR starts down the spiral, there is no escape.

BTW, I did advance 3 tiers in emerald yesterday ankitten ow Sapph.

Alot of the more skilled people are doing free to play account to not be stuck in long ques at legendary, so you are propperly facing them agin on there new accounts cause they fell so skillfull killing new players. its sad but a reallity for some

I just watched the challenger cup and i would like to say a few things about it because of this thread.

Zero counter play had a DH and he played great and even won some 1 vs 1 vs necro. The classes he could nothing against was scrapper/ele/ and a few times druid. Literally the scrapper from Best Team North Africa 1 vs 2 the Dh and i beleive a ele.

In the EU scene ROM against i believe ASDF played scrapper and won a 1 vs 1 vs a rev and he did it again on druid in temple.

Seriously there is 3 classes that are clearly OP which are rev, scrapper, druid. there is 1 class which is easy to play and in the right hands another OP class in necro. There is 1 class which is a need in ele as a support class.

How does rev need a nerf when its on par with 3 other classes? Seriously just answer the question, if mesmer and DH are slightly underpowered that makes them a slightly weaker option but a option. Warrior and thief atm are dirt but that doesnt mean revs need a nerf.

The OP of this thread keeps talking fact that rev is OP, ummmm against druid/scrapper/necro/ and depending mesmer it isnt. With basic logic if it has the ability to lose vs the 4 other top classes it cant be OP, it just means that the other classes too weak which is only 3.

100-0 thief warrior with sword 2 3+ weapon swap, sigil dmg on swap, legend swap dmg, staff skill 4. All can be achived in 1 sec. Then all the rest rev skills and abillities if the thief or war l2p and doegde omve or twice.

He have a clear statement on how much and how and were his new class rev overpreform compared to say warrior and any other class.

It is also possible that really strong players only just started the season. In fact they are legendary but you just so happen to see them on their way up. Your current level is not necessarily your skill level. Some players won’t even have amber rank but still capable of kicking your kitten .

Strong players just startet there first or second f2p account to play and avoid 1 hour que. Most of the highly skilled twitch streamers are doing this
