Well I’ve done 100, but the incentive to do the torture that is 100cm till completion isn’t there. It simply isn’t fun. It’s hilarious that 100cm is actually harder and more frustrating than ANY of the raid bosses. What happened to the stepping stone? Apart from anything else, the entire fractal takes forever. If this is the way fractals will be going in the future, I’ll avoid them.

We aren’t happy with how the length of Shattered Observatory ended up either. It ended up being out of whack with the standard fractal experience for most players. We are taking a lot of things into consideration for the next fractal.

Including cm durr? because cm isn’t leinghtier than 99cm (at least not by alot). While normal 100 is abit too much of hp sponges. As for the cm you guys follow a rule that fractal cms cant be as hard or harder than raids? Because if thats the case then thats extremely dissapointing.

100cm is longer and tougher than nightmare by a considerable margin. Also what exactly would be the point in making fractals harder than raids? Given the fact that Raids are the flagship, endgame content and top tier fractals are supposed to be a stepping stone towards raids, it is illogical to make them harder. From a logistical and loot reward point of view, it makes no sense whatsoever. Fractals are currently in a good place. All that we really needed was more of them. We don’t need every single new fractal to be a frustrating 5 hour farm just so the top 1% can get a title.

I gotta applaud anyone who can figure out the mechanics in the clusterkitten that is fractal 100. The first fellow’s alright, but the second boss just has way too much going on at once.

Even on normal mode, she’s actually a fair bit harder than many raid encounters.

Viirastra has 2 core mechanics:
1. Stand in the bubble when you have the skull
2. Bounce the marble on your head (only 1 person needed, backup helpful)

If you do these two mechanics correctly, the rest of the fight is pretty easy. Failing these two mechanics quickly snowballs the fight to failure.

There are also two minor mechanics:
1. Don’t stand in the AoEs (You can jump over many of them)
2. Kill the big clones, then drag the little ones to the boss.

Doing these two mechanics reduces the damage pressure to almost nothing.

Theres a bit more to the fight, but this is the core that will allow you to succeed in non CM.

If you are failing the marble, try lower tiers. The marble pattern is significantly easier. Also note that when the marble bounces on your head, it refreshes your SAS. Your SAS is OP and you should use it to move around.

Edit: If your group is learning, try having everyone do the marble at once. There is no time pressure on non CM, and doing the marble gives you lots of aegis and invulnerability so you can stay alive.

Out of curiosity, was is the thought behind the marble mechanic? To me, it didn’t feel an organic part of the fractal itself, more a random mechanic added, because more mechanics were felt to be needed.

I think that is what set this apart for me – the mechanics didn’t gel with what was going on around. Much of the other fractals work a) because they are short bursts and b) because the mechanics are organic to the environment. This felt too random or out of place if that makes sense.

Viirastra is innocent and playful, and literally thinks she is playing a game with the players, so marbles made thematic sense. Plus, the marble mechanic combines perfectly with the SAS skill, which brings the joy of movement in this fight to an entirely new level.

Idk if id describe Viirastra like that in the cm version. Yes the marble feels like im playing a game with her. She throws me the ball and its my job to keep it bouncing and sent it back to her. But shes innocent and she doesnt know that ball is a ball of suffering and death. /shrug

Yes its bugged. tried to help some newbies yesterday and did everything to try and get her to trigger but no dice. We wiped, even got the cave troll to kill her but nothing, so it was a waste of time. The sad part is the devs have acknowledged a lot of the dungeons are so bugged but simply have no time to fix them. If the bugs happen the only thing you can do is restart sadly.

Seriously. it is the no 1 requested feature. With the advent of the next expansion and even more builds and gear, you must do something to help streamline or make it easier for people to switch things over and load/save their builds. Wow, a 12 year old game has had this for YEARS.

It is simply unacceptable for a leading MMO in the contemporary age to not have such a basic and requested feature. Please find a way to make this a reality.

I’ve never been one for fast paced, high octane games. Am I playing an RPG or Dance Mania Turbo Crisis? Theres a reason I don’t play arcade style games, I hate them.

Unless you’re panicking there’s nothing fast pace about this fractal.

It’s all slow highly telegraphed attacks that give you upwards of 3 seconds to react. Given the average reaction time of someone ages 18-25 is .25ms you have 12 times the that frame to work in.

So Avengers CAN still stomp the wrong person, its just way less likely. Thanks to some new tech I could potentially rebuild them… again… so that they DEFINITELY can’t stomp the wrong person.

Low on my priority list but yeah just saying.

Why not just remove this mechanic completely, if you are unable to fix it??
No one was unhappy, when the avengers did not kill at all. And all the new fractals get such AoE overkills, that even normal rezzing or going down gets dangerous enough.

This. It adds nothing but annoyance and is ultimately , completely pointless.

I went through the entire season 3 to do some achievements and it was such a chore to actually stick with it. Please let us skip endless, monotonous npc dialogue. At one point I actually had time to go to the toilet and make a coffee and a sandwhich and two npc’s were STILL yaking!

So as you launch the expansion and move into the 4th season of living story, please give us the option of skipping this borefest. It’s painful enough having to sit through the juvenile writing once, but on achievement runs, it becomes absolutely excruciating.

True but theres is no reason for them to leave it there since the audience they targeted with raids like them and they would like even harder encounters.

Correction. Some of those people would like even harder encounters. Some do not.
Also, the “progression” of difficulty has one flaw you don’t seem to notice. It’s something that would only shrink the community.
Remember, that increasing difficulty will mean, that at every threshold some people would get left behind. When people get left too far behind, they get discouraged and some of them will leave. And with more and more raids (and increased expectations from the raiding groups), less and less new people will be able to join.
That’s a recipe for disaster.

On the other hand, yeah, let’s do that. Make each new raid encounter harder and harder until only few groups on the absolute top will be able to keep up. I’m pretty sure that many of the people i am usually arguing with would come to see my point very fast after ending in “not good enough” group.

All I want is for my healing elementalist to be desireable. Ele’s can do more heals/second than any other class, it’s just not burst and no GotL so no one wants it. I suspect Guardian’s next elite spec will be a healer-oriented specialization (unless they give Minstrel or Bard specs to mesmer’s)

Healing ELE is very desirable and we use them all the time in wing 2 and 4

I am so tired of people who have farmed the raids day and night since their inception, thinking they speak for the entire raiding base. I’m here to tell you that you do not.

Secondly, every single boss in the raids can still wipe people and destroy groups very easily. Even experienced groups have off days. Don’t get to greens in time on VG? Wipe! Unless you have truly excellent heals or the green HAPPENS to be beside a Mesmer for invul. Miss a swipe or dodge on Cairn; get punted off and cause an enormous dps/heals loss. Someone doesn’t do the dispel or claim on overseer; Wipe. Don’t manage to throw a bomb on sabatha or get wacked by the flame wall; wipe. Don’t get to a fountain or drop poison in the wrong place in Sloth or Matt – Wipe. Don’t knock back the human in Sammy – delay = wipe.

Very few people have these raids perfected like some of the commentators here seem to “think” they have. I have over 210 Insights and I’m still finding ways I can do better. I still can get caught out. Heck even ESCORT one shot our very experienced Raid Leader because of a momentary lapse in concentration.

Now we have CM modes and you guys are STILL not happy. Seriously. Not everyone want’s to be crucified for every minute mistake. Do you know what that does? It causes resentment within teams and makes people feel like kitten. People need to remember the content is for 10 people and it relies on everyone to do their job. The people that are clearing this stuff in 5 man groups are people who live and breath raids. Future content should not be designed around these extremes and I am confident ANET will not fall into that trap. GW2 is NOT that kind of game. Stop trying to turn it into Wildstar. If you want the playerbase to dwindle even further, then keep on this very shaky path.

I won’t kick anyone unless the dps is truly a liability or the player is not paying attention to mechanics. While dps meters are useful, unfortunately they have sown how bad so many people are with their dps outputs. People are coming no where near to the numbers that their classes can do. Like I consistently see ele’s that come in 8k. That is not acceptable and means you are getting other players to carry you.

People need to make sure their builds are optimised, have the right gear and food and most importantly know their rotations. If you just want to go in and have fun, that’s fine; but if you want to one shot and move on, people need to work together.

How does LFG actually work?

With the advent of megaserver, one would expect to find the lfg full of people looking to do raids, fractals etc, but more often than not, I am seeing very sparse listings.

Last night, I was trying to assemble a group for wing 3 raid and it took us an hour to get the team together. Surely with the amount of people that play this game, the groups should fill up instantly? It’s also not because of harsh requirements to join either. It was a simple lfg exp with the required classes/roles. So I’m wondering is lfg still server based or do your adverts go out to literally everyone playing online atm?

If they do, then I worry about the playerbase of this game because sheer mathematical probability means our groups should almost be insta filled. It is taking far too long to get people together to do the content.

I know these two classes well.

Power Hammer DH is a thing for raids so you’d be better off with that. Although as of the patch a guild member was telling me that now GS is better than Hammer if you don’t need the protection. Maybe someone can confirm this.

Meteor shower turns eles into a DPS god that no other class could compete with.

It’s a Meteor Shower though!! Giant flaming rocks from the sky SHOULD do huge damage. They control the elements lol! Plus the damage was NOT that strong to compensate for the fact glass cannon eles can be easily one shot. An Ascended zerk set has around 11.5k hp. There was no vitality compensation to make up for the decrease in damage ability. Ele’s have always been risk vs reward. Hence why necros are one of the lower dps classes as they have much more survivability and a huge hp pool.

I personally think the nerf was not warranted and very short sighted. Not to mention there are so many bad eles out there that are no where close to the potential of a full dps rotation. Now they will be even worse.

Necro is the worst class to bring to a raid. Even Revenant is better. Their damage is near the bottom and they offer no utility. The only thing they can do well is clear adds but, there isn’t a single fight where clearing adds is important enough or difficult enough to justify bringing a necro. Every fight that has adds all you do is have the chrono use focus 4 to group them up, and then your eles aoe them down.

Um have you ever done wing 2? Necro is so great there. Epying the adds means that necro will OFTEN be near the top of dps. You realise that epidemic isn’t just about adds right? It’s about EPYING the conditions on trash back to the boss, thus draining him a lot faster. The same goes for all the trash and bosses on trio.Its also great in Matthias for condi removal, its sheer tankiness and the bloodline which can not only heal people but pull them to you to ress easily. It’s also very strong on the escort run with holding wargs and again epidemic.

Necro has a lot of utility. CPC is a very strong skill along with blood is power, which is very useful if condi groups are separated from a PS warrior. Flesh Golem has one of the STRONGEST effects on Breakbars. Excellent for SLoth and the Matthias sacrifice.

In an ideal world, where you have really skilled players and run with a constant 10 man, then yeah I could see your point. But there are simply SO many bad ele’s out there. Necro is more forgiving and it’s sheer health points and shroud give it much better survivability.

I think you are looking at things from a basic dps perspective. On a golem in the aerodrome, no they will never out dps a staff ele. In the real world, they are MUCH more relevant. I will take good necros over rotten eles any day of the week.

But why the Air-Overload?
D/W ele was at one level with thief and condi ranger. (and maybe engi if he is really good)
Now there are better classes in the only thing eles can do in raids.

Ok, you can heal. But then we would need an uniqe group buff or something like this. Otherwise Druids are better.

Overall Ele’s are and have been a bit out of bounds power wise, We’ve been trying to bring them in line. The profession has a huge variance in skill level and applications and they bring a lot to the table in any situation which makes them really hard to make changes to. Overload created an insane amount of damage and a 7% reduction isn’t going to stop that from being played but bring it more in line. As for Meteor Shower when it came to big targets the number of times this would hit was insane so this change helps normalize it so other profession with skills that don’t scale as insanely against large monsters can better compete.

So why no balance to their HP in exchange for the nerf. An ascended zerk ele has around 11k baseline HP. The tradeoff has always been dps vs health.

Was there really any reason to nerf the damage of elementalists without some sort of trade of in hp/vitality. They can easily be one shot, hence the risk and trade off with hp vs dps. Also they control the elements, it makes sense they are the most powerful class.

Also out of a raid situation where rotations do not come into play, their damage is not even that strong. It’s not as if people will suddenly want all thieves or power necros for their groups. Considering the wide and accepted access to dps meters now, it’s quite clear that there are a lot of very poor damage dealing ele’s out there. It seems a curious change.

Actually I have seen it a few times. Moreover, it’s not necessarily a bad thing mainly because if you are relying on one team member to give you that information, you’re really relying on them to tell the truth. Also, pending on which meter you use, the figures can be wildly off. For example, the other night I was raiding on my PS. One guy started complaining that my dps was less than that of the chrono whereas another person disputed it and said I was actually 3rd highest dps in the group.

So sadly if you want the full truth and these meters are going to be used more and more, it is beneficial to use them yourself. You simply cannot rely on other people, especially in a pug, to give you the true data.

While I find dps meters useful, I knew there would be a big downside to using them and this happens in every mmo that allows them. I’m starting to think ANET is better off blanket banning them all.

As far as I remember the old reaper build with epi bounce was about the best dps in game aside from ele on large hitboxes. Definitely not behind guard in any way tho.

I mean I get that they did this right, the absolute army of 20 minions at certain bosses near the end was prob something they wanted to avoid. However a smarter move, to not gut reaper entirely would’ve been a hard cap on minions where the old ones die once new ones spawn after you reached the cap or ofc just plainly lowering the cd on lich form drastically.

That way damage would be fine and one couldn’t absolutely abuse the ability either. But yeah, anet never nerfs small, do they…

No. Epidemic is completely situational. On the Golems DPS test, Guard is waay ahead. Can Necro jump ahead using Epi on things like Sloth and Trio? Momentarily Yes but it’s never constant and sustained as you rely on Adds to make it work. But against single target kills and smaller groups it is one of the lower dps classes. However, I still like the class and won’t kick them from my groups simply because epi is good and necros are also usefull in snaring mobs in Gors and Escort for example. I almost always have a necro holding the last spirit on Gors.

I still don’t really see the need for nerfing the minions. On the rare occasions where you can build up a decent amount, Necro’s are STILL behind several other classes and people still wipe to bosses. We already had a nerfing to RISE. Not sure what the thinking was behind this at all.

Well ironically mesmers will be even MORE in demand because you will now need 2 per raid! Most groups won’t want to give up the quickness. So as someone said, this patch basically made bringing a rev pointless.

I doubt we’ll even bring 1, if one is bad now, why would we bring 2, dps will be too low.

You’re not bringing mes for their personal dps. You’re bringing them for their buffs, alacrity, quickness, boon share and invuls. Hence why they will always be needed. Now that they have been nerfed, the demand and need for those things has not gone away, people will now need TWO mesmers to cover what one used to be able to do.

Not only does this take up a space of another dps, it will also be a pain in lfg to get 2 mes. It’s like back to the old GW1 days – lf monk waits.

. So by nerfing chrono all they did was giving them an extra spot on a raid group.

In the last meta you had more flexibility. You only needed 1 chrono which made room for another support class, the revenant. .

Pretty much this. Now pugs in particular are going to be 5/5 or gtfo. So no room for engies, rev, thieves, guard and in some cases Reapers. Why would you do something that results in half of the games classes being unwanted for flagship content? LOL it’s very very poorly thought through.

Well it’s difficult to imagine what role Mainhand Dagger would cover? Condi’s are already covered more than enough by axe/Torch plus SB. Power covered by Mainhand sword AND GS. Thematically an offhand power based Sword would perhaps be more appropriate.

Personally for me, I think a Rifle would be cool for a “Hunter” style Elite or perhaps a Focus for a shapeshifting Elite Spec. Druids/Rangers have often had the ability to do this in other games.

I’ve been farming TA and HOTW the last few days to finish off the collections for the trinkets. And yes it’s a shame they are abandoned. The issue is not just designing new dungeons but also the armour sets that would go with them and then the tokens would probably be tied into new legendaries. That’s if they followed the vanilla system of course. Either way, it’s been fun blasting through the old content with Elite specs.

But when we get one regurgitated fractal after 3 years (chaos), I’d say new dungeons are next to zero chance of happening.

Yup. They would be insane to exclude basically 4 other classes and making them redundant in raiding, but it’s not looking good. Having said that, if they nerf Necro’s epidemic, then you can add reaper to the scrapheap too. People will just take Burnzerkers again. Will reserve final judgement until patch day.

Is there a reason why Jewelers cannot craft ascended items? Would finally make Gold and Silver actually worth something, plus give players options other than laurels and guild commendation tokens.

Well one is clear btw OP. You do not need to spend 100 hours farming bloodstones for beserker trinkets as that stat can easily be bought with laurels or Guild Commendations. Also I think the fractals venders also offers them for sale.

I still dislike the Sabatha fight intensely. To me it just isn’t fun and I find the throwing the bombs bit really fiddly and unintuitive.

But it is just an aoe? How is that fiddly and unintuitive?

I’m referring to the mechanic where you have to throw a bomb on the platform to port your teammate up. It just feels contrived. It’s probably my least favourite fight out of all 9 fights.

Right, that is just an AoE.

And I find the action key fiddly and unintuitive. Is that ok with you?
