Trinity is better than whatever the hell it is that dungeons have now.

Ok…Why is it better? I can tell you that the thought of having to wait half an hour for a healer for Cof1 and then abandoning the dungeon halfway in leaving us to wait another 30 mins for a healer, or a tank that keeps failing at tanking Alpha in COE; would be beyond frustrating.

They did away with the old mechanics of trinity for a very very good reason. That you prefer the old way of doing things should tell you that GW2 is not the game for you.

Rather than expect Anet to spend time and money developing the game around your personal needs, why not try out SWTOR or a little game called World of Warcraft. One is a sci fi setting, one is a fantasy.

I am sure either of those will be perfectly appropriate for your needs and other people like you.

They removed dedicated healers and tank professions, they renamed those roles to support and control, so the point is that any profession can “heal” (support) or “tank”. So you shouldn’t be waiting 30 minutes for a healer ever as people can switch their builds on the fly. In fact I haven’t played any MMOs where I was waiting 30 minutes for a healer since vanilla wow; they fixed the tank and healer shortage by making other classes effective at tanking and healing in TBC.

Also, this may come as a shock, but you telling people to go play wow or other games will have no effect on whether or not they introduce a need for “tanking” in this game. I know, I know, it’s almost as if they’re not creating this game_ just_ for you, but hey, that’s life.

So basically you’re advocating the current GW2 system right? So why are you crying? This will obviously come as a shock to YOU, but the point went waaay over your head. The poster was advocating the old trinity system from old gen mmos. That is, the Reintroduction of SPECIFIC Healers and tanks, no doubt removing those functions from dps classes. I don’t know when you last played WOW, but judging by your TBC comment it must be 7 years ago! I played CATA and MOP and guess what, there are STILL queues for healers and tanks. Just like there are STILL queues for healers and Tanks in SWTOR. Fixed the healer and Tank shortage? What utter GARBAGE! The old flaws still remain and guess what…people don’t like waiting for very specific roles. We want to get in and PLAY.

They aren’t creating this game for me, they have created this game for themselves and people like me who were incredibly bored and tired of the old outdated trinity system. I know that sucks for you, but hey, that’s life.

Burning SHOULD be powerful. I’m sick of people asking for nerfs all the time because they lack the basic skills at what is a very easy game. You have condition removal in several ways. USE IT!

To be honest, out of all the Elite’s, it is the only class that feels sufficiently different from the base class. Chrono, Tempest, Beserker etc, all feel just like a mild variation of their core classes. Reaper almost feels like a seperate class entirely from base necro and it feels a lot more powerful.

PVE content/dungeons is broken as kitten. Comparing it to other similar MMO reveals that instantly.
This game needs to keep what it has and also evolve beyond that. If that requires that we have a form of holy trinity, what’s to hate?
Besides, changing your build/gear is easy and I hear they plan to add gear sets; so it’ll be even easier.

Stop hating on the holy trinity.
It’s great.

No you get out. The entire appeal of this game is there is no trinity. There are literally dozens of MMO’s that have this backward and dated mechanic if you want it, so YOU go play them and let GW2 continue to modernise and redifine the genre.

Why would u even bother with a regular necro? The GS and reaper shroud just mows down everything….Its fantastic fun and I much prefer it over the revenant which is gimmicky and requires too much micro management.

Especially given the new Raids. i want to be able to make sure I’m bringing decently geared and specced people. If I don’t like the build, I want them out of the group. Same deal if your dps is not cutting it. With raids and legendary rewards, group leaders need to be able to cut the dead wood or weak links.

I hope Anet updates the UI and gives us these much desired and demanded features.

You might as well ask Anet for “IRL people-inspects so that we can read their mind to see how good a player they are”. Because the likelihood of getting either would be the same.

These are the rules for my raid. If you do not meet them, then you can’t join us, sorry. Hopefully you can find another group to carry you.

People will still be required to ping gear and state their builds until Anet gives us a more convenient and needed alternative. The players are crying out for this. My Elite group won’t waste time carrying people who won’t listen or stray from the orders.

Sorry, but you can’t come along until u prove urself. Not wasting time on scrubs and people who stand in aoe.

I doubt a DPS meter would mean much here anyway. If Anet does their job correctly, there will be focus on control over damage for some group members and a need to bring defensive support, not just offensive DPS boosting support.

A DPS meter makes sense in a trinity game where your deeps players have 1 job essentially. Hopefully this new content will require enough variety to make such a tool less than practical.

Well yes hopefully. Having said that, there are some good tools like recount that not only measure dps, but aggro, healing, damage taken, damage done etc etc. I’m sure something quite tailored to GW2 unique combat could be done.

Remember guys, this is the culture that ANet wanted to bring to the game. Until now we were doing perfectly fine without them.

Well I need to eb able to remove you from the group if you are not pulling your weight or holding the rest of us back. These tools would be a welcome and fair addition to the UI.

Staff theif??? Really? Seems a missed opportunity. Thief has no range and only 2 classes use rifle. Why anyone would bother creatign the predator is beyond me seeing as Engies use their kits mostly and rifle warriors are hated more than lb Rangers.

“Elitism” really, REALLY is not the issue in GW2 that some forum members are trying to make out. It simply isn’t. This game is not WOW, where you can’t come unless you have gear score of a certain amount, recount, vent, add ons, knowing every single thing about encounters etc etc. It simply isn’t.

Yes there are speed runners that have certain requirements but they are such a small minority compared to the player base at large. This game is beyond casual; especially for an mmo. You can create a dungeon group and fill it rapidly.

People are trying to create an issue which simply doesn’t exist.

Not only that, they actually REMOVED content lol. They took away that spider path in Ta and they never explained why? Why it wasn’t just made a 4 path dungeon like Arah is a mystery.

Just like they inexplicably removed the beach map from pvp..giving LESS content.

I don’t buy “necros are a selfish class”. Ok, they aren’t Guards, but they can bring mass heals, mass protection, mass condi removal, blind fields, plus they are great vul and weakness stackers.

They are also incredibly tanky. Who is normally ressing your glass ele or mes when they have been ganked by Mai Trin? It’s normally a necro. I would rather bring a decent necro than a sig warrior or a theif who keeps dying, any day of the week.

Gosh, I hope it’s not raids. I am not aware of any game where raiding hasn’t caused endless drama in its community. To be honest, the “challenging group content” announcement is scaring the hell out of me that GW2 might become just yet another endgame focused MMO after all. Dungeons – I am not opposed to getting more of then, but I can’t say I overly like the existing ones. Maybe if they are different enough from the old ones. Less gimmick fights, more fun.

A modern day version of fow or Uw would be good, but that is seperate content from 5 man dunnys

Anet, people like doing the dungeons. But we have had the SAME 8 man dungeons since launch. I cannot think of another mmo that has gone this long without updating their dungeon content. Please create some more in the same vein as the originals. That is, with corresponding armour and weapons.

Yes open world bosses are fun but they are not a substitute for dungeons either.

All I can say is I HONESTLY hope it isn’t jsut more world bosses like Teq or 3 Headed wurm. Because at the end of the day, those things rely on too many people and just become zergfests.

I would liek to see INSTANCED 10 man content liek FOW or UW. it is the major new dynamic that this game lacks. We have bosses, we have 5 man stuff, we do NOT have 10 man “raid” like group content.

Anything other than this will be a disappointment.

Without wanting to sound mean, the system is quite self-explanatory. :<

Well if you had been used to the old system where you could pick from any of the 5 trait lines, there isn’t anything in the new system to tell you that this is now obselete.

All I got when logging in was a short prompt saying your points have been refunded and we’ve configured a similar build to what u had before etc. A short little tutorial would have been a very nice touch instead of leaving you to sort it out yourself. Also the “similar” builds were SOO off it was not funny.

And it’s STILL bewildering that you cannot save off builds with respective armour and weapon choices. WOW has had this feature for years.

Seems amazing that nearly 3 years in this game STILL has no more than the 8 dungeons it launched with. I’m curious, has there been any mention at all of there being new dungeons complete with related armour and weapons for the expansion?

So I have returned to GW2 after being totally burned out with it. After creating 12 level 80’s all maxed out in exotics and very little new content, I felt I had done all there was to do. So with the expansion imminent, I decided to return and see what had changed.

The answer is, very little. However, one of the more obvious changes is the way a player creates their build. First off, I find the tiny icons and inteface much less clearer to read and understand the the previous system. But, am I right in thinking you can now ONLY pick from 3 lines and you have to max them all out? So in effect, you basically have to have 3 grandmaster triats selected? Is this correct? So you now can no longer pick from all lines and have more lower traits selected if you want to and ignore some of the more useless GM’s?

If this is indeed the way, then how does this increase build diversity? Surely it is much more limited?

Why oh WHY are they wasting time rearranging things that no one ever complained about – for the worst I might add – while NOT addressing what people really want?

You are absolutely wrong that noone complained.There is a specific group of people that were not happy about the old achievement daily and that were the AP hunters.They considered it to be hell of a farm.Before they had to do 10/10 for full reward.Now it has to be done only 3 dailies for full 10 AP reward.So Anet actually did something right.

So they aren’t going to complain about now having to do a specific world boss or fractals instead of the old system which you could do without even trying??? Rightttt…..

What if, WHAT IF??? What if everything is actually going well at ANet, and you all who come on here day after day to sound the alarm of imminent DOOM are totally mistaken, and too arrogant to see how wrong you are?

What if the reason ANet is ignoring you is because they have a bigger picture than you do, and they can see that everything is fine, and that doing what you suggest would not be the best course of action?

I just do not understand for the life of me why they refuse to give the playerbase at large what it wants. It is simple, basic stuff….They are screwing around with things here and there while the big picture is lost. At the end of the day, I got my money out of this game. I just think it’s a crying shame, a game with SO much potential is a shadow of what could have been

The majority of a game’s playersbase is very rarely the ones writing on a forum, it’s USUALLY a minority of the players who do this. Then there’s the problem that if people are content they produce a smaller amount of posts (there is nothing to complain about so it get’s meaningless to just make posts that praise and are happy).
So I hardly believe that you who complain are in majority

Well..I’m not just going by me….I’m going by mapchat and guild chats…friends, players…people who love the game and like..wtf are they doing?

Why are you spending time on this stuff yet neglecting dungeons, new pvp maps and MODES, new weapon types and classes…STUFF that the overwhelming majority of people want. I don’t want anymore trash loot and currencies that I have to constantly click on which is all this new daily thing did. And 3/4 chocies for pve are you for real. Today for example..one of them was a fractal and the other was 4 events in silverwastes. So if you are either A a new character or B someone who hate spvp/wvw ..no daily for you.

I cannot fathom how they thought this was good…Just the same as sending everyone all over the map for kittenty tier one traits.

I have been playing dragon age 3 for the last 2 weeks and this is what I come back too?

All I will say is keep going Anet, you are digging your own grave.

This is, imo, very close to the ideal wallet. I would pay for this. In cupcakes.

Pros: clears up inventory, logically ordered, can be expanded on with minimal fuss in future

Cons: see what you have at a glance functionality is gone, some scrolling required

For me the pros outweigh the cons easily.

The original user added the “at a glance” functionality, I added collapsable categories and a “watch list” at the top

New Labryinth area ? This was my first thought when completeing that area. Why not make use of it with a new dungeon based on it with those bosses? Rewards could be bandit tokens allowing players other ways of obtaining them without farming SW or doing PVP.

It’s sad that the dungeon community is continually left to rot. I cannot think of another mmo in my lifetime that has abandoned their Dungeons in the manner that Anet has

I kinda enjoyed going on the hunt for all the different items for making this and the fact that I visited places that I wouldn’t normally like the underwater area in Diessu Plateau etc. Also, given that he has a use and gives out loot, it was a cute addition to the game. The materials to make him didn’t seem outrageous and there was a sense of satisfaction on completion.

More stuff like this please…maybe even…dare I say..a precursor type of hunt thing?

Or to be hoenst, make up any old crap…I mean how different is a death knight in wow from Warrior…its another take on melee.

The chronomancer idea was good..But it seems pretty clear that a new class would be heavy and have some sort of casting ability. A modernised version of the ritualist or some kind of Shaman would fill that role.
