I know where we’re going, and I advise you to go ahead and fasten your seat belt.

This was said literally all last year after season 1 ended. Trust me… could have left my seat belt off for the past year. Why should anyone believe this hype now?

Anet is riding a fine line having the game be supported by whales (not an insult, whales as in people who spend big on the game). Slowly these people will leave without significant evolution of the game and LS hardly evolves the world in a meaningful way.

People really think they are logging of to save their server the SINGLE point in a 150k+ match. No, more likely they are just typical rage quitters.

Well at least mine have some things to support the argument than just state opinions:) You can argue whether the evidence fully supports my argument, but it is better than nothing….

And I do consider the ability to get 700 people to join your community TS for WvW as a sign of good organization, you disagree?

Considering only 90~ max per BL that puts you guys with 300+~ sitting in queues.

From what I heard the queue time on reset night does not seem to be too different among t1 servers, on bg it’s usually about 2 hours for reset night, is it similar to jq/sor?

If anything the number just allow us to truly understand the wvw population size on all t1 servers. Bg is just able to measure it more accurately because we get a higher percentage into ts.

The WvW population size can only be measured if Anet released the numbers. The amount in TS isn’t directly proportional to people on the map due to a variety of factors. Yes TS is helpful but it doesn’t show you a comparision of numbers. Just because a server doesn’t have as many in TS doesn’t mean their population is lower.

I am not sure you understand my argument, let me retry. There are two potential explanations for the 700+ people on BG TS:

1. BG has more people trying to do WvW than the other two T1 servers at reset night.

2. The number of people trying to do WvW on reset is similar among three servers but BG manages to get a higher percentage of them on TS, which i believe is a sign of good organization.

Now we cannot measure the number trying to do WvW on reset night directly, but we can use queue time as a pretty good proxy. The queue time on BG for reset night is about 2 hours, which I heard is similar to JQ/SOR. This indicates that we have similar level of people trying WvW, which refute explanation 1 and support explanation 2, thus support my argument that BG has good organization.

OR the other servers dont have random people Akitteng or guilds in their own channels in a TS while they wait to get in… again it doesnt show anything other then you were able to herd 700 people into a single place with no gain. Now if somehow you could say we had full boarderlands with no pugs and no solo roamers and all were on TS for all maps thats different, but just saying “700 on TS at once” proves absolutely nothing.

He’s right honestly. Even if there are things you HATE about this game, and you want it to get better because youre a fan, theres just better ways to say things XIV on and off lately and that game honestly sucks, but the community is SOOO supportive of the game its amazing. SQENIX has been horrrrible to their fans for almost a decade and people still support them. ANET tries really hard to make a lot of fans happy, in a game thats three pronged. just be respectful and remember that this is a work in progress. Things game time and this is a great game whether things about it kitten you off or not.

A video game should not be a work in progress the same way your car shouldnt be a work in progress once its released… In an ideal world the game would have had the foundation for their 2 week release cycles prior to release and the game would have included all the basic features it needed (like leaderboards and custom servers for PvP) right from the start. When you release a half developed game as one of the most anticipated games your gonna have a bad time. Shame on us for expecting a AAA title to actually be AAA in quality.

A driving game shouldn’t be a work in progress. Every MMO ever made is a work in progress…not just at release but through the entire life cycle of the game, as long as it’s viable.

When you buy a driving game, you’re buying a game. When you’re buying an MMO you’re buying access to a world…you’re not paying for the program you’re paying for the account. It’s a completely different thing.

There isn’t one MMO I’ve ever seen, AAA or otherwise, that released as a finished product.

There is a HUGE difference between a game expanding and evolving and a game being a work in progress. GW1 for example expanded its world with updates like Sorrows Embrace and War in Kryta in addition to adding 2 stand alone campaigns and an expansion.

That is far different then releasing a game, changing how you want to release content after release and then doing work to convert the game to a new model in order to meet your new requirements… all while players are trying to play it.

First case is your expansion of a world, second case is poor planning and releasing a game thats not complete. Guess which one we got.

The only credit I’ll give you is that Guild Wars 1 was a pretty tidy, but restrictive in game in concept. You HAD to group to be effective mechanically, 8 skills, etc. Expansions (until Nightfall) didn’t add much, just new skills, and new story, which weren’t their prime focus anyway (nonetheless interesting).

And really, what changed in how Anet decided to update content, for Guild Wars 2? GW2 isn’t a skill-focused game as GW1 was, so you don’t see as many skill updates (wish I did, though). They also mentioned years ago that they did not want to do the same expansion system to provide large-scale updates. They want more story, and have an engine that lets them try new things. Though I won’t totally dismiss you; I think what you’re looking for, as well as myself and many others is a larger-scale update, both story and skill mechanics, than the type we’re getting, or ever got before. I’m happy that work continues on the game, but there is a ton of potential to tap.

Im not saying Im looking for anything. I am saying literally that system you said GW2 was designed on was rewritten after the game was released. They even wrote about it – transitioning from monthly time frame updates to their 2 week system which included backend changes to allow it a full organization shift to those smaller teams. If you need to change THAT much then you released your game incomplete.

Look at PvP for another example – they had to fully remove their tournament system and repurpose it to a single round system. They had to ADD leaderboards and custom arenas and observer mode because they were not complete for release. Why… because the game was released incomplete.

So again, Im not questioning why GW2 was made and the philosophies behind it. I am proving to you that this game was released and required substantial changes to it AFTER release because it wasnt done correctly – yet was still given to the customer in that state.

Typical Mr Johanson, or as I like to call him, ‘the seagull’…

  • flies off again

I’m sure we can appreciate the dev’s have a tough job to do, but really? Prioritising the most wanted item in the game shouldn’t be THAT tough. >_<

There is word for doing the above too…..(starts with an A and the last part is an empty space and that generates an unpleasant, acrid odor).

  • Make an insulting personal attack in public
  • Add a comment to mitigate the circumstances that led to the attack
  • Add the reason why the personal attack was justified

He was simply doing EXACTLY what the community wanted….to confirm that this is still planned and YOU came in here and crapped on him for doing his job.

While I can agree with you that his post was insulting, he is not doing EXACTLY what the community wanted. The community wanted the promises of content features to be met and he came here to do the opposite, tell us that they probably arent going to be met.

See, the problem is that you have different people with different and often contradicting opinions. Meeting the demands of one person may in fact upset another. You have mixed opinions about gear progression, mixed opinions on itemization, mixed opinions on types of content to be released, and most importantly mixed opinions on the direction the game should move in. It would be impossible to meet everyone’s demands not due to lack of resources but simply because they are conflicting.

There are of course instances where the community agrees on certain things. Often times, incorporating feedback might not result in something positive even if initially it seemed like it would. In the past before there was the Internet, game developers did have the “this is our game and we will do what we want with it” attitude and many of those games turned out to be great. There were all the old Mario games, Sonic games, the old Fallout series, Neverwinter Nights, Baldur’s Gate, Oblivion, Final Fantasy, etc.

I agree, there are many things where the community is split like how LS is updated or should we get new maps or update current maps, however there are still numerous instances where the seeming majority of a populations (ie PvE, PvP, WvW) has been against an addition or subtraction and yet it was done anyway.

Some Examples:
-Player base has spoken out against temporary content since the start – we were given temp content for months
-Player base wants a way to aquire weapons from special events without RNG – we are given a ticket system that is based on RNG from some of the most useless items in the game (BLTC)
-Player base has asked for the game to be more rewarding – we have recieved updates to dungeons in order to bring all dungeon paths in line while nerfing profitable methods of game play to ensure “no style is more profitable then another” (unless of course you play the TP)
-WvWers have been outspoken against bloodlust or any buff that causes snowball effect – those such mechanics were defiently added
-PvPers wanted skill balance since summer – we were put on hold so 10 total players would not be forced to think of new strategies even though… as top players in the world… that should not have been an issue
-PvPers want increased rewards and rank to mean something… no increases besides PvE skins has ever been added and rank is even more easily farmed

And many things could be added to this list.

What is extremely funny is the community really yearns for more information. Anet refuses to say anything till its basically already been added to a release. If only they would take some features – precursor crafting for intance – and wrote blogs about how its being designed, what work needs to go into the project, how coding is coming along, ect… I think you would find people much happier. Its win win too as the player base will then become pretty aware that updates wont and cant happen over night. However this would be a pretty substantial culture shift for Anet.

You want feedback to fixing your game?

1.) Extrinsic rewards need to be provided away from RNG/Gold. Your skinner box is really poorly designed, to many players are smashing that button down and getting nothing out, while only a couple are getting 800g precursors on the first push. This is ultimately frustrating, there is no way to work towards any cosmetic item in a ‘fun’ matter that doesn’t involve champ train or TP flipping.

2.) Precursor crafting should be pushed to highest priority, not last item on the list

3.) Real Quality of life changes: Dual Specialization, LFG Tool takes you to dungeon (no porting to map), WvW map viewable before going inside, Glory tradable for PvE items, UI for Mini (separate from bank), Achievement Meta rewards placed in the achievement item panel (why are players left with the ever increasing amounts of backitems they may be to scared to use because they only got 1), and account-bound WvW rank and FOTM levels.

4.) Fotm rewards are lacking after a player receives their back-item and rings.

5.) Reward vs. Time vs. Skill Charts, this is really lop sided, why is farming champs or TP flipping more rewarding than say arah p4, or 8 orb Liadari, or even fotm (your ‘end-game’ dungeon).

6.) Heading back to GW lore, the LS has gone way off base and most people can’t seem to follow the story as to what is happening. I’m pretty sure a lot of us still don’t understand who Scarlet is and why she does what she does.

Listen to this man!

Now to respond to the Devs.

Your issue is we started out calm and kind, but we were met with an attitude of “this is our game, and we will do what we want with it”. To make matters worse we were given lengthy posts and articles similar to this promising us the world and everything we wanted. However in implementation we were given things that didnt work quite right, things taken to extremes (RNG weapons for events) or just simply told ‘soon’. And slowly that minotrity of immature players turned into the majority as players opinions seemingly were ignored.

Now we stand here, with another piece of rhetoric that we are asked to accept at face value. I ask this… why should we? Why should the community believe anything that is said by a Developer here when so many times we are given words without actions? We’ve already heard the story – a promise to be more vocally active – and yet here we are again needing a Dev to tell us it will all be ok.

So, Im sorry, but I dont believe really anything in that Dev post.

Jade Quarry, Sanctum of Rall or Blackgate?

Parisalchuk.9230

Contrary to popular belief, there are some differences between the three big servers. My opinion could be wrong here since I don’t zerg, but here is how I have seen T1 play out over the last 10 months.

Blackgate and JQ have smaller guilds which sometimes run separately, and sometimes run together to create a massive blob. SoR tends to run one blob more often. This might vary depending on timezone, so what I’ve seen mostly applies to NA. Running in a smaller group might sound appealing until you get run over by a 40 man zerg a few times, so each has it’s merits.

SoR is arguably the most competitive server, with Blackgate in close second. JQ is competitive too, but they don’t seem to be all about winning in T1.

BG by far has the better smaller roaming guilds, although SoR is starting to pick it up a little. JQ is still a bit behind on the small organized roaming front. If you are a roamer looking for fights, join JQ.

With leagues coming up, all three of these servers are getting transfers, so things will probably change a lot soon.

If you believe SoR blobs any more than the other 2 servers you’re delusional. BG and JQ blobs just as much if not more.

The stigma is absolutely true. You have not seen blob until you have seen SoR blob. They never send anybody, they send everybody.

Yep, when SoR gets serious about blobbing our roaming gameplay can end quickly. Not because we get zerged but because EVERY single player on the map is in that blob. During that time period when CAPS and lulz seemed to stop playing, there were nights when we literally couldn’t find a single SoR player that wasn’t with the zerg.

This was before the Bloodlusts though. CAPS and lulz seem to be coming back, and SoR is adapting well to the new meta of roaming groups making a difference. =)

don’t act like any other server doesn’t do it either

Not to the extent that SoR has. If you roamed you would have realized that you can always find small groups to fight against with BG. SoR, not so much (until recently).

Just a note, there is a difference between 1-10 people roaming, 10-25 people ‘zergs’ and the 25+ blob. People need to learn these things. So sorry that when we want to take a garrison SOR has enough coordination to bring the usually 2 ‘zergs’ together to ensure we take it… however that does not imply SOR is simply a blob. Funny that BG and JQ are able to muster those same numbers when trying to take a defended keep/garri. Same goes just because you dont see many tiny party teams running around that it must mean they are in a single blob.

The ignorance of some people in T1 servers is astounding, just like those in lower tiers spouting crap about queue times and skill lag. Funny, you dont play on that tier, Im interested how you know this to be fact.

It should not take this long to fix this massive problem.

Only if it really is a problem. And that’s pretty much a matter of opinion.

What isn’t opinion is that they have committed to eventually implementing an alternative.

Be it warranted or not….

Read my quote above from Lindsey – they admitted it was a problem 1 year ago, its no longer a matter of opinion.

I have read it, in fact when it was first posted. Maybe you need to (re-)read it.

No mention of it being a problem.

Just because something is concerning, doesn’t mean it’s a problem. And further, if they had felt action was warranted, they would have done so (if they had felt it necessary).

Reading comprehension – it’s not for everyone.

They did try and fix it with the Lost Shores event by dropping a high rate of precursors. If you were part of that thread or read through it (using this reading comprehension you so speak of) you would know that.

But good try attempting to defeat my point with semantics and not actual support.

I don’t recall seeing a post by a dev saying that this was the intended fix. I’ll browse the thread again just to be sure. But I do know for sure a one time event reward isn’t a viable solution to a long term supply problem. At most, it’s a supply-shock, which quickly fades. So, no, I don’t think was a solution, rather just a nice reward for the event.

If this had been an intended solution, there have been plenty of similar events since where this method could have been repeated to again shock supply. Given that it hasn’t been repeated, it wouldn’t be a reach to conclude that this was not the intent of that event.

And just for absolute clarity, you reference the single quote by Lindsay, not the thread or any other quote, in your original response to me. And in that quote, there is no mention of ANet conceding that an actual problematic situation exists.

I didnt say that was their long term solution – it was their fix to combat the current rising costs with the intention of adding the scavenger hunt to be the long term fix. Also Ive never seen anyone share the concern of someone over something that they didnt think was a problem. Thats like saying you are concerned over the homeless but dont think its a problem that they are there. It makes no sense.

It should not take this long to fix this massive problem.

Only if it really is a problem. And that’s pretty much a matter of opinion.

GW2 entire end game was designed around cosmetics, working towards your legendary IS part of the end game. The current system to get a precursor is so broken it is impossible for thousands of players to even start working towards end game.

This precursor problem is like Warcraft not having any raids or tiers of gears for an entire year.

So yes this is a massive problem.

Complete nonsensical depiction of the situation – A player begins working towards their end game the moment they start mapcompletion, or earn their first gold, get a T6 mat… The precurosor is 25%-45% or less of the actual Legenday (depending on how you portion the components).

Three methods to get a precursor exist now. Two are RNG based, the third provides inevitability.

  • Random drop
  • Mystic Forge
  • BLTP

Don’t like RNG, the trading post offers an absolute way to acquire one. If a player is incappable, or unwilling to employ any of those methods, that is their problem.

Three solutions (perhaps only 1 viable) solutions already exist to what you call a “problem”.

The problem is getting 25% of the legendary (the precursor) costs almost 50% of the entire weapon and is almost universally the final piece. There is also no incremented way to work towards that goal. Saving money is not the answer as its an endless battle of gaining and spending as you work towards a moving target. You get no choice in this matter as well as the only way to make money in the game is to play, and the only way to play invloves spending money on repairs and waypoints at minimum and if you take a week off enjoy the new 20 gold increase to your goal. You dont shell out T6 mats to play this game and you always need just 250 each of those.

The fact is everything BUILDS to making the weapon except the precursor which only subtracts. You make clovers you get T6 mats/ectos/shards. You do map completion you get money to spend and other mats. You want a precursor you only pay money and your only return is either unreleated weapons (via forge) that will let you try again if you spend more or nothing if you are saving money.

If I had to guess you are someone who has a legendary or two and fear that your precious weapon is going to be devalued because people who play this game will have an actual shot of acquiring one.

Anyone remember this lovely tidbit when Dusk was under 300 gold

We have been watching the prices climbing on Legendary precursors and share your concerns about some of them becoming too expensive. We will continue to monitor the situation and will make any adjustments we feel are necessary.

Obviously you didnt share those concerns or we wouldnt be staring down 800+ gold precursors.

Haha, so true!

If they -really- wanted to fix precursor prices until they (finally) manage to implement a replacement for that silly lottery game that precursors are, all they’d need to do is adjusting the drop rates. No programming required. Just changing a handful of parameters, increase the drop rate by a factor of two or three and prices will come down to more reasonable levels. Their economist person likely has a UI for making chances like that already.

That they don’t do that means they don’t care that the precursor is THE single thing putting legendaries far out of reach for the vast majority of players.

And before I am getting flames tossed at me, I think getting a legendary -should- be hard. But it shouldn’t require gambling. Or mindlessly farming cash for weeks and months just to pay off a gambler. Make us…play the game, perhaps?

I agree the RNG is insanse. I have over 1700 hours played on my warrior. Assume even half of that is AFK and doing non world events thats still 850 hours of farming, dungeon running, fractals, guild missions, world events and I have never had a precursor for any weapon drop for me. Thats insane.

We have given Anet plenty of suggestions for ways to mitigate this issue to keep the weapon rare while letting people follow a path to get it (things like achievement point based, token based, crafted, ect) yet we sit here over a year after release with no further details then we know its wanted and we are ‘working’ on it.

What isn’t opinion is that they have committed to eventually implementing an alternative.

Be it warranted or not….

Read my quote above from Lindsey – they admitted it was a problem 1 year ago, its no longer a matter of opinion.

Terrible Story Telling

in Living World

Parisalchuk.9230

They could have done the LA part of that story as an ingame cutscene like they did during F&F or at some points during the summer.

Why didnt they?

I think that is an important question. Mostly because one reason I can think of “its cheaper to put it on the website”. And that is a terrible reason that highlights the loss of quality we’ve seen all summer.

Truth be told all other reasons I thought of seem very contrived and trying too hard to see it in a more positive light. But maybe someone can think of another plausible explanation here?

I dont know if its particularly ‘cheaper’ but it certainly is easier to write a full story and post it to a webpage then break it down into text and give it to NPCs. Problem is, just because its easier doesnt mean it should be done.

If they have the time and will to add NPC chat to a homeless robot that competes with another street peddler then they certainly should be able to add meaningful lore into the actual game.

Also this whole “Living Story Journal” to catch people up with the current living story isnt that answer for me either. Thats still me reading a story that is sent to me rather then actually playing the game and trying to find it.

Terrible Story Telling

Parisalchuk.9230

Your missing the point. Why is this lore outside of the game. Why has every revelation we have had about anything in the lore either given by a piece like this or through an interview with their lore team?

It hasn’t.
Scarlet was introduced in game for one.
So was the Molten Alliance and the Aetherblades.

Some things simply don’t make sense to put in the game and is not needed to understand the story, thus they can add them outside of the game to give it some extra flavor.

For content that is billed as ‘Living’ it sure would be nice if NPCs in the world actually lived in it.

Yes a bunch of stuff first appeared in the game, but they were never explained nearly enough until their respective short stories came out and explained everything, or an interview was given and more details were released. The ‘quest’ type content we get for achievement points are less history telling and learning and instead just random tasks. Take a look at Tequatl. Why exactly did we run around looking at scales, and teeth randomly on the ground?

If you compare it to other games right now, it’s pretty low, but not bad! There’s definitely some room for improvement, and we’re talking about ways we can help with that for future tournaments.

Re posting this as it is a valid Idea.

How about a 15v15 GvG tournament?
all we will need is an arena where we we can use out WvW armor/accessories/food. I dont think that will be to hard to do.
I can name at least 10 guilds (10×15 = 150 players) that would jump on this tournament in a heartbeat!

just think about all the views this can get, its a win win for both sides

WvW guys always make me lol.. you guys would wipe in a blink of an eye in an actual PvP situation, and use the huge numbers (15v15) to shield you.

Also, Guild DeathZergmatch isn’t GvG. For educational purposes, this is GvG: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Gvg

If ArenaNet would actually make a real GvG, most of theWvW guys couldn’t get to the top 1k… I bet.

Fun fact: GW1’s competitive GvG scene had more than 10k dedicated players. And it was only 1 gamemode. Your 150 is pretty meaningless.

Say GvGers are bad and cant get into the top 1k…. person saying this isnt even in the top 1k… Funny

Even funnier that I myself now GvG, I was a top PvP on a top NA team. So yea… your opinion is wrong.

I’m talking about a top 1k GvG ladder.

And try searching in EU. I am at 97% Team Arena because my team stopped 4 months ago and ladder decay got me down from the top 200. 63% winrate.

But atm I’m still top 200 soloque.

One hell of ladder decay… I stopped over a month ago and I have dropped to 400 from 150. Certainly not 800 spots.

Also SoloQ, lol. Ok.

Y soloque is luck based (and i am unlucky as hell). But you, despite playing a ranger (i assume spirit).. I’m amazed you aren’t shown.

Im not shown of SoloQ (I assume there is where you are looking) because after going 4-1 and having no real effect on the outcome of the match I just stopped playing it and went back to team queue.

Most likely went back to Zergmatch instead.

Someone not familiar with the NA team scene… are they… Wow.

Logistics certainly are. How are you to find the ‘best GvG’ team when you cant at will play against another servers teams? You cant accurately schedule at the moment either as there is no guarantee you can get all 30 people into the BL by a set time.

It right now can only be a nice side game created by the community while we continue to petition you guys to actually add support for it through either expansion of custom arenas or a full fledge mode.

About 1,000 during the finals. Never hit 2,000 viewers. However, the weird thing was it was fun to watch (mostly) and there were some great matches.

The future growth argument doesn’t work with this saturated genre. Next year the next shiney MMO will get all the eSport love.

Its actually kinda funny, for all the hate GvG is getting in this thread it stands probably the best chance of catching on as a 15 v 15 RPG style open combat game mode is unheard of in the industry. GW2 has the only current RvR game mode in the industry which is why they are trying to capitalize on that with leagues now.

There is a reason its pulling in near the same numbers of viewers when casted (without any fancy tools like spectator mode and custom servers) as sPvP events.

Seeing as a guild only had to play a match or 2 to get on the leader board where you are getting your stats from, and GvG guilds in GW1 had multiple smurf guilds your numbers are WAY off.

Is this world changing event bad just because it touches a specific area you guys like?

Its bad because they didnt need to remove content from the game to change the world.

In a game that is permanent content challenged, removing permanent content is generally a bad idea. Though its on a list of terrible ideas that make Daily Wars a pretty lack luster game in its current state.

Will NPCs actually have a clue whats going on and be able to talk to me about whats happening or am I going to have to read another article about the characters involved? Are we going to finally have a real role in the world or are we just going to be another scavenger hunt team or clean up crew? Will NPCs finally stick around for more then 2 weeks or are we going to be introduced to someone for a month and then never talk to them again?

Some ANET interfered with our GvG

in WvW

Posted by: Parisalchuk.9230

Parisalchuk.9230

Why do people keep saying this GvG is real GvG?

because in GW2 this is the GvG we have.

If you want to go play GW1 GvG go ahead. but do not come here and tell us GW2 players this is not “real” GvG.

if you want to go 8v8 there is sPvP for that.

This is not. It’s two mini zergs clashing into eachother. There is 0 strategy or offering split squads or anything of the like. No strategy involved. Don’t get me wrong, I get it. It’s the only avenue guilds have at the moment.

But if you think 15v15 or 20v20 in an area the size of a tennis court involves any strategy (not skill, strategy) then your mistaken. You may as well host GvG’s in Hill’s Lord’s rooms, at least spectators could sit and watch from above like a real gladiator arena. Or that Bloodlust node. It’s the same style of ‘smashing into eachother’ … or ‘dropping the bomb’ … joke.

Hopefully Anet will eventually get to adding something where it will require people to think, and move. Strike and Counter strike.

It’s still fun in it’s own way, but not nearly as enjoyable and very much reminds me of watching my 6 year old’s soccer team all chasing a ball.

I dont think you have ever done a GvG or were party of a true open field 15v15 battle during a WvW match. There is tons of strategy which is based on player skill. GW1 was purely player skill for GvG. Could you react fast enough to catch the spike and heal it or can you time your spikes well enough to happen at the same time as everyone else. That was far more important then positioning, timing attacks, ect.

GW2 GvG requires less individual skill as your being covered by your team mates but requires and extreme amount of strategic positioning and timing of attacks and cool downs so that you can get 1 or 2 people down and not lose anyone.

Both forms require skill and strategy, just in very different ways. Yes it looks like a zerg hitting another zerg. Thats based on GW2’s ridiculous animations so everything looks like a spam fest (even 1v1’s in sPvP look like button mashing due to the high amount of animation). In reality there is a lot going on in the background.

I second what Courin has stated and would like to add my own confirmation to what she said.

The Anet person in question is one of the most dedicated, passionate people I know when it comes to this game. I mean, I’m super dedicated to the game and he honestly puts me to shame in comparison.

Having had the pleasure to play the game with him and get to know him I’ve been watching this thread with horror because he’s literally the last person to deserve to be dragged through the mud. He’s a lovely, kindhearted and fun person that I’m honored to know and people in this thread are making complete incorrect assumptions about him.

Having watched the video myself all I see, knowing him is someone who tried to find out what was going on. Then got verbal abuse thrown at him and then tried to defuse the situation using his tag. Unfortunately this was taken completely the wrong way and blown way out of proportion.

I can guarantee he meant well and to be honest I feel he was correct in trying to resolve the situation at hand. He made some small mistakes in the way he did which then got woefully misinterpreted, blown out of proportions and all this hatred towards him is seriously undeserved no matter who he is or what he does.

This whole ordeal reminds me of an angry incoherent mob with their pitchforks and torches ready to lynch someone over the slightest thing despite said person being innocent of all the unrelated accusations/complaints being made in regards to GvG/WvW which he is not responsible for.

Also. As Courin said, I’m not speaking on this persons behalf. I just can’t stand seeing people wrongly accuse someone whose kind and whom I consider a friend.

I understand peoples frustration in regards to the GvG/WvW subject but that’s no excuse for this public lynching of a single unrelated person. Secondly to those people who keep demanding GvG. What do you expect them to do? Magically pull a whole new game mode out of thin air?

GvG is done by a minority of players. Anet is a business. If they do decide to implement GvG it would be out of love for their playerbase as they certainly wouldn’t make money out of it and if anything loose money as they’d have to pay a team to build it. Such a process would take a long time that is if they even will.

So, have some patience and see what happens in a year or two. And maybe if you’d ask nicely instead of throwing abuse at Anet they’d be more likely to consider it.

If you really hate the game so much if there is no GvG then perhaps you should play something else in the meantime till they do instead of spamming livestream chats, making demands and constantly creating a negative and toxic environment in the community. You’re just making it less likely anything will happen and just annoy people in the process by being rude.

“Your violating my game type” is hardly diffusing the situation by any means… Also that now links him to this GvG discussion and he no longer is ‘unrelated’. By speaking the way he did about a GvG occurring he inserted himself into the conversation and by using his tag carelessly he became a representation of Arenanet. So while I can respect you want to defend your friend, your claims are off base. He spoke out against a known vocal group of people in a way that disrespected them and what they are trying to do within the limits of the ToS. It was foolish and this reaction should not at all be unexpected. If he didnt realize it would have this kind of backlash then he clearly has no idea what goes on within these forums and that opens up a whole different conversation.

Now about your last statements, how are GvG supports supposed to show their support other then going where the players are and trying to rally support to show the Devs their is a desire for this game mode? What your suggesting is the opposite. Go away till they implement it?! Cause that will work. There is a reason that people in life go on public strikes to get change, because it works. What your suggesting is basically shut up and take and if you dont like it quit. Thats a horrible suggestion.

I still find it funny how people are complaining about a guy doing what he wanted to do inside their mini-game, while they were doing the same thing – on a bigger scale

In this case, i’m on the side of the developer.

Your again missing the point that an Anet employee used his tag as a means of trying to project himself over the GvG and troll.

Who cares… guild leaders and commander pull the same crap everyday.
Smart people understand that’s just a status gimmick that can be ignored

Difference is those guild leaders and commanders dont work for Arena Net…

The players using abusive langage should be ban and every people that are supporting GvG, period.
See these GvG players has no respec and TOS says that ruining others game experience in a game environment not playing it as intended is a grief so just ban every people doing GvG in WvW maps anyway they respect noone and nothing as we can see and delete any thread about GvG just give them a good reward for being so selfish.

If we are banning GvG supporters because “GvG is ruining others game experience” then I want everyone that has ever participated or supports TC’s Dolyak parades in WvW to recieve a ban too. Atleast the GvG players are fighting eachother and not walking around with tonics getting mad when servers attack them.

Why don’t GvG pay for a custom arena and conduct there GvG there?

Your completely equal there and no one can interfere with you?

The cost is insignificant to multiple guilds, so that can’t be a problem.

spvp does not support fights larger than 8v8.

You can do 10v10, but as I outline above there are even more limiting conditions beyond that.
