Gw2 is a masterpiece at it’s foundation. Content-wise however…
I’ve spent hours trying to make ReShade work. I know that the “files” are supposed to go into the /bin -folder (which of the files in the .zip isn’t specified, though). So far I’ve managed to get the overlay-text running on several occasions, usually saying “No effects found!”. It has said “Successful” or something to that effect once, but the effects where not added anyways.
I’ve attempted to install Framework 1.0 and the ReShade 0.19.2 Public Beta with and without SweetFX 2.0.
Any help would we very appreciated. Thanks in advance =)
Stop giving him attention and he stops, ok.
Would you please:
Stop dedicating time of your life spewing mild hatred onto this lovely individual.
Thank you!
Well even without the buff limit removal its going to give more variation in 10 man instances. You will need 2 warriors for the might and banners. Thats a given. But you will only need 1 thief…
[…]
… With buff limit changed to 10 and more challenging content i would expect to see meta comps of 1w, 1m, 1g, 1t, 4e, 1eng and 1n/r. Maybe 3 eles so you can fit all classes in.
[…]
One crude suggestion: What would be the result if there was a hard limit of 1 profession per ‘raid’? (Total groupsize of 9, or perhaps with room for a double of one profession.)
@Phadde.7362
The class balance is mostly focused on pvp. Pve are just a side effect. Fun is subjective, what you think is fun to play others might think it is not.
Well, unless that means that they almost completely neglect PvE, It’s hardly the full story.
Fun is indeed subjective, but it would seem that the fact that the profession is sub-par to this extent would mean a huge reduction in enjoyment for the general PvE player, no?Necros are very important in wvw.
Necros are viable in spvp. People have own anets tournaments using 1 necro on the team comp.
Necros can play any pve content in the game.Yes they might not be optimal for speed runs but that is not mandatory for the game. If you just want fun you wouldn’t mind taking a few seconds longer to complete a dungeon.
Thanks! Although I tend to agree with spoj with the matter of their usefulness, this made it a bit more clear to me.

Does anyone have a clue why the Necromancers still won’t have nearly as much support and utility as they need to be on par with other professions in PvE?
I’m genuinely interested in hearing any explanation. Designing professions to be fun to play, i.e., doesn’t seem to make sense, as most enjoyment seem to disappear when your profession is sub-par – and sometimes even get kicked because of it.
~
Also, I don’t understand why having access to a sufficient amount of group-support would break theme; Having a being of nightmares on your team surely makes something vaguely (or very) similar to Empowered Allies natural. Or maybe one could possess allies, making them go berserk – and perhaps gain a bit of bleeding or poison, which would make the Necros tools for party wide condi-clense more viable… It doesn’t break theme…

The image you linked was hilarious.
Greetings!
I’m quite annoyed that my pet so easily gains aggro. I want my pet to do damage, but I want the foe to attack me.
Is there any type of pet, or trick, that allows for this kind of playstyle?
Thanks in advance.
- A new PvP game mode. Different from conquest.
- Dueling in the open world. Perhaps restricted to certain small dueling areas
- Difficult content in PvE
- Lots of items that you gain by completing difficult achievements (i.e.: Defeating a difficult encounter without taking damage).
- More Dungeons
- Abolish stacking and skipping in most dungeons.
I found this old post from another forum and though that it was really interesting!
It’s from a year ago, so it is slightly dated. I think this was during a time when the Warrior, Guardian and Mesmer where considered the best professions (at least that’s the attitude from those forums at that time)
Worth having in mind is that you could only vote once, which means that if a guardian, i.e. was a profession that many people loved to play as an alt, it would still get underrepresented. So perhaps the title should have been “Your favorite profession vote”

I second you on the exploit/glitching(/stacking)!
For me, the enjoyment of particular paths is largely determined of how many times the group is likely to use exploits.
It just makes fun secondary to gold-gain.
Yet, I don’t think people would be all that unhappy if they where not able to (i.e.) stack; The increased gold gain isn’t big enough for that.
(Removing most exploits from daily routine and increasing gold gain would be a good solution)
we need 1vs1 too like lineage2 olympiad
I believe that the reason we dont have 1v1 is because some builds are not even close to be balanced in 1v1 if they are not forced to sit in a small circle.
What’s balanced, really? The vast majority of possible (and reasonable) PvE builds are probably underpowered – Further on; Maybe most of those are very much so.
But you’re still right though. The 1v1 builds are likely to be particularly unbalanced. This suggested game mode is kinda at the far end of one spectrum, but a lot of people would still be overjoyed if it was introduced into the game – even in a very casual setting.
I’ve always felt that the biggest problem with sPvP has been the lack of game modes (as having just one is ridiculous in an MMO, and it is somewhat devastating for GW2).
The game modes that you listed fairly much summarizes which ones I’d like to see added first
They surely have it hidden away someplace, so it shouldn’t be difficult to add the option for those that want it.
It was well made. Let us have it again! =)
i’m a pvper so i sometimes buy new costumes hoping that a new look will breath life in to the 1 game mode and the same 6 maps…it doesn’t XD
i agree with you though, if the game is still going it is because they are making a profit, we should see more content, call me crazy but lets turn it into 2 pvp game modes?! wild eh!
I think this is perhaps the biggest fault of the game, in my own opinion. Just one PvP game mode in an MMO is actually ridiculous!
Conquest is such a narrow focus. Most of all I miss a small-scale, structured, last team standing, arena- kind of game mode.
Log in screens are also a huge nostalgia drive. I know it has been the main one for me and my old mates in certain games.
But how will you then be able to know there is a PvP tournament going on you are surely interested in every time you log in? Or read about the new offers in the Gem Store?
It would be cool if we had paper-boys running around selling news-fliers, or if there where posters in cities and villages that you could read
I don’t care what anyone says.
you are what is known as a fanboy
No, I think you have to be completely unreasonable for that. It seems to me that the OP is sharing his subjective opinion.
And yes, the game is quite fantastic. And yes, there are a lot of additions that can be made to vastly improve the game.
It burst out the Guildwars 2 theme. Concept art flashed through behind the huge logo.
It was actually a great welcome. I think there should be an option to toggle the old Login-Screen on or off.

Super-fast response. Good job, ANet!
Odd. I have an easier time surviving on my Ele.
I use Evasive arcana, but otherwise the traits are purely offensive. Gear is all Berserkers
Switching weapon-sets and/or changing my utility-skills is enough to handle tougher encounters. Sometimes I equip a few pieces of defensive gear aswell.
This is backwards logic. Most games, when they go into a lull, produce more content to get people back. They come out with expansions to increase the playerbase. They make expansions to renew interest.
Games that are doing well don’t have to do that. That’s the logic of business.
The exception is when a game is in it’s last throws and you abandon it. Since the 9/9 patch was pretty robust, there’s no sign the game is being abandoned. Since we get new stuff on November 4th there’s no sign.
But if people weren’t playing and paying, the logical move would be an expansion.
I apologize in advance.
I think it’s a mistake to play ‘pro-game-designer/producer’ and speak of believes as if they where facts.
Some games that do well also produces new content, but perhaps rather to stay on top; WoW started releasing expansions even though it was doing unbelievably well. Probably all about the cash in that case.
I love the game. The artstyle, the core philosophies, the combat (if only the encounters took better use of it… Combat trinity, what?)
Conquest as the only game mode makes the PvP completely dull for me. It changed for a while when Courtyard was released, but they’ve dropped the ball on that one for now. Otherwise, I’ve loved MMOPvP since I was a kid.
More than one bloody game mode please – and more PvP exclusive armors and weapons would be nice! It was the big bait in previous games, and it worked splendidly!
WvW… Despise zerging. Otherwise a brilliant concept. Perhaps removing the 5-target cap would make a huge difference, but I assume that you don’t for the same reason that there’s condi-caps. (The hardware can’t handle it)
PvE is still too much about stacking and skipping (gold is at best secondary to fun guys. Or do you just not enjoy playing the game?).
And the only PvE content that I essentially always only wanted to play was dungeons, but those are super-casual. The only thing left for me to do is to play Fractals.
But since that’s the only thing in the game that I find worthy to spend my time on, it’s not nearly as fun as it should be; This goes against some of the core reasons why MMOs are enjoyable! There are supposed to be many things that you like to do. Now it feels like you’re funneled into one category. It’s terrible, actually.
In other news.. This would still end up as dps race. Kill wave before it can kill you.
Rallies ftw.Although ANet seem unwilling to do so, it’s not all that hard to make the combat move away from the extreme dps focus that currently exists.
… and as the waves gets tougher, the only way of slaying them is likely to be through focusing on survival and support. (Multiple sets of equipment might become more useful than ever)
You seem to misunderstand.
There is still the use of support and CC skills in dps meta.A wave will still be easier to survive with high dps. As I said: Rallies ftw.
Yeah, I misunderstood a bit; I misread the OP and though that the Rally-function would be disabled.
Also I didn’t say that there where not use for the two remaining part of the GW2 combat-trinity, I talked about which part of the trinity was focused on (build-wise).

no clue but i aprove of that idea. Gives a purpose to more survival focused build in a gauntlet arena type fight and open more build possibility. Lets call it the lion arch collosum or something like that, didnt they said they hosted gladiatorial fight there anyway?
I mean they could make it work like that graveling event in AC cept now you CANT destroy the nests XD
Seems like it would fit the Charr theme. And the Black Citadel already have an arena.
This sounds like a lot of fun. It will probably become a cauldron of elitism, but doing it with guildies would be perfect! Perhaps you could have things like a Trebuchet (maybe you earn currency after each wave which can be used to purchase a Trebuchet, or a permanent Water Field i.e.)
An arena like this already exists in Plains of Ashford, although simplified and on a small scale.
“Suggestion”?
“Polite demand”!
=)
It’s not a jumping puzzle, there’s no chest, no achievement and nothing else that could qualify as an ‘end point’. Not far beyond that point the path runs out and you have to go back to ground level.
But I had the exact same thought when I first saw it. I even ‘gave in’ and went to the wiki thinking I must have missed the next part of the path because I was so sure it was a puzzle.
Hm, yeah. Since there’s no achievement I suppose that it’s not a JP. But an actual endpoint is quite possible though; There are areas with chests lying around – some of which I think could be descibed as tiny jumping-puzzles.
More images.

I ran across something that seem to be a Jumping Puzzle – or atleast something that once was meant to be one.
It’s in the northeast corner of Fields of Ruins in an area called “Tanglerot Hills”.
It starts at “Rosko’s Campsite”. You climb up the stairs in that camp, run past the Black bears and then jump on some stone-pillars. Then you jump onto the mountain-side where there’s a very clear path to follow (in the usual JP-setting) and even a wooden staircase, a hut with some doodads and a campfire!
After that it seems like you are meant to proceed onto the roof of 2 Harpy-nests, as there are some conveniently placed branches. Although, when I’m on top of the 2nd Harpy-nest, I’ve no idea where to go.
(edited by Phadde.7362)
> First person perspective. (Immersive, cool and it enables Oculus Rift)
> Ability to zoom out further (Think this isn’t in the game because of the game’s combat philosophy. Although, perhaps letting the player choose for themselves is the best? A zoomed out view lets you have a better overview, but you can’t see animations as well)
They want to make money. That’s just a fact of life. You can’t be subtle about these things if you want your business to stay afloat, and as a customer, I have to live with this.
Rather: They need to make money. MMOs are costly things to keep running (and growing).
Although the RNG is a bit of an issue though.
Agreed, but I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see downed state removed from PvP…. there is absolutely no reason such a system should be in a competitive game….
It would be nice if some new game modes didn’t have the downed system, while it remains in Conquest (or the other way around).
I’ve been thinking about this a lot.
In my mind, the biggest misstep in the development of sPvP was to only have 1 game mode. (The most common description of GW2’s PvP that I see on other forums always seem to be that it gets dull, repetitive or boring quickly. Although it does gets praise as well)
If we had about 2 more game mode which fits in nicely with our current one, sPvP would probably enjoy a huge improvement. It’s reasonable to say that new game modes should collaborate with Conquest and offer what that mode doesn’t, in order to create a diverse and enjoyable PvP environment for everyone, which is something that I think is crucial.
To those against duels in GW2:
What is your strong arguments against dueling, which cannot be solved in a satisfying way?
The truth is that there are a lot of people that really want duels to be in the game, and it would bring a lot of positives with it. That, no one can deny.
So, your arguments?i have a better idea, what’s your strong argument to add duels in an area where PvP doesn’t belong, just give a strong good reason beyond “but it’s in every other MMO” or “i want duels”.
I’ve stated arguments for Dueling in two rather long comments on this page and the previous, and how they can be implemented without really affecting those that do not want to take part of Dueling.
Arguments against dueling?
1 First and foremost. Gw2 wasn’t launched with dueling. Gw2 ISN’T other MMOs. The majority of reasons for dueling is “X MMO has it, many others do too, why not GW2?”….
2 …Also open world dueling creates more of an irritation than anything. I don’t think it will become as “toxic” as people would like to believe, but map chat in general (expect when train or boss is going on) is already irritating and “toxic” enough as it is…
3 Anet already gave us an option for dueling. 1v1 “rooms” in the heart of the mist. You can duel to your hearts content.
4 “Becasue its fun, and is a good way to train/pass time” is also a major pro argument for having open world dueling. But I would contend that just as many people find NOT dueling to be just as fun. Dueling for training purposes is not really a valid argument…
5 And finally, Dueling by waiting for mega bosses would cause more problems and grief than anything. Everyone already complains about no one listening to commanders for Teq and THW, and thats with nothing to distract them. People can get downright hostile when it goes wrong because “Noobs weren’t paying attention!!!” Now throw in dueling. People arrive early, half listen to commander and instead start dueling…
All in all I can see very little benefit to adding dueling in open world PvE at this point. If it had been implemented shortly after launch it wouldn’t even be an issue. …
…and begin QQing about people going crazy with duels causing party wipes, lags, chat spam, harassment, etc.
Wow, ok…
1: Asking for dueling in GW2 isn’t because people want GW2 to be “other mmos”, however, in many cases it most certainly is as a result of people enjoying dueling in other mmos and want it for our game as well. (In which it probably would work very well)
2: If we have a few, small dueling arenas (a circle on the ground would suffice) spread across Tyria, inside of which dueling would be allowed (but nowhere else), these issues would disappear.
3: As I’ve said once before, finding a custom arena server where you can actually duel people is really, really rare. It’s simply not worth sitting in the browser for an hour when it mostly results in nothing.
Whenever I do find them, however, I’m easily having more fun than I’ve ever had in GW2 – It’s an absolute blast and I’m sure a lot of others would say the same.
4: Everyone will not find dueling fun. A lot of people will though. My first MMO was WoW, like a lot of others. The combat system wasn’t really as well suited for dueling, but nonetheless there where always about half of the amount of people outside the gate dueling as there where in the busy city center (Where the bank and AH/TP was).
And how is dueling not a valid form of PvP practice? It’s the purest way to practice 1v1, arguably a much more effective way when compared to the means we have today.
I find it a lot easier to learn countering another profession/build by dueling them in Courtyard (Again though, it’s a huge struggle finding a server for that)
And it is a lot of fun, and a great way to pass the time. I’m sure almost everyone have spent an awful lot of time waiting in LA/VK for a group (of guildies) to assemble. How great would it be to be able to duel in comfortable distance of the FotM portal?
5: Again, dueling areas would completely solve this (if it would ever be an issue in the first place.)
Frankly, I don’t see why people gets so passionately against dueling? It adds a lot for the vast amount of players that will enjoy it. And it will draw a lot of players to sPvP. The few negatives is nothing against the positives, especially with dueling areas. I’m sure most people that want dueling will accept dueling areas – As long as they can enjoy dueling other people. We could even have them hidden away for those that doesn’t want to take part of dueling – Put them in the sewers of LA, in caves or on cliffs, as long as we get dueling.
To those against duels in GW2:
What is your strong arguments against dueling, which cannot be solved in a satisfying way?
The truth is that there are a lot of people that really want duels to be in the game, and it would bring a lot of positives with it. That, no one can deny.
So, your arguments?
I’ve attached a dueling-poll in my signature below, since the last big thread about this subject.
Sorry – but since most who are against won’t vote – it is a straw poll, meaning not scientific and not worth ANYTHING.
Ask in game – you will be surprised how many people say no there.
It gives you a good estimation – But it’s probably quite different in reality.
There was actually a second poll with it’s own thread, simply saying “vote”. It got 14% against, 8% neutral, rest was for dueling in a few variations (although not very limiting).
It’s surprisingly similar to the numbers in this poll below.
No, you and a few hundred want duels. Don’t presume to speak for the other 99.9% of the player base.
First of all, you’re being a bit hypocritical here.
Secondly, what we saw in the last big thread about dueling, there where literally just a couple of players that where passionately against dueling and where very vocal about it, while the number of players (in that thread) that wanted duels where a lot, lot larger (Doesn’t mean that it’s the same ratio throughout the whole playersbase, ofcourse). Also, the most significant thing in that thread was how, perhaps most, nay-sayers didn’t respond to the many solutions suggested, most of which seemed to work splendidly (in theory).
Thirdly, what argument against dueling is there, if it’s implemented in such a way that you have to enable the ability (a tag) in order for others to even ask you to duel them in the first place? The standard will be to have it off. We could go further, by having about a dozen or two dueling zones spread out over Tyria, which would be the only place to duel in.
There are tons of positives with dueling. Dueling in WoW was an absolute blast, and there where always a lot of people outside the main cities dueling eachother (and that’s with a combat system that, in my opinion is far less suited for dueling).
By far the most fun that I’ve had in GW2 is dueling in the Courtyard, however it’s extremely rare to find a server where you can actually have a real duel, so it’s not even an option.
Dueling will be very enjoyable to a big chunk of the playerbase, and to some an immense amount of fun! I don’t think that anyone can deny that.
It will also bring a lot of people over to PvP, there’s no denying that either! (Especially if we get a game mode that’s more focused on actual combat, rather than strategically positioning your team across a map, hurrhurr).
I’ve attached a dueling-poll in my signature below, since the last big thread about this subject.
I am really loving the discussion going on in this thread. This is a testament to how awesome our community is! Alright so now that we have flushed out some ideas let me give you some guide lines and let me know if we can design around it.
1. Must be able to be hot join-able
* Not easily griefed and allow players to be able to jump in and out
2. Must fit the 5 on 5 standard
3. Can fit our standard PvP match time (15 mins)
4. (Would Be Nice) Shout castableAlright let me know how your ideas fit or change with these standards.
No! Why do you have to limit yourselves to a 5v5 standard? That’s an awful idea!
What I would enjoy the most is a 2v2 or 3v3 arena game mode and a more relaxed, large scale game mode with around 30 players. Not only do I think that these kind of game modes would be very enjoyable, but the difference in team sizes between game modes would make it feel as we would get an even greater diversity of game modes in PvP, on top of the diversity that comes with a larger quantity of game modes (Just having 1 is beyond ridiculous; it is tragic.)
Although, that’s just my opinion, but the general idea to just stick with a team size of 5 through all game modes is probably objectively a very bad one?
A second sodding Game mode would be a godsend.
Although I’ve had some of my most fun in gaming whilst dueling people in the Courtyard, it’s just not worth the hassle of trying to find a proper dueling-server; Either it’s out of control, full of griefers, or it’s one of those private ones where you get kicked and sometimes slightly abused for joining.
An actual 2v2 game mode for Courtyard would be my vote. If it’s a success, they could start working on a handful of different maps for that game mode, and maybe a separate teamQ.
Warrior is just as simple as guardian , ranger and necro. If you want something “challenging” play Ele , thief or shatter mesmer.
Warrior is still fun even if its easy play. Challenging dosent mean fun, like shatter mesmer is hard to play but it’s boring.
So play what you enjoy.
I’ve mained an Elementalist and a Warrior since the 1st beta event. I build them both to be effective, but mainly hard to play. I can say for sure that once you’ve grasped both professions (and are rolling a build as described), the Elementalist is a lot easier to play; It’s all a matter of cycling through skills in different orders, while in the Warrior’s case, it’s much more a matter of timing the correct skills in order to stay effective w/o dying on the spot.
For me…
Best:
- Combat system.
- Character builds.
- Basic gameplay.
- Gorgeous environments to explore.
- Music.
- Great lore established from previous game.In essence, a great foundation.
Worst:
- Severe lack of substantial new content.
- Severe lack of meaningful titles or achievements.
- Lack of prestigious items that aren’t simply gold grinds.
- Lack of great challenges.
- Severe lack of new pvp maps and game modes.
- Apparent lack of attention to pvp feedback (do they really think people like skyhammer?).
- Lack of good new lore.
- Lack of exploration of past lore.
- Lack of balance updates.
- Lack of attention to dungeons.
- Lack of attention to poor mechanics such as Defiant. In essence, poor use of the great foundation the game started with.
I completely agree.
The most dire issues imo is:
… Also the culture of exploiting, stacking and skipping in dungeons; The dungeons are actually rather enjoyable by themselves, but since everyone practices this sort of “cheating”, they become too trivial and boring. Although it seems like this is not a very popular opinion.
It’s terrible gameplay, imo.
Stacking favors goldgain, but who in their right minds would want a game which is designed for entertainment less enjoyable to play so that they can make more virtual cash?
You’re literally skipping the fun content to make more gold, while in many cases forcing the group to do the same. If you don’t enjoy the content, why the hell are you playing it in the first place?Because we use said content as a stepping stone to further goals/aspirations/successes that are more fun? Or maybe you’re making an unsupported generalisation that all of us don’t enjoy doing dungeons quickly? Sheesh.
I made a generalization that most people don’t enjoy stacking at all, yes.
Frankly, unless you enjoy WvW, what more is there besides dungeons? Fractals?
Pretty much the same kind of gameplay to me, slightly different at the higher levels.
Perhaps I’m a minority though.
It’s terrible gameplay, imo.

So yeah, my daily thought…
Where is my high level end game rewarding content ive been waiting for so long?
Am I in the wrong game?
Other MMOs generally have a threadmill, which makes it a lot easier.
But that’s no good excuse. Currently, PvE:ers have Dungeons(inc. FotM) and the occasional Big boss event if that’s of any appeal to you. The dungeons brings with them a very narrow difficulty; You just need to learn the basics of the combat and some of the few dungeon mechanics.
Learning these, getting to 80 and acquiring full exotic is a relatively quick process.
After that you don’t have much going for you. Sure, there are quite a few skins which are a nice goal to work towards, but the main issue lies within the low quantity of content to do (The dungeon paths are all very similar in their gameplay – this ties in to difficulty) and the fact that it gets really easy really fast. Higher level fractals are not quite an exception either; There are a lot of mechanics to learn, but once you’re over that threshold, it becomes trivial – It’s not actively challenging. Nothing is.
Personally it feels like features such as these below would give the game a huge, huge push forward:
Perhaps difficult achievements which requires a variety of skill to complete, which then awards skins or titles?
Anyways, there need to be a lot more legit content in both PvE and in PvP.
To me it feels like something much larger is missing from sPvP.
What do you think is missing the most?
So GD sick of Conquest; Only one game mode is already terrible, but it’s also quite a ‘niche’ which makes it even worse.
I’d personally love a game mode that is focused almost entirely on PvP combat, as in killing players.
I loved the 2v2 arenas in WoW, and I think that GW2 is a much better platform for that type of game mode.
Frankly though, I’d be overjoyed with any kind of additional game mode.
It’s slowly becoming better, but there doesn’t seem to be neither additional sPvP game modes, nor challenging PvE content on the horizon.
There just isn’t nearly enough.
