I have been farming precursor for a year and it never drops.
TOO LOW DROP
Yeah, farmers gonna farm.
I will just call it stupid if someone stockpile that much in order to make it on the first day.
Me cheap me use exotics.
=Vertical=
If I can’t feel a big difference in queensdale between all blue level 80 warrior and all blue level 15 warrior, why should I level? There should be no leveling if there is scaling.
The differences are 3 more somewhat useful skill equipped and almost neglectable stat bonus from traits. I don’t have the feeling of “oh that centaur slaughtered me when I was 6 and now I will make my revenge by one shoting all its family members”
=Horizontal=
If I could just buy the best armors on trading post by converting my real money in to gold, why should I go grind a week for them?
But exotic is a good point to stop since it can be guaranteed by doing normal dungeons, crafting, spending karma/badge, and buying on tp.
What about ascended? It is only guaranteed by crafting. Almost all other sources are purely RNG. People has also been complaining about the never-showing legendary scavenger hunt which you guys promised/said to release later this year but what they get now is this grindy ascended—I will say the grind level is even more than the “precursor grind”. In this way, introducing ascended equipment(with bad looks) is a very amateur idea.
(Yes, if you can’t tell yet, I’m very bored)
Is this what endgame has come to?
There you go. I totally agree with this genius.
Regarding the tower: it is just another 1111111111/ffffffffffff feast like what we had before, not much significance.
got the recipe from giant wintersday box
Whats required to make the item? Also is the recipe account bound or can it be bought on the TP? (I’m hoping the recipes, and mini Ho-Ho Tron, can be bought on TP)
Both recipes are account bound and for lvl 500 Armorsmith/Leatherworker/Tailor. Don’t know the materials required to make them.
grenth is not accound bound, dwyna is
got the recipe from giant wintersday box
Will it?
-no
Why?
-not balance
Already have full set of ascend trinkets on all my 5 toons. Not going for weapon and armor.
lol no trinity, no roles
BIG DAMAGE rules.
How long does it take you to load Lions Arch?
Well think about it again.
Lol you didn’t interrupt it, then don’t complain about it.
Quoted from Anet’s ranger guide video: “L2P”
The chance of me getting a precursor increased by 20%, seems legit. But wait, the chance of me not getting a precursor deceased by what? .00000002/.9999999 about 0.000002%.
What a significantly outstanding change!
If your chances of getting a Precursor were to be increased by 20%, the chances that you wouldn’t get one would decrease by an equal amount.
Oh I didn’t make it clear.
.00000012 to .0000001 is a 20% increase.… Decrease
kitten I typed it backwards…

That’s a 20% change. I don’t understand your simile.

Yes, coming next year, some new skills, new traits, new weapons and old weapons for different classes. When exactly? Noone has an idea, not even ANet :P
As per Colin’s blog, they were going to start deploying these new skills in 2013. So far, we have a new healing skill(anti toxin) and it sounds like we may be getting more healing skills. Who cares about healing skills? They don’t drastically change gameplay. I havent switched out my healing skill on any character since Ive hit 80. We want more utilities, elites, and weapon skills.
Per Jon Peters:
’The reason we went with heal skills first is that we actually believe this is the highest impact area for build diversity.
1) it is a small pool to begin with so adding to it increases choice by a large %
2) it sees a lot of use
3) it heals you which is pretty importantAs time goes on we will also introduce traits, utilities, elites, and potentially other stuff.
Jon’
i roll my eyes every time they mention the words “build diversity”.
I roll my eyes every time I see “Jon Peters”… The shadow of that ranger post… Like my guardian is really going to use the new healing instead of the op 3 seconds block healing…
I agree with op that more skills, or at least more visual effect on using skills, should be added.
Feathered vestments is a debatable piece of your outfit… The exposure of chest and nipples…
OP you think the current class system is not broken enough?
Balance the game before introducing new skills is more important to me.
I believe the main problem is that it creates a TERRIBLE first impression of the game for anybody who begins with a human character. (Which is the plurality choice.) Those champ train folks can get rather nasty in map chat.
Like you are expecting a “f2p” game’s mapchat to be clean?
I don’t mind reading the “nasty” chat—it actually get very entertaining most of the time. Besides, community is not toxic and we all know about it.
and finally people starts debating/complaining about something new?
seems legit
I dont have any troubles in orr.
The OP simply has to look around him/her. It’s your own fault for bumping into a champion boss mob.
If you paid a little attention you could have:
1. Dodge away
2. Run around the champion
You realize the game 5 months ago is not same as now right? Though the drop rate is still horrible as kitten.
I finished it on one and… gosh, I will never do that kitten again. I found racial story more interesting than pact’s(eg. asura infinite ball)
I find your point does not strongly prove that gw2 is p2w(cosmetic). But I read a interesting thread somewhere else and it sounds right to me. I will just drop the link and op here.

“(Since almost all no-sub mmo removed, or does not even have, over-powered cash items, the P2W in my point of view has became how a cash player could save a great amount of time over a free player.)
Am I the only one who is thinking about this? For instance, with the newly introduced sellable agony resistence and increasing rate for gem to gold, a cash player could easily obtain almost all available pve gears(any stats) instantly. There are also many other ways to spend you real money in gw2 to gain a time lead. Due to the low gold-reward rate with the punishment from DR, free players need to spend so long on either grinding dungeons or farming gold in order to achieve the same.
Although I already got what I wanted after excessively and repetitively doing some contents, I really feel bad about the situation that new players will face.”Pay to save time != pay to win. Pay to win has a concrete definition so it does not change with each persons discretion. If you were to argue the cash shop is pay to save time then I would agree but we are arguing if it is pay for a statistical advantage only obtainable through the use of real money. Even if GW2 did offer +5 power on the gem store it isn’t technically pay to win because it can be obtained through in game money as well by converting to gems. Make another thread if you wish to discuss pay to look good or pay to save time but this is discussing pay to win which the game clearly is not.
Side note: the devs stated long ago that they purposefully added gem to gold conversion for people who have more money than time so pay to save time is working as intended
Twerk is in oxford dictionary, that word you use for homosexual does not mean happy anymore, and I don’t know whether we should revise definition of p2w or not.
Quaggan and Kodan for sure.

Always trying, never give up.

WXP will be account bound soon.
Anyone else remember when this same guy was the one that said, this will never happen and there was no plan of doing? Because some of us still do, although it will be a nice update when it happens.
I do remember some dev was saying that but I couldn’t find that thread anymore. I had some really good arguments on it but when I check my thread history yesterday, it’s all gone.
OMG. They finally did it!!! Looks like anet is taking a lot of good steps in the right direction right now
- First the GvG arena: Hooray!
- Account-bound fractal level: Hooray!
- Then they delete the cultural armour from gem store: Hooray!
- Then they decide to make WXP accountbound? Hooray!
The only thing we need now is account-bound ascended gear (swappable between light, med and heavy? :o).
Thank you arenanet! I have faith in you again.
Looking forward to farm buffs!
There are some achievements that can be only done with more than one toon. I happened to level a second toon to lvl 80 and I still need to do more events to get that achievement. Games are meant to kill time. How one kills time should be left up to each player.
Games are mean to practice skills and to have fun with friends… I do not know what get you to thinking you will spend money on something that solely design for wasting your time. You could’ve earn more cash if you work on those hours, and maybe, find a good game that makes you happy by using the extra money you got.
I must say I am happy to see anet is actually making progression. Somehow I could not find that thread which devs denied request of making WXP account bound long time ago. It will be fun to read at this moment.
I will be so kitten ed if they removed the race restriction for cultural armor. I chose female human thief for the sole purpose of looking at that hemisphere. If there is no race restriction, I would’ve chose norn since norn’s breast is the same size as a human’s head.
I was expecting boobs and other mmo armors while I clicked this thread.
I must say that I am not disappointed.
Since you are new, maybe you wouldn’t mind deleting your characters? You can star off fresh on a new server if you do that.
Hmm so Jade Quarry sounds good except I don’t know when people will be on all the time unless it is Oceanic based, if I deleted my character wouldn’t I still have to pay in gems though?
Or wait 7 days?
Blackgate and JQ both have oceanic and european crew. So should be fine for you. You delete all your toon and transfer will be free.
Actually I kinda hope they will do such thing again in the future for cultural armor. Always wanted Asura or Charr T3 for my norn warrior…
Leveling is totally useless imo. People who seek lore will discover them no matter questing exist or not. People who desire end-game will rush through low level content. So what is the point of leveling? To force player spend more time in game.
I don’t know… Leveling was some of my best experiences in GW2. It only really got to be a drag around level 70. But now that I am at end-game I just want to get alts to 80 as fast as possible.
Yeah it was kinda fun for the first toon since everything was new to me. After that I realized it is the same press 1/F and press1/F again like another other mmorpgs out there. After playing so many mmorpgs, I have to say no matter how good the quests are, I hate leveling the most.
Leveling is totally useless imo. People who seek lore will discover them no matter questing exist or not. People who desire end-game will rush through low level content. So what is the point of leveling? To force player spend more time in game.
I can quite honestly say that I’ve never played any sort of RPG that did not involve some sort of leveling. What should they do instead? I’m pretty satisfied by the concept of levels and leveling.
So why not try no leveling at all? It might break the current system and discover something new, right?
I could also guess why you are satisfied with leveling: feel of progression. One thing I need to point out is that the feeling can be obtained from various other activities. If you want to learn how to use the skills, an arena could do the job just fun. If you want to make friends, end-game content will have them waiting for you. If you want story and lore, doing it without such leveling system will yield the same result. This is why I don’t really see the point of have leveling system at all.
Someone mentioned EVE system for progression above, and I don’t really like it that much. Although the idea behind such skill tree is good, investing real time is just another way to “negatively” make players spend more time in the game(I do love using small ships that could have a big impact, but sometime I just feel size does matter and want to cruise a Battleship/Dreadnought in Jita).
I know that people see leveling as a common sense for mmo and I totally understand it since I am also a “victim” from WoW. My point actually is: if a mmo is immersive and interesting, it could do just well without such leveling mechanism.

slow clap I finally see progression from anet. What about that precursor scavenge hunt and advertised “farm-free”?
You should submit a ticket, chances are customer service will be more than happy to help you out (:
Thanks!
Will do.
It seems that ANET is a generous and good company too.
I don’t know where you got that illusion. I purchased a digital deluxe back then and if they are truely generous and good, why not make it available to all previous players?
No, Trahearne is a good character compared to Scarlet.
QFT.
Actually, the funny thing is that Trahearne is a good character in general (IMO). It’s just that Anet’s presentation of him has been incredibly lackluster.
His antisocial, dull nature is to be expected of a character who has lived alone in Orr for years on end and who is considered a social outcast among most of his peers in the Grove.
It is natural that the Vigil would desire to recruit him, as he obtained valuable knowledge of the undead from his years of study. With training, he would no doubt make a superb tactician.
Is is natural that the Priory would revere him; he is Tyria’s foremost scholar on Orr and (arguably) the boldest scholar in Tyria.
It is natural that the Order of Whispers would not only desire his information but would also respect the natural gift of stealth that Trahearne would have needed to have in order to survive alone in Orr for decades.
With these things in mind, Trahearne’s character comes across as the perfect fit for the role that he has been given. Unfortunately, he is introduced so late and in such a lackluster fashion that he comes across as a pointless, show-stealing Marty Stu.
If Trahearne had been introduced early – in both the game and in the novels – he could have had more potential for characterization. Really, his biggest issue is that he never develops. He just kind of immediately steps into the shoes of Pact Marshall without having to learn advanced tactics. He immediately earns the player’s loyalty and friendship without really earning it. He never learns how to socialize (or even lose his monotone) despite occupying a position of command. Basically – he immediately does things that should require multiple story missions to develop.
Character development is more difficult than characterization – and this applies double to the MMO genre. As such, it’s rather easy to understand why Trahearne suffers from this developmental failure.
Scarlet’s problem, on the other hand, is that she is a legitimate Mary Sue who naturally excels at everything for no discernible reason. Trahearne earned his knowledge through years of study and survival. Scarlet just somehow managed to breeze through schools designed for Asura. Trahearne demonstrated the qualities and possessed the knowledge that the Pact organizations needed to face Zhaitan. Scarlet commands her underlings because… because she’ll kill them all, or something. Scarlet is just sorely lacking in terms of both development and in core characterization – she does things for teh evulz with no clear motivation or explanation.
I will comprehend that “QFT” as “quit kittening trolling”.
Trahearne does not even stand out in the whole storyline for me. All I could remember was that Tybalt Leftpaw sacrifice himself for his best friend and a useless commander. What happened to that commander? I don’t know—I was busy fighting cc-chain orrians.
Leveling is totally useless imo. People who seek lore will discover them no matter questing exist or not. People who desire end-game will rush through low level content. So what is the point of leveling? To force player spend more time in game.
Crafting….did that once. I’d rather never do it again.
As a person who has 6 level 80 toons, I have to appreciate how crafting greatly saved my time.
This would be horrible. You basically want to not have to play the game.
The game is not equal to the end game, it encompasses everything that happens before. They aren’t going to let you bypass all of that really good content just because you are so ridiculously lazy that you can’t fathom taking a couple of days to level a character up to 80 and actually be a part of the game world…
The account bound pve experience is a good idea. I understand your point and you should reword it to “different race has different personaly story” to make it less offensive and more reasonable.
Mesmer. Have to say I really like the flower backslot item.
Oh I didn’t see this post while I was posting mine… I guess I will just copy and paste my content here:
To Tyria Officials,
You provide an example of the “Guild Wars 2 Oath” for the recent “Great Migration” campaign, and I found part of it is offensive and misleading. The example are shown below:
“I, Lord Bunnyman, renounce boring games and pledge allegiance to Guild Wars 2. I likewise declare my freedom from unjust subscription fees! That I turn my back forever on grind which is/are totally lame. That I will take up arms to defend the innocent and crush evil with my huge sword. I take this oath to Guild Wars 2 freely, without reservation because I am awesome.”
Please notice that part that mentioned how lame grind is. As far as I know, gw2 is not grind-free and it might even be on the list of “mmorpgs with most serious grind”. Although this only serve as an example, namely an idea to show how to word it, it is misleading to some extent.
I feel offended since I migrated to Tyria hoping for a grind-free place, as advertised by Tyria land owners, at the very beginning. After an year-long experience dealing with Tyria’s officials and Tyria itself, I have to say that my experience is very disappointing regarding the grind. I paid for the visa to Tyria back then, and only if I knew this place will not live to my expectation, I would not have to abandon my family so that I can move here.
I, as a current resident of Tyria, would like to see the grind part get replace with other aspect of this game , for I know that the truth behind this propaganda is not as describe. I do welcome new comers and will help them settle with all my strenght. But fooling potential immigrants is the last thing you want to do as land owner. I hope you could reconsider the situation in order to possibly retain you reputation in the hearts of new-comers.
Sincerely,
A humble resident

TL;DR
Anet need more money and Flamekissed armor will help the situation.
(at least op and second post did think spend money on it is reasonable)
In case some one do not know what Great Migration is: http://migration.guildwars2.com/en/

Teamwork… and all these kids shouting “40K!!!!!!!” everywhere.
What a brilliant community! Yet, developers somehow still do not understand what players want.
Also, please invent a tool that can modify players’ achievement as soon as possible. Some achievements are not fun and I do not want to do it again due to your server crash or buggy event.
At first, I thought this is a farm-free game like what you guys advertised. But after about a good year long serious playing experience, I must say this game is just simply not rewarding, or I should say this game is just a grind feast like other F2P mmo out there. The farm is even worse than TERA and gold-farming games like Spiral Knights, which, at least, I can see what I am going to get from 2 hours of farming. I agree that this is what players will get when the devs decide to use RNG system. But what really disturbs me is that the game is all about big numbers: 100,000 damage seems a bit off, but 1/100,000 of getting something is just totally wrong.
Three of the most annoying things developers have done to me are: Ninja nerf on heavy loot bags, mechanism change for dungeon tokens, and Diminishing Returns. I feel like I have invested so much of my time in the game but I got nothing in return. How does this make your Living World a engaging content without any reasonable reward? Please do not being up things like “achievement chest for living story”, don’t you already knew that your achievements are mostly about pressing either F or 1 multiple times? I have witness less than 15 exotic equipment drops to me during my year-long experience, and one of them, due to server crash, never got retrieved. I played like 10+ hours a day back then: wvw, dungeons, and occasionally Orr farming. Now you tell me whether your game is rewarding or not.
On the other hand, I do acknowledge that you guys did some good stuff like buffing the badge drop in wvw.
At least I won’t buy it.
No more NCSoft for me.
Finally someone speaks for me! Guardian Wars 2 is a good game
you realize this game is b2p not f2p right?
i believe you mean sub2p?
