Even though they can get conditions. I am not talking about like.. a weapon rack. I mean things like.. the boss in Twilight Arbor explore. the tree. Can anyone verify or debunk this?
I love the sword skills so i have optimized bleed.
Yes, bleed is awesome in PvE.
And i do not use any sigil that optimizes bleed. And i do not use offhand sword. sigils of restoration and of blood for survivabilty. I still do an insane amount of bleed damage.
Knights armor, lionguards weapons, Coral upgrades and coral jewelry.
Sword/horn and the swap slot is rifle with agony I think.
traits:
5
30 (I, III, VIII)
15 (I)
20 (VI, IX)
0All signets and i hardly ever pop them except for rage and that only out of combat.
try it, you may be surprised
This is interesting as I have been told by many warriors who seem to be knowledgeable about the class that all signets is for leveling up and that is all. This thread has made me a bit confused. So the only thing that helps the warrior bleeds at the moment is the trait. The sigils and runes are not working correctly at the moment?
I was dabbling with the idea of using a sword/axe or sword/mace (shield for tougher fights). Currently, I am running a build focused around Axe/Shield. So far I have not found anything to be better than the axe main hand. It has really nice 4 stack of vulnerability and the auto attack is massive. The toss axe is good for stopping runners though in PvE, it is mostly useless.
Is there a way to make the sword bleed damage be comparable to the direct damage of the axe auto attack?
I am the Soundless. The Pale Tree is content to force it’s children into lives not of their own choosing. Destiny is forced upon you, pleasures stripped from you. The Nightmare Court strays far.. much too far from the dream. Uncaring for who is hurt, be it innocent or not. The ends do not justify our means. The Sylvari are still very young in this world.. Let us learn from the older races of Tyria before we try to change the path of the world. I am the soundless. Peace. Coexist. Knowledge unswayed by emotion.
!PvE player warning!
I leveled an engi at release up to level 50 then I rerolled a new class. Simply because I was disappointed that using the Flamethrower 90% of the time was gimping myself for the sake of the “cool” factor.
So now, is it safe for me to come back and use primarily the Flamethrower (and not gimp myself by doing so)? When I say primarily, I mean not having to switch out of the flamethrower every engagement no matter if it is a normal mob or a boss.
The true answer is Yes.
The Realistic answer is No.
The drop rate for them is so low that getting yellows is common in comparison.
The official wiki on the Sylvari briefly talk about the Pale Tree being over a grave of humans which is why the Sylvari take on the forms and characteristics of humans (like the act of human reproductive organs etc). Though my question is a bit more than that though they’re some spoilers.
Then how come the other Sylvari located from the other Tree look like that too. The other tree I refer to is where Malyk is from in the story “Where life goes, so too, should you” path.
The ranger has many damaging skills, though it requires thinking and quick action. Being able to micro manage is a plus. A lot of our skills come from combos that we (as rangers) set up ourselves and need no additional help. I guess if you are leveling by auto attacking and nothing else, of course you will be bored. Use your combos! It is fun, engaging, makes game play more active.
Also, I completely disagree with you about the melee weapons. Sword, Dagger, Axe and Greatsword play absolutely NOTHING like any other class. Maybe you could make the argument for two other classes, like Hammer guardian and hammer warrior are somewhat similar in a way.. but the axe, dagger, sword and greatsword on a ranger are completely different.
I want to make an engineer, and the only reason why is because I want to use the flamethrower and nothing else. On one hand, yes I like the way it looks.. but on the other, I do not want to purposely play something that is underpowered for the sake of looks. So my question is: Can I make an engi who uses the flamethrower the majority of the time? Is that play style going out the way to use something I like because it is incredibly weak compared to everything else?
I understand how wiki sourcing works. If you’ve ever used a wiki before then you’ll know that the majority of the time, information from different sources can be contradictory, and that it’s up to the wiki users to determine how best to interpret the varying sources to give the best presentation of the information, which isn’t always the most factual or accurate.
In this case the fact that the wiki sources are in tandem is irrelevant to the wiki’s overall credibility, and is 100% in tandem with my statement that people should use the wiki’s sources rather than the wiki itself if they need a concrete, trustworthy basis with which to form their opinions. A wiki is by its very nature a second-hand source — second-hand sources are always inferior to and less trustworthy than primary sources.

Sorry, I don’t know what to tell you. At this point it feels like you are just going out of your way to feel that anything wiki tells you, you are going to question. That isn’t wrong and I actually commend you on the hard work and strive for facts.. but just be careful you don’t end up like, or sounding like a conspiracy theorist.
Link:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sylvari“The Pale Tree took nourishment from that soil, and therefore, the sylvari are predisposed to be shaped in a humanoid manner.”
Taken directly from the wiki, so it is considered Lore. Also, be sure you are not confused in the difference between the meanings of both words ‘Theory’ and ‘Hypothesis’.
I can edit the wiki to say that the norn all have a vestigial organ located between the liver and stomach called the squippo that, at one point in time, allowed them to get drunk off of water at will. I could also write up about how this no longer functions to explain why norn drink so much brew now.
Since it’d be on the wiki, would it then be considered canonical and a part of the lore, at least until it’s removed by the wiki team?
No, because wikis aren’t reliable sources of lore regardless of how well-maintained they are. The fact that it’s on the wiki just means that the majority of the wiki’s editors believe it to be relevant and factual enough to present.
Additionally, that line is not on the wiki.
If you edited the wiki in a matter of hours they’d send you a email telling you that your information wasn’t contributing, wasn’t cited and was wrong followed by a warning that if you do it again they’ll IP ban you.
Point being, yes you can screw with wiki but wiki can also screw with you.
I understand that. Point being that the wiki by its very nature isn’t a reliable source. The primary sources it pulls information are.
A wiki of any variety on any subject is a collective interpretation of information drawn from multiple sources and from multiple people. It’s an accepted standard. That’s it. When there’s primary sources available there’s no need to rely on the collective’s interpretation.
Wiki information is an extremely reliable source if you understand how wiki’s in general work. It seems that you do not (I am not trying to bash you, I am just saying what I think is the problem). So I will tell you how the wiki works in case you don’t or for anyone who may not know and would like to find out.
In Wiki’s, you will see little numbers or symbols (most of the time, it is numbers) at the end of sentences, paragraphs and/or entire segments. This means that this part of the wiki has been reviewed and the source of the information has been verified and it is good for the public to take as truth. Clicking the number will take you to the bottom of the page where you can see the source. In this case of the Sylvari, you can see that it has been confirmed as truth by the following sources:
– - Ree Soesbee; An ArenaNet employee in charge of continuity and lore.
– - Kristen Perry; An ArenaNet employee that is a character artist.
Now, onto what you were saying. yes, you are correct that anyone can simply edit any wiki page that they feel like and add in some radical information. Though, doing so, it will not have been verified. Because of this, instead of a number giving you the source of the information and the assurance that it can be held as truth, it will simply say [citation needed]. In which case it is obvious that this part of the wiki has not been verified and a valid source for this information can not be found. Therefor, leading it to not being able to be held as truth.
I hope this clears things up
Is there any way to avoid the ninja-skip? Doing CoE Alpha fight in path 2 and 3 where you have to dodge is kind of lame when the ninja skip comes out.
For the head (because awesome Sylvari):
-Wintersky (main)
-Blueberry (sub)
-Starry Night (sub)
For the rest of the body:
-Iron (main)
-Illumination (sub)
-Camel (sub)
I agree, RNG type abilities in MMO’s are bad. RNG traits in GW2 is even worse. As it stands right now:
You strike your opponent.
-You may or may not crit your opponent
– -If you crit; you may or may not proc glacial heart.
– - -If you crit and you are supposed to proc glacial heart, it may or may not be off the 45 sec cooldown.
That’s just too many barriers set up to stop the trait from being useful. Even if the cd was cut down to 30 sec it would still be too much. Though you have some good ideas with the original post, I wouldn’t like more traits that are based off of RNG “what if’s”
*EDIT: The reason why I said RNG in gw2 is even worse is because of the highly active combat. Dodging and avoiding projectiles and melee etc. Active combat just clashes horribly with RNG skills.

Question:
—While using the mace as a weapon and having the trait “Writ of the Merciful” (All symbols heal allies), does mace skill #2 give direct healing as well as the regen buff it normally grants?
Well, the way I came up with naming my Sylvari was to take a broad genus name of a plant and add on a noun that either goes with or contradicts your character’s personality. I can give my character’s name as an example. It would be “Aster Proud”.
Or does a GOOD spirit weapon build rely on having high crit/cond damage or some other factor?
My current gear is pretty much all Pow, Tough, Vit from head to toe with 6/6 Rune of Soldier. (which will change since no shouts in a SW build obviously heh)
I love the classes that can be built up to have almost comically ridiculous defense. I already have a lvl 80 Guardian exactly where I want it. I am looking to roll an alt now, but I want to know which other class comes the closest to being able to spec super defensive?
Last time I tried to do this, it was bugged and there was no way to complete this. Not sure if it was fixed and I seen no threads about it (or maybe I am not good at finding them?)
I can confirm this. This happened to me just now. I was going to post this but thankfully you already did.
I just find many peoples tone here a bit alarming. I heard the general statement “It doesn’t effect the rest of us (or majority of us) so the victims of the natural disaster shouldn’t get any special treatment.”
Now, A-net has already said that they plan to not extend it and that is fine. But the wording used in the statements lead me to believe that is how some of these people think about everything. There was even a person(s) who cheered on the storm. The worst part about all of this is that if something was to happen to one of these people they would probably cry and scream about why everyone is not completely focused on them.
This thread was just simply asking a question of whether or not there was any plans on extending it.. not a demanding thread. Yet, the people I have described came in here with that type of poison. Ridiculous.
I side with keep the clocktower the way it is. Just because something is difficult, whether it is practical or impractical (whatever that means, I just see people saying this) doesn’t mean the content is not fun. Just take that game “Demon Souls” for example. It is universally accepted that it is one of the most difficult games around with both practical and impractical deaths. Meaning there are parts of the game where you would die and the only way you could possibly know to avoid something is by experiencing it by death the first time (or you play with the online mode on and someone leaves you a message). But the point being, it is also universally accepted as a very, very good game strictly because of how hard it is.
Looking for a spirit weapon build. (post all of the guardian changes)
in Guardian

Not sure if the guardian changes effected the spirit weapon specs, I know that the Greatsword change did, as it kind of effected the entire trait line. Anyway, looking for a build that maximizes the Spirit Weapons.
Also, if you don’t mind going into what you stats are on your armor and stuff.
I already have the hammer with the stats I want on it, now I just need to find a hammer that has the skin of a hammer that is massive. Then I can just stat swap. Anyone know of a Giant Hammer?

Unless you are part of the RP community, the names of other characters shouldn’t bother you at all. In fact, there is no official RP server, so as long as they follow the general naming policy by A-Net, there shouldn’t be a problem at all.
I would really like it if you added in the sub-forums for individual servers. So much can be accomplished by having the ability to make a post directed toward the audience of the people that play on your specific server. Thank you!
I ran into a quest where a Sylvari had no idea what the Pale Tree was. I forgot the exact quest, but it made me think.
Yup. The first time you do any path in any dungeon each day (regardless of whether you’ve done other dungeons or other paths in the same dungeon) you will get 60 tokens. The second time you do any path in the same day you will only get 20 tokens.
This isn’t true. You can do AC path 1, get 60 tokens. AC path 2, get 60 tokens and then AC path 3 and get 60 tokens giving you a total of 180 tokens for back to back runs.
The only reason I ask for TA is because 2 people told me that no matter what path I take differently whether it is U/U… U/F… F/U… F/F, the first I will get 60 and the second I will get 20.
After doing one run.. lets say up/up. a second run of say forward/forward would yield another 60 tokens or no?
You should try Sword/Focus. You sound a bit like me. You enjoy the defensive tanky style of play but after a whole mess of levels playing that way, maybe a little more offense couldn’t hurt. Sword and focus lets you have an offensive style of gaming, quick moving with Sword’s #2 teleport and a little bursting with sword #3.
All in all, sword is a good choice for the feeling you have right now. Want some more offense, but would like to stay defensive over-all.
Sword
— #1 hits kind of hard, with the third attack doing triple damage.
-- #2 can teleport (600 range on it) and blinds your target.
— #3 feels bursty and can also block incoming ranged attacks
Coupled with the focus means you get 2 blinds, 2 dodges, health regen, ranged block, and a 3 hit absorb block. very defensive and offensive at the same time.
so far with every patch that has come out, I seen nothing but nerfs for the Guardian. Does that mean they are overpowered or something? I don’t remember feeling very OP.
So I normally just craft all my gear since level 10. Ever 5 – 10 levels I craft a whole new set of armor and I am happy. After level 55 (or was it 60?) the Toughness/Vitality armor set known as “Hearty” just disappears and we are left with different choices like “Knight’s/Cleric’s/Carrion’s/Explorer’s” etc… Though I noticed none of these armors has Toughness and Vitality. Do any armor types exist that have Toughness Vitality on them between 60 – 80? If so, are they craftable?
Guardians aren’t just about spamming abilities that “negate the next hit”. There are plenty of boons in which if you took them away from the Guardian he would be hurting. Guardians often have a protection buff up (-33% of all inc damage), they also usually always have some kind of Regen going as well (not counting their virtue regen).
Simply “Go, Go, Go!” would be wonderful rather than a desperation call. Because, that is what retreat means. it means you have lost all hope in securing this area so you must fall back and regroup or flee for safety.
okay, so Aegis lasts for what… 9 hours I think? You can’t have a buff like that stack. Just keep hitting the virtue on cooldown. 90 sec.. you have 9 hours to stack a ridiculous amount and go solo a Dragon. Something like that happened in WoW vanilla a long time ago. I can’t remember what the skill was, but Pallies had a way to keep stacking a damage multiplyer type of buff. And there were (maybe still are) videos of pallies killing Lord Kazzak (big bad world boss) in 1 hit of an auto attack.
I am just trying to get up to 40 so I can unlock the second tier in my traits. I am sure it will be all downhill from there. But until then, what should I do to cure my blues? Right now I am just a Guardian that is specced for 10 Zeal, 10 Radiance and Armor stats are all over the place trying to fill in the gaps a bit.
I am definitely not giving up at all, but if anyone has any suggestions to make things feel a little easier, please share them!
You seem a little low on crit, I built power precision, items with the “strong” prefix up to level 60 where I changed to a mixture of knights and berserker with emerald gems
1) regear to strong and you will feel more like a cannon
2) fill your accessoray slots if they are not already. Earrings and rings are not expensive from the trade post
3) get rid of your daggers, they are sub par for leveling. Use sword pistol for pistol whip and all default attacks doing aoe/applying weakness which will make you take less damage. You can also use 5 to almost perma blind enemies.
4) get haste in your bar, Its amazing for taking out nasty pulls
5) Use Signet of malice as your heal
6) Always eat food that gives you health regen while leveling. The lowest level one is called banana cream pie
7) put 5 points in shadow arts to get last refuge… this will stealth you in sticky situations giving the choice to re-engage or run away.
Actually, the lowest level food that gives you “Gain Health Every Second” is Apple Tart. It is usable at level 5.
The reason is because of utility. Think of the “health pool” as a gas tank for a car. We’ll say Car (A) is a warrior and Car (B) is a Guardian. Now, at first glance, most people will notice that Car (A) has a gas tank that can hold up to 35 gallons of gas, while Car (B) can only hold up to 12.
But then, upon doing some more research, you start reading how Car (B) has tricks it can do.. things like a button you push to make it operate at it’s full ability but only consume half the gas. Sometimes it can offer you one or two miles without consuming any gas at all! And it even has the ability to artificially create it’s own gas within itself giving you more instead of consuming.
Well if you are absolutely sick of what you are currently going through, I can tell you that an Engineer brings a whole lot to the group. Everything from heals, damage, AoE’s, Buffs, Debuffs, group stealth and more. They really are the staple of team play.
I was browsing some of the data collection sites (like GWhead) and noticed that there are recipes that allow a chef to lay down a Tray of Food for all friends to eat from and gain a buff, much like the feasts in other MMO’s. Does this exist in GW2? If so, how do I go about obtaining the recipes? I have many chocolate Chip cookies waiting to be put on a tray!
