1. Why were Necromancers given fire, when Rangers still have little more than crappy bleeds?
Rangers already have access to every single condition currently in the game.
I should have been more specific. Rangers are supposedly the “masters of ranged combat”. They’re not. Ranger bows, which should be their gimmick weapon, have bleeds and weakness. And everyone (okay, except for Guardians) is throwing bleeds out every other second which makes it almost useless when there’s more than two people fighting the same target.
I think that each class should have a selection of specific Conditions available only to them, depending on traits and weapon selection. That would go a HUGE way towards build diversity and while they might not fix the issues with Condition stacking they would alleviate the issue immensely.
1. Why were Necromancers given fire, when Rangers still have little more than crappy bleeds?
2. Torment. I’m all for adding new stuff, but this is just wrong for a game that spruiks it’s lack of a trinity. Since most builds can only heal themselves once every 30-ish seconds, a Condition that removes what is, effectively, their primary means of damage mitigation is a bad move. But that’s nothing compared to the storm that’s coming to the forums. Of all the classes to give Torment to, it was Mesmers and thieves? REALLY?? Mobility is the only defence many builds have against Thieves and Mesmers will now be able to damage us when we use a skill and when we move, which of course means we have to stand there and take it… which would be good if GW2 had tanks.
If anyone should have a new Condition named Torment, regardless of what it does, it’s Necromancers. The mechanics of Torment also fit the Ranger perfectly since it is an age-old hunting technique to injure something and then chase it until it dies of exhaustion.
EDIT: Now that I think of it, Torment should have been a Death Shroud exclusive Condition.

Vuvuzela Tyria-style.
Some of the titles betray that there were meant to be more of them to begin with, but they were removed for some reason. Most (all?) of the WvW titles are Ultimate Xxxx, but there is no earlier title – Ultimate Dominator may as well simply be Dominator. Compare this with the PvP Leaderboard titles that go Challenger>Soldier>Veteran>Master>Legend, which is how titles usually work in games.
There are plenty of titles in the game. I’ve gotten somewhere between 10-15 since launch. How many do you need? 100?
I agree. I really don’t see the need to flaunt new titles that show off your accomplishments anyway. I mean, how many people are actually going to stop the questing they’re doing and think to themselves, “Hey, that’s a nice title that guy has. I’d like to have one myself to show off.”
Actually, you might be surprised how often people do ask where you got a title from.
The primary reason why we need more titles is the fact that so many people use the same ones. Walk through LA and count the different titles people are displaying. I’m willing to bet that most people will have “Been there. Done that”, “Emissary of the Mad King” (or “Master Carver”) and either “Southsun Stalwart” or “Avenger of the Dispossessed” are the most common.
One of the main problems with titles is that, with a few exceptions, they fall into one of three categories: 1) seasonal/Living Story titles 2) Basic titles that everyone can get within a couple of hours of first logging in or 3) overly grindy, incredibly difficult to obtain (in some cases seemingly impossible), titles.
We don’t even have basic titles like Guild Member/Officer, or Vigil/Priory/OoW member.
Is it a priority? No, it’s not. But it is one of those things that allows players to customise their characters and serves to add variety to places like Lion’s Arch.
And to address xCrusadentx: Yes, 100 titles is better than 25 because then you will see much fewer cases of people wandering around with the same one.

Pencil is a bad word?
We learned some new things against JQ and BG last week. Mostly we learned that our server is mostly fairweathers.
i don’t underastand how you can expect anything else with being the new bandwagon server. it has been the case with every other bandwagon server as soon as the easy wins stop the new people don’t show up anymore. why did you think this wasnt the case with db to make this some sort of suprise?
It’s interesting because DB received all of its transfers when the “easy” wins stopped. Since we moved to T2, we had one week I would consider easy; the rest have all been hard fought, excepting last week when we were soundly trounced.
Do you have another theory for us?
I have a theory…..
Shame I couildn’t find a better quality one.
LOL @ the guy named Tony Stark Ironman wearing light armour.
There was a similar situation in LotRO a few years ago, except it wasn’t an item it was a NPC that had been there for years. There was a named chicken in one area with a name something along the lines of "Fitta"* which is perfectly fine if you’re English, but not if you’re Swedish(?) because it’s the direct equivalent of “the C word”. It was discovered when a father was playing the game with his 9 year-old son and the kid burst out laughing. He had a good laugh about it too, because he was an adult and knew that different words have different meanings in different languages, but still felt it needed to be brought to Turbine’s attention.
*I had to look it up on an online dictionary. I thought the name was Clucka so it might not have been Swedish.
I like it. Not only is it a much needed change, it actually makes sense since one can argue that dust is just dried ectoplasm anyway.
It would actually make sense if all rare/exotic items had a chance to drop Fine mat’s of every tier, since they’re in the item anyway. This is especially true when you consider that, in many cases, it costs more Fine mat’s to make a rare/exotic than any other material.
I don’t mean give us a 50/50 chance to get back all of the Fine mat that went into something. Maybe a 15% chance to get back 1-5 fine mat’s based on the level of the item. Since I’m sure that making it so that the specific mat from the specific title (blood from berserker for example) would take more work, just make it a random Fine material. Not enough to make a real profit, but enough so that you get a bonus every now and then.
EDIT: The price of t6 dust had very little, if anything, to do with the Lyssa nerf. In a single day/patch a huge number of people went from farming Orr events to farming Southsun events. Even if the drop rate of Karka Shells hadn’t been increased, we would have seen a corresponding lowering of their prices. In fact, the price of t6 dust was rising even before Lyssa was nerfed.

Convert it to gold to be used for Legendary weapons.
This.
Well, that’ll get you half way there… maybe.
Can we stop with this DragonWagon crap?
1. Dragonbrand was going to t2 well before we got any of these new guild transfers. Saying that we got to t2 on the backs of transfers is absolutely false.
2. Both BG and JQ were “bandwagon” servers in the past. I was there on the night in September or October when BG got it’s EU guilds and turned a 40k deficit against DB into a 40k win, before shooting up the rankings. You’re both pots calling the kettle black.
3. Has it not occurred to any of you that the guilds that came to DB were sick to death of having the same fights over and over and over again, and that they came here for some variety? Variety they have had in spades.
4. If you had ex-guildies come into the t1 thread in the past bragging about how DB is coming to t1 to roflstomp you then that’s between you and them. Leave the rest of us out of it. It should be noted that there has been at least one JQ player trolling the match-up threads of DB.
5. Just get over it and enjoy the match… at least you don’t have to put up with the Maguuma forum warriors (yet).
No. Never. Never ever. This is tantamount to saying “I don’t want to play the game”.
If you want an Asura then make a new Asura and make different choices in your story than you did last time.
BTW, roll-play is what you do when PvP consists of rolling dice and performing Strength and Dexterity checks against your opponent instead of actually using the game engine. Role play is when you play the role of a character in an imaginary world.
Define “not spawning”.
I am almost constantly seeing people standing around at steampipe asking when the Queen will spawn, and more than a few wondering if it’s bugged, while a handful of people are trying to do the events to trigger it.
If you don’t do the events, and hold the camps, she won’t spawn. She also won’t spawn twice in 60 minutes.
Am I missing something here? You can’t enter WvW while guesting, so why is it assumed to be about WvW? The most obvious answer, to me, is that the player is in a dungeon on a different server (either guesting or joining a party with people from other servers).
[DE] – German server
[D] – Guesting and in a dungeon or not guesting, but in a dungeon hosted on another server.
And i didn t even care, what really ruined all was putting legendary as a tier.
Unless something has changed, Legendaries have identical stat’s as Exotics. Ascended is a tier, Legendary is a skin.
This isn’t directed at anyone in particular, but I find it amusing how often people complain that ANet promised no grinding for gear and use Legendaries as their proof. There is NO grinding for BiS weapons and armour in GW2. There is optional grinding for BiS jewellery. The only BiS item that requires grinding is the Backpiece, and even that is minor. Legendary skins require grinding, but they are entirely optional.
So what? Nobody said it was a perfect solution, but since you bring it up anyway… It is highly likely that the price of Legendaries would drop since the people that want the title would be buying mat’s instead of the ready-made weapon.
omg.
It’s a simple quest. Gather 5 people in your server and you could finish it. I’m pretty sure you’re not the only one wanting to run CoF.
And here are the first to arrive…
Did you not hear me. I DONT WANT TO DO THE EVENT, which takes longer than the dungeon to complete, I WANT TO RUN THE DUNGEON….
Fixred that for you.
so ppl now want to be openly recognized for having the luck to have a precursor drop for them?
No, they don’t. They want a title they can display so that people will stop thinking of them as wallet warriors that bought a Legendary with daddy’s credit card. It’s not about bragging rights, it’s about some way to say “no, I didn’t use a credit card. I actually worked hard to get this, so kitten”.
It’s also about the profound lack of titles available in GW2.
If for example… this game were to make people who chose avatars of certain skin shades have a max level lower than others, or weaker stats, or not allowed to join guilds… that would be real world racism.
By that definition, playing Dungeons & Dragons, which has all of the things you listed and more, is real world racism.
Can you explain, in three sentences or less, the reasons that certain real world people go to war? No, you can’t (and if you think you can then you’re a fool), but in fantasy games you can. Racism is shorthand for other things. Rather than explaining every little detail that has gone into one group being suspicious of another, it’s simpler just to use racism.
As much as many people don’t want to hear it, “racism” is a natural thing, and is especially prevalent when conflict is involved. Just ask any veteran of Vietnam or WWII: they didn’t spend decades of their lives loathing the Vietnamese and Japanese because of cartoons of bucktoothed apes waving a rising sun flag, they hated them because they were brutally slaughtering each other. Look at how many people perceive Muslims in the West. The actions of the some (whether few or many) are attributed to the entirety of an ethnic group.
As an aside, I’ve spent the last couple of days playing a fantastic indie game (with an awful title) called Expeditions Conquistador. It’s an RPG that starts in 1518 and you are leading a group of Conquistadors to conquer the New World. You can follow Cortes’ path and brutally conquer with the aid of allies, you can choose to go it alone and slaughter everyone in your path or you can make your way peacefully through Mexico. Among the character traits that some of your people may have is Racist. Racist characters consider the natives as inferiors to be slaughtered and being nice to the Aztecs displeases them a lot. There’s also a skill called Sexist, and not only can you choose to have slaves (and treat them as kindly or harshly as you wish), you also participate in a rebellion on Hispaniola which is partly (allegedly) about freeing the slaves. It’s quite a dark game, and very well written, but if people were afraid of racism, sexism and slavery, you know, historical accuracy, things like this would never get made.
Fear of racism is just as bad as racism itself.
Dragonbrand has a lot of Aussies and Kiwis.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Southsun.
An hour after reset there was a queue to get into Southsun and no queues to get into any WvW map. There is a 50/50 chance that you will end up in Southsun overflow any time you head there, regardless of the time of day, and in my experience you will be in overflow for anything from 20 minutes to three hours.
What is in Southsun? A full-sized zerg farming Instigators. I have yet to go into Southsun without seeing people I often see in WvW participating in the farming. If they are in Southsun they are not in WvW, simple as that.
You can go on about “burnout” and “fairweathers” all you like but the timing is suspicious, don’t you think? One week DB has queues on 3/4 WvW maps and is winning the match and the next week new content is released which includes a huge MF buff and a very lucrative farm and there’s suddenly no WvW queues and DB is losing.
(edited by Sokar Rostau.7316)
Remember, ANet have already shown a willingness to balance things like this. Back in October, Butter and Chocolate were worth less than BLTC chests, and a few other mat’s were worth nothing as well. They introduced temporary Mystic Forge recipes that essentially emptied the market… and now that Butter is worth 40c a piece.
Human Ranger 80
Human Necromancer 80
Charr Guardian 80
Salad Sylvari Elementalist 48(?)
All this talk of queues is kind of meaningless at the moment. The Southsun event is clearly having an impact on WvW numbers.
I just got my first lvl in WvW since the patch.
1st chest: Green Boots
2nd chest: Shield of the Six
I haven’t done the dungeon yet so this is an honest question. Are you implying that this new dungeon is “Zerk Warriors ONLY!” material? In the same way that CoF p1 is perfectly fine with any group, but a certain segment of the playerbase demands 4 Zerk War + Mes ONLY groups because it is “more efficient”? If so, that’s an extremely poor choice in dungeon design… Is there even a point to having anything other than Berserker gear if this is the path we’re headed?
Players were exploiting it by deleting and remaking characters, so we made it based on your entire account.
Edit:
Due to the reward being so high, and the upscaling for the living world, this was seen as being bad.My curiosity’s too high to remain silent anymore:
It’s implicit now that you have a certain limit to the amount of gold per hour we can collect by playing Guild Wars 2.
Shelter/Penitent camp was overhauled =>less gold per hour
Ascalon Catacombs was overhauled =>less gold per hour
Citadel of Flame Path 1 is yet to be overhauled => 7-10g/h
Southsun Cove via this month’s event overpopulation + settler buff => MF gear users have viable alternative to CoF P1.
With Super Adv Box we could do the same as this yet it never got a 1 per day per account hotfix (BB were account bound granted).
World Bosses / Guesting was overhauled => less gold per hourSo this leads me to the following question, which price tag (gold wise) do you give to karma? Solo farming Canach wasn’t on par with CoF P1 gold-wise, but for me it was the Karma Keg that was the real target. No where in this game as far as I know we could get this much karma this fast. (5000 karma base -> 9750 fully buffed).
If there’s a limit of gold we can’t transcend per hour (or we get called on exploiting), may we please know it? We play the weaknesses of monsters and bosses and reap rewards I get it, I also get it that some players who rather play the Trading Post game do the same but in that interface. Yet it doesn’t seem that they have any limit of gold/hour.
It’s obvious CoF P1 will get overhauled, suprised it hasn’t happened yet. Maybe I ought to play less the normal game and go to finance/economy courses so I can play the TP game.
Just wanted to point out that while the “special” rewards (bonfire for instance) were one shot only deals in F&F, the Karma rewards for Rox and Braham’s dungeons were dailies.
2k karma once per day for 30 days.
5k Karma once ever.
Something is a little off.
Also, I don’t see a real reason for CoF p1 to be “overhauled”. It is extremely tedious and I am quite happy for there to be a single place for people to do this sort of thing. If they want to do that all day then that’s their business, but most people get bored of it and do more interesting things. It comes down to instant gratification – CoF p1 provides a means for people with no patience to get what they want NOW, while the rest of the game provides everyone else with the means to get the same thing over a longer period of time… put another way, some people want to play the game that way and CoF p1 provides them a way to play the game the way they want.

The bikini is “old-timey”. There are mosaics of Roman women wearing bikinis dating back to the the 4th century, and I vaguely remember something about evidence coming from Catal Huyuk in Turkey, which dates to more than 6000 years BCE. You don’t get much more “old-timey” than an 8000 year-old fashion.
They’re also shown wearing bangles and flip flops, for that nice old-timey feel.
No, wait.
One of the Roman women is depicted wearing anklets and an armband…
I realize that everyone has different ideas of what would be cool and such, but for me swimwear in GW2 is a waste of time.
The amount of effort to put swimwear in the game far exceeds it’s practical use. Sure, there are a few people who will buy the outfits and stand on the beach for a laugh, but in reality these “gimmicks” have a short life.
I am also personally against the idea of modern swimwear in the game. Whenever I go to Southsun Cove, and see tourists wearing modern style swim suits, it breaks immersion. It has been said a few times that IF swimwear was to be added, it should be old timey style.
Search for 1900’s – 1920’s swimwear in Google for an idea of what I mean. I think it would better fit the look and feel of GW2.
In the end though, I would like to see them put more effort into proper town clothing, and leave the modern swimsuit to Second Life

yah, this badges of jumping need to have more functionality in game, also, maybe make them drop easier for non-AoE monsters like necros and eles, cuz I surely didnt mind when I was playing my staff ele, but the moment I tried to accomplish something with my guardian….oh boy…
A Guardian with a Staff can do a helluva lot more for a group in WvW than a Guardian with any other weapon. Sure, keep your Great Sword or Hammer or whatever on switch for when you need it, but the Staff is king in ZvZ fights.
I would rather see three new skill bars unlocked for each weapon via Achievements.
Current weapon skills unlocked as per usual.
Second skill bar unlocked at 1000 kills with that weapon.
Third skill bar unlocked with 2000 kills.
Fourth skill bar unlocked at 5000 kills.
Skill bars can only be changed at the traits vendor.
Each skill bar has a different “theme” but equivalent in terms of overall damage. You might have a set of skills that all deal Poison damage, for example, or produce combo’s.
The same events, specifically the so-called “tunnel events”, have been relentlessly farmed since day 1. These other events couldn’t be soloed before and they can’t be soloed now. It has nothing to do with any “buff”, especially since the mobs in Orr were in fact “nerfed” and the “buff” you’re talking about involves changing how events scale for larger number of participants.
And there is a massive difference between a WP being contested for a few minutes while an event is in progress and a WP being permanently closed because there are never enough people to clear it. Actually, that raises another issue – some of these events need to be on a slower timer so that the WPs are open for more than five minutes when they do eventually get cleared.
This wouldn’t be a problem if there were more lvl 80 areas in the world to explore.
You’re missing the point.
There’s one event in Malchor’s Leap, for example, where you are tasked with protecting three Pact engineers as they set up a camp. It is absolutely impossible to solo due to the enormous number of Risen that spawn together with Rotmouths and trebuchets to knock you back and stun you. This also happens to be the site of a WP (Colonnade Waypoint?), which results in it being a permanently contested unless a group comes through.
There’s a similar event near the entrance to Cursed Shore, still in Malchor’s Leap, where you have to protect the three Pact trebuchets from Risen and you are bombarded by six Risen trebuchets. This one is soloable, but it can take an hour or more to complete. Again, there’s a WP here, but unless you’re farming the area, most people simply don’t care about it being contested since the entrance to Cursed Shore is right there.
While both events have a similar premise, and number of enemies to deal with, the former is in a very, very, restricted space which ups the difficulty substantially. They are just two examples of many events in Orr that are not named “Group Events” but require a group to complete, at least in a reasonable time.
I think there needs to be a change in what events are called. Instead of “Events” and “Group Events”, there should be Events that can be soloed, Small Group Events that require a party-sized group to complete and Large Group Events which require a Squad-sized group.
Surprised nobody hasn’t put this one in here yet:
The achievement for jumping into the lava in Southsun is called “The Goggles Do Nothing”.
Two pictures hint at glowing armor. Maybe its a buff of some sort but I have not seen this before.
Legendary armour most likely. People were linking the codes for them in LA chat the other night.
I haven’t seen anyone suggest Kiel as the nemesis… we did meet her during F&F.
lol is this a troll? you seriously saw someone link legendary armor? i check reddit daily i think ida seen this. but if you find me those codes.
They linked Light, Medium and Heavy Legendary Armour, a number of cosmetic items including Hylek, Quaggan and Snow Leopard(?) hoodies and a few other things, including a “sword” that was a message in a bottle. The hoodies seemed a little out of place and more appropriate for winter than this time of year.
Total non-crafting material drops from 25 minutes in Southsun with 254% MF:
1 white Glove
1 white Shoulder
1 blue Helm
1 blue Pants
1 blue Shoulder
2 green Daggers
1 green Staff
1 exotic Jacket
Miniscule sample size, and the exotic was the first I’ve seen in ages, but the numbers seem about average if the exotic is replaced with a rare.

Something just occurred to me about Trahearne. Whether it was planned this way, or just a result of players’ reactions to him… there is a real opportunity for either a major Living Story or even an expansion based on Trahearne.
Now that you’ve had your groan, think about it a second.
The origins of the Pale Tree are obscure. We don’t really know where the seed that Ronan planted actually came from other than that it was found in a cave where the seed was one of many, guarded by hostile plants. The Pale Tree was tended by Ronan and Ventari and apparently absorbed their ideals which are passed on to the Sylvari. But what if that seed had been planted elsewhere?
We know for a fact that there is at least one more Tree out there that has resulted in Sylvari who are disconnected from The Dream/Nightmare of the Pale Tree. What if Ronan’s planting of the seed in that exact spot, and the Tree being tended by Ventari, resulted in something that wasn’t meant to happen? What if Ronan subverted someone’s, or something’s plan? What if the Nightmare is the natural, or intended, state of the Sylvari?
What if the rest of those seeds were planted in one place and allowed to develop… differently? If we assume that the Nightmare is the natural state of the Sylvari then there’s only one answer to this question: you would have an orchard growing an army. But who would need or want an army of plant people, immune to dragon corruption? There’s an answer to that as well – the Jungle Dragon.
What if the Sylvari are the minions of the Jungle Dragon Mordremoth?
How does Trahearne fit into this? Quite simply, he makes a perfect bridging character for a story that progresses from Zhaitan on to Mordremoth. While the Nightmare Court rebel against the Dream, Trahearne may actually be entirely self-aware and acting as a kind of double agent. He is not confused by the Nightmare, nor is he “corrupted” by the Dream, he knows exactly who he is and what his purpose is. It is not a stretch to see Trahearne’s Wyld Hunt, to kill Zhaitan and restore Orr, as a plan of Mordremoth to take out a rival Elder Dragon. He is, after all, the world’s foremost expert on Zhaitan. But let’s go further. As a result of killing Zhaitan, Trahearne is in a place of power and trust in Tyria, in other words, he is in the perfect position. Killing Zhaitan may have been just a ruse to get a minion of Mordremoth into just such a place of influence in preparation for his awakening.
All of these things that people so dislike about Trahearne may not be mistakes afterall – they may be entirely deliberate. Trahearne may turn out to be one of the main antagonists of the first expansion.
(While it would not make sense in the game simply because of the time involved, it’s easy to imagine that, just as the fruit of the Pale Tree are a direct result of where it was planted, planting seeds in Orr would produce exactly the kind of thing that the Jungle Dragon would want.)
You can talk to Rox and Braham at the bonfires in BC and Hoelbrak and the refo’s in LA. This suggests to me that you are supposed to visit all three bonfires to get the full epilogue.
No you can’t. They are gone.
Your point being? If you missed out on doing the epilogue at the appropriate time, then I’m sorry that you missed it but at least you can still get the Achievement.
I think it’s worth pointing out how Flame and Frost started – content that could be completed in a couple of hours, at most, that lasted a full month. If you go back and read what people on the forums were saying back then you’ll find an almost unanimous opinion that this was a terrible way of doing things. Can you imagine if the bonfire, the matching epilogue to the prologue of those refo’s streaming into the cities, lasted for a month?
Anet has to find the “sweet spot”. The release of Southsun wasn’t handled very well at all, and from that experience they learned that a few days is a) far too short a time to do a major event b) the servers cry at that kind of strain and c) as predicted, a lot of people missed out. The prologue for Flame and Frost was mind-numbingly boring but nobody missed out. The second part of F&F was more interesting, and had content to keep people occupied, but a month was still too long. The third part was, most people agree, pretty frakking awesome… but two weeks was absolutely not enough time, at least not for that kind of content. The epilogue was too short by a looong way, but the alternative was worse. And then there’s the other problem, that of development – it takes time to get things done, and the bigger that thing is the longer it will take to do. Anet has to find the balance between all of these things, and part of that balance is having content last an appropriate length of time. Minor content should not last for a month, and major content should not last for a few days.
It’s worth pointing out here, that if you were to do all parts of F&F just once, each of the first three parts would have taken about the same time to complete. In fact, the content that most people perceive to be the biggest part (Molten Furnace) was actually one of the shortest parts. The difference between the three dungeons and the rest of the F&F Living Story is that they were repeatable and repeatably enjoyable.
Just to touch on a different subject for a moment, there is no compelling reason for the three F&F dungeons to be temporary content. The lore of the Mists aside, every single time we do one of the existing dungeons for a second time we are reliving past events (how many times have you stopped Gaheron Baelfire from becoming a god, or thwarted Kudu’s plans?). The F&F story instances even gave us the option to relive conversations. Dungeons need not have a story mode and an explorable mode, you only need to look at the dungeons we have now to see that some paths are almost never run. Even without the mini and backpack (which should count as tempoorary content) as possible rewards, people would still be running MF because it was fun. I haven’t made a Warrior or Mesmer yet, but it would have been fun to take one of them into the Hatchery because it’s something different, instead when I do get around to making them I will be stuck running the same old dungeons and story instances. Making those three dungeons permanent is [i]not[/]i the same as making the entire plot permanent.
People were using codes to link Legendary Armour sets in LA today. May not be Ascended, but will undoubtedly have a bigger grind to acquire. Based on observations made with previous codes, it’s likely that these will be released fairly soon, so you’re going to have something else to worry about before Ascended armour is out there.
You can talk to Rox and Braham at the bonfires in BC and Hoelbrak and the refo’s in LA. This suggests to me that you are supposed to visit all three bonfires to get the full epilogue.
The problem with the Commander tags is that some people who really deserve them cannot afford them, while some people who really don’t have a clue what they are doing have them.
Well, that’s one problem with them, anyway…
I actually think that there should be three tags.
Green “Platoon Commander”:
Allows a squad of 10.
Functions as per the current tag.
Costs 25g
Red “Company Commander”:
Allows a squad of 30
Allows up to three Platoon Commanders to be in the squad
Orders can be given to the entire squad or to the Platoon Commanders.
Costs 50g and 500 Badges. Must have Platoon Commander tag.
Blue “Commanding General”:
Commands the entire map.
Allows a squad of 100.
Allows up to three Company Commanders in the squad. 90 players.
The General has his own Platoon to command to bring the total up to 100.
Can give orders to the Company Commanders as well as the entire map (including those not in the squad).
Costs 100g + 1000 Badges, WvW Rank 20+. Must have Company Commander tag.

Except that one of my guildies ran it 3 times and got the mini. RNG is RNG.
One of my guildies NEVER runs dungeons. Ever. She did Molten Furnace ONCE, to finish the Living Story, and got the mini. The single dungeon she has been in in months and she gets it.
Durian…..tastes like heavenly custard.
Smells like the Risen.
This.
If you don’t know what a durian is, look it up. I’ve heard it described as a gastronomic orgasm that smells like the sweaty socks of a corpse covered in vomit.
This is something that has sort of bothered me for a while now… not in a bad way, just in a “I must know it” way.
Skritt have a kind of “hive mind” in that when they are alone they have all the brains of a blueberry muffin, but when they are in a large group they are at least as intelligent as a human. The Skritt in LA are, quite clearly, very intelligent and some are even hilariously arrogant and savvy merchants, but there doesn’t seem to be enough of them around to warrant it.
Is there a Skritt colony nearby? Is it perhaps mentioned outside of the game (or somewhere in-game that I’ve missed/forgotten) that they have a very large population in the city and the ones in-game are token representatives?
We need more Skritt regardless of the answer…
Guardian, hands down. With an Altruistic Healing build you are throwing out Boons on everyone around you while constantly healing yourself. A Necro can easily tag large numbers of people, but killing them is more difficult. A Guardian can tag, kill and survive. If you are concerned with longevity you should know that there are two types of Guardians – those that get up close and personal in order to help their allies by ensuring they are in boon range, and those that stay back. The latter never dies because they are never in danger, while the former will die as soon as everyone around him drops.
As far as the “tankiness” of the two classes go, health points are not the sole measure of surviveability. Guardians have a vast array of damage mitigation tools available to them. To give one example, a Guardian can easily go into combat and be unharmed by the enemy’s first 8 attacks through the use of blinds and blocks, and then they have almost constant heals and access to all Boons. A Guardian may have almost half the health of a Necromancer, but, even with equivalent Toughness, a Necro simply doesn’t have the abilities to survive as long as a Guardian.
Necromancers absolutely have their place in WvW. Their primary use is as offensive support, weakening the enemy by applying large numbers of conditions on enemies. Guardians are there to increase the surviveability of everyone around them and fill a defensive support role by supplying Boons and heals on their allies.
Did there ever end up being any successor to Final Rest? A very scarce item that drops from nobody knows where?
There are some pretty awesome monsters there, towards the bottom, that we haven’t seen yet.
