EDIT: I MANAGED TO FIX IT!! i changed my surround to stereo and now i can hear my instruments, it’s a bit odd but i don’t remember this being an issue back when i used to play
Issue #1 has to do with your underwater skills, and affects all classes. When you use a land skill, that skill AND the skill in the same slot underwater goes on cooldown.
So if on land you have: Banner of Discipline, “For Great Justice!” and Frenzy (in that order), and underwater you have “Shake it Off!”, “On My Mark!” and Dolyak Signet, then using Banner of Discipline will cause “Shake It Off!” to go on 120 second cooldown.
It is stupid and non-obvious. Workaround is to equip 3 useless utilities underwater.
how is it stupid? you’re asking be able to use Frenzy (or any buff skill for that matter) and then after you’ve used the skill, swap it out for a shout or any other skill untill it’s back on CD, now THAT’S stupid.
When you use a skill, the whole utility slot is on CD, not just the skill.
I’ve been told that others can in fact hear my instruments (Marriner’s Horn + Flute) them but i can’t, I’ve deleted local.dat and also reinstalled the whole game yet the issue still stands. I’ve not managed to find anyone else to see with an instrument to see if it’s for all instruments or just mine.
I’ve also tryed playing with the sound options as well as graphic options just to see if any of it would help but anything i try to do doesn’t work!
i’ve had this issue for a while and at first it only caused a slight inconvenience but as of now the game is unplayable in wvw, right click rarely ever registers when trying to rotate the camera, i’ve downloaded some mouse software to change my right click to left click to see if it was my mouse button but it turns out it also happens with left click
edit: i’m using a logitech ls1 mouse (cheap wired one)
A bit off-topic: I’m rank 161 on my necro yet I don’t plan to play on it anymore, maybe just a few ranks, since I leveld a new char for WvW. Am I really forced to play another 160 ranks on my necro just to get my ‘missed’ chests ??
Or did Anet actually think of this and made it so no matter what character I play I still get 2 chests for 160+ ranks.
Hopefully it’s the latter, I can’t comprehend the stupidity if they didn’t make the rank backlog acc bound.
Anyone know how this works ?
you don’t understand that EVERYONE has to rank up to gain there backlogged chests, it just means that you’ll be getting more than everyone else
be glad that they actually decided to reward past ranks and that ranks are the same experience each level because if that wasn’t the case you’d actually have a leg to stand on

Some players are trying to alienate casuals and pugs by forcing them to join Teamspeak, and completely leave them out of any information if they don’t join, hiding the Commander Tag and everything.
Sure, Guilds are strong, and can do well, but remember that there are a lot of randoms that join your zerg as well, increasing your numbers even more.
Just saying, do not alienate casuals and pugs. The Random player is pretty much everything that keeps the server strong.
I’ve been noticing the teamspeak elitism creeping in since we dropped, suggesting that elitists had given up on SFR wvw and have now returned. The reality with teamspeak is that it is exclusionary, i.e. not all computers can cope with that and a blob in wvw as well. As well, with teamspeak, the amount of abuse and/or inappropriate advances you get if you are female on it is atrocious, and certainly ruins the community feel that wvw should promote. As for the argument that those not on teamspeak die quicker and do not follow the commander well, firstly the commander tag is there to be followed and non-teamspeakers do follow it and secondly, as a non-teamspeaker myself, i rarely die before those on teamspeak – we stand or die together. Relying on teamspeak and isolating those who don’t use it is really not productive and I hope the teamspeak elitism that’s returned to SFR disappears again soon.
Also on the teamspeak thing, I’ve also been noting an increase in the numbers of back-seat commanders in SFR recently. The amount of people who, especially if the commander they are following is not on teamspeak, question every single move they make is increasing at a worrying rate. Frankly, you don’t have to follow a commander; if you don’t like their tactics then stop following them and stop back-seat commanding.
I really don’t want to put a downer on it, I’m finding the new tier fantastic fun compared to the dull viz-fest of tier 1, but the returning elitism in the SFR wvw community is really beginning to concern me. Please can we cut it out and remember that this game is for fun.
don’t be so negative, there is no elitism in being on teamspeak or promoting it, it’s just strategically better for a commander to tell you what to do rather than typing it
you’re not forced into being on it but if you want to improve jump on and listen, i’ll guarantee you’ll learn a lot more than you would if the commander was typing (which almost no commanders do, even none teamspeak ones)
also about the questioning of commanders, there’s nothing wrong with giving them criticism especially if the person giving it has wvw experiance that they want to pass on
I don’t play mesmer, but I don’t think it needs a nerf. I think it requires pretty skilled play in order to predict what the enemy will be throwing at you to use it as a block, which in turn allows for baiting this move by the enemy. Using it at the wrong time means you may not have it as an offensive option when you really need to burst.
I’m of the opinion lately that we just don’t need more nerfs to take away people’s options in a fight. I think we should be giving every profession more options to deepen the gameplay.
due to the low cooldown there isn’t much skill about it, i play a mesmer and find it atrocious that we have the ability to immobilize, do fairly good damage to you, while also being immune for 2 seconds, every 10 seconds
in my opinion it should be given a 15 second cooldown and then it might be considered skillful because you have to think when to use your leap, right now it’s just leap then blurred frenzy every 10 seconds
I’m mostly a solo / small group roamer. I do play with the zergs when they’re in need of help, but most of the time I’m the guy that will distract / capture smaller objectives in the background. Whenever I faced enemies, my first observation was what kind of title they were using.

What do artists and the gem store have to do with server lag? Oh that’s right. Nothing whatsoever. This, along with many other comments in this thread, are incredibly out of touch with how software development actually works and the limitations that exist in reality.

even at 1k each server, there’s 50 servers assuming they all run on there own dedicated one, that’s 50k a month
most packages are 3/6/12 months so at the very least you’re going to need to get 150k
that’s also assuming 1k is the price, which is extremely unlikley and also have you thought about what happens if you were to raise the 150k? that’s right, you have to do it all over again because anet aren’t going to pay up
i think i made a bit of a mistake as its 3 worlds on 1 server meaning it would only be 16 new servers they need, even still my point still holds

99/100 people don’t care what title (or even rank) you have, i can see how it might make you feel like you acomplished something though because they’re so insanely hard to obtain
yes they want us to stop playing mesmers, it’s not a rediculous claim at all, it’s totally what they want us to do
mesmers are the ONLY class to use confusion and it’s our only way to deal damage, we’re also the only class to use retaliation so surely it has something to do with them wanting to slowly remove the class from the game

The intent of this change was to force players to use the ability in an offensive manner only rather than as an escape tool. When used as intended, the player is rewarded with the 20s cool down rather than 40 seconds. Unfortunately, the ability is currently bugged because even when used as intended, it still frequently applies the 40s cool down.
If player uses the ability as intended to attack another player, the 40s cool down still gets applied during evades, blind, aegis, blocks, and other states the target is is like invulnerability/immunity. As currently implemented / bugged, people are being forced to save RTL for escaping instead of attacking, which is the opposite of the intended effect as they ultimately have no control over the outcome of the ability use.
totally fair, just look at mesmers whos attacks get dodged/blinded/blocked, they don’t gain a phantasm/clone and the skill goes on full cd
with mesmers it’s the majority of there dps(depending on if its a phantasm atleast) but with an ele it’s far from it
Well you can do daily / monthly in wvw this leads to a means of getting ascended gear.
it’s been 4 months since laurels have been released, doesn’t take too much thinking to figure out that even if you did every daily and monthly since release you still don’t have enough for all jewelry, on the other hand you’ve had 6 months of being able to do it casually and i’m betting you have all that you need
occasionally my weapons disappear and sometimes my staff has the same wield animation as hammer/greatsword too, fairly certain it’s only happened after the patch too
update just happened yet it’s still broken and as i’ve already said, it’s been OVER 5 months (for the last bug report on this) with it maybe being broken even on release
should i just abandon all hope of it ever being fixed and just swap out my runes?
if it were to get implemented it would have to be for badges of honor and based on rank (higher rank = more badges) to stop people “abusing” the siege traits
i’m going to be honest with you i’ve only hit 80 about 3 days ago (but had badges for full 80 gear) and i’ve got to say, if we had a higher hp pool we would be unbeatable, if the cooldowns of out defensive ability’s were to be shortened we would be irreplaceable
guardians are one of the best classes to bring group utility with there buffs and heals while still outputting a fair amount of damage, i’ve never felt more helpfull to my pvp raids and i main a mesmer
personally i’d try for the wvw kills, how many is it exactly? i can hit about 500-1k each night depending on how well we’re doing and how determined the opposing team is, granted we are t1 but the monthly can’t be more than 250 which can easyly be done in 3 days
4 piece set bonus, "Your next attack after using your healing skill steals health. " still bugs out when your armour gets damaged
6 piece set bonus, “You become mist when you fall below 10% health” needs to either be reworded so that it says when you’re below 10% and hit or fixed (not sure if its a bug or just bad wording)
been bugged for over 5 months and honestly could be fixed by a single person in a day
but the thing is they’re tradable (skins atleast) which stimulates the economy, they did however add winter skins to purchase for gems which were not tradable
i see your frustration but it’s a smart move, you’re not forced to spend real money but can choose to gamble your gold (gold to gems) in a chance at getting an expensive skin OR just purchase the skin with the gold you were going to gamble
i’m about to venture into spending the 6g for the sigil but like you, i’m unsure if it also goes on cooldown even without a condition – i’ve read that it MIGHT due to it being the same concept as the purity sigil but the guy didn’t have any proof

This is true. However, it’s kinda meaningless considering that the damage formula depends on the weapon, power and skills that your opponent is using. About the only point of reference that you can get is if you happen to have a fully geared characters of all races. Then you could use the tooltips, which assume 2600 armor at level 80, as a point of reference.
So, you’d want the armor stat to be replaced by a % decrease/increase compared to the same damage you’d receive if you had 2600 armor? Fine but useless really.
i’m sure he means as an addition, if you hover over it it says “decreases incoming damage”, so instead it would be “decreases incoming damage by x%”

so i was just wondering about my fps, i’m getting ~40fps in an empty zone and 20 fps in wvw just standing there
my cpu is a Q8300 at stock clocks, i’m assuming that my problem is that but is there any settings i can turn off/on to still give me an alright looking game but get some performance increase?
i haven’t had time to get into any semi-large scraps in wvw but if i’m only getting 20 fps while standing at a keep then i dread to think what it’s like with 20 people on screen!
i imagine you’re thinking of spvp where you’re actually level 80 with all ability’s, wvw is different than that and you’re just scaled up (stats wise) to 80, you’re still just a level 6 in terms of ability and armor
