Disabling Mouse Wheel...

TEKnowledgy.1760

I use an app called “X-Mouse Button Control” you can set each button to w/e even to keystrokes I use it mainly for mozilla and in co-op with another app for magnifier but its always running used it in some games aswell in my past. Been using it a long time before i even step foot in gw2 so I knowit wont get u in trouble. (wouldnt anyways long as you not trying automate the game while afk yer fine. no different than using xpadder for controller function in the game)

Now what you could do is set it up for app detection so when loads gw2 it would disable the wheel and when you exit return to normal. Probably want to set it to a keyboard keystroke the game don’t use problem solved. The app has profiles per app based so can set it differently for w/e you need it for without a hassle. Just make sure read it’s instructions to understand how to set it up.
Google for it or head through my link for it: https://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/xmousebuttoncontrol.htm

Anyways hope this helps

Superfetch shouldnt bother you i have it on i don’t get the issue you facing when is the last time you defragmented your hard drive? (try to do that least once a month) You’d be amazed how hdds fail back in the day i had one fail and died and didnt even show signs or sounds it just died plain n simple, I was unprepared to lost alotta stuff thats computers for you sometimes they are unpredictable. But to be honest my guess probably background program effecting things. how long have you had this problem does it do it in other games or programs? (edit: forgot you said it didn’t in other games. lol man my memory going bad in my brain to bad I couldn’t buy new stick of memory for it lol) Sorry for my late reply. Try defragging that drive if you haven’t in awhile high fragmentation will make hdd sluggish may slow down loading of gw2’s game files.

@Healix
I will try pingplotter. Thank you!

Make sure you try it on the game server IP game site like forums is different server than the game it’s self.
This here is North America Game server IP: 64.25.38.106 (it maybe different for you)
Not sure what EU server IP would be or if it connects through there aswell if you need to know there is various ways I use an app called “TCP View” to get that info link if you want it: http://download.cnet.com/TCPView/3000-2094_4-10796077.html While in game run it then it tell you every ip connected including game clients ofcoarse.

Just use the /ip command inside the game.

The IP is going to be different depending on which map instance you are in. Although in the end it shouldn’t matter much which specific IP you use as long as it is in the correct region (NA or EU).

EU IPs start with 206.127.×.x instead of 64.25.×.x

Cool beans either way he/she needs server ip and not use forums/websites ehehe i use the tool because I use it for other things and system monitoring what ever works best i just copy/paste ip easier than trying remember the ip from in game. Each to their own ways.

6 core is bit higher 70c ceiling max anything after not advised 8 core is 62c most prefer to keep 5c from max im bout same way I prefer bout 10c from max as if i did blow it up i be kinda screwed as I dont make enough money in RL to really buy another (least not at moment) so I prefer to be careful. now on amd cpus there is package temps and then there is socket temps.

With 8 core on socket max advised is 70c and on package 62c amd fx series doesn’t actually have a thermal sensor, they have an algorithm that calculates temps so its most likely 5c-20c off actual temp, you see this alot with 8 core im not sure about a 6 core fx as i don’t own one.

When the temps are idle, mine will state 10c on package we all know that is impossible on air as it can’t drop lower than room temp. But once it gets under load it starts becoming more accurate reading, usually once hits round 30c starts calculating more accurately. The temp one must pay most attention to is package as thats your cores themselves and socket is the whole cpu its important but least of the worry.

Now ask for references all day long but experience has alot to also do with it I’ve been using amd cpus since 2003 i know a great deal about them. every PC i’ve owned built by hand myself. I have delved deep into research on these fx series as I built my current pc around it.
So not trying be a know it all just trying help people out with what i do know. wasn’t a forum guideline share your knowledge? That’s all I’m trying to do. i was actually going to give some links this morning but it slipped my old mind as i had lotta stuff to do this morning. So i apologize for that.

https://community.amd.com/message/2656451#comment-2656451

Though there is quite the diffrence between peak tempature and always staying at it

thanks for least putting up a link to back my statement.
You correct there is a difference but if you read what he said while gaming he is hitting 70-72. He doesn’t state for how long but if he is in game then I am going to automaticly assume it is staying above safe temps. he never mentioned if it’s socket or package though either socket is lil more forgiving but if its that package that high and he keeps abusing it like that just killing it off little quicker than a non-overclocker or someone with safer temps.

But in end of the day it’s his hardware he fries the poor thing that be on him can’t say nobody gave him heads up on it now lol. Its always wise to research max safe temps before you overclock, be it cpu or gpu.

Personally, i don’t recommend OP to OC for primary reason he states he don’t have the money to build a new rig.
If he don’t know what he doing bye bye pc ya know? So I never recommend OCing as a solution. Really wouldn’t help as much as you think it would not on this game 500mhz might get him 10 fps maybe 20 but is it worth it when you can’t replace it? i don’t think it is I’d rather lag-along then burn out the only PC I had or could afford wouldn’t you?
Also his mobo has to support OCing before he even could anyways. Some motherboards don’t even support it. Pretty common with prebuilt pc but most of us custom builders have a board that supports it.

Anyways I’m gonna bow out of this thread as we are going some what off topic really not much more I can offer OP to safely help his PC run GW2 better. Only OC I’d rec would be no turbo and set it to turbo speed always least thats not passing its normal functionality. Would be stable and safe most likely, but like I said mobo don’t support it then not helping him anyways. take care & happy gaming

A better cooler would be like $20 (212 Evo, which is what I use. 4.5GHz@1.32V with good temps, ~70-72 tops in games). Overclocking would definitely help, and is the cheapest way to get better performance, but the end result still won’t be great. Just a bit better

thats bad temps for amd lol for intel i can not say

Meh. “Good” might be overstating it a bit but it’s not at a point where it’s worrisome/a problem

Guessing you’ve never done much research into the safe operating temps of an amd fx cpu be it 6 or 8. Belive me 70c is worry some it wont live very long for you at temps like that sounds like you need to be going water if you are hitting them temps. But do what ya wish your hardware not mine.

Be hard for anet to set up a separate deal because conversion rates are always changing so they selling 800 gems to usa for $10 they’d have match all currencies to your countries conversion rate so you dont get ripped off so to speak just easier to keep it at usd standard charge everyone equally.

ArenaNet supports the EU, where the price of 800 gems will change to £8.5 or €10 depending on the selected country. For everyone else, $ is default.

Thanks for clarification. I’m just going off of past experiences with other companies. I don’t live in eu or outside of usa. but my point being rather it shows usd or eu currencies its still the same prices and if he was by chance confused by seeing usd showing in game that he could use a google converter to help him understand what he is paying i know i sorta wrote it confusingly maybe even got carried away and overly explained things when i didn’t need to. Having hard time explaining my knowledge I suppose never had to explain such a thing before man gotta start some where though right lol We all noobs everyday of our lives when faced with a new task.

because anet is american based if it was based solely in your country it charge in same currency as your country really no different. usd is world standard just charging you amount in usd as to what the conversion rate would be under your countries currency.

theres website i used to use was based in england they’d charge me at rate of pounds guess thats what its called but it was same as if i paid usd pound at time worth more than usd so 10 pounds but coverts into like 12$ usd something like that anyways. All that currency stuff conversion stuff drivves me batty if one world currency existed in away id be all for it lol

you can hit up google google itself will help you convert rates if you need lil assistance just google “dollars to [your currency here] conversion” without brackets and google itself will load up a text based converter right there at the top. just type in the usd amount it will automatically convert to your currency at current conversion rates

Be hard for anet to set up a separate deal because conversion rates are always changing so they selling 800 gems to usa for $10 they’d have match all currencies to your countries conversion rate so you dont get ripped off so to speak just easier to keep it at usd standard charge everyone equally. Without all the time adjusting to that conversion change. Instead they are letting your bank handle that conversion rate. Sorry if I’m confusing you just so hard to explain it maybe some one else come in simplify what im trying to say.

Ele is still the best , from day 1 to now!

I personally enjoy my condi builds. Honestly? When i tried power on certain classes i actually felt weaker.

I’m assuming you didn’t play pre-HoT :p

I’ve played since beta and i mean what i say. When i tried power it felt weaker to me. Maybe though that is because i don’t go for 2 offense lines and my builds try to take teamplay into account as i don’t believe damage alone will get you anywhere, granted, there are one-shot skills on some bosses but those aren’t everything in the game.

Wish I could agree with you’ve ive tried condi builds on engi rev little on ranger both pre-hot and post hot never could achieve the speed of killing like i could with high power medium precision (50% crit rate where i aim to be min but threshold i dont like it under 30%) and moderately high ferocity. Now thats just soloing in PvE perspective in PvP ive never tried personally might be better way to go shrugs.
i guess if I had to run a condi build be when ran zergs only I could see possible bennifit as it could help some classes other than self deal more damage.
But each to their own right if it works for you have at it.

I think alot would agree mesmer would be the hardest class to learn in PvE.
Engi would be 2nd because it is very complex class. It’s got so many kits to run with, so many possibilities. They are very flexible class and can do alot of things. But without time patients and gold (to try different ideas and builds armor/weapon variations) To find what works best for you. If no patients for learning or time to invest you will probably dislike it and feel it has no purpose in the game.
I see it alot I laugh passively at these people.
Rev would be a close 3rd It had a steep learning curve for me I wasted sums of gold working through all the possible builds before I found its sweet spot or sweet spot matched to how I played i have personal thresholds for both offense and defense.

I don’t do build guides, because it goes completely against who i am as a gamer.
I’m a tinker in games, i like trying ideas out I don’t mind wasting gold time and patients to perfect my builds and or learn my classes. That way i know it’s strengths and weakness and let myself adapt to any situation with that knowledge.

With that said, all 3 classes I’ve mentioned I soloed all of content in hot (not counting metas/raids of coarse) with all three.

Just out of curiosity, what do you people think about buying a cooler on the thing and overclocking? Cooler wouldn’t be too expensive though I guess we’d need a good PSU too.

that really wouldnt help his 6 core much on gw2 but turning off turbo and putting at max always, does help it. Keeps it from turboing and de-turboing in game. This is why i did that with mine. It would throttle up and my fps would increase then it throttle down and cause massive fps loss.
So i disabled my turbo, OC’ed it with multiplyer of 20 (no higher than turbo took it so safe OC) left it 4ghz always.
Also overclocking has alot to do with the silicon RNG some overclock good some don’t. Not sure if thats an amd thing only or both intel and amd silicon RNG.
I use rng term so peiople would understand its a gamble on it a random factor in play with OCing.
proper phrasing in the OC world is silicon lottery

We need more skirtless armor!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TEKnowledgy.1760

TEKnowledgy.1760

What I think we really need is the skirt moved to a separate slot in the visual composition of armor (like how parts of the boots and gloves can disappear when covered by another armor thanks to being being separate parts or alternate models), so you can hide it when there’s pants underneath, or choose between the skirt from the torso or the legs. This way we’d get tons of pants, but also we’d be able to do things like wearing the entire coat of the male Light Heritage armor whit different pants.

That be way to much work as armor 1 model per part have to go through every armor in the game and rework the modeling of pants yea you’ll never see that change I wouldn’t even suggest that idea lol

be better off just designing new armor letting it be as is to be honest with ya

What I’m saying its not anets servers lol I try to help you understand.
Ok when you connect to net say game or website etc. There is hops goes from your pc to your isp then your isp routes you through multiple servers before you reach final destination. The hops it takes can be few or many, but on avg about 10 hops. (servers your connection passes through)

Heres a example of what im saying, as image this just some random deal i pulled off google just to use as an example.
See all them ip addresses are hops that your internet connection takes to final destination.

If by chance one or more of the hops dies or gets DDoS attacked you’ll get extreme lag and sometimes no connection to final destination.
Most likely this is whats happening to you and your buddy.
Not your isp fault or anets its the “middle men” thats messing it all up.

from 1-3 hops usually ISP stuff 4-say outta 10 be round bout 8 would be middle men and last 2 final destination.

So no probably not frakked out of game forever but after while it may stable out and become fixed then there you go time to play.

Edit: By the way VPN would let you bypass default ISP route how it works you >isp then isp > VPN. Then the vpn takes a different route than your isp does to final destination.
Depending the VPN server you pick you might get lag depends how far away from anet servers it is. i use cyberghost VPN they are pretty good VPN there is a free client and monthly subs if you interested in that http://www.cyberghostvpn.com/en_us

Personally i’d probably just wait till stabilized i’m sure ya boys not gonna die for 1 missed day or few hours of gw2 ita be there when you are able to play again lol.

I just logged in seems fine to me do trace route or use ping plotter probably bad server hop in there some where since both you and a friend if live close to another can’t get in if that is the case it’s possible you can use a vpn to work around the dead server in the route to anet servers. Yea very technical way of doing it otherwise wait till one of the server hops becomes stable bout all you can do.

How many folks are aware that this practice goes against VISA MasterCard regulations? According to both VISA and MasterCard they are not allowed to charge your card until they ship or complete the transaction.

The Cardholder only needs to contact their issuing bank (the bank your card is going through) and file a complaint. This could actually prevent ArenaNet from accepting credit cards and/or also be fined for the violation.

Bad thing is the 4 days would be over before the Dispute was settled, but it would force ANet to re-visit their business model.

!?! Whats that got to do with in game locks lol?

Basically it says it does no good to have a 4 day block because they shouldn’t be charging the card meaning they have no idea if it is stolen or not. They could do a pre authorization on the card but that still wouldn’t tell if the card was stolen or not. Most people don’t realize their card number has been compromised until they receive their monthly statement.

Simple answer they are breaking the rules by making you wait 4 days and it does nothing to help them in regards to payment. Make sense now?

I see what you saying now.
But really he already has the game it’s free to play theres no cc charge what so ever. Unless HoT is bought straight up to gain both installments.

With that said i never got any locks what so ever when i bought HoT.
But I did have a core gw2 account for 4 years so maybe thats why idk?

Maybe new players could bypass that block by just getting gw2 core first free then buy HoT onto that account separately?
Also idk about that, just curious I suppose.

Thank you, It actually boosted it up a couple of fps, but I am using a 1680×1050 screen

Awesome glad it help thank you for letting me know it did because I had been curious about this tweak on 6 cores but never had a chance to personally test it might help me help others with this tweak in the future.

Now you can always mess round them affinities try different set ups might find one works better than even what i suggested.

I’d tell you drop screen res but I used that res on my old pc dual core amd and a old rump radeon 4670HD back in early gw2 days and lowering res never really helped much but you could try if you are willing also game settings some things in there that are big fps stealers.

Heres a post I gave to a guy nearly on same system setup as me shows settings max and then tweaked for best performance that doesn’t kill quality to much and still looks pretty good might could try few these combos and increase a bit more. Screen shots at bottom my post compare them tell don’t degrade much at all.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/18-25-FPS-Non-Crowded-Towns/first#post6485021

Other wise really isn’t a whole lot us amd users can do just how its been since 6-8 cores came out up until bulldozer architecture amd rocked intels socks off lmao. Under most apps non-game related 6 and 8 core amds owns intel except for some i7 cpu configurations.

How it goes i reckon i hear the new AMD Ryzens (aka zen tech) that came out recently got nice boost for gaming but that might just be hype never tested myself so can’t say for certain.

But as those other fellaz said not really much anet can do really just way they designed the game engine it’s more cpu bound relies heavy on single thread operations and amds cpus are 1 thread per core where correct me if im wrong intels are like more cores per thread. So makes them run single threads alot better and faster.

This is just my opinion but, I think that “signet” are a bit to “magic” for the Engineer.

I agree.

But now my opinion of the engineer i think signets is to lazy for the class engineer always been very complex class lotta people hate it because it’s hard to truly master. Engi was very first class i ever used I’ve grown on its complexity I’m not a lazy player either though I’m happy to take time to learn the class what works well what doesn’t still to this day I think engi is the most enjoyable class in the game to master and learn. Believe it or not revenant would come in 2nd to it I love the learning curve both classes had. Ranger used be 2nd now its third though now trying master mesmer in PvE i can tell I’m going to love it’s PvE learning curve.

Engi don’t need to be lazy ol signet class if it was bet 100$ it be used 5x more than it currently is.
People are lazy in gw2 not everyone but alot are why you don’t see engi all over the place.

Current state of revenant?

Depends who you ask.
Ask a person was here before rev nerf they will probably tell you its broken and worthless.
Ask someone post nerf they probably tell you its a fun and a good class lol.

Personally, i love rev as is could use some slight energy tweaks on weapon skills I feel But for the most part I’m content and able to work well with it and have become good with energy management. But I’m also a post nerf rev user, I never seen or played rev before that huge nerf of things took place.
So my opinion completely different then a majority of the pre-nerf users.

All I can say test it and see. If you don’t like it, then ya don’t. Just skip it until it’s in line more with what you are seeking.

well neither cpu or that gpu greatest in the world I’m not sure if my 8 core trick will work on your 6 core you could try it wont hurt nothing if it helps you’ll see noticeable fps increase if it dosnt it will stay the same or drop.

But i pass info to ya anyways. Ok once in game pull up your task manager ctrl alt delete go to gw2.exe right click goto affinity uncheck cores 3 and 6 make sure others are checked I know may be like aint 6 core better than 4? for games least amd cpus noooooo because of how it threads. games only use 1 or 2 threads why intel does better what this tweak does is lets amd cpus give better performance to single threads
I am on 8 core I turn off cores 2 4 6 8 (in task manager it be 1 3 5 7 just in case another amd 8 core user tries this) I gain massive fps in gw2 and gtav i gained 30 fps in gatav with this trick about 15 in gw2 also the fps stays more stable.
I have one game does better with 5 cores rather than 8 or 4 that was shadow of mordor and in mafia 2 game benchmarks better under 8 core than 4 or 5 cores (by bout 2-3 fps) i know wild stuff half time i dont even know why I just know what works best and what doesn’t.
Also turn off vsync and use frame limiter i gain more stable slightly higher fps with vsync off in gw2 now you never stated screen res thats going effect things to also your settings alot you didnt state so until you do i can’t offer up any more tweaks or advice.

Anyways if what i did give you didnt help just go back in task manage recheck the unchecked or restart game either way same outcome.

You also could try using high priority ive been using all my games on that for about a year now i see some noticeable fps increase from it and stability dont use real time may cause serious wear n tear on your hardware and or cause other issues.

Just tested myself it’s applying super speed to allies (including npcs) maybe just a fluke 1 time thing (could be lag related) also it’s reach isnt infinite if they are out of range wouldn’t be effected by it’s boons.

In reality you should know it dosnt apply to caster any skill in this game no matter class will plainly state it also affects you if it does.

I was hoping for full quote of the primary guy just wrong quoting you not dense I’m just to lazy go back copy it all and recreate the entire quote of it all lmao. i figure wont matter in 7 days from now as this post will fall into the graveyard like any thread does.
Most people don’t pay attention to what i have to say unless I’m insulting them anyways cause I’m not a “regular” on the forums. You are probably the user i run into more than any other on here because we both interact in just about all areas of the forums. So ofcoarse you’d be like da kitten I just read lmao.

If said new player would check these forums for the information provided in this thread, considering they must use Google or some other search engine, more than likely the search engine would direct them to the Wiki, before coming across this particular thread. That was my point. We all know how long threads stay on the front page.

Yea I was rethinking your statement after I had posted i wasn’t sure if I had missed the point or not. I did to certain extent, but still good chance new player would still miss that info. It depends what they are searching for would you not agree?

If gw3 was a thing they better have a lot more things pertaining to war, like boat / airship battles. Flight mechanics, wall scaling (throwing ropes up walls or ladders) the whole shabang bang

Sounds more like a pipe dream, why would it even be like that?

GW1 just didn’t have the elements to make a working MMO, it was very restricted I mean if I even recall the game didn’t even have both X and Y axis, Gw2 does. I am pretty sure that with current engine GW2 devs are able to expand it and work on it much better and should be able to make Boat / Airship battles if it should ever be a thing. They made GW2 in awareness that they needed an engine that was easier or even possible to mod, GW1 was very restricted. ( I have no fact and I may aswell just rumbeling nonsene, but that is what I think).

Pretty sure gw1 had an x,y axis lols.

I hope he meant Z axis

More like a “u v w x y and z” axis to gw1 I’m pretty sure if the Lich’s alliance had a chance to fight abbadon’s alliance he would have done it.

Got players alliance got the Lich’s alliance got the Shiro Tagachi alliance got the Destroyers alliance got Abbadon’s alliance. Got luxon alliance got the kurzick alliance (Kurzick and Luxon are more sub alliances as they could be both player’s enemies or allies but neither actually had any influence on destruction of tyria)

I’d bet chances be gaven they would have all fought against one another as they all had different ideas of the ruling and or destruction of tyria or world as a whole. They would of had conflicts of interests, if the story allowed it lol.

That was in just the first 3 years of gw1 as a whole haha……
GW2 Honestly, is progressing way slower compared to gw1 when it comes to the war on tyria. (so from that you should get that GW3 isn’t going be round for awhile I’d say)

Been 4yrs going on 5 what this august? (I maybe little off on that but you get my point hopefully) How many prime alliances have we fought in gw2? Can’t count world bosses as a single alliance as they are minions of the story end game bosses (well a couple are) which are the dragons but they are all in the same alliance.
GW1 has had a far more greater war and threat to tyria and or world than gw2 has had so far in the terms of axis vs allies.

I wouldn’t expect GW3 for atleast another 5+ years if ever, compared to the progress of gw2s turmoil. (Also one must take into perspective of how little anets gw2 team is becoming. Probably even more variables at play that not even I have realized yet)

In 3 years time we got 3 campaigns and different story lines and 1 expansion in gw1.
In 3 years Gw2 got 2 campaigns 2 different story lines though related to another so more like expansion onto core gw2’s 1st campaign.

Living world is more like prequels that lead up into events of a another larger story.
All living world together counting content as a whole, LW brought in 5 areas or so?
So like 5 instances in gw1 terms so could be counted as a whole as 1 expansion content wise not quiet but close.

I don’t wanna get all technical as my point being yea I’d say least 5+ years before you will hear anything about a gw3 and also like i said if ever. There is lotta things in play that effect this real life and gw2’s story progress.

If WoW would have never existed I don’t think gw2 would have either to be honest. Because gw2 was aimed at stealing let me sugar coat that “cater” WoW players that was main goal $$$$$$$ for anet not saying that in an insulting way to anet thats just gaming industry for ya.
Anet and blizzard been rivals since 05 GW1 vs WoW era I remember that very well.

If a new (potential) player would check the forums, then they would likely check the Wiki, which provides this information. The forums provide a link to the Wiki, and many, many posts suggest or direct forum-users to the Wiki.

I’m sorry I have to disagree with this, I highly doubt any new player has any incentive to check the wiki some people consider wikis as short cutting, similar to a guide. I for one am that type of player.

I was long into the game before i ever felt i needed help from a wiki, I think that was when I was trying get “been there done that” completed.

With that said, OP just salvage stuff bank any exotics you land, check prices to before hand some exotics are better off salvaging anyways for ecto and you might even come out better by selling materials including ecto in the end of it.

You can stack 250 of all mats in game, you wont even come close to 250 in 4 days time unless you playing 12hrs+ a day for 4 days. Even then most 3rd+ tier you wont even be at 100 of each. In that time frame.

A 4 day block isn’t a big deal, it’s the perspective you have of it that is making it a big deal.

Question about 1080 GPU + GW2

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: TEKnowledgy.1760

TEKnowledgy.1760

i5 probably bottle necking the 1080 and gw2 to be honest if you went to i7 you’d probably increase fps even more . GW2 is more cpu needy. Better the cpu better the fps i used play gw2 on dual core amd with 4670 radeon very weak system, when i put in a video card bout 4x better i hardly went up any fps maybe 15 tops slightly better stable avgs. With my new system which also amd build went to 8 core cpu massive fps gains from that using same video card. But 75-120 fps you should be happy gw2 came out when there was no such thing as freesync designed more around a stable 60 fps why you only have frame limiter in game that tops at 60.

Weird I got it first day i bought hot more like first 10 mins after buying it lol on the way to opening up wastes map

pay to win confirmed!?!

Actually that still wouldn’t be pay to win considering armor no different then any other. The select stats u only get 3 difference berserker knight and carrion(i think it was) which none of them i use in builds currently (maybe later) Maybe pay to look good, thats bout all gw2 is. Bout like real life right? I know u was just being funny but I had to counter it anyways with technicalities don’t want people to take you serious.

haha, I should have added more “<sarcasm>” tags around that line!

I shouldn’t even jump into another post about how hard HoT is. I have soloed every inch of it on 3 different chars except for the metas and some hero points.

At first it did seem hard I was still decked in berserker armor I changed it up on engineer went 50% valk 50% berserker turned to scrapper changed a few traits around changed few my foods/utility effects showed them mordrem what it was all about. Had wonderful time soloing it hope the next expansion is equally as hard maybe even little tougher. I like little learning curve in my games then again been a gamer a very long time (33 yrs) maybe why i find it to easy(base gw2) or just right(HoT)?

Change your build a little for HoT don’t expect base gw2 build to work in HoT because it may not depending armor you use. You dying alot then start using power/toughness builds. At least until you learn enemies how to work them over once you feel confident switch back to paper armor.

So much had changed in those 2 1/2 years i was bit overwhelmed all my traits changed etc I had rework many of my builds to compensate for some trait losses and some of them couldn’t be saved what so ever (like target dropping my turrets the entire ability was gone to do that)

I would suggest you wait until level 80 before getting hot since all hot content are for 80s player. However you do get level 80 boost if you choose to buy hot but it kinda ruins the experience if you use it on your first character.

I also agree with him. Go 80 atleast one time, beat all you can beat solo (if you stay loner). Then move to HoT. Because HoT was made more for people that had been level 80 for awhile. Understood game mechanics and how to handle themselves in battle, also understood their builds and/or professions. HoT was released 3 years after base gw2, so lotta people including myself was lvl 80 for a very long time.

If I jumped level 80 right off bat then went directly to HoT I might not say the things I said before I would probably need my hand held for sure or a group for non-meta battles, since some people seem to get offended by the hand holding term.

Personally, with level 80 boost i used it on my rev. I don’t regret it my other two level 80s my 1st char ever was engineer, 2nd was a ranger. I prefer to learn at higher levels harder the better, because that is the content I stay in. So I learnt how to best play a rev in HoT entirely. His build(s) and armor are perfect, my sweet spot for HoT. All the hate and dislike for rev I did face to, until I found that sweet spot now i play obsessively with him lol.

Bottom line enjoy base gw2 first, get 80 there first. Learn the game how to detect mob skill use, learn to dodge and all that good stuff. It will save your life in HoT and make it easier for you. Also test armors, traits and skills on your own (I don’t use build guides) find your sweet spots on your classes, once you do all that or willing to, HoT you will love.

Anyways take care and happy gaming.

In GW1 it was possible to dye ones weapons.
This is a mechanic I would love to see implemented on everything but the legendarys in GW2.

I won’t presume to speak for the rest of the community but I’m certain I’m not the only one who would like to change weapon colors to suit their personal tastes.

Thoughts?

Sound like you like having entirely matching gear yea me to lmao would be cool not sure why ya can’t. Like you said was possible in gw1 i always liked a green chaos axe

ab just faster. multiloot has nothing to do with actually doing 5 metas multilooting is map jumping in a squad looting each instance of post meta ab not sure if u know that or not why i said what i did because you thought i was referring to multilooting by telling him to do 5 metas back to back lol verdant brink metas is pretty decent loots aswell tangled depths its ok but might be little rough chak goo take a new hot player out pretty quickly pretty harsh on a newcomer lol metas bit technical to. ds good takes the longest pretty technical aswell to but hard to land a full map because of taxing happens alot in ds unfortunately. Sure plenty ways make 5 gold HoT in my opinion is fastest way (daily nets him 2g which is much much faster) I sell mats so to me making gold slow but when i sell mats instant 120g every 7 days like I said i’ve never multilooted guess if person was 5 times per meta that be like 600g every 7 days aint no wonder they nerfing that right lol. thats what i’d make if I were doing it by multiplying what I’d typically make per 7 days. I’m amazed no one has got banned by multilooting it’s truly an exploit. anyways off topic with this I’ve done enough of that in one day lol. take care

As for getting through Guild Wars 1 being an indication of anything, I guess the question is, did you have heroes with you because with decent heroes, it doesn’t matter how bad you are in Guild Wars 1.

Of course Guild Wars 1 wasn’t an open world MMO, it was a CORPG, with no open world, and it’s a completely different playing experience.

HoT was meant to be expansion content. Just as Eye of the North was harder than core Guild Wars 1 content, so is HoT harder than Guild Wars 1 core content.

I was in no way complaining bout gw1 or asking for advice.
I was just in away comparing some aspect of hard mode difficulty to gw2 HoT area. While gw1 isn’t a hard game but if you take on certain areas in hard mode while not knowing what you are about to face it at times can be harder than gw2 HoT difficulty, in my personal opinion. I was, guess I still am a 11 1/2 year vet of gw1 as i still play it on n off still working on my HoM stuff.
I was more the less just having a laugh about under estimating that area of gw1 so many dwarves, heritics & doylaks all crammed into a small area. Probably the hardest hard mode area in gw1 lol. Had to whip out the map here was the place “Ice dome” on hard with full hero team. Like i said I took it on long time ago not knowing what to expect ive since cleared that area and moved on.

But in the end is it harder than hot? Perspective it depends on how well do you know hot how well do you know gw1 hard mode how well do you know the mobs skills they use if not very well they both are equal on terms of difficulty until you -60% on DP in gw1. Question truly is which is more frustrating getting killed in? Definitely gw1 as it had death penalties that lasted longer than 3 mins, if you didn’t have some them candy canes. I’m talking bout them good ones that wiped party DP fully lol. Any long time gw1 player knows what I’m talking bout.
So if counting possible -60% DP gw1 base content was way harder than HoT or gw2 as a whole even on normal difficulty.
Gw1 was way more punishing on a players death than gw2 base/HoT hands down.
Gw2 like a cake party you die some one reses you might lost 50 armor I never noticed much of difference with damaged armor it must be pretty light.
Game feels like its made for people that truly are casual players, even hot same way (and it is) after one learns the mobs it becomes simple.
A cake walk at best. People think gw2 hard and punishing but its not even a tickle if you are an old gw1 player.
Could you imagine losing 60% of you health in gw2? You would still have alot you probably wouldn’t struggle even then lets you got 20K HP 60% down to 9K most people dont ever drop 25% off base any ways soloing. Lost 60% in gw1 think my warrior has 560 hp tank running at 200 hp aint much of a tank then lol. caster round bout 120 or so dp is murder 187 in gw1, makes it truly punishing.
gw2 u die lose 50 armor (is it even that much ive never even looked to be honest) whoopty do lol res repair try again you could die a million times in gw2 without repairs still easier than dying 6x in gw1.
