It’s pay to win when the only winning to set yourself apart from others is the skins o the legendary.

Other MMOs have content requirements to get XYZ legendary. Anet requires RMT to get legendaries.

The only content required for a legendary is 1 week of WvW, 3 days of dungeons, and countless hours of grinding the same map (cursed shore) over an over hoping you don’t shoot yourself of boredom before its over. ( oh and lots of RL cash converted through gems if you are not a cheater and RMT I you are)

Other games = content based quests with goals and objectives requiring teamwork and the help of others (okay so gw2 is not this type of game I get that) but usually when seeking out to complete a legendary in other games there are side rewards along the way to victory.

In guildwars 2 instead of side rewards while working towards victory (precursor) there is nonstop feeling of defeat, hopelessness, questioning why am I spending so much of my Real World life on something that gives no joy or excitement and is more than likely not going to realistically happen because I’m just not lucky like some people. There is no attainable goal other than “the goal to get lucky”.

only fanboys and morons fail to see the problem here simply put. why does not everyone who puts in the EFFORT to make one DESERVE one hmm? explain. LOGICALY. you cant. everyone bought the game. everyone should have to put in the SAME amount of effort. not player A 1 day and player B 3 months. thats kitten just that.

it will NEVER be the case that everyone has a legRNGdary even if precusors where non RNG currently.

in 1-2 years maybe you will see lots of people having one but that argument does not really matter since guess what amount of more/cooler looking content may be added over that big timeframe that could require even more EFFORT to make?

currently tough generally speaking gw2s endgame (yes even wvw maybe except dungeons because of tokens) is way to much based on ingame currency like gold. thats just the perfect food spot for the goldsellers. can only hope anet will get away from this with time. its a bad design model today. you cannot beat these guys they are just to MANY. but you can DISARM them by reducing the NEED for what they offer.

fellyn you also dont have a clue. gosh kitten i hate it when people spread FALSE informations and as a proof link to an external database. i believe what i SEE ingame. not on some stupid database.

leRNGdarys ARE THE SAME 100% as exotics there are not better no matter what your stupid database links says.

and have a good look at it. because thats sunrise you can aswell preview it. and then come here and tell me again its not 100% the same as an lvl 80 exotic. this rumor of leRNGdarys being better than exotics is getting on my nerves theres really still people who believe it.

when someone figures this recipe out he will just start selling them stupidly overpriced instead of giving anyone hints or tips^^ just wait 3-6 months and then everyone will have access to it.

Legendary items do have better stats than exotics. It’s not a lot but its enough.

@ OP youre just plain wrong with what you say. defending rng mechanics is only done by people who got lucky already or are blindsided fanboys. gw2 has MANY issues currently in its endgame content and leRNGderys are one of them.

RARE has nothing do to with RNG. rng is a bad and lazy game mechanic to make people play the same thing again and again and again without rewarding them. best way to kill an mmo comm. just look what happend to aion back then. there where the same people like you on thier forums defending the RNG mess and look where that game is now. this happens if you make endgame based 100% on RNG.

face it the system is stupid by design. the dev who tought of this should simply be fired on the spot. sorry.

as title states. change was today. no mention in patchnotes. they are now half the size as before. it no longer looks cool now as a whole armor since the gloves are no way to big compared to before.

never seen anyone complain about this? why was this changed anet? and dont delcare it as bugfix. thats a lame excuse in this case since its just optical if you go this route you could do the same what nerfzzard did on d3. declare everything as bugfix even if its a straight nerf. changing such things in a game where style matters the most in the end without warning makes people ANGRY.

i say it again. its anets OWN fault for making endgame things so heavly based on ingame currency e.g. legrinderys.

anet MADE the market by themselfs. you cant win aganist these guys other games already proved that. you can only lessen thier influence on the game by making gold less useful entirely. thats the only thing anet can change. we will see if they will. otherwise goldbuyers win again.

look at lotro or aoc for example. they both have gold aswell as ingame curreny. but in the endgame large amounts of gold barely matter. all you need can be farmed by yourself without to much effort.
not the same in gw 2 with the current endgame.

change it. untie it from absurd gold amounts and you will see these guys lose influence. if players see they can make the needed amount of gold easily you eleminate the buying big time. people buy because it helps them save ABSURD amounts of mindless and boring farming.

face it guys. its ANETs OWN mistake to design endgame like legrinderys like this.
any endgame acitivity thats so much based on ingame curreny is FOOD for this market.

legendarys where ALL THE TIME about money alone guys if you still havent get this. so this doesnt really matter aslong as the process of making one is so heavily based on MONEY alone mostly.

does barely matter if you buy it or farm it with the current system anyways. so this thread is useless anyway until the entire process changes. theres only a few parts of a legendary you cant buy with stupid gold. and thats the 500 wvw thing the 500 instance thing (which both are easy to get compared to the gold amount) and the items needed which can only be bought with SP + the shards bought with karma. thats it. anything else is purely based on stupid gold and RNG anyway. bad design.

I don’t think he is saying the recipe is amazing as RNG really good way to do it but amazing hard due to the RNG and mats required its been well discussed in the guild and we all know Aion and its miragent craft etc had a member try 14 times! And we have plenty of member who have got shafted by it already in GW2 and are meh I give up on it.

As for the gold Firoz and Karasu busted thier balls on this and made a couple of thousand gold on the AH mainly by being slightly ahead of all the other Legendary crafters so were pretty much financed by all the others buying gems, getting guild help, asking for donations etc etc

The only real help they got from the guild was Dungeon groups, krama farming oh and 30 of us trying to unbug the temple when they got stuck there back on the 23rd of Sept when he should have got to craft his sword.

Other than that they did indeed do it all themselves in game and with out without real life money. lol infact they are both students who are perminatley broke and whine about it all the time mehaha glad I am old!

So yeah I understand your frustration at the rng element of this craft pretty much why I haven’t put any priority on it myself, might have one isn 6 months, might not…

miragent? lmao. if you tought THAT was bad you didnt play long enough^^ it got even worser later on on some parts…. never ever again i am wasting my lifetime with RNG mechanics. anet needs to change this. dont make the same mistake RNGsoft (your publisher) did with aion back then. best way to destroy a comm.

RNG will destroy peoples spend game time until they ragequit or get lucky. when this happend back in aion thousends of people quittet because if the retardness of this system. it does not reward effort or show any form of MASTERY lmao it just shows which people got lucky and which not or which people spend real money alot…. anet did really screw this up BIG time.

watch that price going even more insane as time progresses. some day it will even reach 500-1000g because of RNG alone.

designing endgame content based on RNG is only done by koreanes and complete kitten sorry anet but this is the sad truth. aion is the absolute proof that such a system will kill your comm in the long term.

dont take this post personally guys i dont have anything aganist you personally. i am just ultra disappointed by the look(i just dont find it special at all the weapon model itself is ugly and a cool effect is not worth that amount of luck and gold needed)
and the ultra stupid clueless poor design decsion made by anet to make something like the only real endgame content totally based on something like GOLD and stupid clueless RNG methods which pretty much kills it for me because after i wasted over 2 years on aion i am forever done with anything thats heavy RNG OR currency based since i HATE that like nothing else since that time and i am never gonna waste my freetime with such stupid mechanics ever again. its a bad game design choice on any endgame content.

the current form of getting a legendary has no future. thats already for sure. just wait it out. the nerf WILL come. it will come the second the majority of this games playerbase realizies how dumb the current RNG and curreny based legendary grind is and will cry and moan until they change it. so its only a matter of time.

i said it before and i am gonna say it again here : this game NEEDS imunity timers. one for each form of cc. nuff said.

the blindsided fanboys who will tell you to shut up and l2p are just that. blindsided fanboys that have mostly no clue at all. guys like these are everywere out there on any game. they are the real reason games getting worse and worse for every year since everything is FINE to such players. in reality they are just blindsided by marketing mostly.

anet needs to put in cc imunity timers for each form of cc. they dont need to be longer than 5-10 seconds each but they should be there from the get go. anyone who thinks stunlocking something or someone is skill is a complete kitten

if they fix it to only glow at night i am fine with it aslong as the instance share the day/night cycle. otherwise its pretty lame because you wont ever seen them glow in dungeons which is just plain sad :/ that was the main reason for my suggestion…

they are bugged to a degree currently this has been spotted by anet already according to an older thread here :/ cant find it atm found it through a google search…

the scripts on the weapons are unable to detect if it is night when you enter a zone. they are only able to detect a transtition between day and night it seems.

since most dungeons dont even have a night and day cycle the glow will only seen very very rarely. this was not a well tought out design outcome it seems like many things currently in gw2.

i would suggest changing thier mechanics entirely. so they start to glow whenever you enter a combat stance. this would make more sense actually since you can draw your weapon everywhere to see the glowing. the blue smoke effect only appears when you are in a combat stance no matter what time it is anyway.
i could live with the weapon always beeing normal when on my back.

sad to say atleast is that a fix soon for these is highly unlikely since its merely an optical issue and i doubt that these issues have a high priority currently compared to all the other bugs and issues that really harm gameplay.

never seen an lvl 80 exotic aqua helm not even on the TP. remember not all items from the database are currently in the game. most of them are but not all.

guys did you even realize that to get a legendary weapon you basicly need over 120g alone? these 120g beeing the NPC mats alone! add the ridiculous RNG part on top of that (hello clovers and legendary pre exotics which already sell for 150g+ for a REASON made by anet themselfs) you will highly likely easily bypass 300g on most of them if you are not super lucky.

if the current DR system stays anet must give other ways and options of aquiring the needed things for legendarys. otherwise its just moronic by thier OWN design.

RNG IS A BAD GAME DESIGN DESCISION. nuff said. if you think RNG is a good game mechanic please go play AION thanks. get it out of the legendary crafting completly it should be EFFORT based yes the pre exotics TOO. not LUCK based. thats kitten and extremly unfair in the first place. whoever tought of this as a good idea should be fired on the spot.

make legendarys based on EFFORT and have this effort be the SAME for ALL players who try to make them. not only for some lucky ones. thats stupid design for a devteam who said they are gonna break the old mmo rules. RNG is ONE of them. get it off the legendary crafting process entirely. make fixed recipe to get the pre exotics aswell. give the option to buy lodestones and other rare mats with wvw badgets and instance tokens aswell. so players dont have to rely on buying gold or wasting thier time with RNG and can actually PLAY and have fun while working towards it.

this thread is just another PROOF why RNG is a truely bad game design descision. i really hope someday anet will consider making a way to get the things needed for legendary by 100% chance. even if it takes forever i rather fram triple the amount of ori ingots than even try to mess with RNG ever again after playing aion tower of RNG back then.

this is a game. it shouldnt act as colorful SLOTMASCHINE. get rid if this RNG bs please.
you said yourself you are gonna break the rules of old mmo mechanics. so get rid of these aswell. they just suck the fun out of the game. its the main reason i will never bother to make legendarys. because even if you WIN at rng after a extremly long time the day with that expansion/content patch will come and destroy your work by introducing something much cooler.

after aion i decided to never bother with RNG based rewards ever again. this a kitten mechanic.

please you guys at anet. there is one thing you can still do to improve performance CLIENT wise with ease for big battles.

put in the option namend “effects SELF” so a player who enables this will only see effects of thier OWN character. this would help a BIG deal with client performance on large battles esp. for the ones not having super highend pcs. nearly every game i played had this option for large scale fights.

i dont need to see every kittening fireball used on a big battlefield to have fun. be able to SEE my enemies and have less lag is way more important than that.

and also since its a option every player can DECIDE by themselfs if they want that or not. theres virtually NO reason to not include such an options in the menü.

i can run the game just fine execept the moments when really large amounts of people are in the same place. making an option liks this with a quick way to trigger it would help ALOT in therms of client performance.

please patch this in.

i made a thread about legendaries but the same could be done to cultural t3 armors aswell to some degree. i also dislike the gold > anything we have currently. but changing or removeing it seems to be not about right. have a look.

i made a post in suggestion forums considering legendarys and the “grind” faktor in it. while i think to a certain degree you need some sort of “grind” it should be the player decides which he wants to do. feel free to comment there^^

oh i didnt include spvp here since its completly seperated from the rest of the game and i am not even sure if you can get legendary styles in spvp.

now to the examples :

for example you could get a gift of battle ASWELL from farming lets say 2000 instance tokens of a certain instance. this could be refined to use either ANY instance or a specific one.

OR you could get it from lets say bringing FOUR jobs to max level.

the same should be done with all of the other gifts aswell OR the materials needed to create them.

the same goes for the legendary pre rare exotics that are needed. make them gettable via instance tokens a specific recipe in the mystic forge or via karma. give OPTIONS.

of course these ways all need to be balanced to a certain degree but it would the players allow to play want they LIKE the most of the games content to get the legendary in the end. it will still take them a lot of time to get one. thats how it should be.

the same goes for the ice runestones currently needed to craft a legendary. 100 of them cost a whoping 100 gold. keep this at it is but also offer other way to get those. via instance tokens (not ONE token of course would be to easy) or via wvw badgets or via karma. give OPTIONS.

same goes for the gift of exploration tough i actually like they way to get them this shouldnt be the only one.
make it purcasable by wvw badgets aswell but not 500 lets say 1000 or something like that so that the time investment is atleast around the same as exploring the entire pve world 100%

make some of the rarer crafting mats purchasble via karma oder via instance tokens in return make the karma shards gettable otherwise aswell.

could also give a gift of choice for doing all explorer modes of ALL instances in the game for example.
make mystic clovers gettable via skill points from the vendor directly or also from instance tokens.

i hope you guys now realize that i just want to have more OPTIONS to reach the goal at the end. it shoudlnt be faster to get than currently in terms of game hours invested it should just allow me to CHOOSE which route i want to follow to get the items needed. it should allow to decide if i want to risk my luck and a get a bit faster to my goal or take the maybe a bit longer but safer route.

some people love to do wvw some do love to do pve instances etc etc. you get what i mean i hope. everyone could play what THEY like the most and still earn thier reward at the end without getting it handed out. something smiliar could be done to cultural armor sets aswell to some degree (have seen people arguing about thier gold prices aswell here).

yes i know some day this would lead to many people having a legendary but by that time i am sure we will already see many new content added to the game even new high effort based things. keep this in mind.

i am not a native english speaker so please forgive any grammer issues or other typos and i hope you can unterstand what i am trying to bring up here.

before you are reading what i am typing now please remember this is just a suggestion on my part since i want the game to stay entertaining and not become a mindless gold grinder to some degree. i dont want anything to get handed out to easily either i dont mind inveting many hours to get something unless its boring as crap.
i dont wann start a flame war here. i am just trying to give the developers at anet IDEAS. theres no need to make it excatly like i suggest them now these will be just examples.

also this suggestions would take care of the botting problems to a degree since removing the dependancy on so many gold removes the need to have many gold entirely which in the end will discourage buying it.

first lets look at the current situation we have now :

theres many people already that have seen and want a legendary weapon or even two of em.
currently you need already many items to build your own legendary weapon and have to meet certain conditions also in the world. these items are called “gifts of XXXX”
i am not gonna list everything need to build a legendary here now since this is already well known around the web by now.

first things first : everyone SHOULD be able to get a legendary for thier character IF they are willing to put in a certain amount of EFFORT. it should never be dependant to something like pure dumb luck (mystic clovers/legendary pre named exotics e.g dusk of rage or wvw badgets which are also pretty random) or dependant on pure ingame curreny like it is currently the case. everyone should be able to get one with the SAME amount of effort put it no matter what they like or dedice do to more.

currently some people just LUCK out and get something like this 10x faster than others this system is just not very fair and it frustrates to some kind. yes i know this mechanik was used in many mmos of the past to some degree but as anet stated long before release they wanted to “break” the old rules set by most mmos. so please dont argue about this. you can still keep an item rare without the dumb mechanics of outdated RNG methods.

i am not saying remove current method as it would ruin the effort already put in by some players by now. just more OPTIONS.

what i want to suggest here is that the game should give the players more OPTIONS to acquire the gifts/pre exotics needed to craft the item at the end. all currently availble options can stay as well no need to remove them for now. so players who already put in a certain effort (including myself -.-) dont lose it.

remember these are just examples what anet could offer as options.

an example.

you need the gift of battle. currently you have to grind 500 wvw badges to get this thing. you can either mindlessly grind the jumping puzzles for weeks on end or do wvw normally and hope to get lucky with the drops of these.

some people can not particpate in wvw very well due to the poor performance or some older computers. so it would be fair to offer another option to get this item via pve for example.

remember these are NOT final values just examples given by me to make you unterstand what i want. they need to be balanced accordingly of course. theres no need to add a ton of new content to get these changes working just changing some things around and adding to lists. not even a need to change the final recipe in the forge at the end.

to many things are currently heavyly gold based. legendarys beeing one of the big examples. cultural armors another one.

get rid of this stupid gold dependant mechanics and it will remove the need to buy gold to ever get something like a legendary. there are definitly better way to make items gettable without them beeing a gold grind.
