The bit of the map we got to play is great, but I felt that the mobs are a bit too easy. I like the bounty concept and they felt challenging enough (small group). The mount animations are great, love it! Music was on point and map looks amazing.

I don’t think you’ll be able to see them this weekend. That said, we do have another preview event next week (August 18-20) for elite specs only. In that weekend you’ll be able to test them all out yourself in WvW and PvP.

I am not sure if you are still in search of a guild or not, but I wanted to take my time to advertise GSD to you still.

GSD, or Guardians of the Silver Dragons is a small but capable guild that enjoys all game modes in the game. We aim to be a place that you can call “home”, where you can be who you are or want to be, without too much drama.

To help out our members and more easily organise things, we have various tools at our disposal. For example a website, TS3 server, Minecraft server and two WhatsApp groups (for LFG and during the day chat).

Gliding is one of them. All the masteries that aren’t central tyria masteries are exclusive to HoT. Mounts will be exclusive to PoF even though they can be used in central tyria.

Were have they said they can be used in core tyria?
The video they specificly said it should feel exiting to move across the elonan desert in a variety of ways when speaking of mounts.

Dont sound like we will use them in core or hot mate.

They actually did confirm that you can use mounts in Core Tyria maps. Roy Cronacher said as much on his Twitter account;

“I’ve gotten a few questions about this: Mounts will be useable in the open world zones across Tyria, not just Path of Fire maps”

Just for your information, you can’t currently use the pass yet. You have to play the first episode of the expansion first in order to use it (or so it says ingame). So if you go for the ultimate version for the pass, you would have to wait a month and 22 days (at least).

“This item will not activate until after you have completed Chapter 1 of the Path of Fire story.”

Oh! Love your work! Would there be a difference in price between traditional or digital? Also the cost of 350 is for just one character, I assume?

Happening here as well. It could be related to them fixing the issues players experienced when having German Text ingame (People with German Text crashed upon opening the gemstore earlier this weekend). So it’s a possibility that they took it down to fix that issue, or the issue has spread ..

I am very new to GW2. I’ve been reading about the Living World (LW) but am not sure I understand, so I have some questions.

First, is the LW just an evolving story line that GW2 developers create? How is it different , if at all, from new content that’s added to other MMO’s?

And how is the LW different from an add-on like HoT? Is it just that you don’t have to pay extra for the LW additional content?

Finally, I’ve read places that say that LW episode 1 is not available to play? Is that right? If it is correct, will I be able to play LW episodes 2 and 3? Even if I am able to play episodes 2 and 3 without having played 1, how will i understand the story if I’ve missed the first episode?

The Living World is indeed an evolving story line that the developers create and drop into the game. You could look at these as a televion show, in the sense that you recieve “episodes” of the story at certain intervals. The Living World brings in new story, new NPCS, sometimes new maps, and changes to the world.

As others already explained, during the first season it was truly a Living World. Every two weeks we would recieve a new update that brought visual changes to the world, with meta events (bringing permanent changes to several maps as well, ex Kessex Hills).

The Living World continues the story after the Personal Story, with season 1 and 2 leading up to the expansion. After the expansion story you have season 3, which will be released next week. An expansion generally brings in more features and maps, alongside story, whereas Living World has a larger focus on the story part itself. The Living World are also free updates, as long as you log in when they are active ingame.

Living World S1 isn’t available anymore, unfortunately, but there is a cutscene ingame (Lion’s Arch) which will show you the bits you need to understand season 2 and onward. Season 2 can be bought on the gemstore atm (if you don’t have it) and currently has a discount. As long as you log on during the releases of the 3rd season, you will unlock it for your account and you can play it at a later date.

For me the summer update will be important. In it’s current state I am everything but happy about the game, especially the WvW part. When there would be a big fix to this, I will definitely stay along and play it more.

If they are following the same pattern as they did before, the Summer Update should hit us next Tuesday (end of PvP Season). Last time, for the Spring Update, they didn’t release any information before the patch other than a few small teasers. The teasers they posted were uploaded on the Friday and Monday (Twitter) prior to the patch.

MO told us that they wouldn’t be sharing a lot of information anymore because, rather then hyping us up or giving us promises, he wants us to just log on and see what they shipped, when it’s ready. This way we wouldn’t be disappointed, the devs can be proud of the content they made and we can be proud of the game.

So it’s possible that we’ll see some small teasers going up today / next Monday, but we probably shouldn’t expect anything large (information wise).

I’d personally expect some small teasers for LS3 when it starts, but maybe they decided it’s better to release that 2 weeks after the Summer Patch. We’ll just have to wait and see, I suppose.

I already posted a few suggestions in another post but what I would personally love to see are the following;

Portals/Asura Gates

A portal or Asura Gate of which you have an “entry point” and an “exit point”. I simply think that this would make traversing the Guild Hall faster and much more fun. When I explored both of the Guild Halls I found a lot of nice, hidden places but they aren’t easy to get to unfortunately.

Now, it being hidden does add “value” to the places in a sense but if you decide to decorate that spot and have to travel more than 10 minutes to get there every time you enter the Guild Hall, the fun rapidly dies :/

Books/Library

Another think I always thought was quite interesting is having bookshelves similar to the ones we already have but with … actual books! You know, ones you can read! If you enter the Durman Priory you will find several books with interesting tid-bits of lore to read, wouldn’t it be simply amazing being able to build your own library with a few books telling the past living story events? This could also be an interesting way to give us shortstories (like they used to before) but ingame, instead of on the website (though it would limit the accessibility for players :/ )

Actually, there are a couple other decorations we can interact with, one being the delux vine wall where we can turn the flowers on and off, the delux wyvern statue can turn the smoke on and off, and the lunar firecrackers give you an effect for a short time.

There are other examples of objects we can interact with in game, a Sylvari flower/lamp in Caithe’s home, a few objects out there that make us perform emotes, then there are the two pipe organs that we can play music on (needs some updates cause they’re kinda clunky atm lol)

Small destructibles? There are some kegs in a Human personal story step and quite a few “structures” we smash along the way have animations for getting smashed, all of them are potential items that could be placed with interactions. I like it

Yes, there are a few you can interact with already, true! The Snow Maker and Jack-‘o-lanterns being some others. I just think it’d be nice having a few more decorations you can interact with, as (for me) it would make it more engaging

I personally thing the Guild Halls and the decorations have a lot of potential, it just isn’t fully used yet. There are quite a lot of decorations ingame that you interract with, it’s just a matter of finding them and implementing them to be used as decorations (probably not as easy as I make it sound).

If the decoration cap would be higher, it’d be nice having some smaller decorations as well simply to add more detail (mugs, buckets, pots, books …). With the current decoration cap it would probably take too large a chunk of the decorations you can play, unfortunately.

And again, I’d really love having a way to experience the past story somehow. I know we have the journal, which is great, but some people haven’t played season one. The recap video helps, but I just think it could be a nice idea to have a library shelf with a few books telling what happened. (Just one, or a few, decorations with let’s say 5-6 books you can interract with; Living World Library shelf 1).

Or what about some Zephyr Sanctum related decorations (could be a nice idea for a Guild Hall too actually)? Another thing that I think could be interesting is having some sort of “teleportation-platform” or an elevator. Something you can place twice, with a starting point and end point. This would make it easier to travel through the Guild Halls, especially to the “hidden” locations (such as the top of the Guild Hall, or the many hidden buildings).

According to the wiki you should be able to double-click it; “Double-click to access a vendor that accepts tickets in exchange for a miniature of your choice. The ticket is consumed after choosing a miniature.”

Maybe try relogging or try it on a different character? If neither of those options works I recommend trying customer support.

This is pretty great! I was planning on making a similar post myself but haven’t gotten around to it yet (busy .. exams this week!).

I’d personally love having more wall decortions such as paintings and rugs/carpets as well. I think the Guild Halls are great but they could use a few more decorations and maybe a higher decoration limit (I mean .. those halls are quite big).

Having decorations you can interact with could be interesting too, or maybe some small miniature decorations (like during Wintersday) that you can smash to little pieces? ^^

I think, going forward, it could also be interesting to have living world / story related items as decorations. Something like a token to remember what happened, or a library with a few books you can interact with (like in Durmand Priory) telling you a few stories?

I am from Belgium myself and I really appreciate this gesture. My thoughts are with the families who lost someone, the people who were involved and everyone else in both Belgium as outside our borders.

Unfortunately there are attacks similar to this on a regulary basis, though not all of them will recieve media coverage. Let’s not forget about all the others who suffer from similar attacks and wars. This is a time to unite, come together and pray so we may all live in a peaceful world.

We are all human in the end, we are all family and no matter who is suffering or where, we are all somehow affected by it and connected. Let’s not forget that, and let’s not act out of hate but out of love.

Yeah, I love the Guild Halls in general and the features it brings + the potential it has. There are a lot of things they can implement with Guild halls and for me, it was a major selling point.

I get that upgrading your Guild Hall should be something that happens over time, so I don’t specifically mind the upgrading cost for the buildings or upgrades on its own. Scribing and crafting decorations, however, is rather expensive; especially for the one doing the scribing.

I’d love to have the Guild Anthems ingame, as it was a feature I was very much looking forward to. Hopefully we’ll get some news on this soon, so that our Anthems might sound loud and clear in the beautiful world of Tyria!

I suppose there still hasn’t been any news on this? Would be lovely to see it in the upcoming patch … :/

I had the same problem, after various attempts to join I managed to sneak in. It does seem to be bugged but in my, and my guildies, experience you can get in if you try to join several times.

No idea if it comes with the additional exploration unlock or not, but just as you I’d really like to have those anthems :P

I really looked forward having those and seeing that it is in the permission tab does imply that it should be ingame, or at least soon.

I’ve been wondering this as well, as it’s a feature I really looked forward to. Does anyone happen to have tavern restoration 2 unlocked (the actual building)?

You have to select the “Dragonhunter” specialisation in your build first, this can only be placed in the bottom line. (Previously called traits)

If you don’t actively use the Dragonhunter specialisation line, you can’t equip the new weapon and can’t use the new skills.

Same thing happened to us today

When we did Guild Rush last Friday another guild had interacted with the flag, thus ‘owning’ the guild rush. As my guild had the rush activated as well (in Guild Panel) we simply ran with them to get 15/15. After the Rush was completed, we got a message (just like with the old system) whether or not we wanted to accept credit.

Long story short, we did not have the issue that you seemed to have. All my guild members got their rewards and so did the guild, for participating in a Guild Rush that we did not ‘start’.

I have the same issue. I got a mail that was good for 200 000 influence, but it failed to convert :/

Soon commander tags will have a completely new UI, with the new squad functionality. For raids and WvW the new squad functionality will be really useful as it gives commanders and the entire squad new tools to use.

During BW3, when we were able to test the new squad UI (coming in a few weeks) commanders did have a visual indiciation. Just like with Mentor now, when a commander would speak it would simply put “commander” in front of their name.

So I believe you will get this feature soon, when they release the first raid wing and the commander UI.

We claimed Gilded Hallow with 10 players on Friday, it went just fine for us.

You need to have a Guild Hall and a war room in your Guild Hall, in order to claim objectives for your guild. Once you have these, your guild can also craft consumables to upgrade the objectives.

Not entirely sure on the War Room though.

The first raid wing will contain 3-4 raid encounters and will be released in a few weeks from now, before the holidays.

We will have one full raid eventually, consisting of 3 raid wings. Raid wing 2 and 3 will be released in 2016. There will be a huge release for the second raid wing in early 2016.

On the good news side – guild missions reset 3 days after the launch of HoT, so at most you’re waiting 3 days if you’re not interested in doing the launch day missions. Just make sure to set your guilds preferences in those first 3 days!

1. What is the specific day and time (PST) that the launch missions will reset? 3 days later is not specific enough to plan around.

2. After the launch missions reset 3 days later, what day of the week and time (PST) will guild missions reset on a weekly basis? This will be very helpful for planning. Thanks!

Though due to some techical issues, they are changing it with the expansion instead of October 5.

How will the rewards for guild missions work, for let’s say PvP and WvW missions? As to my understanding a PvP team excists of 5 players and quite a lot of guilds have members from different servers.

Can people from multiple servers contribute to one WvW mission and will they all get a reward, even if it gets completed on one server first? And will all players gain rewards for the PvP missions, even if they are spread out over multiple teams?

When the game originally launched in 2012 we were primarily a Dutch-speaking guild but quickly came to accept other members as well. They won’t have a stat boost, as stated on the HoT website. They will have the same stats as ascended gear but you will be able to change the stats on the go, provided you are out of combat.

They have always stated that they don’t want a new tier of gear with the expansion and they are sticking to that idea which is rather great IMO.

Apparently legendary armor is coming as part of the rewards of raids! Just in case people missed this

ARMOR
As part of rewards for raids, we’re introducing legendary armor. Conquering raid content will earn you the pieces to build legendary precursor armors, which can be forged into legendary heavy, medium, and light armor sets. Like legendary weapons, these pieces will have the same stats as ascended armor; you’ll be able to change the armor stats out of combat and dazzle your friends with your sense of style, but you won’t have a statistical edge. Endless tiers of gear grind to stay raid relevant have no place in Guild Wars 2.
