Really? I don’t know then. It’s always been for me that I wasn’t able to rearrange a utility skill on cooldown.
Don’t know what these other people are talking about, but you are definitely correct. You couldn’t swap a skill when it was on cooldown. Cool to hear you can now!
I can’t believe this thread is so long
who doesn’t have swiftness/speed boost? Topic title is a lie
New skills aren’t something they add randomly. You’ll only see brand new skills in the next expansion.
I believe it only drops from a Gauntlet Chance acquired from the Queen’s Gauntlet which is only active when The Crown Pavilion is open.
The NPCs not fighting is a bug. They used to fight when the epsiode first launched. It’s been highlighted by quite a few people but no fix yet.
I repeated the instance today for the rewards on my thief and i thought it was hard at first and it did reset on me because I got too far away which sucked. But the fight was actually quite easy. I was able to repeatedly break his defiance bar and burn him down. Perhaps it was my mobility as a thief but I could fight in melee range until he popped a swarm on top of himself. It took too long to be considered fun, but I think if the NPCs were fixed it wouldn’t feel as long. It’s quite easy not to die even on a zerk thief.

It might be worth noting the achievements you can do for ascended items too. Luminesence collection is surprisingly quick if you enjoy farming SW. Not sure how quick the Leystone armour collection is.
Also, are the ascended trinkets gained from completing story achievements salvageable?
when you maxed maguma hot masteries you need to do 1 raid boss to unlock the last mastery line and after that is exped up you gain spirit shards for each level up after that.
If you dont do one raid boss you gain nothing.
I’m assuming you mean you’ve unlocked Forsaken Thicket but not killed a boss or something? Cause I have completed all masteries but haven’t unlocked Forsaken Thicket and I get spirit shards.
Came looking for an answer to this and glad it’s a big and not how it’s intended. I am replaying the story on another character and could have sworn I remember the NPCs attacking every god kitten mob in the labyrinth, but this time nothing? When I got to the boss I couldn’t believe they were just following after me… took me ages to kill him. If you say this is all the story instances so help me God.
I’m a bit confused about why getting exp has anything to do with raids? Can someone explain
I won’t repeat anything that’s already been said but one thing you may struggle with is getting enough Core tyria mastery points to max out your core tyria masteries if you don’t already have a lot of old achievements. The karka hunting in LA might be one to do, the LS2 achievements and Silverwastes legendaries.
Exp will just come to you by enjoying the game!
I see people in bloodstone fen quite frequently, but I’ve never looked for a squad. I just do the events that pop up. I’m not sure why you’d need a squad to farm there. Just watch the events being called out in map chat.
Yeah people are still there a lot, but there used to be a cleric farm that would often be on LFG as there were often cleric farm oriented maps. I’m just wondering if they nerfed this farm or something that it seems to appear less on LFG?
Have people stopped farming Bloodstone Fen for some reason tben? As whilst I’ve never seen squads for Ember and Bitterfrost it used to be quite a common thing in Bloodstone.
I, too, would like LS S1 back. Some of my most enjoyable times in GW2 were playing that content. They have so many reasons to bring it back too, in my opinion it should be a priority but we’ve all seen that ANet do not have their priorities straight.
It shouldn’t be a choice. They have managed their time and man power badly and we should have at least 4-6 legendary weapons by now in my opinion. They should have all come out with HoT truthfully but the expansion couldn’t have waited any longer.
I’d say a class that’s new to you. It’s always more fun when you’re learning new stuff whilst you go through events. I played my guardian through HoT originally, then used the areas to learn Daredevil and Revenant.
It’s way too punishing. It’s also buggy. I did fractals 2-6-10 with a group (no leaving for all that time) then left, pressed to join a party for the the next tier and got banned from joining groups immediately as I clicked it. Had to reload the game to fix it. Not working as intended!
- LS Season 1 in the journal (not gonna happen as it hasn’t been mentioned but hey ho, I personally believe this is something that should already be in the game)
- LS Season 3 returns
- All set 2 legendaries revealed (I thought this was a no brainer but apparently it doesn’t look like it’ll happen now)
- A new fractal or two
Probably more.
I’d really like to be on a map that just once does the blighting towers by doing the full mechanics rather than circle zerg it.
Anyway, yes I do wish more people would WP.
What do you mean by this?
Thanks for this post. I think a lot of people need to realise that adventures themselves were a great edition to the game. The issue is that collections and masteries are gated behind them. The adventures should be purely for fun and I don’t think they ever needed to have mastery points behind them to make people do them.
Some need tweaking like you said, and I’d like to see the gated stuff removed but I doubt they can do that now.
I know what OP means. There are a lot of NPCs with terrible attenuation radius. This is a basic skill that whoever does this in GW2 obviously can’t do or doesn’t bother to refine.
In the HoT story, they made it so you can walk super far and hear them, but it then suddenly cuts out.
In the new zones it’s very noticeable on those musicians in Verdant Brink at (I think) Faren Flyer’s WP.
Am I the only one that’s annoyed by this? I mean really… Guild wars is mostly about playing in an open world, right? Therefore you seek parties, that are well organized and have decent commanders.
I’ve never seen the point of joining parties for open-world content .. meaning anyone can take part in it .. why bother?
Taxing people into more populated maps for big meta events.
Has this suspension always been in the game and they’ve updated it recently? Whatever they’ve done, it’s gotten too strict, and it’s also bugging out.
As long as taxing exists, they need to increase the amount of parties you can leave and join before you get this suspension.
And as I mentioned, it’s slightly buggy. I got suspended after leaving my guild fractal party to join a 21+ party in LFG . I pressed “Join” and instantly got suspended and not added to the party. Every time it lifted I was suspended again. I had to close and open the game to fix it.
Why do they solve the problem like this? You don’t amend things to cater such a dynamic economy. They should just make cloth nodes, end of.
Prior to the last few days, I’d never noticed this suspension. Have they decreased the amount of joins it takes to get this suspension in last patch? Or has it bugged out a bit?
Because it was also telling me when I pressed Join that I was now banned (without adding me to the party). Relogging fixed this.
But yeah, never really seen this till recently and now I’ve been suspended whilst joining a handful of different parties for taxi-ing.
Claw of Jormag is up there for me. It’s meant to be epic but it’s just irritating and boring. The fear and knockdowns aren’t fun and I’d love to see a rework of it.
I really don’t see much of a problem here. It’s barely inconvenient for me to merch the green sigils and runes when I salvage gear with my Copper Salvage-O-Matic. I can’t say they’ve ever filled up my inventory and I’ve not been able to just visit a merchant…
And then I mystic forge rare runes/sigils to get exotic ones.
Yes, I would prefer armour skins over outfits.
But no, I still wouldn’t have bought 90% of the gem store outfits if they were skins.
But I’d like to see both systems. I think the outfit system is cool and can let them create really awesome looks they may not be able to create as armour skins (because of having to check for clipping issues). But I’d definitely like to see more armour skins introduced and not just outfits as I prefer mix-and-match outfits.
Windows 10 - KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: sazberryftw.3809
Hi,
Earlier today I closed GW2 and got a bluescreen error saying “KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE”. I use Windows 10.
The reason I’m posting it here is that now I’ve come back to my laptop and tried to play GW2, it’s slow to the point that it’s unplayable, and the lag is even greater when I use the mouse (right or left click to move camera).
I’ve googled about this error and it’s all very confusing to find a solution. I wanted to know if anyone has experienced this error after or during playing GW2 or if anyone knows anything about why it might have happened and if it could be affecting GW2.
I’m just worried at the time scope for the things on this list. Looking ahead, Living Story Season 3? How far ahead? Next quarter I hope, cause we need it. What if it’s next year? That’s insane.
I hope when Colin said they want to share time out equally to all areas and develop existing areas of the game instead of adding any he meant we’d see something substantial for each area every quarter.
I think the DS meta event is good fun. I don’t feel that it needs to be changed drastically in any way.
But I agree the rush at the end is stupid. I don’t know why they can’t just close the map later. I would prefer to not have to choose between running for pods or working out how to get to the HP at the end. I’d simply like to just have time to explore the area after the meta too.
Also, while I don’t think it’s crazy to put mobs near the pods, I do agree the choice of Smokescales, Bristlebacks and Rolling Devils is ludicrous. ESPECIALLY when you’re against the clock. It’s as if they want you to limit you to your loot and kill you just so you miss out. It’s a true kick in the face at the end of completing such a triumphant event. I don’t see an issue with making it mob free though, because AB chests in Tarir are.
As stated in the blog, this patch will be in 2 weeks, on the 26th.
“Good news—today I’m going to tell you all the big additions in our first major seasonal update: the Guild Wars 2 Winter 2016 update, which will be arriving on January 26!”
Ah okay thanks.
So when is the first patch for this stuff? For some reason I thought we were getting stuff today when the blog post came out.
I am yet to finish the Heart of Thorns story so please don’t include any info from it here!
Hey guys,
I don’t know if anyone remembers but in Living Story Season 2 (or perhaps in season 1?) it was mentioned there was a royal locket that was very powerful and held an image of the heir to the Krytan throne. Did we ever get this tangent wrapped up?
I’m not sure if I missed a point in the story where this was explained. Was it just something to do with it holding a lot of magic and therefore desirable to Mordremoth/dragons?
Or did this just get mentioned then never revisited?
Easy mode: Get out a calculator and calculate 75% of your health pool (Health multiplies by 0.75). Press the heal when you first reach this value. Now you will win without the mastery.
ANet shouldn’t change recipes based on the cost of items on the Trading Post. This is because the TP is a player market and prices can change yearly, monthly, daily or possibly hourly.
They did this with silk, and look what happened there.
If the issue is the drop rate, that is something ANet can change. If the issue is simply players don’t go out of their way to farm lemongrass and thus less players sell it then ANet definitely shouldn’t change the recipe.
All I see is a bunch of things HoT gave us with no comparison to anything in EotN? OP’s main post makes out you’re for HoT not against…
How can people still be caught up comparing GW2 to GW1 content? People need to take their nostalgia hats off and look at GW1 for what it really is. Both GW2 and HoT are not perfect and there’s things I want to see and changes I want to see, but going back in time is not the right direction here.
A few things we may think we like about GW1/EotN but really we didn’t:
- All those skills they added and being able to pick whichever whoever you are. In comparison to GW2, this just meant GW1 had MORE useless skills that nobody used. It rarely created build diversity and there was still a meta.
- All those quests you mentioned. We were given “124 new quests” that all consisted of boring text windows with side info.
- More regions. Less diverse and complex zones. Essentially single player. Flat.
I loved GW1 and I loved EotN. I had a lot of fun back then, I played it as avidly as I do GW2 now. But do I want a EotN style expansion for GW2? Hell no. We’re in 2016, I don’t want that old MMO crap.
On a list, HoT may have ‘less content’ but just look at how complex and detailed that content is. Sure, the story telling was damp and we want more fractals but just LOOK at how diverse and incredible the 4 Maguma zones are. HOW can you compare those zones to EotN’s flat, idle, empty map design?
The only thing HoT should be compared to is similar games on the market right now, today, up to date.
It’s nice to see some constructive feedback amidst the rage.
I won’t touch on PvP as I haven’t touched it since HoT and wasn’t a big PvPer before either.
I don’t agree with bringing heart quests back. They were boring for me, especially repeating them on more than one character. I like that events aren’t (really) mandatory for map completion in zones in HoT, I feel it makes them feel more living even though the events just repeat. But I agree that hearts maybe added a level of story telling to a map and maybe they needed to find a different way to do this in HoT, but i don’t think heart quests were ever the way forward.
I agree levelling Maguma masteries outside of HoT content would be nice. Maybe because right now there are more Maguma masteries than core, yet there’s more content for core than Maguma. So it feels very out weighted. They should have envisioned this really, and I imagine with future content added to Maguma it will level out, unless they add more masteries (but waiting for new maps is not an excuse).
Shame there was no new fractals. And it’s worrying that each fractal number now has its own allocated fractal, meaning they may not intend to add any more any time soon. By they have a fractals team now so perhaps…
Can’t comments on raids as I haven’t tried it yet, but it’s hard to blame the meta on ANet. No matter how they balance the classes, players will always find the most efficient way to do something and the most needed aspects of certain classes. It’s very difficult to design a raid that is fair to every class. They are trying very hard to do that, I imagine. But raids are hard and so the loudest player base will want the most efficient people to do it with. I am sure you will be able to find some people willing to have a go at it with what you want to play. But when it comes down to it, there is a meta for a reason and it’s because theyve learnt how to do it and the meta is the best way to tackle it.
This could be due to the fact that he was not visible for 90% of the fight (presumably a bug).
You need the Nuhoch Stealth Detection mastery to see him when he’s in that mode. Hitting him with CC reveals him and if he’s revealed in time no one will get insta-downed.
Doesn’t really get explained unfortunately unless you ask a fellow player…
What websites are lying?
Assumed they meant ANet news prior to new legendary system releasing.
(edited by sazberryftw.3809)
Just to ask, did they ever claim legendaries would be less expensive than they were previously? They’ve just made the system feel more rewarding and more progressive than before. In fact it’s cheaper as far as I’m aware because you don’t have to outright buy a precursor off the TP.
New Legendaries no aura effect, seriously?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: sazberryftw.3809
The old legendaries had auras? What?
As someone who prefers mix and match I don’t care for buying outfits, but they should definitely keep making them. Outfits allow for them to create armour sets without having to worry about how each piece would fit with every other armour piece in the game. This allows for quicker release and more creative freedom.
Provided that outfits don’t replace the release of individual armour skins I am happy for them to exist. And who knows, I might like one of the outfits fully one day!
After dabbling in SWTOR the other week when a friend wanted me to join in playing it with them, I realised a few things I take for granted in GW2.
- Dodging
- The dynamic combat system
- The scrapping of the old quest system
- Our Hero panel and inventory UI
- Our vast customisation system
I’m hoping we’ll get a bunch more hairstyles, colours and everything that aren’t just style-kit exclusive.
First of all, they didn’t announce every feature. I’m pretty sure what they mentioned isn’t the be-all end-all.
- Ofc it’s not a Cantha/Elona expansion, the story was CLEARLY never going in that direction. Did anyone really think they were just going to spin us around to Elona at the last minute?
- Yes, they told us about going into Maguuma, but they didn’t say, “and no where else”.
- It does contain GvG – that’s pretty much what the PvP announcement was.
- They very much mentioned raids and made it very clear they’re not doing raids in the traditional sense. But their brief explanation of the direction for the open world content sounded very raid-esque.
- No new race was written into the story enough. I’m not saying I wouldn’t have liked it but I wasn’t expecting it.
Duh.

This is what it should look like when it’s tidy. I am lacking rocks and ogre pet whistles.
Can’t seem to let go of that toilet paper.
(edited by sazberryftw.3809)
1. Season 1 being implemented into the journal.
2. As many new zones as the original game gave us, with land expansion in other areas than the Maguuma Jungle.
3. A new class, or some impressive additions to the ones we have.
4. A handful (or more would be nice) of new dungeons, similar to what we have but improved in ways the current dungeons are flawed. And these dungeons to bring new token rewards and new mechanics we’ve not seen in dungeons before.
5. Some nice overhauls to WvW and new sPvP maps.
6. New legendaries – maybe a new ‘tier’ (not in terms of stats, but in terms of difficultly to acquire).
@Lucos
I hope we get Legendary armour SKINS. Same stats as ascended, just skins. No more tiers please!
Yeah you have a nice point here.
I’ve always thought the line, “Pleading silent arias gently grieving in captive misery”, described Zhaitan’s minions very well though.
