I believe if you do CTRL + Shift + H you’ll get high rez without any game mechanics clutter to do a brighter more vibrant screen shot.

I just did the math on what I’ve spent on upgrades, siege, etc …. In the two months or so that I’ve been WvWing I spend easily 5g a day, seven days a week (today i spent 18 gold, but thats not the norm) …… So about 300 gold, donated out of pocket, gladly, to help my server. I’m not alone spending that much either. I think the resentment likely comes from folks who donate that much day after day, week after week, and someone else is unwilling donate what amounts to a few silver to help support the community effort.

Nobody is obligated to help or do anything in WvW, so while I’m a litte put off at the idea of selling and not donating, I can also appreciate that other people view it differently. It really is a matter of scruples, I suppose.

Naw it won’t … the siege griefers typically use the keep/tower supply anyhow.

Someone’s been lying to you. EoTM in fact does not count towards pop count. The devs have said that on numerous occasions.

You realize of course that poll was massively trolled. A call out to troll it was on the cancer forums. Any serious wvw players knew what a horrible idea it was, the fact that ANET didn’t is just….sad.

Oh I do defense. It’s my favourite aspect of wvw. But I don’t do it for ppt.

I’m not sure I have faith in someone’s assessment who’s only been at Anet a few months.

You’ll have to wait seven days to transfer back .. but yes it’s doable. I almost did it myself, but then I decided to stay and fight in WvW and help my server. Wound up getting all my pois, just had to be patient and pitch in. And I had to wait nearly three weeks to get all my map completion, but once in, I’m now hooked on WvW because it’s a very interesting aspect of this game.

You’ll feel better about yourself too if you help with the fight .. go into map and stay a couple hours. They change all the time and if you stay you’ll likely get your missing pois and vista.

Ok I’m getting the same thing tonight for the first time .. I googled to see if I could find a solution, but all I found was a guy on youtube who documented it .. this is what it sounds like:

Looks like we’re not alone either. It appears to happen, for me at least, during WvW zergs with a lot of players, but I also had it happen on WvW map when I used a WP. So not sure it’s population-driven.

You need to let this go. WvW was never meant to be balanced. The devs themselves have said this many times over the past four years.

With the new release of “locked” character names, I quickly logged on and got the original name I wanted for my main, and have it place-held by a level 1 toon.

However, my main is 80, well geared, and is exactly what I want for a main, except this coveted name. Will there be any chance to change your character’s name? I’d like to be able to delete the level 1 toon and rename my main.

Tips for beginners?

If you really hate PvP, but love exploring, be ready – you’ll be forced into WvW for the last few percent of the World Completion.

If you really hate being in PUGs (Pick-up-groups), the end of the personal story is really going to disappoint you.

You could simply choose not to do map completion and still enjoy the game. I hate anything pvp, but was pleasantly surprised that I found myself enjoying WvW because of all the teamwork involved. That, plus the crazy xp and massive amounts of karma wasn’t bad either.

The only thing you get from map completion is A: personal satisfaction and B: a component toward making your legendary weapon….. But guess what? Another part of that recipe comes from kills in WvW …. So if you don’t want to WvW, there’s really no point in map completion anyhow. But honestly, if it managed to hook my pvp-hating butt, it might be worth giving it a go.

Just a regular afternoon on TCBL … (Note: do not leave yourself in compromising positions after you died .. I have way too much fun!)

You don’t need Anet to do it for you. Organize. Have a respectful discussion with all involved. It can happen.

At least our trolls are building trebs .. mind you seven of them at the supply depot is a bit of overkill, but they still can be used.

It’s like a small forest of trebs all over EB in every tower and keep.

We are looking at ways to improve transfer experience. It’s a complicated problem.

Our current preferred solution, which we’ll likely poll players on, is as follows:

• If you think of the periods between world links being changed as seasons, then we’d lock all transfers for the first half of the season, and allow normal transferring in the second half.
• So assuming we continue to update world links once every 3 months, the first 6 weeks would be locked for all worlds and the second set of 6 weeks would allow normal transfering (costs scaling based on population size.) Then we’d relink worlds and lock transfers for another 6 weeks.

I have to agree with Puck here, This is a very terrible very bad plan. Players need to be able to play the game with friends and family. It is MORE important to players to play the game with people they enjoy rather than play a specific game. If they cannot play your game with their friends and family they will play someone else’s game that allows them to.

Every time you unmerge worlds, you will be splitting guilds, friends and family, locking them where they are at only ensures they no longer play your game at all and move to a game that will allow them to play together. Playing with those you enjoy playing with> what game that is.

It should never be taken for granted that players do not have to play your game, you are supposed to make them WANT to play your game. You do not do that by trying to prevent them from playing the game with those they enjoy playing it with.

Or.. You could all collectively move to an open server en masse and continue to play with the people you value most.

After trying some of the pve maps which are similar in feel to the borderlands one, I can’t help but feel that the wvw maps are like the pve maps without gliders.

It’s just a feeling, but I think the map is actually begging for gliders.

Either that, or social engineering. We seem to encounter measured pushes of these ideas, then they die down, then push again. It feels too constructed.

No I think the point was that legendaries shouldn’t be something given away like candy. If you want it, you need to master both game modes. It makes getting one extra valuable because you put in the work, whether it’s in pve that wvwers hate but follow the rules, or in wvw, that pve players flatly refuse to do.

You’re not seeing the dichotomy?

The bottom line is you have a choice. Put in the work and get the shiny, or just don’t get one. It really doesn’t have that much impact on your game play by not having one.

I agree that Legendaries should require effort to craft yourself, I don’t think I ever said otherwise. But this change was the wrong way to go about doing that. For one, why does ANet expect me to be content with having to put in an extra 7+ hours of WvW specific play for each legendary I want to craft compared to the people who crafted them before this change and could buy all of their GoB? Why am I expected to be content with being required to do extra for the same reward? Why does ANet think that the people who were saving up their badges instead of buying GoB right away to save inventory space (because with all the bags and junk we get inventory space is a premium for most players, a lot can’t justify wasting a space to hold a GoB indefinitely while they gather the rest of the materials to craft the legendary) will be content with their work now being negated? They put in the work at the time to earn a GoB. They did and you can’t deny that. So why was it taken away from them?

Yes. Crafting legendaries should require you to participate in all game modes and it should not be easy. But this was a particularly poor way to force that to happen

Why does Anet require WvWers to go into pve and complete content/grind pve for theirs?

WvW isn’t a punishment. It’s actually quite fun if you spend more than an hour in it. It’s teamwork and strategy unlike any dungeon you’ll crawl. My best guess is this is Anets way of trying to get people to try all content.

Prior to this game I hated hated hated anything pvp. But I never really truly tried it. Dipped my toe in, got jumped, and went yep, it’s just what everyone else says it is. Gankfest. But I just had an opinion, without truly testing it for myself, based on 10 minutes of play and what everyone else says about pvp.

Anet forcing the OCD in me to get map completion forced me to hang out in WvW for a couple of days while I got my POIs. Couple that with a welcoming map commander who helped me to get them, then I felt obliged to stick around and pitch in for the team.

But WvW is different. You have a whole map as your team. It’s not you alone (unless you want it to be you alone).

Now I cannot think of any game mode I love more — simply because other players are unpredictable; it keeps the game fresh, and forces you to think. And there’s something utterly gratifying when you stake your first enemy after faceplanting (learning) so many times before. It leads to wanting to learn/hone your class further and then eventually handle 2v1s with little to no effort. And that invests you into your character further.

Perfect opportunity to step up and lead

Those on the defensive end, stack shield generators around that vulnerable spot facing SM/Ogres and use it to thwart them.

Stack ACs over top and use the generators to shield your operators while they nuke down those catas.

Lastly, if you still own Ogres: Place catas facing that wall up on cliff and take them out. Ballis work too. A treb top of Veloka on cliff will hit that spot too at 100% power, if aimed properly.

A treb placed between the charr’s paws will hit top of Anz cliff/Anz gate and is really hard for the enemy to counter.

For attackers: Most servers are lazy about covering watergates in pretty much all keeps on EB.

Girls have lesser developed frontal lobes than males which accounts for spatial awareness and spatial intelligence. Then there’s testosterone which is attributable to leadership qualities such as confidence. Women by nature are not good leaders

You forgot the part about them being physically weaker, making them less able to smash keyboard buttons during fights, which is absolutely crucial for any commander.

Sarcasm aside, I mostly agree with what has been said in several other posts above. I believe girls are rarer because they are fewer playing, and because of the weirdness and stupid remarks from a few people that are to be expected to happen in command situations. I dunno if a girl would feel glad to go online to have fun and get a break, only to find the same sexist stuff thrown as them as irl.

There’s actually a study done in 2014 I believe that pegged female gamers at 56% of the gaming population. Fastest growth demographic compared to as little as five years ago. I’ll see if I can’t dig it up.

I payed as much money as everyone else for this game and I’m not just at huge disadvantage, my game experience is simply crippled that playing WvW under these conditions doesn’t make any sense.

I’d wager that anyone who’s played WvW since launch has paid out gems to transfer at least once. So no, you haven’t paid as much as everyone else.

The transfer mechanic is there if you are dissatisfied with your existing world, and you don’t even have to pay real money to use it. Simply farm a pve zone for a day and you’ll earn enough gold to buy the gems to transfer. Not many games out there offer that option. Most will price gouge you to transfer.

I’m a little confused. Your mini map shows a heck of a lot of players with you, particularly at NW tower fight. I lost track counting at about 50 or so…. Is this a case where from your pov in the fight it just looked like Piken had more?

Everyone belongs in WvW if they’re interested. Even most vets will enthusiastically teach anyone who sincerely wants to learn.

The difference is between those who learn how great the mode is and figure out the pips really are inconsequential; and those who only care about the reward itself as they tend not to be team players.

One of the main objectives in WvW is controlling your home map completely and fending off the enemy. It also gives you options when one server is being a jerk and spawn camping.

I love having options.

If you prefer EB, then use it exclusively.

A friend got his off a dead enemy in WvW just recently. There have been other reports of other precursors dropping there more often, too. Seems to be random, and only comes from killing the enemy and getting a chest drop — which is also random .. you more often just get bags.

Again, you’re speaking about guilds. Not everyone plays or wants to play in a guild. The vast majority of your server’s defense team fall into that category.

And those players are not only the backbone of you team’s WVW, but are the ones most invested in community.

Lose your defensive team and you’ll just get a giant pve champ train map.

Lose your guilds and people will get bored with nothing to fight.

Guilds may have loyalty within. But it’s important to recognize that there are other ways to play, and boths sides of that same coin are necessary in order to have a healthy, competitive game.

I don’t personally have a problem with the pairings. I think it would be nice if all players retained their server name, regardless of pairings. It would help alleviate a lot of things.

They can claim the keeps and towers now. Proudly raise their guild flag. Do they defend? Nope.

What I think people want is something to stroke the ego of the associated guild’s they’re in — they want an entire server their own BIG GUILD NAME HERE server — with everyone else supporting their ambitions. Which on a public MMO is a bit silly (although a few have tried lol).

Until they resolve bandwaggoning, there is no “fix” for uneven matches. All the OPs suggestion would do is delay the inevitable and cause mass chaos in the process.

If the objective is important to your team, leave folks behind to guard it. If TC can do this with our limited numbers, then both KN and BG can easily do this. This is how you counter this, along with necro aoe’s and reading the signs of a thief in your keep.

Hint: The first sign is a dead mesmer.

This isn’t limited to TC. I’ve seen thieves from BG do this as well .. as I mentioned above, you have one particularly skilled thief who managed to stay inside our garrison for well over three hours. Pain in the you know what, but we kept bodies behind and we eventually got him.
