Have someone do a quick run to the jumping puzzle on the map and check for green dots. There’s been a lot of reports of odd map numbers and queues since the leagues have started, but at least eliminate the possibility it’s not pve players trying to get their achievement. For some reason they all come out on reset.

As for the flying supermen, take a screen shot and submit an actual support ticket. I believe the in game reporting is overwhelmed and stuff gets missed.

The reason TC loses so few people win or lose is because of what it offers beyond WvW … It translates into overall stability. I think I’d take that over a weekly/monthly score any day.

But maybe not, it’s best to just keep rumors going, and fuel the “Pity party” fire.

Half the beauty of WvW is creating and nurturing a team that you can rely on over time.

Its still WvW but the environment is more engaging like EoTM.

I don’t find EoTM engaging.

You zone in, you don’t have your regular teammates, it’s a shuffle to see who you get each week, reliable folks you know you can count on to get stuff done are on another version of the map … this pretty much will be the death of scouting/cooperation/teamwork — and onward to mindless blobbing with random strangers.

Things that come too easily are soon forgotten. It’s not a grind, it’s a challenge — and if you really want the new item, you’ll put in the time.

Nobody NEEDS the new shiny to play. It’s a choice. Invest the time or not.

Its a grind on par or worse then the most grindy Korean mmos out there. I play gw2 because it isn’t that Grindy, but apparently with this, now it is. If rank was based on winning zerg vs zerg, or winning in havoc groups or scouting I would say yes this is a reward based on wvw dedication. But it’s not, the best way to rank up is pvd which is achieved by eotm which isn’t even wvw. So why do you care if the req Is lowered? It’s not a reflection of your commitment to the game mode anyway it’s just a horribly egregious grind.

It’s even further cheapened by the fact that people exploited eotm when it launched to gain rank 2000-5000 in a mere month which Anet let them keep, which was fine because there were no rewards at the time gated behind high rank, just titles which only enemy players on other servers can see. So don’t act like your commitment to wvw is really reflected by rank.

Do you need the new shinies to play the game?

Does not having them give you a massive disadvantage over those that do?

For the record, I haven’t even cracked 1,000 in rank after four years, and I still stand behind Anet doing this.

Oh and I run mostly exotics, lol.

My guild is split between a locked host server and a single link. While we were making our decision if we would call the host our permanent home, that’s when it locked (months back) and has had us separated and it’s out of our control. We’ve picked up even more members since then, on both the link and the host. We plan to move to the host if it ever unlocks again and consolidate our group. Gold/gems aren’t an issue.

You’re both right, it’s there to deter ‘bandwagoning,’ but it doesn’t stop it, and it hurts the players who want to stay with their own guild. If there were an exception to the penalty, such as transferring between the host/link or being given the option to move to the new link on the host, it would solve this, even if it still required the gems.

It hurts the entire mode of gameplay to cram people onto already full servers.

Coordinate with your guild and travel downward. Make a name for yourselves and push your server up. Stop thinking that T1 means the best tier. Have your ENTIRE guild join up on the linked server. Problem solved, especially if you say gems are not an issue.

It’s ridiculous that you expect Anet to open up a full server, and if you plan on finding a “home” as you say, then one week is nothing compared to months of gaming fun on a set server.

The definition of anti-bandwagonning is trying to find ways to deter players from jumping from server to server. One week is frankly too little. It should be a month.

And why is bandwagonning a bad thing? Because it stacks servers, creates runaway matches, and is no fun for the entire health of the game.

It would mean that new people coming into the map are left out. It would force people to join guilds if you want to compete. Some of us enjoy our solo gigs and are still helpful to a map.

Alliances would also lead to fights between guilds as one group shuns another. It just means more drama.

If WvW went EoTM (as an alliance form), it would mean overflow maps and difficulty getting your guild/regular defense team onto the same map every day — at the very least it would be a pain in the butt.

So nope. No thank you.

I’m a fan of having a server identity, creating a functioning team that you can rely on, and not having to be guilded to do it. If you enjoy guilds as a playstyle, you already have the extra benefit of a hall that is out of reach of the smaller guilds.

Someone should do a sociology paper on the fascinating contructs of a gaming message forum.

1. Players are mad at developer over something.
2. Developer remains silent.
3. Players start to attack each other instead.
4. Developer no longer has to respond because all topics have gone way off-track and people are beginning to forget what they were mad about in the first place

Only a WvW player will die over and over again and not complain about it.

I think there should be three commander icon colours really:

Blue traditional dorito: Offensive zerg
Purple dorito: Defensive commander
Green dorito: Pve

Only have to buy one dorito, but have the ability to change its colour depending on use.

A new achievement group has been added to the Living World category for WvW Season 1.
Twenty achievements have been added.
Completing 15 of the achievements will reward the Premier Season Veteran meta-achievement, a title, and a key that will unlock the final reward chest for Season 1.
Several of the achievements have reward chests with a variety of items, including ascended crafting materials.

Don’t post screens or video here of the flying guy hon. It’s against forum rules. Just file the ticket under “violations” …. the more info/screenshots/videos the faster they can deal with it. Is this guy on Baruch? Yeah you can yell at a teammate to stop all you want and they can ignore you. The ticket hopefully will get him banned. I don’t think there’s a single server community out there that likes seeing that kind of stuff.

As for tower flipping without the gate down, just make sure it wasn’t a well hidden Mesmer. I’ve hidden in various towers or keeps for upwards of 45 minutes sometimes, waiting to portal people in

The players themselves have it within their power to create balance without demolition.

We actually saw the opposite. The stronger server with the 80-blob would drop an ac and use the FoV angle to wipe all inner siege, so they could face-mow the gate down without any resistance from the 6 defenders inside.

But using that requires more time and at the same time if they are just ramming we normally use something called an treb from inside… So it really depends on that part how capable your defenders are.
With how it was we would be easily able to defend against that.

If they are wiping all your siege INSIDE your keep before hitting the gate, then you have no treb dear to counter with.

Trust me, I know siege. And yes, we found other spots.

But initially they were wiping all of, say, inner garri (all along the inner rampart wall), the entire courtyard inside, from OUTSIDE west gate.

people who use ac on 5 players is just wasting everyones time

the server we fight they avoid all pvp. Unless they have 5x more players they gank.
If we have a big enough zerg to kill them they just run away all of them.

That’s right. People don’t want to get off their ACs to fight ever since the damage was buffed and AC mastery introduced because they don’t have to. So the opponent resorts to zerging as a counter.

We are getting a bit more of it in EU, but it’s something that has to be agreed upon by both sides .. and that was WITH ACs.

I am just dread that this will green light a mindless rotation around the map, collecting “phat lewt” and not much else to WvW. Not that ACs are the answer to that, but they did kind of become the stall to some defensive play.

Indeed, if they reset it will be months of bigger servers smashing and demoralizing other servers as they climb back up to where they previous held a spot. That, in itself, would likely chase off any new players who opted in for the HoT expansion. Nothing worse than being steamrolled when you’re just learning.

They’re reverting EU back to single servers and leaving all the new shiny changes for you hip NA kids.

I’m with Columba on this. At the very least it’ll cost people to spy. Perhaps that will curtail it a tiny bit if they have to cough out real money each time to do so.

TC’s community is strong and vibrant. That’s a nice big shiny to those on the outside looking in. I’d like to think that those who come visit us, see that and are charmed by the friendly banter and upbeat attitude we share.

What I would ask, if you are visiting, please make yourself feel welcome … but also respect our community. We will gladly make you feel at home if you add to the community with thoughtful dialogue, but if you come in and are there to be disruptive, you’ll likely get some pushback.

As a general rule, we don’t swear in map chat, we don’t attack other players for their views, we don’t harass and belittle anyone for playing the game the way they want to. If it’s not your cup of tea, move on and find something that is. These rules may seem trite to some, but we really do appreciate how it creates a welcoming and friendly environment.

If you can keep to those basic sentiments, then your presence on our maps will be most welcome. Respect our community much the same way we’d respect yours if we visited.

It’s unethical. It indicates that one person or group are given privileges that others, who paid the same amount for the game, are not afforded.

That is a slippery slope for any corporation. It erodes trust.

Those who are dismissing server pride aren’t looking at longterm. You buy the game because it entertains. You stay because of the community.

You of all people deserve this kind of respect. I can’t count the number of times you’ve trucked over to our side of the map to try to help resolve an issue. I’m so glad you got in and out unscathed.

NA had the issue with server stacking; prior to linking, EU did not have the issue — or at least not to the extreme that was seen in NA.

The linking has brought the NA bandwagon movement to EU. We really hadn’t seen it in EU prior to linking; again not to the extreme that was happening in NA. SFR was the only server, allegedly, that actively paid for guilds to transfer to its server. It’s why it remained dominant for a long time.

EU players: solo, roamers, guilded, but particularly guilded had discussions amongst each other to ensure that three max big guilds were on each server to ensure a good ratio of fights. These guilds self-organized and helped balance out the rest of the pug masses. And I’m pretty sure none of these guilds cared whether they were in 1st, 2nd or 10th spot: they just wanted to make sure they had the bodies to fight to challenge them and their friends during their leisure time.

What did motivate them were queue times: If they got too long on any given server, they’d move down in tiers.

It wound up creating a pleasant playing field where pugs could improve skillset by tagging along with high level guilds — and pugs would leave the guilds alone if they were working on group raids/compositions etc… Scouts could call out blob reports and the guilds would actually (good naturedly) fight with each other in map chat over who got to take on the blob first. I even witnessed one guild wait at the side to let another guild have the first shot.

EU servers period would complain about what is common in NA — zerging. And accuse other guilds of hand holding if they didn’t wait turns.

It’s just a completely different mentality. In EU it’s about the gameplay, in NA it was about the reward/first place, etc… Weekends on most EU servers were empty because folks were out doing things with family and friends. Weekdays became the game days.

EU did not need linking to balance out the population. The majority played during prime and there were small groups of devoted “daytime/nighttime” regulars.

The server balance issues were NA only. Linking was created for NA.

Jayne you can count of many hoping to attend the parade. I don’t want to speak too soon but I think we should be able to field some positive numbers, just be sure not to play EST time – all us PST folk still have to work, and also the same time we tend to run fight club duels (4 or 5 est Thursday I can’t remember). But +1 from kaineng after hard week, wouldn’t mind a festivity. Certain I know a few others who enjoy that type of event.

In the olden days, your team would respond en masse to a call out because you didn’t want to lose a WP that took forever to upgrade, etc. Defending a tower or keep had a feeling of reward when the enemy was pushed out. And that reward was defending something you worked hard on getting built.

Now, with nobody wanting to play the BLs, calling for help is like pulling teeth. Smaller groups that were able to jump between maps now cannot be bothered to respond because the new Bay and Hills doesn’t give them a chance to WP in and save it. So it falls.

And it becomes a domino thing. If Bay and Hills fall, what’s the point really of defending garri? The attitude is “let them take the map, we’ll get it back later.”

WPs need to be returned to the home BL map — not divided up by team like in EB.

I’m glad the dolyaks play a role in upgrades now .. but the auto upgrade system has simply taken pride of ownership away from those defenders who loyally covered the home map.

There is NOTHING better and more loyalty binding to your team than saving something in the “nick of time” … it’s the emotional connection of feeling you did it together.

And that’s what kept WvW rolling, despite the complaints, for three plus years. People scoff at server loyalty, team loyalty, but it was the glue.

In my day we put in 12 hour days with NO reward, and we LIKED it dag nabbit!
