These two issues have been reported by several players over in the bugs forum.

It is likely something they will look to fix in a future build, but we have no way of knowing how high it is on their priority list or when it will be fixed. :\

[suggestion] Make mouse arrow HIGHLY visible

Honor where honor is due, this is where the YoloMouse link came from:

I haven’t tried this, but I saw it listed in a thread on Reddit.
I don’t know how this relates to the third-party policy, though, so use it at your own risk.

Ceterum censeo Carthaginem… uhmm… the big ugly target bar should be moveable somewhere less obstructive.

Ah, very good of you to do so. Thank you as well, RoyHarmon.

What's the name of the Guild Wars 2 track

Thank you! The area I’m in right now is Gendarran

Happy to help. I normally have music off in-game since I have the Official Soundtrack playing in my music player in the background Much of the time it is “Fear Not This Night” on repeat though (or the instrumental version) as Asja Kadric is simply amazing!

I wish ArenaNet would release the video of Asja singing “Fear Not This Night” live at their launch party.

Asja Kadric

“it was recorded, ArenaNet has it but I don’t think it will be published ever. Sorry”

From her FaceBook page regarding her GW2 Launch Party performance of “Fear Not This Night”.

I find the OP’s post history in other threads and their making this thread to be quite hypocritical.

I mean, there was even a thread where someone said people talking about god in game chat was offensive, and this OP responded with i find this thread offensive … Basically the same thing here, but here they are the thread creator saying pretty much the same thing that they previously attacked someone else for saying.

As well as another gem they said which is basically what any number of other people in this thread are saying to them:
We all had relatives die in different ways does that mean playing necro is offensive because he’s raising the dead ?
This logic is just invalid I’m sorry .

Leveling with 80 in mind: Your Thoughts?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I recommend forgetting entirely about getting to 80 and just play how you want as long as you are having fun.

I strictly play Open World PvE (OWPvE) …no PvP (WvW IS PvP) or Dungeons, which are Instanced PvE (IPvE).
I’ve started to just make a new character when I reach level 73-78, even if it is a clone of that one just so I don’t hit 80. I wish I could turn off experience gain (like other games) to keep myself from hitting 80, but the level 80 transmutation crystals sales would drop too much so that will never happen with the current system (i.e. no armor skin closet). I outfit my characters with the styles I want at level 11 (helm/shoulder able to be equipped) so they look the way I want the entire time I’m playing them, which means using 6-8 transmutation crystals once (if I outfit them with level 80 skins) and then use the free transmutation stones that rain down on us (can get 3 in less than 5min as many times as you want) to copy appearances to upgraded gear. Getting to 80 means nothing to me but then needing to purchase many additional transmutation crystals to change my look at any point in the future (haven’t gotten any from map complete, personal story or BLChests in over a year so I think they’ve removed them from being awarded in those cases). Most of my characters that hit 80 become mules due to a character slot being cheaper than a bank expansion in terms of slots made available to you.

Levels really are irrelevant in this game and should not have even been implemented as a gauge for stat modifying (stats shouldn’t even have been locked to armor or weapons in the first place). Stats should have increased dynamically based on what skills you use. Using skills from specific skill categories would boost certain stats based on frequency of their use… you know, experience granted based on actual experience using those skills. You would really be leveling up your character’s experience with individual skills and not some overall stat modifier (character level). That’s why I think they didn’t really fail at replacing the trinity with something else, but that they really failed to effectively remove the trinity and all elements that only exist because of the use of the trinity to the extent that they needed to (armor weight class restrictions for one).

Transparent tail since 28 July Update

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Many people experience graphical glitches like this when there is a problematic or damaged file in the game archive. These issues are normally fixed by running a repair cycle.

Have you tried running a repair on your client yet to see if it fixes it for you?

If you have not, I recommend doing a repair cycle on your client to see if it fixes the issue.

If you need a hand doing that:
Check the game for errors and repair it

  • Close your game/launcher
  • Right-click your game shortcut and select ‘Properties’
  • On the ‘Shortcut’ tab, the first line says “Target:”, immediately after the end quotation marks in this field, put a space and then add -repair
It will look like this (but with your installation location):
    “F:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -repair
  • Make sure there is a space between the " and -repair
  • Run the shortcut and it’ll repair the game files if any are damaged.
  • After the repair is finished, close the launcher, remove the -repair argument you added and run the game as normal to see if it’s fixed.

(it is likely that the repair will dip into the ‘not responding’ state often, but it should finish properly after a few minutes or so)

Otherwise, it may be related to your graphics drivers and you may need to reinstall them if the repair does not fix it.

HOW DO YOU TURN OFF THE BOBBLE HEAD!

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

The program is set to activate this on April 1, change the date on the computer to April 2 and it will end. Tomorrow change the date back.

Unreliable. Regardless of what date you set your clock to it will still come back after changing zones or switching characters. Seems unrelated to the clock, especially since some people do not experience the bobble-head at all after logging in on a character, but switching characters causes it to become enabled for them.

There is currently no known way to permanently disable this…
I think we need to wait for ANet to patch a temporary disable option/pop-up into the game. Seeing as it is for one day only it is likely that they won’t bother taking the time to do it despite chasing players out of their game, messing with WvW S2, limiting what can even be done in the game if one can look past the distraction aspect, and also really upsetting a lot of people due to the disrespect of ruining their limited time available to log in.

Lag and Latency Issues

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

May want to give the “/clientport 80” command line argument a try and see if it helps reduce the lag you experience.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments#-clientport_80

“Instructs the client to connect to the game servers over port 80 (HTTP) instead of the industry standard gaming port 6112. Some ISPs throttle different port traffic at different times of day so this helps some people get a better connection. (It isn’t the default because some ISPs also modify port 80 traffic, which will break the game connection.)”

Add “/clientport 80” command line argument

  • Close your game completely.
  • Next, make a copy of your Gw2 game shortcut and rename it “GW2 Port 80” or to something that you will recognize it for testing GW2 with this command line argument.
  • Now, right-click this “Gw2 Port 80” shortcut and click on “Properties”.
  • On the “Shortcut” tab look in the “Target:” field, you should see:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2” or wherever you have Guild Wars 2 installed.
  • After the closing quotation marks in this line put a space and then add /clientport 80
It will look like this but with your GW2 install location:
    “C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2” /clientport 80
  • Hit OK after making this change.
  • Use this shortcut to launch your game and play for a while.
  • If you don’t notice a difference between your regular game connection and using client port 80, feel free to delete this shortcut and use your regular one again.

I’m afraid of them giving out refunds… does that mean they aren’t planning on fixing the fix?

If that’s the case, I’m going to hop on the refund bandwagon too.

Hiya, Hamfast!

That was mainly why I waited until Gaile made a response on the matter. If the ‘fix’ was going to be fixed, I’d have waited to see what it looked like then. However, her response of ‘passing our concerns along’ told me that it is unlikely to be looked into further and that it’d likely be staying exactly as it is right now. This prompted me to seek the refund as it is very unlikely to be reverted to the pre-fix visual that I purchased but with clipping issues corrected. I recommend your seeking the refund immediately, personally.

Support ticket regarding GW1 account recovery

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

If it’s just that you cannot recall your GW1 login details, or no longer have access to the email address used there, then you may want to consider the option of linking your GW1 account to your GW2 account to reset it.

I think you only need to note a character’s name on the account and know the GW1 cdkey and not the actual login details, but once you link your GW1 account to your GW2 account then the GW1 account login is replaced and will be identical to your GW2 account login info.

It may require that your GW1 account have the Eye of the North expansion activated on it for it to link, but I don’t think that is required to link them.

You can initiate linking by visiting the My Account link up by your login at the top of this page or clicking this: https://account.guildwars2.com and then selecting Link Accounts on the left side and then follow onscreen instructions.

Why are devs answering so rarely here?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Josh Davis was a godsend when he came into the bug forum. He frequently responded to bug reports and discussed them with us and would then forward the bug to the appropriate department/person and add it to their tracker to be fixed. Great for Josh, but unfortunate for us, is that he got a new title and seems to strictly work over with PvP related game facets now. Good for you Josh!

Unfortunately, this puts us right back where we were before his arrival. Notice that not a single bug was listed in yesterday’s patch notes? Under “Balance, bug-fixing, polish” was just a vague statement on optimizations. The lack of attention to bugs is one of the reasons I have now decided to no longer update the Bug Tracker sticky thread and have already sent a request to Josh Davis to un-sticky it. Another of the many reasons is the lack of player interest in adding bugs to that list for tracking. Then again, why keep adding bugs to track when they no longer receive dev responses acknowledging them and sending them off to get fixed, as well as bugs on the list never really getting off the list, even after a year of being reported. Even the armor clipping issues thread is full of clipping issues that have not been fixed, despite dozens reporting them for many, many months. To be fair and truthful, I’m not saying nothing is getting fixed. I’m sure one or two have been fixed over the last 6 months. Remember the Order of Whispers boots with the red daggers taking over 3 months to get fixed despite the issue having happened and gotten fixed in a day in the past, twice? I think even the huge lighting/texture flicker in front of the TP in the Grove finally got fixed after being that way for over a year. That was actually quite a surprise to see/not see anymore on a daily basis.

Anyway, I’m just saying that I’ve resigned from trying to help out in the bug forum as bug fixing is clearly no longer of any importance, despite being only minimally important before. Why bother putting the time into something that no longer has any value or serves any useful purpose?

Black Lion Fonts

StinVec.3621

Personally, I feel that the Interface Size should not just be a slightly smaller, and less readable version with each smaller size selected, rather it should be a completely different design with fewer elements or streamlined features.

“Size” options should be: Full, Reduced, and Minimal
‘Full’ is what we use now, ‘Reduced’ would be a more streamlined interface with less graphics and empty space in the layout, and ‘Minimal’ would be a compact arrangement of elements with quick access to frequented listings and displaying of item information.

This trading post is simply the most clunky, poorly presented, poorly organized and poorly designed in-game store/auction house/trading post I’ve ever experienced in any game. Half of the search options don’t even work properly, and many items aren’t even listed in their own categories. When you can search for a specific category of an item, and by selecting that category you are shown results that actually exclude what you chose to search for…something is very, very wrong.

It is far from being professionally designed, let alone with the players’ needs in mind. My nephew even points out how crappy it is and asks why it isn’t like ‘this’…

Nephew: “Why can you only see the super low selling price for something? Why can’t you see all of the prices something is selling for when you go to sell something?”

Me: “To see all of the prices people are selling the item for you have to go to the ‘buy’ screen first and then come back to the ‘sell’ screen and just remember from the other screen what amount you should be selling it for.”

Nephew: "Wait, so if you go sell something, if you want to see that you should sell it for a dollar (silver) since that is what it’s worth and what tons of other people are selling it for, and not for a few pennies (copper) like some guy is selling them for, you need to pretend to go buy it first and hop back and forth?

Me: “Yep…”

Nephew: “Wow…that’s pretty dumb. Why not just have all of the buying prices and selling prices on the same screen? Or even the last 10 different prices so people know what the stuff is worth and what they should sell it for?”

Me: “…sigh… I love you, Jake.”

Yes, even a 10 year old can see how poorly it is implemented and can point out how it should logically and ideally function.

Accessing character sheet while on mount

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I believe ‘C’ is a default mount ability bind.

Also, I believe the mount bind section is implemented and configurable even though PoF is not released, so no need to wait to check it out for a conflict. You would, however, need to wait until release to see if correcting the conflict (if there is one to correct) resolves the issue.

Sweet FX/FXAA Tool Help

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I noticed with the FXAA Tool that, after having been using it for a long time prior to the new addition of the /bin folder, copying the files from the installation folder into the /bin folder would not allow the game to start. It didn’t seem to like the copying of the old files to the new folder as the game profile in the program itself needed to be directed to that /bin folder so copying the files there was not helping as the program wasn’t directed to the /bin folder. I needed to actually re-select the bin folder from within the tool and have it create the files there and reconfigure the settings again.

Regarding the SweetFX, I’ve read of people saying you need to move all 3 of the files into the /bin folder (d3d9.dll, dxgi.dll, injector.ini).

However, I’ve also read of others still crashing after doing this and they instead had to move their entire /SweetFX/ folder to /bin/SweetFX/ to stop the instant crashing. Perhaps try this to see if it helps.

Also, be sure to run your game as an administrator in your game shortcut/exe’s properties > compatibility tab to see if that helps resolve any startup issues for both tools.

Another thing that could be causing a write permission issue is if your game is installed to your “C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2” directory. As Windows handles this folder differently (the cause of issues for many games), it is highly recommended to move that folder to another directory on your computer (like “C:\Guild Wars 2”) to resolve permission issues.

Hello all, I looked into this because we intended to have a release note for the changes to the champion loot.
We did modify the gold and bloodstone dust coming from champion bags, and a release note will be added shortly.
What I can tell you is that we made a mistake, this one fell through the cracks and I’m truly sorry. I’ve promised before that we won’t make stealthy economic changes without notes and I mean to stick to that promise.
Thank you all for pointing out the error, we will be more vigilant in the future.
Good luck in your adventures.

Hi, John Smith. I just wanted to point out that it has been two days since your comment and, as of this comment, the addition to the release notes has not happened yet.

[List] New Patch, Changes To TP (Most Fixed)

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

  • Coin Amount Roll Over
Decreasing a coin amount to zero and going one tick further no longer decreases a higher coin amount. Likewise, increasing the coin amount upward from 99 does not roll over and increase the next coin value.
    e.g.
2s 0c – decrease the copper by 1 and it no longer becomes 1s 99c
1s 99c -increase the copper by 1 and it no longer becomes 2s 0c

  • [FIXED!] Inverted Sell Listings
Increasing/decreasing the amount of coin to sell an item for causes the sell listings to invert and be listed high to low instead of low to high. (image 2)
  • [FIXED!] Pop-up Dismissal Areas
Apparently we are now forced to click the [X] to close the item buy/sell information pop up. Previously we had the choice of clicking the [X] or clicking any of the surrounding area outside of the pop-up. (image 1)
  • [FIXED!] Scroll Wheel Hover Increase/Decrease
Hovering on quantity/price and scrolling the mouse wheel no longer increases/decreases the values as it previously would. Additionally, clicking the up/down arrows does not activate the field to then be able to scroll increase/decrease. We must now click within the field (where the actual digits are) to activate it to then be able to scroll the mousewheel to increase/decrease the values.
However, be mindful of your arrow position while editing values as the fields now become activated upon being hovered over. You can be entering your quantity and be typing 250, but if your arrow drifts downward a little you’ll find yourself entering 250 into the gold field… Can cause some serious problems if this not just a temporary fix for scroll wheel hover increasing/decreasing until they get it back to how it was before.
  • [FIXED!] Cursor Position Auto-adjusted After Edit
Cannot use DEL or Backspace to remove and replace individual numbers from the quantity/coin fields due to the cursor automatically jumping to after the last digit upon making any change.

Quantity is 130:
Placing the cursor after the “1” and pressing backspace causes it to remove the 1, but it also then moves the cursor after the far right number (0) so the amount is now 30. Pressing “2” causes the value to jump to 302 instead of 230 due to it moving the cursor location. As you cannot have more than 250 in a single buy order, the 302 becomes 250 when all you wanted to do was change your quantity from 130 to 230.
- In the case of coin and an attempt to change a value from 51 to 61:
Putting the cursor before the 5 in 51 and hitting DEL causes the 5 to erase and the cursor to be placed after the 1 instead of remaining where it was. Hitting 6 then causes your entered value to become 16 instead of 61 due to it automatically moving the cursor to the end of the field.
- Must now highlight all digits in the field and re-enter the entire desired number due to the cursor placement automatically jumping to after the last digit upon making any change to the entered value.

Also, the bug of the scroll bar areas not being dismissed with the pop-up has still not been corrected. Interactive dead zones still exist.

"Nearest enemy" targeting broken

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

I agree with everything stated to this point.
I was aware of the priority changes coming in today’s patch regarding “TAB Targeting”, but nowhere were these changes mentioned to also affect “Target Nearest”, which is totally separate from and should not be related to “TAB Targeting” and the changes made to that aspect of the targeting system.

“Target Nearest” should…well, “Target Nearest”, regardless of the type of enemy.

Loud Popping sound

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I’ve experienced the occasional loud “metal book falling on a stone floor in a large, silent library” sound since the game came out. It scares the total crap out of me almost every time, and sometimes it happens several times a minute, especially in Divinity’s Reach. I’m actually very fearful that one of these times it is going to blow out my headset and am surprised that it hasn’t already with how horrible and sharp a sound it is.

I’ve asked others in map-chat at the time it has happened in the world and in a ‘town’ such as Divinity’s Reach, and others have confirmed that they heard it at the exact same time I heard it, even with us being in totally different areas of the zone. So it isn’t really something local, but being sent to all clients within a zone. I don’t know if it is then tied to the music track glitching, as some have noted the issue of music cutting out or background chatter suddenly ceasing and then restarting a second later, but I can’t really think of another sound that is being sent to all clients in a zone at the same time. I may even be way off on thinking it is tied to the soundtrack.

I think it has something to do with a sound buffer issue, where it keeps trying to play a sound and fails, so when it finally does play the sound, since there is now a massive stack of this sound waiting to play, that it all plays at once and tries to kill us or our speakers.

edit – continued thoughts
Thinking about it a little bit more, now, I think it is probably related to opening up the trading post. Opening the TP while ‘in the field’ is something everyone does, and upon opening the TP, or changing tabs in the TP, we are presented with a click-like sound, though I have noticed before that I do not get that ‘click’ sound when changing tabs every single time or changing tabs quickly.

Could the awesomium_process.exe be stacking this missed sound up in the sound buffer and then something allows them to finally play? How could this then be experienced by many players in a zone if it is a local client issue?

I’m struggling with finding a logical cause for the ‘death-click’, but I think I’m getting closer to figuring it out.

I had no interest in the Gauntlet last year and it didn’t have any changes to it for this year to change my lack of interest.

I still have all of my tickets from last year and I’ve also gained more from this year that I will not use. I was hoping we could vend or trade them in last year and that did not happen.

If we get a way to vend or trade in the tickets by July 1st, awesome. If not, I’ll just trash them as they’ve taken up far too much space for far too long.

Last patch note - what's wrong? what's right?

in Forum and Website Bugs

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Considering it is actually PDT (daylight savings is active) and not PST (standard time), 11am PDT would be 6pm UTC (UTC minus 7 hours).
4pm PDT would be 11pm UTC.

It should read:
Karka Queen – 11:00 (PDT) / 18:00 (UTC)
Karka Queen – 16:00 (PDT) / 23:00 (UTC)

Or it should if they used the correct PDT times. Seeing as they stated PST and not PDT, it is possible that they have not accounted for the time change in their own state. If that is the case, then I suppose it could be 11:00 (PST), but 12:00 noon (PDT) / 19:00 (UTC). That would mean they intentionally stated PST, despite being completely misleading as there is no such time zone as PST right now so all players must add an hour to that time. However, the second time slot is displayed in PDT time (UTC-7), but states PST as the time.

I think they need to double check their times and modify that post to properly state PDT and accurate times.

In fact, the other times just after those for Teq and Wurm are wrong as well.
There are 3 entries that have an extra hour added to the UTC time:
08:00 PST / 15:00 UTC – Karka Queen
09:00 PST / 16:00 UTC – Tequatl
10:00 PST / 17:00 UTC – Great Jungle Wurm
11:00 PST / 19:00 UTC – Karka Queen
12:00 PST / 20:00 UTC – Tequatl
13:00 PST / 21:00 UTC – Great Jungle Wurm
16:00 PST / 23:00 UTC – Karka Queen
17:00 PST / 24:00 UTC – Tequatl

Should be:
08:00 PDT / 15:00 UTC – Karka Queen
09:00 PDT / 16:00 UTC – Tequatl
10:00 PDT / 17:00 UTC – Great Jungle Wurm
11:00 PDT / 18:00 UTC – Karka Queen
12:00 PDT / 19:00 UTC – Tequatl
13:00 PDT / 20:00 UTC – Great Jungle Wurm
16:00 PDT / 23:00 UTC – Karka Queen
17:00 PDT / 24:00 UTC – Tequatl

Again, unless the UTC times are correct and the PST/PDT times are incorrect. Or that some of the times are in PST and state PST, and others are in PDT but still state PST.

Either way, someone there needs to decide what is correct and fix it.

Subscription-based Guild Wars 2

If GW2 went subscription-based or implemented “premium accounts”:

I would…

  • …never log in again
  • …immediately uninstall my game
  • …record myself melting my game packaging, installation CD and all my other ArenaNet merchandise with a blow torch and would then upload it to YouTube.
  • …never be a patron of any game or product that ArenaNet and its related companies currently has released or may release in the future.

Now, true expansions ala Guild Wars 1 finally being released…those I would gladly purchase and would restore a little of my faith in the company and its direction.

Dye changes won't stay

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

When you used the dye remover, did you just use it to remove the dye and redye the slots again, without saving the changes between removing dye and changing dye?

If you used the dye remover and then dyed the slots, try using the dye remover on all of the slots, then saving the dye changes, then redye and save the new colors.

To be clearer, be sure you did this:

  • Dye Remover on all slots
  • Apply changes
  • Dye all slots to your liking
  • Apply changes

And not this:

  • Dye Remover on all slots
  • Dye all slots again
  • Apply changes

I did ‘Apply’ the dye remover but do you have to use the remover on every slot? I think I only removed the blue areas, then hit ‘Apply’ because I wanted to keep the black looking slot that was already on the skin.

Ok, that is the problem.

You cannot modify some dye slots while keeping others in the default color they came with if you do not also have that color unlocked. That is where the issue is popping up. You do not have that “black looking” color unlocked so any changes to the other colors are not getting saved.

So let’s say the skin comes with Abyss Dye in some slots, and Brick Dye in others as its default coloring. If you modify the Brick Dye slots to another color and try to save the changes, they will not get saved since you do not have Abyss Dye unlocked on your account. You would need to have Abyss unlocked on your account or overwrite the Abyss with a color you do have unlocked for changes to be saved.

So, you must either leave all dyes as their default, or modify all dyes to colors that you actually have unlocked.

If the default “black looking” color is one you do not have unlocked, you cannot modify the other colors and save the changes without also modifying that color, or unlocking that color on your account.

You need to either color over the black color on the piece with another color to change the other dye slots, or unlock that black color on your account so the other dye changes can be saved properly.

First Look at Balance Changes

Ranger
In the future, we’ll continue to explore ways to improve on the ranger’s ties to both their pets and nature.

I can only hold to hope that this means they actually consider finally offering the option of severing the ranger’s ties to their pets, and instead offering a more nature-oriented playstyle.

Other than pet AI actually being fixed, offering a wide range of skins for the various species, as well as making a larger selection of species able to be tamed, that is really the only change to the ranger that I desire as I consider that option as being an immense improvement to the current ranger > pet/nature relationship.

Alphabetised Wardrobe

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Ah, regarding the Hero Panel wardrobe section, I see what you are describing.

The Hero Panel Wardrobe listings are displayed in the order in which they were unlocked by your account and not alphabetically as seen in the bank wardrobe. It is quite odd that it is in this order instead of alphabetically and that alphabetically is not even an option for order.

In my listings, Adventurer’s Spectacles was the last medium skin I unlocked so it is last in my headgear listing. Viper’s Monocle in the middle, and my first one listed is Rawhide Mask. Bizarre decision for ordering. (image)

It would be nice if the alphabetical listing of armor skins seen in the bank wardrobe were extended to the Hero Panel’s listings as well.

Though that is really, really odd that removing the dye left them as a color that isn’t unlocked. I wonder if they were visible as that color only to you and everyone else would be seeing the yucky brown color that items are normally left with after using the dye remover… Oh well. Problem solved at least.

Dye Changes Feedback/Questions

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

So do you think it’s a good idea to buy some of the more expensive dyes now so I’ll have em for all my toons or wait till after the patch? I’m thinking there will be a rush for dyes after the patch so prices will jump, and then an even bigger rise in prices since they will become less common. Thoughts? Buy now?

The rush will have started already. Ideally… buy last week.

The rush was mainly on sub-30 silver dyes. More expensive/rare dyes haven’t really budged at all. Blue Ice dye is still about 35 silver, Midnight Ice is still at about 20 gold. Unfortunately for anyone who was not already in-game this morning when the blog went up, there are no dyes available anymore for less than 20-23 silver now. Since the supply was all bought up expect them to slowly trickle back in as the high volume buyers let the supply creep back out to keep it at the 20-25 silver range.

However, seeing as we still have a few weeks before the change happens where unidentified dyes will still be dropping in the world, after this sudden run on cheap dyes is past:

  • How many will continue to identify unidentified dyes that they find?
  • How many of those identified dyes that are not ‘eaten’ will be put onto the TP?
  • Will the people who bought out all the dyes buy up anything new that gets listed to keep the price around 20-25 silver?
  • Will the supply of dyes getting placed onto the TP not really be as much as normal?
  • Will the supply skyrocket again to make dyes as cheap as they once were when the post-patch supply of unidentified dyes from duplicate colors get identified and put onto the TP?

TP UI - My Latest Trades - Missing Element

I am very glad to see the several other fixes to the TP today, but one new bug I noticed is that the “Bought” and “Sold” designation in the “My Recent Trades” section no longer displays – it only shows the item.

Is anyone else experiencing this bought/sold element missing or do some people still see it?

I’ll run a cache cleaning in a bit to see if it is a local problem unless others mention they, too, are missing this element.

Anet - Cultural Situation Resolution Proposal

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

The situation

  • Many players are upset that cultural armor is no longer restricted to individual species due to the unprecedented release of the ‘Flamekissed’ Human Light Cultural T3 armor into the gem Store.
  • The ‘Flamekissed’ Gem Store cultural skin includes enhanced design elements and sells about 68 gold (current gold to gem conversion amount), which is nearly half the price of the ‘generic’ version from the Cultural Armorsmith and also does not require the 6 transmutation crystals needed to apply the skins to existing armor pieces.

So, in addition to many players being upset over the principles involved of making a “Cultural Armor” design available to all other species, many players are also upset at having previously spent double the amount of gold (plus transmutation crystals and other related expenses) for the ‘generic’ Human Light Cultural T3 armor and now feel cheated due to the new (arguably better) version that has been made available and without warning or precedent.

What Cannot Be Done

  • Due to thousands of players having already purchased this skin (with real money or converted their gold into gems) and have likely applied these skins to existing armor items, it is near if not impossible to now remove the armor from the Gem Store, refund the gems to the thousands of players who purchased it, everything involved with refunding money spent on the gems back to cards/banks if you even do that, forcibly removing the skin from every single item in the game that the skins were applied to and replacing it with the skin that was previously on those items, and many other issues I’m sure I am not including. This is simply not an option.
  • It is also not a proper fix to the situation to simply offer an entirely new and unique armor design to replace the Human Light Cultural T3 armor and put the current ‘generic’ design onto the gem store along with the new enhanced variation. True, this would appease many by making all cultural armor restricted to their respective species once again, but many players who spent the large amount of gold on this existing cultural armor in the past will still be left feeling cheated now that it would be available at a fraction of the cost in the Gem Store. Dealing with the many requests to be reimbursed for the difference, entitled to one or not, will cause a high volume of tickets being made that must then be addressed, as well as sour feelings being propagated throughout the community especially if these requests would not be granted, or some being granted and not others. It’s just a really bad way to go about fixing the situation.

Due to this ‘can of worms being opened’, you must focus on addressing this cultural armor issue in its entirety. A bonus for the players is that other issues can be addressed at the same time for the benefit and fairness of all.

Class Trainers
As has been requested by many for quite a long time, I, too, am completely in favor of armor designs that are restricted to only being available to each class; Class Armor. In their current form, having an individual trainer for each class serves absolutely no purpose:

  • Players do not learn new skills from these trainers (yet)
  • Trait manuals are completely generic in that any class can use each manual tier regardless of whether it was acquired from the BLTP or even from a different class trainer via an alt of a different class; my mesmer can use a manual my thief got from the thief trainer.
  • Class trainers also do not even offer a unique service of resetting traits. There are even ‘Trait Reset’ NPCs whose only purpose is to reset traits regardless of your class. And with the new single-use trait reset items in the Gem Store, one is not even required to visit an NPC to reset their traits.

Gem Store Skin Unlocks/PvE Wardrobe
I know it has been stated by Colin (PAX 2013) that a PvE version of the PvP Locker will be addressed in the future, however, you may need to bump that up to an immediate priority due to this cultural armor situation. I can see why it would be desirable to place cultural armors into the gem store as a way to encourage the use of gems to acquire them directly instead of converting gems to gold or straight up gold acquired from playing (I see many things that could easily be shifted into the Gem Store from the game world, though many of them shouldn’t be). However, even if it would be easy to shift cultural armors into the Gem Store while retaining the species restriction on the skins, this can no longer happen due to this human cultural armor skin variation now being made available to non-humans (the reasons I mentioned above support this not being a viable solution). Now, the PvE Wardrobe does not have to be implemented to fix this situation, it would just be highly desirable to make the situation a little easier with my proposal below.

Time to refocus and clarify GW2's goals?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Hands down, the thing people have been lamenting the absolute very most over the last two years is lack of end game content and options; something which Anet have been knocking out of the park with Season 2 of the LS. Players complained (maybe rightfully so) about lack of permanent end-game content, then as soon as that is remedied they start having issues with everything else, completely forgetting their previous focus.

I never complained about endgame or lack thereof — until they started tampering with my endgame: creating alts. The trait system redesign is the worst of it, but elements of NPE and LS2 have contributed, and as a result I won’t be buying any new character slots. Even though I’d like to.

No new races, no new professions, no new weapons, no new weapon skills.

Too kitten much ‘no’ for a two-year old MMO.

Dead on with my feelings and situation. My endgame was alts – creating, outfitting (not in outfits), adventuring…I didn’t even pay much attention to my alt’s level. I had that much fun roaming the world. That was destroyed. I, too, will also continue to not buy any more new character slots because of this.

  • no new playable races
  • no new professions
  • no new weapon types
  • no new weapon skills
  • no new available weapons for existing professions
  • no new non-gimmick, full-size zones for exploration (like the rest of the world)
  • no new full armor (non-outfit) sets released in months

With their having actively destroyed the areas of the game that I found enjoyment in, and with the continuing lack of the above-mentioned elements, I feel there is very little left keeping the remaining (tiny) bit of interest I have in the game’s future alive.

I’ve even stopped doing dailies over the last couple weeks, where previously I had missed maybe a handful total since launch. No longer able to enjoy venturing out into the world with a new alt for an adventure, and even no longer interested in putting the minimal effort needed to finish the daily, I’ve actually found myself resorting to sitting at the TP making many times more gold than I ever did out in the world. Just managed to go from zero (converted it all to gems before the gem exchange update) to 1k gold in 2-3 weeks. I see now why so many hang out at the TP all day.
Sadly, my wrist can’t take much more of that. :\

With my constant outfitting and re-outfitting all of my existing and new alts, I was frequently a bit short on gold. Now that I cannot enjoy alts anymore, I have more gold than I’d ever need. :\ How sadly ironic:
- I was too busy having fun to make the amount of money I needed when I needed it.
- Now I’m busy making more money than I’d have ever needed now that I no longer need it since there isn’t any fun left to be had and it’ll likely sit in my wallet long after I no longer play anymore due to lack of any of the things on that aforementioned list.

I usually don’t type out what I think or how I feel (or, rather, actually post what I type out and instead just +1 posts by users that mirror my feelings) as I know from the past that what I (‘we’, collectively) say really does not mean anything or have any effect at all on the changes they’ve made.

I very much would like to know what their plans are for the future of this game so that I may once again be excited to play it and look forward to what is to come…if it is something good that is to come, that is.

World Bosses, hopes on what will change

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Thank you for altering your title to more appropriately reflect your thread contents.

Regarding your suggestion, I like the idea of boss portals taking you to an instance to engage the boss (but not for all zone boss events). The Thaumanova Reactor has a boss event such as this that can be activated by opening a portal to engage a Displaced Steam Ogre (by using an infused Matrix Cube Key on the console in the shielded area of the central chamber).

This would also allow for a more appropriate level of scaling for the event based on how many port in to engage the boss. As it is now, players can engage most (if not all) zone bosses for a few shots and then run off to the sidelines out of harms way and still receive their rewards after the boss goes down. These players are no longer contributing to the fight against the boss and the boss is still scaled to include them. If everyone who ports in to the boss through the boss portal has a limited area of movement to where they cannot run off to a safe area (personal story boundaries), then the event can maintain its proper scaling due to non-participating players being removed from the instance.

Dev Blog: Changes to Traits

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

The one thing I want to know is if the training manuals will change from allowing access to teaching a bunch of traits of that tier.

As I read it, there are no more tier-unlock manuals, those are just unlocked automatically at certain levels. The training manuals each teach a specific trait, and newly introduced traits will have more expensive manuals (just like the newer heal skills are very expensive in SP)

Edit: Or were you asking if they will still have some use if you bought one in that past? I… wouldn’t count on that. They aren’t that expensive, so I doubt they will be given any new use.

Trait tiers will now unlock based on the level of your character. Manuals will be removed from the vendors and replaced with the purchasable trait guides as an alternative to unlocking traits via specific content.

Hello, Roy Cronacher. Thank you for your efforts on the game and your input in this thread. Regarding the purchasable trait guides:

Q.
What currency(ies) will be usable to purchase these trait guides?

  • Karma
  • Gold
  • Gems
  • Laurels
  • Skill Points
  • Other

Would you also be able to tell us how much of the currency(ies) would be needed to purchase the trait guides, please?

Abyss dye - sell now or after update?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

  • Use
If you use the dye then you will always have Abyss available to all characters you currently have and will ever have. How much is having that unlocked worth to you? – 5g, 20g, 40g, 80g?
  • Sell Now/Hold
If you need the coin now or don’t want to play the guessing game of when to sell for maximum coin, then if you sell it now to the highest buy order then you are guaranteed to get around 25 gold.
If you hold on to it then there is the definite possibility that prices of expensive dyes will fall and you could end up selling for less than 25g in the future.
There is also the definite possibility that prices of currently expensive dyes could rise after the patch.
However the prices are likely to both rise and fall in the wake of the patch and knowing when to sell to maximize the amount of coin you get for the dye will be difficult to know.

If you don’t need the coin immediately and are even remotely interested in unlocking the dye for your account, it couldn’t hurt to hang on to it until after the 15th.

  • If price goes up and stays up, then you can sell it for a lot more than you would right now.
  • If price goes down and stays down, then you can still just eat the dye to unlock it for your account.
  • If the prices goes up but seems that it may come back down below the current price, then you can sell it high and then buy another one after the price drops to unlock for your account. This would leave you with it unlocked as well as having some coin.

There are some threads discussing dyes and their post-15th prices nearby (this for one) that have many opinions shared by players. Many of these opinions are pretty logical, though we will not know for sure how it will play out until it happens.
However, with the massive influx of players getting unidentified dyes for their duplicate unlocks, I am sure there are likely to be several more abyss going up for sale than there normally have been due to the sudden boost of opened unidentified dyes. Unfortunately, this is also speculation as we do not know if the unidentified dyes we will be granted for duplicate dyes will be account bound and unsellable, as well as their identified products being account bound to prevent a massive influx of dye supply heading out into the market.

It’s all speculation and personal preference.

  • Eat it and have it forever
  • Sell now and get the gold you can get while you know you can get it
  • Hold it and possibly sell for much less later on or end up eating it and have it forever if it goes lower in price than it is worth to you to have it unlocked
  • Hold it and sell it for much more than that it currently sells for.
    • And if the prices later goes down super low you can always buy another real cheap to unlock and have some gold to show for holding off.

Personally, I sold an abyss many months ago that I got from a dropped unidentified dye for about 28 gold. I finally just bought abyss the other day with a buy order for about 25 gold mainly because I wanted it immediately and before any price changes happen after the 15th. If I could have waited and got Abyss for 5g in a few weeks, I don’t mind the extra cost I paid to have it now as 20g isn’t that much to me. If Abyss ends up only going up in price, then I got a good deal grabbing it now over later on as I will never pay more than 30g for a dye even with it getting unlocked for my account.

For “Windowed Fullscreen” users, you can boost your gamma in other ways, like your Catalyst settings, nvidia settings, or even with the buttons on your monitor.

On Dulfy’s Map, make sure you have gotten numbers 13, 16 and 20 at the center bottom. I remember doing this and I swore I got all of them and found that apparently #13 was missed, if I recall correctly.

What world/server are you on? Perhaps I can join up with you to help ensure you get all of them without missing any.

What or where is the Train?

To upgrade the stats of an item with a more powerful and level appropriate item, while also retaining the appearance of your old item, you would need to use transmutation.

  • Acquire your desired armor with the upgraded stats
  • If you are between level 1-79 you use a Transmutation Stone (level 80 requires a Transmutation Crystal) and select the components of each item you desire to be merged into a single item.

Level 1-79 Stones are most easily acquired from fully exploring a zone (including a main city), which awards you with 3 of them, though they can also be purchased from the gem store. Level 80 Crystals are primarily acquired from the Gem Store, though they can be acquired unreliably elsewhere through playing the game.

  • Double-click the Transmutation Stone
  • Drag and drop your old armor/weapon into one panel of the transmutation window
  • Drag and drop the new armor/weapon with the new better stats into the other side of the panel
  • Click the appearance of the item you wish to keep and it will slide into the middle
  • Click the stats of the new item and it will slide into the middle
  • If you have an upgrade you can select the upgrade to include in the end product as well
  • Click Transmute to merge the stats of one item with the appearance of the other

Be sure to double check that you selected the right items before hitting Transmute.

Anet - Cultural Situation Resolution Proposal

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

[…continued]

This isn’t completely fleshed out to cover all possible issues and potential situations, but it seems like a step in the right direction to me. I even included the high gem prices that most may consider outrageous, though they are actually low in comparison to other armor skins as evidenced by the current cultural armor cost vs gem store variation cost situation.

I’m still working on the mock-ups to help visualize the changes I propose, but I really wanted to get this up here in the meantime for feedback.

My Proposal (not dependant upon PvE Wardrobe implementation)
Groundwork

  • All Cultural Armorsmith and Cultural Weaponsmith NPCs are removed from the game.
  • Gem Store Armors become purchasable on a per piece basis to maintain the individual piece purchase ability of existing cultural armors while finally offering an option that many players have asked for.
  • Purchased Gem Store Armor Pieces are added to the Account Unlocks section of the Achievements Panel (or receives its own panel).
  • Account Unlock area (or new panel) gets redesigned to be similar to the Collectibles Tab storage slots but allows displaying of unlocked skins by skin or by item category; boots, etc.
  • All available Gem Store skin piece unlocks will have a grayed-out slot until it is unlocked.
  • Players can preview individual armor pieces via right-clicking on these item slots and hitting Preview.
  • Players can also purchase skins directly from this panel for gems just as character bag slots and bank tabs can be purchased without being required to first go to the gem store.
  • A Gem Store purchase history query can verify previous skin purchases and unlock them upon first login to the game following this proposed change.
This will compensate for past pieces of gem store skins that players destroyed due to the past requirement of having to purchase a whole set just to get the one piece they wanted and unlock all skins purchased in the past through the gem store

Existing “cultural” armors:

  • Have their species restrictions removed and are converted to skins instead of armors
  • These ‘Base Skins’ (all current “cultural” armors) are made available on the Gem Store across the board for 1,500 gems for the full set (250 gems per piece).
  • Purchasing these Base Skin pieces unlock them for infinite use via the Account Unlock Panel.
  • Players who already purchased pieces of the base skin from the cultural vendor in the past can simply drag and drop their existing armor item that has the skin on it directly onto the Account Unlock Panel (similar to dragging and dropping an armor item into a transmutation window) and it will then unlock that base skin for that armor piece. This way they have it unlocked and infinite use without having to purchase the base skin again from the Gem Store or go through support to have their purchase history checked and the pieces unlocked manually.

“Base Skin” Variations:

  • Variations of base skin pieces that are made available in the Gem Store (ex. ‘Flamekissed’ version of Human Light T3) remain as single use skins.
  • Purchases of each piece of the Variation Skin will add “1x” to the skin piece slot in the Account Unlock Panel just as Finishers have on their panel.
  • Players can also see in the Account Unlock Panel a tiered “Unlock Infinite Use” arrow by the desired armor piece that points to the Base Skin armor piece.
  • Purchasing the Base Skin piece while the Variation of that piece has a supply of “0x” due to having never been purchased, causes the future purchase of that Variation skin piece to have unlimited use of it due to having already purchased the Base Skin unlock.
  • Purchasing the Base Skin piece while the Variation of that piece has a supply of “1x” due to purchasing the Variation before the Base Skin, causes the Variation to become unlocked for infinite use.
  • Purchasing the Base Skin piece while the Variation of that piece has a supply of “0x” due to the purchased Variation Skin being used on an armor piece, means the player must drag and drop the armor that has the skin on it into the Account Unlocks panel to then verify the previous purchase and unlock that Variation Skin piece for infinite use.
  • If the Base Skin for the variation is unlocked, then the additional variations become infinite use as well.
This will compensate for the situation of players having already purchased the Flamekissed armor knowing that it was single use and allows them to make it infinite use by purchasing the Base Skin piece unlock for current and future purchases so players who purchased pre-existing skin versions from the cultural NPCs do not feel cheated. To get infinite Variation Skins the Infinite Base Skin must first be purchased, which players who purchased from the Cultural NPCs already did.

Another lesbian relationship?

I have also noticed that nobody has mentioned Cymbel and Nia at Cymbel’s Rescue in Fields of Ruin. I know they are both sylvari and the known behaviors of sylvari apply, but I’ve just not seen anyone actually refer to them as examples of same gender relationships in the game, regardless of species. I used to go there and just hang out and protect the area as there are several events there of defending them and also helping Nia rescue Cymbel’s hounds that had been taken from her.

That’s officially a wrap I think. No bunny ears, but I can’t complain. :P

Anet said months ago that they wont release any more single armor skins in the gem store, just outfits.

I believe the actual statement was that full armor sets would be acquired via in-game rewards and outfits would be gem store exclusive items. I do not believe there was any mention whatsoever of single item armor skins that are not part of a set in their statement, which would include the bunny ears. This does not mean that we will definitely see bunny ears in the gem store again at some point, but it also does not mean that we definitely will not.

TP 2.0 - Interactive Dead Zone In Listings

It has been about a month. Just in case it was missed by the appropriate devs and was not seen and added to get fixed, I’ll add this one note to say that this is still an issue.

I look forward to seeing this very quick and easy fix being made in the future. Thank you.
