May want to consider saving the drawings (if you’ve not destroyed them yet) as who knows what Anet may do with excess Luck consumables in the future considering many will eventually hit 300. I’m sure Luck will be given some post-300 mf use eventually.

Sure. Go to your TP and enter or paste this case-sensitive phrase into the Search box in the top left above the search categories/bags:

I am Evon Gnashblade

Note the lowercase ‘a’ in “am”. Each other word starts with a capital letter.
Upon entering the final letter ‘e’ at the end of “Gnashblade” you’ll switch to the smaller listing view.

Enter it again to return to normal view mode.

StinVec.3621

Yeah, just checked.

it is somewhat pervy to sit here and check your breast size before and after pictures but after staring at your ummmm, chest region, I couldn’t see a big difference. Maybe because of the lighting being so different?

Okay this picture should remove any impact of different lightning.
The chest lost some volume

Left: after patch
right: before patch

I just overlayed your before pic (with 50% transparency) over your after pic and the breasts are identical in size and ‘volume’.

Oh seems like you did something wrong because I overlayed them aswell and there was a difference.

I did nothing wrong. Your overlay image does not have them on top of eachother, you have them offset.

Hellfire and Radiant chest and pants

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

StinVec.3621

There is a discussion taking place halfway down page 2 where the OP offers a suggestion to change the points at which pieces are offered.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Radiant-and-Hellfire-Armor-Skins

The thread has some great posts with thoughts expressed by players on the matter.

Overall I feel it is a good idea that seems much more thought-out and realistic than what ANet implemented. May want to read through and give your thoughts on the matter as well.

If anything us players write on the topic will make any difference we’ll see, though I highly doubt it will.

If you are playing on a Windows PC make sure you have a web browser set to be the default for opening web pages.

Also make sure you are running your game as an administrator so the game has permission to launch the web browser.

Run As Admin

  • Close your game completely.
  • Right-click your GW2 game shortcut and click on “Properties”.
  • On the “Compatibility” tab, check/enable the box at the bottom for your game to “Run As Administrator”.
  • Hit OK after making sure this setting is enabled.
  • Re-launch your game and try to do a /wiki in chat again.

Issues with character art, weapons, or armor?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Mine’s not character specific per se (and someone please correct or redirect me if I’m wrong here), but recently all player characters (excluding NPC’s) have a generic, monotone colored armor set as well as a black model base.

As far as I can tell, it doesn’t matter which character I play, which map or city I am in; it’s all the same. Likewise, I noticed the ghosts in the Plains of Ashford appear as regular citizens rather than semi translucent, blue ghosts.

I tried changing my graphics setting to best appearance, but this makes no difference.

This is an aspect of the PvE culling removal. In your Options > Graphics settings are two sliders that control the number of character models to display on-screen and the quality of those displayed models in both Open World and WvW.

Having the “Character Model Detail” slider set to “Low” will cause models that are rendered to be displayed as generic “place holder” models (the generic pvp models you are seeing currently). Lower quality generic models take less time to load into memory and less memory used in displaying. Increasing the “Character Model Detail” slider to a higher quality value will cause character models to display their customized appearances, which uses more memory and can increase loading screen times.

The last SAB had a lobby instance after entering into the portal, where you then made groups and went into the different stages. Others who may be able to answer your question may need to know what item it is you are asking about. Now that they know exactly what item you are asking about without having to search the net/wiki to get more information on it, perhaps your question is more likely to get an answer, possibly a quicker one even.

Right-mouse camera/look issues

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Main thread for this issue:
Mouse losing focus -right click to turn not working [Merged]
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Mouse-losing-focus-right-click-to-turn-not-working-Merged

All of these are related to the same issue. Most affected users encounter it with their Razer Naga and Logitech mice, though it has also been an issue for Hewlett Packard, Microsoft and generic brand mice.

Issue: Mouse Button Loses Focus and Does Not Reacquire It

  • Most of the time that this issue is present (it is inconsistent), the mouse actually loses focus and never reacquires it, which prevents character and camera orientation with the right mouse button and leaves the game in a completely unplayable state. Some days it is very bad and prevents you from even being able to play, other times it is only a couple times a minutes, but leads to frustration and not playing the game the rest of that day.

Issue: Nearby Friendly Target Being Selected Unintentionally Due To Mouse Button Losing Focus and Reacquiring It Quickly

  • The option to ‘Disable Right-click Targeting’ has helped with the linked issue of randomly selecting a nearby friendly target while moving your camera with the right mouse button. This happens because the mouse tracking has an issue to where the game reads you as releasing the mouse button (despite your having never released it) and then re-‘clicks’ the button down quickly. Due to this issue, if your cursor was over/near another friendly, then they become your new target as if you had intentionally clicked on them to select them.

Issue: Total Target Loss Due To Mouse Button Losing Focus and Reacquiring It Quickly Over Empty Area of the Screen

  • However, disabling right-click targeting and interaction has simply made the issue of a new target stop happening, the issue of losing your target due to the glitch in mouse focus persists. Now we just have target loss due to the quick un-click and re-click of the right mouse button over an empty area of the screen which deselects the current target; instead of both target loss and random friendly selection.

Sadly, I have reported dozens of improper word usage, spelling and punctuation errors in NPC dialogue, skill and item descriptions, and many other areas since the game launched. None have been fixed. I have since given up reporting them as it’s just a waste of time. Same for bugs. I don’t really see a point to reporting anything anymore as nothing is ever done about them, let alone them even acknowledging their existence. :\
It makes me sad.

Maybe you’ll get lucky and they’ll actually take the 2 seconds to modify the file to correct it…when cows fly. (yes, that was a joke related to the cow-a-pult)

Mail item to... changes To: field

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Possibly related is the issue that has been happening since release, where right-clicking an item and selecting “Mail Item To…” would automatically place the name of a nearby player into the “To” field. Even if you have nobody targeted during your entire logged in session, it would overwrite the name you manually entered with the name of the last player that was “highlighted” by facing toward them, though usually this is someone standing in front of you near a bank in a town. This has led to many items being sent to the wrong players and has never been addressed…hopefully it will be now.

Holo Wings Disappear During Some Skill Usage

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Is the back item incorrectly classified as a weapon to be hidden during some skill animations (like your weapons disappear during certain skill/chat animations), instead of as armor?

I haven’t done a thorough testing of what skills and on which classes this happens, and I’m not sure if this happens with other/all back items or with skills of other/all classes, but I know that during certain skill uses (throwing down traps) as a Ranger (and thief, I imagine) the Holographic Dragon Wings back item completely disappears for a second or two.

This may be due to the triggering of the ‘throwing down’ animation, but why would the back piece disappear unless the back item is incorrectly tied to weapon displaying, which is hidden during some animations, instead of as armor? So, when throwing a trap your weapons disappear while the animation plays…the back item is armor, not a weapon, and so should not disappear. With the back item disappearing during trap throwing, it would be equivalent to becoming completely naked or just having your boots disappear while throwing the trap if this issue was instead with another piece of armor that was incorrectly marked as a weapon to be hidden during the animation.

Tying this also into other animations, I’ve also seen back items disappear along with the weapons when “/dance”ing. I don’t know why “to prevent clipping” is the reasoning for their removal during this act, but I do not consider it to be valid; clipping during boxed animations is expected, this does not mean you remove all items that may clip. If you did hide all the items with major clipping, we would all be dancing naked as the armor does plenty of clipping while “/dance”ing.

-
I originally meant to simply mention the wings disappearing during trap throwing, but branched out to related issues while writing this. No need to give a response, I do not expect one. Just bringing an issue to your attention that you may be unaware of and also giving my opinion on a related topic.

Back to the game.

There is more than one “John Smith” in this world. John Smith is also the accepted “generic name” for males in the US and UK (and possibly elsewhere). You seem to assume they are meaning the ArenaNet John Smith, despite their stating an entirely different profession in their response.

Also, I suspect falsely reporting posts may lead to an infraction for wasting a moderator’s time (though I do not believe you actually did report it as you stated, just saying).

Weird Lighting Effect on Character

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I’ve noticed this issue happening briefly on occasion since the ToN update.

For me it seems that the lighting effects generated on the character by my having ‘Shaders’ set to ‘High’ become unapparent temporarily. For you it seems that you have ‘Shaders’ set to ‘Medium’ and temporarily see the effects that would be apparent if you had it set to ‘High’.

You can see the difference between Medium and High in my attached image. The same effects you seem to be seeing temporarily flipping in and out briefly.

I have my AoE loot bound to “L”. shrug

“L” .. hmm, could you had picked a key more far away from wasd?
Sorry, just seemed odd to me 8D

L is for Loot like C is for Cookie. I don’t use wasd for movement, anyhow.

What do you use for movement then O.o?

Arrow keys perhaps? I do. There are plenty of other keys on the keyboard to use for movement beside the w, s, a and d keys. Actually, you would probably be surprised by how many gamers use keys other than w, s, a and d for movement in all types of games. Those keys just became the default a long time ago back when games didn’t really even have customizable key bindings or mouse functions, which meant the left hand was really for movement from the left side of the keyboard and the right hand was for other actions on the right side of the keyboard. It is not the dark ages of gaming any longer and we have the ability to use keys other than the ones we were forced to use in the past. We’ve evolved past w, s, a and d for movement.

[Hero Panel] Back Items Not Displayed

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Race: All
Class: All
Gender: All …err…both
Item: All Back Items with a graphical appearance
Issue: Any ‘Back Item’ with a graphical appearance does not get displayed on the rotatable 3D model of our character in the ‘Hero Panel’. However, previewing a back item that has a graphical appearance does display it on the 3D rotatable model of our character in the ‘Preview Window’.
Additionally, ‘Back Items’ with a graphical appearance are also not displayed on our 3D rotatable models of our characters at the ‘Character Select Screen’.

I can instead add this to the “Issues with character art, weapons, or armor?” sticky thread if it would be better to report this type of issue there. It wasn’t clipping or texture related and is more of a UI issue, so I opted for bringing attention to it in its own thread.

The Small Things you want from HoT

In addition to others’ thoughts:

1) Redesigned character select screen

  • Includes actual scenery (like in GW1) of the area that the character is located
  • Also includes a lighting toggle to switch a character’s scene between nighttime and daytime and whose state is remembered across log-ins (no more blinding white background)
  • Character portraits that the snapshot is taken after the character has loaded and physics have settled so we no longer have bucktooth/squeezed chin/“holy crap!” wide eyed characters in the portraits
  • A button that enables locking the order of our characters to where we can drag the portraits to organize them in a specific order or switch it off to have the current ‘last active’ character first as it is now (I’d prefer a rotational style character selection of the actual rendered characters and the portrait section should be toggleable for those that prefer selection via portrait instead of rotating/flipping through rendered characters)
  • Currently equipped weapon set as well as back pieces being visible on the rendered characters

What is on the Sylvari head?

in Sylvari

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

To me it just looks like a “Tree Callus”. Pretty impressive that the designers of the style took that behavior into account. Most sylvari are born from pods, apparently, so treating them as if they were born on limbs of a tree and were ‘trimmed from the trunk’, so to speak, is quite interesting lore-wise.

When a tree is wounded, the injured tissue is not repaired and does not heal. Trees do not heal; they seal. If you look at an old wound, you will notice that it does not “heal” from the inside out, but eventually the tree covers the opening by forming specialized “callus” tissue around the edges of the wound. After wounding, new wood growing around the wound forms a protective boundary preventing the infection or decay from spreading into the new tissue. Thus, the tree responds to the injury by “compartmentalizing” or isolating the older, injured tissue with the gradual growth of new, healthy tissue.

Google “tree callus” for more pics of this behavior in nature.

Tree/branch stumps often produce new growth around the stump, which would be the branches growing out from around the stump in the ‘hair’ style.

Exotic Weapon as Award for Level 10 PS

I take it you were doing the level 10 story on a level 80 character? Or passed the bag to a level 80 to open?

I was under the impression that named level 80 exotics have a chance to drop from those bags regardless of the level of the character opening it, and that only non-named equipment drops were limited to being appropriate for the level of the character opening it.

It would have been a good idea and extremely logical for ArenaNet to ensure the jumping puzzles were without bugs before featuring them in a Living Story chapter and encouraging the entire playerbase to go do them again. Considering this one has been bugged for so long, either ArenaNet ‘forgot’ about this bugged jumping puzzle, they never bothered to take notice of it being reported on these forums for so long and were ‘unaware’ of it being bugged, or they knew it was bugged but couldn’t be bothered to look into fixing it prior to releasing content that was focused on the jumping puzzles. I really, really hope they only forgot about fixing it, as that is the option that is the least disappointing to me of the three I mentioned.

And there go the dyes....

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

“When you unlock a dye after the feature pack is released, all characters on your account will have unlimited access to that color.

If you already have the same dyes unlocked on multiple characters, when you log in on additional characters, you will receive one unidentified dye for each duplicate dye already unlocked on your account."

So does this mean, in order for us to make a dye account unlocked, we must buy the color and unlock it, and if we already had it unlocked on individual characters then we get an unidentified dye for each old character locked dye of that color?

So we must once again purchase a single dye of every color we want regardless of how many characters already have it unlocked?

I’m a bit confused as to what you’re asking. But from my understanding…

All dyes on your characters will be converted to account-wide. Any duplicates across characters will pop an unidentified dye into your inventory (for a chance at another color). Any dye used after the feature patch is implemented is also automatically account-wide.

By the wording it uses, it sounds like you must unlock dyes again after the patch goes in. Then, after unlocking that color to the account, logging in with a character has its unlocked dyes scanned to see if an account unlock match is found and then you get the unid dye.

Example:

  • Midnight Ice currently unlocked on 10 characters
  • Patch hits
  • No previously unlocked dyes become account unlocked
  • Must buy and activate/unlock a new Midnight Ice into the account unlocked dyes
  • Log in a character that had Midnight Ice unlocked for it and you get an unid dye

That is my understanding based on their wording. Nowhere does it say existing dyes unlock that color for the account. It says unlocking new dyes adds colors to the account unlocked dyes.

So:

  • Act as if no dyes are currently unlocked
  • Unlock the dyes you desire (buy a new one and ‘use’ it)
  • Log in each character.
For each character that has a dye that you have added to your account unlocked dyes you get an unid dye.

Stacks disappear underwater

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

A similar thread discussing this change/bug was in the GW2 Discussion sub-forum for a while and then the other day it got moved to the Profession Balance sub-forum.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/balance/bloodlust-stacking-change-is-not-right

I guess we can take that as their response on the matter as it being intentional.

I believe there are still bugs related to their undocumented change, which is why this thread is still in the bugs forum; it mentions some of those bugs/inconsistencies.

I’ve decided to completely ignore anything with stacking sigils and will be selling off the ones I have. This change makes them not worth having at all, to me, when another sigil can be more effective for my style of play.

RIP Stacking Sigils. :\ It was fun while it lasted.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

So I made a new character to experience leveling under the new system when the feature patch released. So far things are going ok, though I’ve not hit level 30 yet to unlock traits.

One thing I just ran into while exploring Kessex Hills (levels 15-25) confuses me as an implementation decision regarding unlocking specific traits.

I entered Goff’s Bandits to get the POI and released the caged trolls to get the chest in the cell. Upon beating the trolls I received an award stating I had unlocked a trait called “Pet’s Prowess” for my sub-30 ranger. It offered me an accept button which would take me directly to my traits panel to view the newly unlocked trait…but I’m not level 30 yet.

Not only can I not even look at the trait panel to see what will be available to me once I hit level 30, I can unlock a trait while I’m under level 30…in a 15-25 zone? This makes no sense.

So, as a new player:

  • I would be completely confused as to why I just unlocked a trait due to not even being allowed to look at the trait section to see that I would have needed to beat these trolls to unlock that trait.
  • I would be completely confused as to why accepting this trait unlock notification would take me into my hero panel to view the trait I just unlocked, and then seeing that I am not allowed to even see what traits are, let alone what this trait does that I just unlocked.

It’s quite a silly design.
1. Why is a player able to unlock a locked trait in a zone designated for characters below level 30 who will not even have traits unlocked and viewable yet?

2. Why can we still not even see what traits are until we are level 30 and open it up? Can we please have the trait area viewable prior to level 30 so a new player can familiarize themselves with traits and what will be available to them after they hit level 30?

3. Traits should not be available to be unlocked by completing content in zones that are sub-30 due to traits not even being viewable and unlocked until you’ve hit level 30.

State of the Game Update —Q1 2016

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

So, over then next three months should we expect eleven new I-can’t-change-anything-but-the-color &$@ing outfits and ZERO armor sets?

‘Cause its getting real old the way you are frittering away the Character Art team’s time.

I am still telling myself that the reason outfits are the only things being released (supposedly easier and quicker to make), as well as the massive lack of armors offered with HoT or added anywhere to the game, is because almost everyone that works on armors has been real busy for a year or two with making Tengu cultural armors, Tengu NPC armors and tweaking and customizing every existing armor in the game to fit and work on player Tengu.

Then again, I am also hoping that they are bringing gliding to core Tyria primarily because they will be opening the Dominion of Winds for players, which would be designed vertically so as to have the ‘racial city’ and starter zone in a single map which uses the gliding mechanics and updrafts and whatnot. Of course, this would mean Tengu playable characters would be added in as an account unlock via gem store that requires HoT to be owned instead of needing to wait an even more absurd amount of time for when another ‘expansion’ or two gets released before we get them (or another playable species). Haven’t thought out all of the potential ways this could all be designed and work properly, or how having gliding mastery as a prerequisite for making a Tengu would work, but it’s just something I still hold out hope for seeing.

Will I loose skin?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

You cannot equip an item without selecting stats. If you were to apply your wings to it right now you still would not be able to wear it without selecting stats.

Since you want to wait to select stats on the back item, but you wish to have your Holographic wings to wear right now, you can purchase back items from the trading post (or a guild back item) and apply the wings to that item to wear right now. When you select the stats on your Spinal Blades back item after the patch, you can use a transmutation charge to apply the holographic wings skin onto that back item as well since it will be unlocked in your wardrobe.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Back_item
Search for any of the following on the TP to find back items:

  • spineguard
  • brace
  • splice
  • back

Even still, applying the skin to it and then selecting stats will not revert the skin to the tempered appearance; the holographic appearance would persist even after selecting stats.

Why no capes?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

This topic always brings these images to my mind.
Using charr as an excuse is just that, an excuse, not sound reasoning to justify their non-implementation.

Charr should not have capes then, in the traditional sense.
It is not one size fits all (or one style for all). Give the other species capes or variations of capes (like the pics) and give charr something that functions appropriately for their body type and animations.

Nowhere is it said that all things must be identical across all species in the game. There are plenty of examples where things are intentionally different across the various species. Capes (or whatnot) should be no different.

Is this an exploit??? .. Southsun Instigator

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Personally, I do not think it is the aoe trap placed on the spot where he spawns that is causing the improper scaling issue.

Notice how everyone hangs out on the rocks? I feel that the area of detection (box?) that is used to scale the instigator is not large enough and does not encompass the area of the rocks where the majority are at.

And since everyone is back on the rocks out of this scaling box when he spawns and is scaled due to the instant triggering of the trap, that he is then improperly scaled.

So it is not the necro/ranger/thief dropping traps that is causing the improper scaling, it is, in fact, those hanging out on the rocks and doing the whining/incorrectly passing blame that are causing the improper scaling.

Anet needs to properly define the area of the scaling detection to include the rocky area where the majority hang out waiting for him to spawn.

Good color combinations for Sylvari?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Here are some of my female sylvari characters.

Despite some of them not being rangers and are light/heavy armor professions, and that several do not have their glow visible due to my recording these during daytime in-game, you may still be able to use some of their colors and dyes for some ideas.

Any more details wanted for sliders or armors/dyes, just message me here (or in-game to see them in person).

Are you able to post screenshots of the ones you’ve got as gifs? The thumbnails look great but (at least on my PC) those gifs are barely bigger than the thumbnail so it’s impossible to see any detail, and even harder when won’t stop moving.

Here’s my latest sylvari, for the beta test. Gaile’s post may have had some slight influence (although blue and purple are also my favourite colours, I usually have to make a concious effort to pick anything else).

Hey, Danikat!

Some of the images are pretty out of date (years old) and others are of characters I’ve long since abandoned, so I apologize if I do not have the exact appearances immediately at hand to recapture, but I hope this combo pic of some of their current appearances will offer closer details you are wanting.

The lower bar is of alt armors for one character (really love the blue on her) and then an orange character I’ve not done much with as I am still looking to acquire destroyer orange and better orange colors.

(not very happy with the selection of orange dyes available in-game as well as those that are available not dyeing medium armor materials too well)

Black Lion Trading Company issue

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

As you’ve already cleared your game cache, checked the game for errors and ensured you are “Running As Administrator”, could you also check these:

1) Check for conflicting programs

  • If you recently starting using any new programs like Mumble or MSI Afterburner, these programs seem to have an overlay aspect to them that interferes with the trading post’s functionality. Disabling these from running with GW2 can prevent the conflict.

2) Disable any proxy settings
(unless your internet specifically requires a proxy set to connect to the internet; e.g. dormatory, work comp, etc.)

  • Check your Control Panel > Internet Options > Connection settings and make sure to disable any Proxy Setting that may be enabled there.
    Proxy Check/Disable
In your Windows Control Panel via your Start Menu:
    • Choose to view as icons instead of as categories in the top right.
    • Open Internet Options
      • Click on the Connections tab
      • At the very bottom click on LAN Settings
        • Check/tick the Automatically Detect Settings box
        • Make sure the lower Proxy Server boxes are unchecked

3) Configure Anti-virus & Firewall
(I know you mentioned that you disabled them, but sometimes they can still cause issues based on their settings even if disabled)

  • Check your Anti-virus and Firewall to make sure they are not blocking the program “awesomium_process.exe” (the trading post) from running. Can also try manually white-listing the program so it will not be restricted from accessing the internet.

What would you like to see in next expansion?

  • Playable Tengu.
(or any of the several other potentially playable species <3 Largos)
(then again, I’d much prefer them to be added sooner than in the next expansion, possibly as a 10k gem account unlock in the gem store – I’d buy that in a heartbeat)

edit:

  • Everything Ashen and coso posted below me
  • A vast new selection of frequently added armor skins being earnable in-game (without massive grind), as general drops, and for sale in the gem store

Mobs/enemy spawns not registering dead?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

The Hylek Flame cannons in Caledon Forest recently developed this issue as well. Right when they should die their bar stays all black/empty and my auto-attack continues to attack it for another 2-4 seconds, all the while it is not shooting at me and my shots are not making the ‘impact’ noise or any graphic of my arrows hitting them. It then finally disappears/dies and I receive no experience or anything.

Mordrem Invasion Feedback [merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

My take on it is.

ANet has forgotten how to have fun.

They are designing events that are grind fests with low rewards. Even their holidays are grind fests. Instead of holiday related events that happen once a year and you get a different Holliday hat each year or something for doing them, it’s endlessly running around killing things to get the loot. Or no loot now as the case seems to be.

Since they’ve forgotten how to have fun, they think that grinding these events for hours over the days to get enough to tokens to BUY one reward with gold is fun.

It’s not. It’s really not.

Not only is the grind incredible and the rewards meager but they’ve completely cut the new players out of getting anything nice. The new players don’t have the dps, the waypoints, and they for sure can’t afford the gold cost of buying even if they do get enough tokens. What are they supposed to do, grind for the blossoms and then get nothing from the vendor? Who thought of this?

It’s like the devs designed the rewards with a calculator where their heart should be. Thinking first of the economy. Thinking, “how much of a gold sink can this event be”, when they should have been thinking, “how much fun can this event be?”

Dead on with my feelings. Thank you for writing that out. I really, really miss the fun events we all know they can make.

Regarding new players, it is possible that they planned it like that:

  • New players grind to get blooms, but lack the gold needed to buy an item
  • The new player needs to buy gems with real money and convert it to gold to be able to spend the blooms they just spent the weekend grinding for.

It makes me sad that I find this type of greedy thinking to be entirely plausible for the new ANet instead of being an utterly outrageous theory. Very sad indeed.

Post your favorite moment in-game

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Started my first character after picking up the game the day it came out. I went with human thief and, after going through the starter mission, I turned and ran up the hill and into Divinity’s Reach. I did not leave for at least 3 days as I wandered the streets in awe at the scale, the sights and the sounds. I really mean it – I did not even venture out into the rest of the game for at least three days and really did spend my in-game time wandering around the city and down the dark alleyways.

Shortly thereafter, I made a sylvari and didn’t leave the Grove and caledon for a couple weeks. Friends (at the time) that I started playing with were all about racing through content and had already explored and ‘map completed’ all the starter areas before I even made it up to the water and Tengu Bridge area of Caledon, let alone knew what map completing even meant.

Here I am still playing completely solo and enjoying content, while they raced and didn’t appreciate anything and ditched to play some other random game after a few weeks. What I find pretty funny (and sad) is, a few of them came back about two months ago and logged in for maybe 3 hours total and combined over 2 days without saying a word. In that short time all they seemed to do is decide to kick me from our guild we had that I had built up on my own after they quit, and then they quit and disappeared again, off to play Warframe or Kerbal or some other random game for one week before jumping to yet another game. It sounds like I may be a bit sour about that, but it’s actually one of my favorite in-game moments; reminded me of how even friends that you know and talk to practically every day in-game and out-of-game for 10 years can suddenly change or disappear altogether, or suddenly change and then disappear.

I still enjoy wandering the streets of DR.
There’s a lot of fun to be had (and re-had) in GW2.

so from what I can get from /deaths.. I have 1774 total deaths on my account, giving myself a higher than actual cost per death (as not all of those are level 80 characters, and none of my characters has higher than a 2s repair bill per death) of 2s per death.. I’ll save.. 35 gold for a year and a half of content.. no idea how many times I’ve respecced but it’s not often and so I’ve probably spent less than 5 gold on respeccing (that’s a very high estimate).. to give a round figure of 40g in savings.. I think this change is just going to be net loss in money for me. I’d rather have waypoint costs removed than repairs. Waypoints cost way more than repairs.

So.. I guess.. use those instant repair canisters I’ve been hoarding before the 15th..

Repair canisters still retain all of their usefulness after the 15th as they are a convenience item that allows you to repair your equipment anytime you want out in the field instead of having to visit a repair NPC. The only thing that is changing is that people who take the time to visit a repair NPC to repair their equipment will no longer need to pay the little bit of coin it currently costs.
