[Merged] Cultural Human T3 Not Exclusive

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Hey, everyone. We’ve been reading all your feedback about the Flamekissed Armor Skin that was released into the Gem Store yesterday.

Although the Flamekissed Armor uses the same mesh as the Tier 3 Human Cultural Armor, it was not our intention to create an armor skin that so closely matched the existing Tier 3 Human Cultural armor set. The intention was to use the mesh as a basis for creating an armor set that stands apart and is distinct in appearance. However, after reading your feedback, we agree that the Flamekissed armor is not visually distinct enough from Human Cultural Tier 3 armor.

We will do a few things to address this issue.

  • We will temporarily remove Flamekissed Armor Skin from the Gem Store.
  • Players who have purchased Flamekissed Armor Skin will keep the skin.
  • We will make new art for the Flamekissed Armor Skin that achieves our goal of making a visually distinct and attractive armor set and does not closely resemble the Human Tier 3 Cultural armor.
  • Once this new artwork is completed, we will then update the Flamekissed Armor Skin so that all existing sets that players have purchased get the new art. We will also offer the Flamekissed Armor Skin for sale again at that time.
  • When we update the Flamekissed Armor Skins with the new artwork, any player that has already purchased the set and who does not like the new, updated look, can get a full refund by contacting Customer Support.

Note that there is no ETA on when this change will happen. We need to work with the Character Art Team to determine when we can have a new armor skin ready, and this could take some time.

Thank you everyone for providing your feedback. We appreciate that you took the time to let us know how you feel about the new armor set.

I’m very disappointed that this is the way that was chosen to handle this situation despite many alternatives that take a little more effort and do not involve taking the new Flamekissed skin away from players who wished to have it, have already purchased it, and are very pleased with it.

Closest Target Bug and Movement Bug

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Not a problem. Also, the forum “Search” feature has been completely broken for well over 6 months (which is the main reason for my starting the tracker thread). I don’t want you to waste time using it in the future, so you can instead use Google to search the forums to actually receive search results. You can specify the actual website, or simply do a search for “GW2 forum bug” and include the keyword for the issue/bug topic you are looking for. It helps to also narrow the search to within the last week or month if you feel it is a recent issue.

Here’s that issue from the tracker:

Functionality (Hover on INFO for issue description)

(I actually just reworded the issue so it could be found in the list easier)

Suggestion: A pet for everyone

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

No, this would be just like that other horrible MMO which I will not name, where you can have a pet and it gives stats, making it a requirement to get best in slots, if ever they do this It should only be cosmetic and Cash shop

Consumables (food, oils/stone/crystal) give stats and many feel they are required for maximizing stats. Should those not even be in the game due to many even kicking players from dungeon parties if they don’t have them? You cannot talk about additional items being required for maximum stats without pointing fingers at other things already in the game like those items.

How to improve the Wardrobe System

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Ohoni, what they really need to do is if you send an unused gem store outfit with baked in transmute charges to the wardrobe, it credits you with the charges still baked in.

I Agree
I completely agree with you. Instead of having to hoard unused armor skins, we should be able to add an unused skin item from the gem store to the wardrobe, which automatically adds its free application charge to your wallet’s transmutation charges for use to apply any skin.

Outmoded System Elements
Skin items received from gem store mails should no longer have existed as items once the wardrobe/T-Charge system was implemented. When a player accepts the purchased skin(s) from the gem store delivery mail, the skin(s) should automatically be unlocked and a transmutation charge(s) added to the wallet.

  • No need to first open a single received box and turn one item into 6 individual skins just to unlock the individual skins for the armor set in the wardrobe
  • No need to store any unused/undesired items from the set until some future time when you may want to use the free application for the skin
  • No chance of wasting transmutation charges applying unlocked skins because you forgot that you have these unused free application skin items in storage from 2 years ago -_-

Ugh
I have one character dedicated to storage for armor skins that I’ve purchased but not yet used. I would really like to be able to send these skins to the wardrobe/wallet as transmutation charges instead of using a character slot as a mule to store all of them.

Perhaps some day.

Seriously the old login screen was beautiful.

StinVec.3621

Gw1 logging screen was and it’s the most beautiful log screen ever maded. Always changed whit next exp pack.
Also the gw2 old log screen was amazing, I don’t know why they changed.

Was this a beta character select screen you’re referencing? I’ve played from day 1 of live and the current character select screen is the only one I’ve ever experienced.

Can you describe this old GW2 character select screen? Or are you actually referring to the pre-game launch “Login/Patching” Launcher? Even still, was it a beta Launcher? As I’ve also only ever had the current Launcher since day 1 of live.

Explain the Asura ranger to me..

in Asura

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

My asura ranger, Xevoxia, has always found the organic to be just as fascinating as the mechanical. She uses her time in the field with an organic companion to take notes on the intricacies of behaviors displayed by the various species she comes across in Tyria. The oddness of their readily following her and obeying her commands, coupled with the occasional flat out refusal to engage other creatures when commanded in some situations, has led her studies into one focused on free will.

Due to the unpredictability of most organics, and their actions occasionally veering from what logic dictates, she strives to completely analyze the concept of free will in organic and mechanical creatures and then apply it to her grand experiment; to attempt to successfully meld the organic and mechanical into a single coherent creature free from most, if not all, limitations – an Orgamechoid.

Customer Support and the Feature Pack

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

What if I bought 25 transmutation splitters, havent used them yet, and dont wish to change my 6k gem worth items on 4k gem worth items? Can I get my 6k gems back? There might have been sale…I dont remember. So maybe I bought them cheaper, but it still was around 5k gems.

They recently stated that transmutation splitters will still retain their current functionality. I think they will have it so you can right-click it and select to convert it to T-Charges, but double-clicking it will activate as normal. So they will still have their functionality for the purpose they were purchased for.
I’ll see if I can find where they mentioned this.

edit
Found it.

Coming Soon – Feature Pack Changes
-
As many of you are aware, there are some exciting changes on the horizon! The Black Lion Trading Company is making some adjustments, which I’d like to address now:
-
To support the new Wardrobe system, Transmutation Crystals and Transmutation Stones will be converted into Transmutation Charges! Double-click on stored Crystals to convert them 1:1 into Charges, and double-click on stored Stones to convert them 3:1 into Charges. Transmutation Charges will replace Crystals as drops from the Black Lion Chest.
-
Transmutation Splitters will continue to work on items that were transmuted before the April 2014 Feature Pack. You also have the option of exchanging Transmutation Splitters for 5 Charges at a Black Lion Armor Trader in any major trading post.
-
Finally, from April 15 onward, your Trading Post history will show only the last 90 days. If you want to look further back into your transaction history, you’ll need to do so in the next week!

Molten Sickle Axe and Pick - Offers?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

The mining pick was not initially reintroduced at the same time as the new molten tools being offered on the gem store. After a day or so passed with several requests for it to also be made available again, and that it was logical to offer it again at the same time as the new molten tools despite having been available about a month or so ago, ANet tossed it onto the gem store again. This is why it is not included in the news post that was only highlighting the new molten tools.

As for how long they will all be in the store, they’ve normally kept them in for a week to 10 days. When it gets down to about 3 or 4 days left then this gets stated on the item’s listing as having that many days left in the gem store.

When it gets down to 24 hours remaining then it switches to an exact countdown timer until it will no longer be available. After they are gone from the store then players desiring any of them will need to wait around an uncertain amount of time for them to be temporarily available again.

Projected profit off at Trader

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

There is a 5% Listing Fee and a 10% Sales Fee.
The Projected Profit does not include the 5% listing fee in its calculation.
Due to this, one can actually lose coin on the sale despite the Projected Profit showing…well, a profit.

To find out your actual Profit, you must manually subtract the Listing Fee from the Projected Profit to see how much profit you are actually making on selling the item.

Yeah, it’s pretty silly and illogical that Projected Profit does not also take the Listing Fee into account when displaying your Projected Profit. It isn’t actually showing your Projected Profit for the entire transaction.

  • 10c – Item Vendor Value
  • 11c – Buy order for item
    Sell item to Buy Order
  • 1c – Listing Fee
  • 1c – Sales Fee
  • 10c – Displayed Projected Profit (does not include listing fee)
  • 9c – Actual coin gained from selling the item

Result: 1c loss on the sale over just vending the item for 10c.

Again, Projected Profit does not include the Listing Fee, only Sell price minus 10% Sales Fee. In the above example you are actually paying 1c to get rid of the item instead of vending it.

Scale these values higher and the loss is even greater.

  • 99c – Item Vendor Value
  • 1s – Buy order for item
    Sell item to Buy Order
  • 5c – Listing Fee
  • 10c – Sales Fee
  • 90c – Displayed Projected Profit (does not include listing fee)
  • 85c – Actual coin gained from selling the item

Result: 14c loss on the sale over just vending the item for 99c.

Before listing an item, be sure to manually subtract the Listing Fee from the Projected Profit to find out the real amount of coin you’ll get from the entire transaction.

  • Sell If:
Projected Profit – Listing Fee = Higher than Vendor Value
  • Vend If:
Projected Profit – Listing Fee = At or below Vendor Value
This is if you have no interest in salvaging blue/green items for Luck or Materials.

Never enough of technology...

in Twilight Assault

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

  • Clothing and the means to craft them is technically ‘technology’, even if it is only a needle and thread being used to sew hunks of animal skin together.
  • Purifying water through boiling it is ‘technology’.
  • Even igniting wood logs to generate the fire to boil that water is ‘technology’.

However, I believe most are interpreting the use of the word ‘technology’, in reference to elements that have been introduced into the game world, as being primarily non-magical in nature and of being more akin to real-world mechanical, metal and electricity-based technology, which is out of place in this magic-filled fictional world with some alternate physics to our own reality.

I think the issue many have is that they feel there has been too much ‘real world’ injected into their ‘fantasy world’. This issue can also be seen by some to extend down to the in-game references to real world products and pop culture that permeate so many aspects of the game.
Among countless others is the entirety of SAB, as well as this humorous exchange:
“You got your moa jerky in my yak butter!”
“You got your yak butter on my moa jerky!”

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

You may want to check your audio device configuration to ensure it is set to ‘Stereo’ and not set for ‘5.1/7.1 Surround Sound’.

Win7:

  • Control Panel
  • Sound
  • Hit Configure button in the dialogue box.
  • Select the appropriate Stereo or Headphones option.

Win XP:

  • Control Panel
  • Sounds and Audio Devices
  • Volume Tab
  • Lower “Speaker Settings” area
  • Advanced button
  • Then under the “Speaker Setup” drop-down menu, select “Stereo Headphones”.

Also check the “Exclusive Mode” setting for the device as perhaps another application launched before GW2 has been given exclusive access to the audio device which prevents GW2 sound from being sent to the device.

Also, if you are using a Logitech (or Razer) headset and are running the configuration software that came with it, also check to see if it is running in Surround Sound mode, or if you have enabled the “Surround Sound” button inside that software.

Hazmat Suit ? where can i buy it?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Yeah, the wiki page is odd. It actually describes two versions of the hazmat suit, one with skills bought with karma, and another without skills and purchased with coin…but it only references where to get the one without skills and for coin.

I’m looking to see where the version with skills can be purchased for karma. Will update if I find it.

edit
I think the combat version that had skills and was bought with karma was from during beta. It seems that now there is only the tonic version bought with coin that does not offer skills.

One user on Dulfy.net wrote this about it:
Hazmat Suit Transformation Tonic – Is not strictly non-combat. While you can’t pick up environmental weapons off the ground, it can be used with other ‘toys’ for great fun. Ie. fireworks or teleportation gun (flying golem anyone?) but most importantly, you can use items like the med kit, or charrzooka (which CAN be purchased near shatterer spawn after a certain event ends there. Not sure which event) while transformed. I fought shadow behemoth the other day as a rocket powered Hazmat Suit. Gold medal and all.

Revenant Test Weekeend Questions

in Revenant

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I see a lot of really good questions being asked.

It is quite disappointing to see that they are not being answered.

I find it quite odd that they would post the announcement for the event less than 3 days before the event takes place, and to then also not include information on what to expect from the event which has led to all of these questions. With there now being less than 2 days before the event starts, I suppose there is still a little bit of time to sneak in last second with answers to some of these valid questions and concerns. The lack of answers leaves me wondering if they, themselves, hadn’t considered some of the scenarios and details being asked about. It could explain why they are not answering them – they don’t have an answer to give yet as they are busy racing to account for the situations and questions being raised before the event starts. Wouldn’t surprise me. Not much they do (or do not do) surprises me anymore.

Heroric edition gear

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

It depends on what gear you are referring to.

If you mean that you got a full set of legacy armor skins (Profane-Light, Krytan-Medium or Primeval-Heavy) and applied them to the armor of your current character, but you would like to instead apply it to a different character now or at a later date that can wear that armor weight, then you will not have a problem after April 15th when the wardrobe goes into effect.

After the 15th, any armor skins you equip or manually unlock will be available permanently and infinitely for use from the wardrobe on any other characters across the account.

As it is now, those armor skins were one-time use and are lost if they or the character they are on is deleted. I recommend you not destroy those armor pieces or delete the character that they are bound to or the skin will be lost and will need to be re-purchased again.

Once the 15th comes with the game update at that time, you can log into the character that has the armor skins bound to it and they will automatically be unlocked for the account.

If you do not wish to wait until the 15th to transfer the armor skins to another character, then you would need to follow a roundabout way to transfer the skins to another character immediately. This method will use up quite a few transmutation stones (for characters level 1-79, crystals for characters level 80) as well as having to purchase additional armor.

It is best that you wait until April 15th when the change is made and your skins become available in the wardrobe and are then able to be used by all characters on the account.

Just as a note, they recently changed the default interaction key after you hit F12 from ‘space bar’ to ‘Enter’.

They also changed the default selection to the “Exit To Character Select” option instead of the “Exit Game” option.

Now you can simply hit “F12 > Enter” to quickly log out to the character select screen so there is no need to rely on clicking the options and potentially hitting the Exit Game one.

I am NOT a Hero

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

when everyone feels like a hero every day, then no one is truly a hero.

I don’t care what everyone else feels like when they play, I play to change how I feel.

I don’t care what others have achieved, I play for the things I achieve.

I don’t care what skins everyone else is wearing, how common the new shiny is or how 1337 their gear/appearance is, I care about how my characters look while I’m out mowing down bad guys with my new shiny. If someone else (or everyone else) has that same shiny, good for them.

I don’t care what roles other people have played in this ongoing story, I care about how I am part of this evolving world and what my role is, has been, and will be. So far my role in the changing of this world hasn’t been all that impressive or grand (to me).

If I wanted someone else taking credit for something I did then I’d stay in the real world instead of escaping to this fantasy game where I could be recognized, cheered and rewarded for my actions.

There is far too much real world making its way into this fantasy game.

So I am left being just a random dude roaming the countryside in an attempt to escape game content that seems no different from the real world content that I play the game to escape.

I am Random Guy…I’ll be in the woods if you need me.

Client repair instructions are invalid.

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

The most common mistake is failing to include a ‘space’ between the end quotes " and the -repair argument. The path will be invalid without the space separating the path and the argument as it will be seeing the entire line of continuous text as specifying the path instead of a path followed by an argument.

  • Close your game/launcher completely
  • Right-click your game shortcut and select ‘Properties’
  • On the ‘Shortcut’ tab, the first line says “Target:”, immediately after the end quotation mark in this field, put a space and then add -repair
It will look like this (but with your installation location):
    “F:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -repair
  • Again, make sure there is a space between the " and -repair
  • Hit OK and save this change to the shortcut properties.
  • Run the shortcut and it’ll repair the game files if any are damaged.
  • After the repair is finished, close the launcher, remove the -repair argument that you added (including the space) and save this change to the shortcut properties again.
  • Run the game as normal to see if it’s fixed.

(it is likely that the repair will dip into the ‘not responding’ state often, but it should finish properly after a few minutes or so, but a repair may take up to about 30 minutes to complete depending on your system specs)

Can also preview all available greatswords and other weapons in the wardrobe tab of your bank.

Here are some pics from Argos-soft of purplish ones:

  • Chiroptophobia
  • Vision of the Mists
  • Nightmare Greatsword
  • Peacemaker’s Greatsword
  • Tormented Greatsword
  • Wupwup Claymore

Scarlet's True Legacy

in Living World

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

scarlet’s true legacy? whiners.

Or maybe fanbois?

The cost? Some of ANet’s dignity and a large chunk of their reputation. Did they learn their lesson? I doubt it. They may think they’ve learned, and they may take a few steps in a better direction, but I don’t think the people in charge there see the real missteps yet.

True. I mean they’re heads are still so far up their own awful story they call her “one of the most iconic characters of Guild Wars 2” & dredged her back up in articles on her “Legacy”. I get the feeling they do things just to get back at that awful majority that called them out on that train wreck.

Indeed. That made me literally laugh out loud when I read that!
Actually, several parts of that video made me laugh too…though it kind of also left me feeling bad for Tara for agreeing to do the voice of Scarlet. Though I suppose work is work.

Runes of Vampirism - Consolidated Issues

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Superior Rune of Vampirism

(1): +25 Power
(2): 5% chance to cause your next attack to steal health when hit. (Cooldown: 15s)
(3): +50 Power
(4): Your next attack after using your healing skill steals health.
(5): +90 Power
(6): You become mist when you fall below 10% health. (Cooldown: 60s)

Issues: Set Bonus #6

  • Bonus #6 doesn’t always trigger when reaching 10% hp or less.
  • It has also been reported as triggering when reaching 10% downed-state health instead of at 10% hp in the active state.
  • Old Bonus #6 issue, aahisatonapin.8057 recently reported it as no longer functioning incorrectly in this manner:
When Bonus #6 does trigger, the Mist Form you are placed in does not have any graphical appearance to show you as being in Mist Form, yet it does force all skill loss for 3 seconds as it should, but it does not apply invulnerability for that time as it should.

Major Rune of Vampirism & Superior Rune of Vampirism
Issues: Set Bonus #4

  • Using Self Heal (skill #6) and then attacking a single target enemy does not steal health.
  • Using Self Heal (skill #6) and then attacking target enemies with an AOE damaging skill does not steal health from even one target from within the AOE.

One cause of Bonus #4 not working is the documented issue of:
“When an armor piece is damaged and then repaired, you must un-equip all armor pieces and re-equip them again otherwise the 4th bonus will not work. You will no longer see the Leech indicator.”
Players have reported that the damaging of armor following death is enough to cause this issue, not the act of repairing the damaged armor from death. Switching to towns clothes and back functions the same as un-equipping all armor and re-equipping them and is much quicker.

Jason King noted these issues as being investigated over 10 months ago but they were never addressed.

  • Looking to test out if the issue of Bonus #6 triggering late and happening after being put into the downed-state still happens. It would cause you to be downed, in mist form and locked out of skills, but still be vulnerable. (aka: sitting duck)
  • Looking to test out if the issue of Bonus #6 triggering when reaching 50% and/or 10% of life force while in Death Shroud still happens.
  • Looking to test out if the issue of inconsistent Mist Form duration when Bonus #6 triggers still happens. (less than 1 second – 5 second durations reported)

Pics, Vids, player testing, possibly some more issues:

Will look to update this after more confirmations that some of the other bugs with these runes still exist. Though giving the coding of these runes a thorough looking at would be the most ideal solution.

Does anyone even use this rune set anymore? Are any other bugs with these runes still around?

Active participation vs. "leeching"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Regarding Shadow Behemoth:

I’m glad they thought to spawn transportation portals at the pre-event sites. That was a very good thing to save players that are actually helping advance the pres from having to waypoint back to the Behemoth (and thus miss the portal closing segment in the swamp prior to the Behemoth’s rising). They at least made it less of a hassle to participate in the pre-events for SB.

Regarding leechers during the ‘main event’:

When the portal phase is active 3+ times longer than the damage phase due to 90% of the scaling “participants” sitting there doing nothing to contribute to advancing the event at the face of the Behemoth (where they endure no risk whatsoever), something is very wrong with the design.

I request ArenaNet make these changes:

  • Massive AoE damage area covering the entire section directly in front of the boss after the portal phase becomes active
  • AoE damage area increases in intensity every second to where remaining is certain death (much like getting too close to the base of the Behemoth)
  • AoE damage area slowly expands outward and around to the sides, slowly encircling the boss, until the portals are all destroyed (so the blob doesn’t just move off to stand at the side when the portal phase begins and are instead encouraged to keep moving to avoid the expanding AoE damage area)

This will encourage the 60+ people that don’t move from its face area during the portal phase to actually help close the portals instead of standing there and letting 4-6 real players do all the work of taking down the portals while evading the half a dozen champions and dozen elites that spawn with them.

I no longer participate in this event due to it being made no fun whatsoever by the lazy leechers forcing all of the risk and effort onto the few participating in the event as it was intended. I will not be wasting my game time on this once-enjoyable activity until it is changed to no longer reward inactivity and non-participation.

As a side note regarding Ulgoth the Modniir:

  • ArenaNet, please finally get around to correcting the show/hide code so the collision box for the event chest is not there at all times. The collision box has always been there even when the event is not taking place. It is especially aggravating when the event is active and players constantly run into this invisible box while trying to maneuver around the boss. If there is no chest, there should be no collision box for the chest.

Hobo-Tron Appreciation Thread!

in Queen's Jubilee

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I thought Hobo-Tron was pretty awesome

…but regarding continuity, any reason why Rox and Braham have no idea who I am anymore? It hasn’t been that long since I saw them last to have to reintroduce myself all over again.

Braham and Rox recognize me(see attachments) just fine.

Thanks for replying with your pics showing they recognize you. My results are most likely due to my being on a more recently created character at the time I talked to them, and they apparently don’t recognize all of our characters as being the same player. I find this odd, seeing that the achievements associated with Flame and Frost and Rox and Braham were all account-wide achievements, so not sure why they would recognize one character on my account and not another.
I’ll check back with them with a character I actually did F&F content with to see if their responses are different. I’m hopeful I’ll also hit up Hobo-Tron again, maybe dance with him.

It has nothing to do with which character you use. As I posted above, its a difference between the story instance and the uninstanced Pavilion area.

They recognize you when you’re in the story instance. They don’t recognize you when you’re in the non-instance. I have no idea why there’s a disconnect between the two.

Ah I see. You’re dead on with it. I didn’t realize Turtle’s pics were from within the instance, I didn’t look at it as closely as I should have.
I would think that interacting with them in the general non-instanced area, that they would query our achievements to see if we’ve taken part in content that involved them, so they would offer appropriate conversation content and options. Seems like that would be something that would have been in place already. Oh well, I guess.

Now, if Hobo-Tron would have this recognition it would be pretty awesome. He needs his own Living World quest content Maybe have us gathering things for him like replacement parts, oil or lubricant, maybe some stuff to ‘pimp’ him out a little I’d play that.

30 April Patch Notes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Hi I’m new, I was wondering how patching works here. Basically when does it start and how long does it last?

If “Patch Day” is April 30th, then the patching can occur at anytime while it is still the 30th according to the time zone where Anet is located; PDT.

So, while it could happen at any time, from 12:00AM until 11:59PM PDT, it will most likely ‘go live’ around 2:00PM to 4:00PM PDT as that is about the time previous patches have been released.

When they ‘go live’ with the patch, you can begin downloading the update immediately. Expect it to take quite a while, depending on your connection speed and the size of the patch. I’m anticipating about a 440MB patch, though it is possible that it will be much smaller or much larger, we just don’t know until it gets here. Also, while patching you will have no clue as to how large the actual size of the patch is as the progress bar increases based on percentage of files downloaded, not the size of the files downloaded.
So if you have 100 files to download, and you have 50 files downloaded, your progress bar will read 50%…even if those 50 files you have make up less than 1% of the total size of all files you will need to download. It is very, very misleading, and annoying, as you actually have no clue how long the download will take. It could be a 1gig update, and have 99% on your progress bar, but that last file could be 500mb in size…so you’ll be sitting at 99% for like an hour or something.

Just watch for the patch to go live and start downloading as soon as possible. If the release notes are available at the same time then read through and study the changes while waiting. When you’re finished with those , read ’em again Then, while you are continuing to wait, say hi to some family, play with the cat/dog (or shave the cat/dog), trim toenails, draw on yourself, make armpit farts, or hit YouTube

—PS—
If for some reason your updating encounters an issue, do not be alarmed. There are a lot of people patching at the same time so many of us will encounter stalled updating, or an inability to update at all for some time. Just be patient and your update should eventually finish.

—PPS—
Don’t actually shave your cat/dog…that’s cruel. But do trim your toenails…and draw on yourself, it’s fun.

Death/Downed Camera...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Huh, I can see how it would be frustrating for it to restart the spinning. Perhaps there is a happy middle ground where it starts out spinning then once you move the camera it stops.

I agree with you on that as being a good compromise.
Another alternative would be to allow an on-screen element to become visible upon death where you can toggle the rotation on or off, and this setting would persist across deaths and game sessions. I picture it similar to the “Interact [F]” splash on the screen located at 4 o’clock, but I picture the toggle being located at about 2 o’clock. Could even develop other elements for the other areas of the clock face for different things in the future.

Also:
Can you please give us any word on if you will look into re-fixing the issue of the camera auto full zooming in upon becoming downed? It had been a serious issue and was corrected so the camera would stop doing that, but it got reintroduced again earlier in the year and has not been addressed again.

Stuck in the map or seeing map art issues?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Shrine of the Six, Divinity’s Reach

This is not map related, but it is a pretty serious art bug. There are 6 stained glass windows inside the Shrine of the Six (one for each God), but when you go outside there are only 5. The stained glass window for Grenth has mysteriously disappeared when you view the shrine from outside.

I’ve attached a picture of the inside and outside for comparison. Notice how Grenth is between Lyssa and Balthazar on the inside of the shrine, but the outside stained glass panels skip from Lyssa directly to Balthazar. This does not make any sense at all and should be corrected.

The Balthazar stained glass is also not reversed when viewed from outside. It looks the same whether you look at it from inside or outside instead of being reversed.

Issues with the trading post: please post here [MERGED]

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Tried the repair and delete cache method, still cant fix it. Any other options?

As you’ve already cleared your game cache and ran repair, perhaps also:

1) Try ensuring you are Running As Administrator

2) If you recently starting using any new programs like Mumble or MSI Afterburner, these programs seem to have an overlay aspect to them that interferes with the trading post’s functionality. Perhaps disable them while playing GW2 if this is the case.

3) Check your Control Panel > Internet Options > Connection settings and make sure to disable any Proxy Setting that may be enabled there. (unless your connection explicitly requires a proxy set to connect to the internet)
Proxy Check/Disable
In your Windows Control Panel via your Start Menu:

  • Choose to view as icons instead of as categories in the top right.
  • Open Internet Options
    • Click on the Connections tab
    • At the very bottom click on LAN Settings
      • Check/enable the Automatically Detect Settings box
      • Make sure the lower Proxy Server boxes are unchecked

4) Check your Anti-virus and Firewall to make sure they are not blocking the awesomium_process.exe (the trading post) from running? Can also try manually white-listing the program so it will not be restricted from accessing the internet.

Zodiac Armors Feeback

in Black Lion Trading Co

I just pointed out a clipping issue on female sylvari where the ‘underwear’ of the armor clips right through the back end of the skirt of the armor.

Just wanted to warn others of this and to maybe hold off on getting the armor (for a female sylvari) until it gets fixed as it is pretty bad most of the time.

ALSO
The inside texture of the skirt does not match up with the outside texture of the skirt on both sides.

  • Outside texture hangs off of the outside lower bone of the waist armor
  • Inside texture hangs off of the top-inner bone of the waist armor

[suggestion] Make mouse arrow HIGHLY visible

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

On Windows, there is a mouse option that you can turn on that will make a visible circle appear around your cursor when you press ctrl. Works while in GW2 as well.

I’m not a designer so I can’t speak as to why or why not the mouse cursor is as it is, but this tip just saved me. Thank you, Olba!!

Can you guys share the secret/tip. How do you activate it?

In Windows > Start Menu > Control Panel > Mouse > Pointer Options tab > At the bottom enable location marker option

I’ve tried changing that setting. It works when I’m on the desktop, but doesn’t seem to work in game

Hmm.
Perhaps that function works similarly to some other cursor overlay applications to where it requires Windowed or Windowed Fullscreen mode to be visible on the GW2 cursor. This is due to the graphic on and around your cursor essentially being just an overlay window at the location of the cursor and not a replacement of the actual cursor image. Running in fullscreen mode prevents such windowed elements from being on top of the game window so it may be appearing, just behind the game window at the location of the cursor. Running in Windowed or Windowed Fullscreen mode should allow it to be visible at the location of the cursor when activated.

I highly recommend those having issues to try using yolomouse (thanks again for linking it) until ANet gets around to offering in-game options.

These are some stills of some of the animated cursors I’m currently using.

Would you rather all waypoints were removed?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Fewer waypoints in each zone
I feel that each zone should have fewer waypoints as some of them are quite excessive with their placement. However, if waypoint numbers remain as they are currently (unlikely to ever have a reduciton), then I would like to see:

Players must be at a waypoint in order to travel to another waypoint
I really don’t like people simply disappearing (en masse in train cases) from the game world to then suddenly appear at a waypoint. Also, I do not understand how a player accesses the waypoint system without actually being at a waypoint. Players should be required to run to a waypoint and interact with it to then bring up a map of waypoints to transfer to.

Dry Top Waypoints Flickering

in Living World

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Yep. I spent quite a bit of time sitting there watching and appreciating that little touch. Really made the existence of waypoints to be more than a simple game mechanic and really seems to be acknowledgement of them within the game world as being a thing like having been set up hastily with a non-permanence feel to them, and hence the faulty or insufficient power being supplied to them that causes the flickering. My thoughts on it anyway.

The only other time I recall seeing an in-game acknowledgement of their existence is an event in Harathi Hinterlands where you help a mother and daughter find the missing husband (or son, can’t recall) – after you find out what has become of him, they wander up the hill and step directly under the floating waypoint and disappear…as if they used the waypoint to travel. This got me to thinking long ago that one should have to travel to a waypoint to have access the network to travel to another waypoint. No more of this ‘waypoint from anywhere to anywhere at any time’ behavior, that players would actually need to interact with a waypoint to utilize them to travel to another unlocked waypoint.

music during the mossman fight?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I tried finding a video online of someone that recorded the fight who also had the game music playing to see if I could catch a touch of the music to determine what song it is. I couldn’t find a single one. Everyone seems to think they have to play music over their videos to make them entertaining.

Can you find or post a video online that has the music playing during the fight so we can hear what it sounds like so which song it is can be determined?

Otherwise, I would recommend going through the GW2 soundtrack (many of which are on youtube) and give the various tracks a brief listen to see if you can find which one it is.

2 Week Banker Golem (timer start discrepancy)

It says 500 gems for me.

Assuming some people are seeing it for free, I can think of 2 possibilities.
1) a bug
2) if you have the deluxe set, which has a banker golem with each new char, maybe you don’t get a free one from the gem store.

(I have the digital deluxe)

I do not have the Deluxe version, just standard retail box edition from walmart on launch day. I do not see it as offering a free banker golem, sadly. I suppose it is more likely to be a bug then.

(I’ve been hesitant to pick up the digital deluxe for over 2 years, though I plan to finally grab it when it is on sale again)

Your screenshot folder is (not) full

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

The only things I can think to try would be these:

Run As Admin

  • Close your game completely.
  • Right-click your GW2 game shortcut and click on “Properties”.
  • On the “Compatibility” tab, check/enable the box for your game to “Run As Administrator”.
  • Hit OK after making sure this setting is enabled.
  • Re-launch your game with this game shortcut and see if the issue persists.

If that doesn’t fix it: Check the game for errors and repair it

  • Close your game completely.
  • Next, make a copy of your Gw2 game shortcut and rename it “GW2 Repair” or to something that you will recognize it for being only for running a repair on your GW2 installation.
  • Now, right-click this “Gw2 Repair” shortcut and click on “Properties”.
  • On the “Shortcut” tab look in the “Target:” field, you should see:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2” or wherever you have Guild Wars 2 installed.
  • After the closing quotation marks in this line put a space and then add -repair
It will look like this but with your GW2 install location:
    “C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2” -repair
  • Hit OK after making this change.
  • Run this repair shortcut. Your game will run through a repair cycle and fix any damaged files it finds.
  • After it runs through, start the game using the normal GW2 game shortcut (not the repair shortcut) and see if your game can take screenshots properly.

Last resort would be to: Delete the local.dat file
Deleting this file will also cause you to lose your saved game settings (graphics, stored login data, etc.) but may fix the problem. If you rely on your stored login info to log in, make sure you can recall what your login info is as the stored login info is also cleared.

The quickest way to do this is to:

  • Ensure your game is completely closed.
  • Hold your Windows Key and press ‘F’ to open your Windows Search.
  • Search for “Local.dat”. 2 files may be found.
  • Ignore the “Local.dat” file that is in the game installation folder if one is found there.
  • Delete the “Local.dat” file that resides at:
    “C:\Users\YourComputerUserName\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2”
  • Load up your game normally and see if the problem is gone.
  • You will notice that your settings are reverted to default. You should reconfigure your game settings once again to your preference.
