The answer is that I think it would. I think I know how the transmuatation process works and also how the splitter works. So IF my analysis is right it should be ok. Having said that I would highly recommend to not try it!! I think I know, but I’m not sure. If you want to dedicate your hard work to science please do so. But make sure you tape it all and publish every step here so all future generations know its ok. If you don’t want to take the risk then dont take it.
I think instead of an individual taking such a risk, ArenaNet should inform us about the transmutation splitter properly, if anything it will just promote it’s marketing and use.

i cannot understand why anet forces us to click this much. if i want to play a clicking game ill go play cookieclicker. back when there was this dragonbash vendor you could buy koi cakes from him. i bought enough zhaitaffy to buy 500 of those koi cakes. but after each buy it asks me for a confirmation. my god thats frustrating. if anet was a little bit more click friendly this topic would have never needed to be started. where’s that “consume stack” button or the “buy X of said item” button???
I’m simply explaining why I’m right.
Alt + Shift + Num Lock to activate num pad double klick with “+” isn’t ok?
A open all option would be great. I’ve already destroyed left click on one mouse.
^ This
Gaming mice aren’t cheap and it sucks to have one with a young body but the left click of an old man after a few months.
If we aren’t allowed to use rapid fire macros, then stop putting everything in stacks of randy bags that we have to button mash over and over. Those LA rescue bags were insane.
A little background:
I am a crafter at heart. I enjoy taking raw materials and refining them. I enjoy working with my hands. I love the process of creating things. I always have. When video games presented the ability to make things that would help your character progress, I jumped on it. Vanguard introduced me to crafting that I would consider a little more complex, and from then on I was hooked on virtual crafting. When I look at a game like that, one of the first things I want to know is how to gather and can I gain an advantage through crafting.
It was a multi-part journey. Each of the 3 parts had it’s own psychological/emotion reward. The feeling of accomplishment. From the gathering of the materials, to refining and assembling them, to receiving the final product, a virtual labor of love. You put time into it, and the result shows the value of that time.
Guild Wars 2
When I started GW2, I was somewhat disheartened at the simplicity of the crafting, and the lack of random chance involved with the results, but the recipe system made sense, and raw materials presented themselves, at the time, at a good pace. Unfortunately, after discovering the ultimate recipe, that being that all 6 tiers of crafting were just repeats of the previous levels using higher value material, it got boring really quick, but as I learned there were other items that could be crafted via the mystic forge, and I also started very quickly to look into the legendary weapons.
The process of crafting a legendary was daunting. I’d never seen such rediculous amounts of material required for a single item, and there were things required that involved aspects of games that I’d never cared to participate in (namely PvP and Dungeons).
Overall though, I saw it as doable. I even, at the time, set aside the issue of how precursors were obtained. Foolishly, at the start, I believed there was a chance at getting one as a drop. That faded quite quickly.
Then I stared playing the game more seriously. From there I started to learn the dark down sides of crafting a legendary. Anet had made it obscenely difficult to get the required materials in what appeared to be purely a move to get people to buy gems>gold to purchase. Calculations and tests were done. By April of 2013, I knew full well how long it would take me to gather the required T6 materials via general PvE play when taking into account my 2 to 3 hours a day play time combined with the limitations of Diminishing Returns and only 3 zones where T6 mats drop. 4 years if I played daily. Just for the T6 materials. Not including the orbs I needed, which drop far less. Coupled with precursors that only drop at about the same rate people win the lottery in real life, I just about gave up on crafting an legendary at all.
By the time this all set in, however, I had gotten my map completion, as well as the gift of battle. Standing in the way was the Gift of fortune, the Precursor, and the Gift of the Unicorn (which I had nearly completed).
I chose to make an attempt to get my T6 materials gathered for the Gift of Fortune. This quickly became a monotonous grind. I had, at this point, a bit of a dark epiphany. Tainted heavily with regret and emptyness. The end game for crafting in GW2 is not about crafting. It’s not about anything legendary. It’s about grinding gold.
Because no matter how much time you care to put in the game, spending 4 years grinding out T6 mats in the same 3 zones, at half hour per day segments, in the long run, your time put into crafting nets you nothing special. Because the guy with mommy’s credit card in your guild bought his legendary off the trading post before you even knew what one was.
That’s the saddest part about legendary weapons. They aren’t worthy of being crafted at all because in the long run, they are not legendary at all. They are just a skin. There is no joy in crafting something that others just buy off the market.
In the end, after half a year of farming, I had enough gold to buy 80% of the T6 mats I needed, along with the orbs for the gift. It nearly made me sick to my stomach to face the fact that the actual crafting path for these things, as designed, was just grinding gold.
Today, I put in an order, and recieved, The Lover. The last piece of the legendary. I received The Dreamer from the mystic forge, and … felt nothing. No sense of accomplishment. No sense that I had crafted something worthwhile. It was just a skin.
Worse, in the back of my mind, I hear the employees of anet whispering “sucker”.
Wow, more excuses.
I seriously doubt Anet has any intention of ever implementing precursor crafting. This is all carrot & stick.
The necessity to finish the obsolete and inferior temple event to get shards for karma is inexplicable and appalling as they are either way available for laurels and belongings without restriction.
As things are now, it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting them ’til LA stuff ends at the very minimum.
This should be fixed asap as a lot of ppl only hoard karma for shards and nothing else, myself included. Yet we should wait weeks for LW to pass to even have a shot at the event. Pathetic.
This makes me angry beyond my limits (censoring myself to avoid unnecessary infractions)
Why should I have to farm gold and then give it to some (beep) who only happens to have gotten lucky with RNG ?
How is getting lucky with RNG translate into legendary ?
Stop placing bandages on it, it needs stitches !
Let me spell it out for you, having precursors attainable via RNG only is NOT acceptable any longer it has been more than 1 year already.
You know what, I’m done with this (censoring myself again) !
Why do I even bother ?
I will enjoy the game for what it is, when I can’t take the (censoring myself again) anymore I’ll just quit and look for greener pasture.

You’ve succeeded in making me angry, ArenaNet. I’ve been attempting to get Six Minutes to Knightfall the entire two weeks that this Living Story entry has been going. I’ve never seen a single map get it. This is likely because I can’t usually get on at prime times, but regardless, a timed achievement like this should not rely on a map’s worth of players.
I repeat, a timed achievement should never rely on the coordination of a full map’s worth of players for completion.
If you continue doing this stupidity you will have players, like me, who will try repeatedly and consistently to achieve it and are cheated out of it through no fault of their own.

If one would do no damage to the knights and just rez the whole fight, would you consider that as “AFK” as well, or indirectly AFK, or indirectly dealing damage through proxy? XD
SPOILER: Jokes in bad taste.

I get that Scarlet was the villain, but I felt horrible listening to Marjory and the others joke about her death.
Previous LS updates established that she’s been driven crazy by some external force that she encountered in the Eternal Alchemy and could no longer mentally fight it. We should pity her or mourn for those she’s killed, not make childish jokes about what it felt like to deliver the death blow.
Not to be rude here, but I’m genuinely curious – do dialogue ideas get checked before they are added? If so, did no one suggest that joking about killing a mentally unstable character might be in poor taste?
Support, Legendary is for legendary feats, WvW players have to suffer pve to get legenday is only fair for pve players to suffer WvW. Rank 100 sounds right.
That is the problem right there, no one should suffer, its just a game >.>
Rumors tell of a merchant interested in items from major events in Tyria’s recent history, including Blade Shards. Players are encouraged to hold on to these items if they are interested in trading with her when she appears.
Please for the love of the gods…let her be a distant relative of Nicholas The Traveler
Maybe her “great great grandfather” met someone along the way and passed his good deeds to her!
We need another Nicholas The Traveler
Refine 50 of them incase they get used for precursor crafting.
And then find out that precursors require raw ore :P

I’m glad they did something at least instead of letting us wait forever for changes.
TL;DR
Make ascended armor salvageable so we can make worthless rewards useful/profitable.
This was a common suggestion/recommendation on the CDI. Let’s hope something along those lines happens.
Any chance that they are retroactive to unopened boxes?
You have the self control to leave boxes unopened!?! Very impressive!
Probably not retroactive though, unfortunately.
When the boxes have crap stats, yes. Honestly there is only one type of box I care for: Zojjas’s. Every other box is crap. I believe my guard has a Valkyrie scepter, which is close enough.
What are you supposed to do with Magi, Settler, Dire, etc. Boxes?
That’s a pretty kittenumption in regards to how the loot table works…
This is the funniest auto-censor I’ve seen yet.

I mean the unidentified dyes (dye packs are fine), scrolls of knowledge (tomes of knowledge are fine), essences of luck, and mystery tonics.. those all need to be removed, along with wintersday gifts (when they’re in season) and alliance bags.
This!
Please don’t delete them!
You can hold on to your extra blade shards, as the team will be adding something later which will allow you to convert the shards to something of value. Dev will be announcing more on that later. Thanks!
The real question is, are the keys worth buying gems for? And since the change to the BL chests loot table, are the keys still worth the time investment to farm them?

Update of the ‘Six Minutes to Knightfall’ achievement: we’ve identified the issue and are currently working on a fix. Thank you for the information on only two people from the successful maps getting the achievement, that was the final clue we needed! I’ll keep this thread updated as we work on the fix.
It feels good to know that our one tiny tidbit of information on the bug helped to solve the problem.
Temporarily stickied for great justice! But seriously, this is great information and helpful to the community.
I like the booster exchange merchant idea. Thats a great idea actually.
Come on Anet, we wait every day patiently hoping for something we really want to go on sale, and you put A CRAFTING BOOSTER? Its the most useless booster if you already have all your crafting done which many people do. I know some people could use it but why just A crafting booster that most people don’t need.
Why not put all boosters on sale at the same time? I have over 400 crafting boosters doing me no good. I’d love to be able to get some Karma boosters. Especially since you removed them from the black lion chests.
Maybe even put in a booster exchange merchant so we can get the boosters we want and at the same time get rid of the boosters that we no longer need/want. Make it have a cost like 2 boosters to get 1 or cost like 10 silver each exchange…something??
I know this post will go unanswered by Anet and will probably be flamed but I cant be the only one that feels like this.
Magnus is worthless because he drops like candy. I think I had like 5 of them and I do not actively farm for the alliance bags, only taking the ones I get while playing normally.
If he would be forgeable he would create the biggest crash to the mini market ever.
