I’ve been playing a condition mesmer since launch.

Today I got full zerker. ANet convinced me that they want us ALL to play exclusively zerker.

Or what?

I don’t understand why the Assault Knights effectively negate condition damage, even more than other world bosses.

In this event, condition damage goes from worthless to actually negative.

Anyone else realize GW1 is the better series?

I’ve stumped and cheered for GW2 forever. All the ideas sounded innovative on paper.

Now maybe I’ve got rose-colored glasses on but I realize GW1 was superior at a lot of things.

1. Why Groups Were Better In GW1

So you had to wait around LF monk in Guild Wars 1. Yep, I was there, I complained about how stupid it was to take 20 minutes to get a monk in GW1. Here’s the reality though, it was an inconvenience, but one that ALLOWED for the group to actually work together once they went into action. I’m not saying group play was hugely dynamic or anything. You did play your static roles and it could be repetitive.

What it was was something real however. When the group succeeded or failed, boy did you feel that.

In GW2 there’s no connection to anything. Even when they try to get us to coordinate for world events, it doesn’t feel much different that herding sheep to a spot. Nobody knows what’s going on in terms of success of failure. It all seems to be happening outside of us, in a dream, while way too many particle effects contribute to the haze of “what exactly is any of this?”

I miss groups that are playing “the mission” or UW or DoA. Back then we weren’t people trying to follow a Dulfy guide, but figured it out together. (Or sometimes failed pretty badly.) It used to be in Guild Wars that any intrepid group of adventurers with a decent use of our skills could make it through all sorts of devious opponents. And, though ranging from mild challenges to extreme ones, it was usually pretty engaging gameplay.

2. Expansions Are Awesome

I’m getting pretty jaded by the GW2 pay model. They’re making lots of money off the store, but the content we are getting is actually very very basic in the gameplay department. I honestly can’t pimp this stuff to people who don’t play. “Ok guys so with this new Lion’s Arch content what you do is basically just run around spamming your bar.” They’ll wonder if I’m crazy and why I play.

We need a revolution for this revolutionary game. We need an expansion that makes grouping real again, and brings a new continent’s worth full of amazing adventures.

March 4 patch? 18?

March 4 is a Living Story episode, concluding the first season with an effort to re-take Lion’s Arch.

March 18 has been described as a “maintenance patch” and will likely be centered on small bug fixes.

The Features Patch (probably includeing the Rune and Sigil revamp along with many class balance changes) has not yet been announced, other than to say its NOT hitting on March 18.

You are going to see some impressive spikes during this next month with daily sales. Since we don’t know what is going on sale when, when something desirable hits so many people will rush to convert their gold to gems that it’s quite possible to see the exchange rate be over 10g per 100 gems.

Remember the more gems bought with gold the faster the exchange rate will climb.

When the fractal update launched you resetted my levels on 4 characters saying it was for the leaderboards? Well where are they now? You took away all my progression for absolutely no reason at all. I stopped playing fractals because of this.

Soon you are taking away my glory boosters I got from black lion chests (which were mostly bought with real money at that time) + doing my dailies & monthlies for a year. We asked for compensation but got told off, why would I keep playing sPvP now since you deleted my invested time once again? Let me answer the obvious before someone asks, I was saving them incase we ever get a new gamemode that I do enjoy, for example capture the flag.

What’s next? You take away my legendaries because you want a new leaderboard for it? Yes I know how ridiculous this sounds but the deleting of progression is something I’ve never encountered before in any MMO for a good reason. It’s pretty much taking a dump on my invested time into your product.

This isn’t a matter of a few hours, this is a matter of hundreds of hours that I’ve invested and you are taking it away like it’s nothing at all, every single time again.

Evon Gnashblade now sells a recipe for 5g to make a Maintenance Oil Station.

I bought it out of curiosity, and WOW the ingredient cost for this are way higher than expected.

30 crystalline dust = 6g
5 elonian leather squares = 16g

It says the station is consumable, which I presume means it will disappear once you use it.

I think I would rather buy everyone around me master maintenance oils (they cost 12s a piece)

What a nice waste of 5g that was. I VOTED FOR YOU EVON WHY YOU GOTTA BE LIKE THAT

This isn’t another complaint thread its a thread for getting a understanding of what is happening!

Is this latest update a double standard or are the other skins that were unobtainable going to make a comeback as well; aka year 1 Halloween weps and such seems unfair to undercut and devalue just some items like jetpack that was selling near 700? Now listed around 400-500, but not bring back the ghastly grinning shield selling at 3500 as that may seem or come across as a double standard to only bring back some 1 time only items.

You stated that rare 1 time event items will not be back, items like ghastly grinning shield from Halloween year 1, molten jetpack from molten facility, ect. This latest update seemed to bring back the molten jetpack and other 1 time only items thus decreasing their value on tp another thing that was told would not happen .

However I will remain objective as there are two sides to this.

1) those that got lucky drop during event or bought it off tp; for whatever high price item was at, either got undercut trying to sell a once rare item or felt cheated paying a huge price for items that were thought to be unobtainable any other way.

2) those that did not get lucky drop first time round and could never afford the price on the tp can have another chance at the 1 time only item

so the objective side feels great that those that missed the opportunity to get this have another chance, however cant help but feel bad for those that had to pay that high price under the information that it was not coming back or those that were selling theirs.

Which brings me to my final question.

1) are other one time only skins making a return so all have a fair chance at all one time only items, or is this going to remain a double standard that will likely frustrate and maybe anger the player base as only some 1 time only items will ever make a return?

everyone has their opinions some feel that one time only skins should never come back staying rare. others feel that 1 time only skins should make a return as some tried their best but were just unlucky and did not receive one. I do not care either way my only concern is that only some 1 time only items are retuning making it a double standard.

ps again no rage posts and no debating if 1 time only items should or should not return; this is only about some 1 time only items returning and some not.

keep it constructive!

It’s too easy to grief, grab a friend and you can easily kill every open instance, hell you can do it solo with the merge bug.
It’s like putting a big red button in front of every player in the game, and thanks to party chat wiping/the lack of any party history, griefers can push that big red button anonymously.
Is it ArenaNet’s fault that a large group of the player base gets rock hard by destroying other people’s instances? No. But nevertheless the responsibility falls on them to fix it, to remove that big red button so to speak.

+1 good idea, it’s a bandage fix to a much greater problem but my word is it a push in the right direction.

I don’t understand the logic behind enabling this to happen.

It’s established that Arenanet either aren’t able to or are too stubborn to come up with a way to have instance ownership passed on to another person in the party if the host leaves, so why enable the host to get kicked…? Obviously if that happens then the instance is gone, so in what circumstance would it ever be a viable option to let party members do this besides griefing? I can’t think of any.

It’s illogical to let this happen.

Here is an example of it happening to me but get this…

http://www.twitch.tv/purpleishawt/c/3744743

I was kicked BEFORE I paid for help at tar in Arah P1. I didn’t even say anything besides “hi” to the person when he joined. All I was doing was killing time by clearing some of the trash to make it easier for the people joining to get to me… and I get this “pay or kick” nonsense.

I stream myself soloing this path nearly every night without exploiting a single thing. I don’t safespot ooze, I don’t maphack or jump over walls that weren’t intended to be jumped on, I kill Lupicus, I even kill Korga and let the buyers waypoint to come for the last boss to let them get bonus loot. I, like many others, still get griefed. I refuse to post on the LFG after I pay for tar help without placeholders because of this rotten system.

I don’t expect much, but I think the more people that speak up about this the higher the chance that MAYBE someday something will get done about this.

It’s not about making it more viable to sell paths, it’s about addressing a pathetic design flaw in this system that shouldn’t have even been released in the first place without preventative measures to ensure things like this never are to happen.

Gathering tools are already account bound. If what you are asking for is that each of your characters should get one in the mail then you are asking to receive more than one for the price of one. If you need to swap it to another toon just put it in the bank and pick it up on your other toon. Mailing all your toons the same account bound item each doesn’t make sense.

You’re kinda missing the point. I already swap the tools to my bank when I need them on another character. But, for the price of these items, a convenience factor isn’t asking too much. I’m sorry that you don’t think it makes sense. We receive a new bank golem on each new character we create (if you’ve upgraded your game edition), so the ability to do a similar thing with gathering tools already exists. I do like the idea of an account-wide bag that can hold such items though.

I agree, I think an Account wide bag is a good idea. I also think maybe having the ability to mail stuff to yourself would fix the issue you are talking about for good. But not getting copies of that same item, because technically you only bought one, not 3 or 4 or 5.

The issue I find is found from gem store purchases. It seems to me, and a few others I’ve spoken to, that items such as the everlasting mining pick, harvesting sickle, and logging axes should be an account wide purchase. Armor is purchased for a specific character that wears a specific armor type, so it makes sense that they remain individual items. Picks, Axes and Sickles however should not fall under the same category and should arrive in each characters mail upon login to that character, much like the rewards for starting a new character already work.

I’m not writing this to create a debate on acceptable business practices and whatnot, I simply think for the gem cost associated with buying these types of items, they should be reworked to become account wide. I would like to hear other people’s opinion on the issue. But, please keep it troll free.

Nice, but nowhere in your post did you say anything useful on how you leveled so fast.

He probably levelled by “farming” something. There were many bugged things that was imbalanced and gave too much reward, and people (as usual) found and used them. For example there was an event that restarted almost immediately after being finished (I’m not sure which one was it as I haven’t been there). I was one of the highest level in my guild at that time, but I had to take a 1-day break and when I came back some of my guildies were already ~30 levels higher than me, and that event they farmed was already patched.

But back at release it was generally easier to level than now (unless you craft, but new players don’t have money for that). I doubt I ever seen any event that didn’t have at least 5 players on it. I remember I just ran from events to events, tried to get enough for gold and then moved to the next one hoping I can reach it before finished and to get credit.
Now DEs have run out of their purpose… No ones doing it, the world feels like a giant graveyard with the amount of dead npcs caused by unfinished events. And right now people don’t care about saving a village, because it will be invaded again 5 mins later, back at release at least there were always people doing them so it wasn’t a big problem. I think anet should really make DEs easier for new solo players or add more rewards to them to compensate the lack of players doing them, and should increase the restart time of each event.

ps: oops sorry i went way offtopic

God Armor for Gemstore

Ok so we’ve had the release of the Grenth’s Hood Skin for 500 gems, but personally I thought the release would have been better with a full set of Grenth’s armor. The hood itself looks like the model from the “Avatar of Grenth” form back on Guild Wars 1, and I don’t know about anybody else, but I thought the armor skins for the Avatar models were epic, and it would be nice to see full sets up for purchase.

These sets can also be made class specific when you think about it, or they can be for overall armor types. But here’s my suggestions. Balthazar armor for heavy armor types, Lyssa & Grenth for light armor, Melandru for medium and Dwayna could be for both Light & heavy because her armor is a form of mixture between plate and cloth, even though she’s practically a spell-caster.

I’ve attached an image of all the god models for you to see, please post your comments if you agree with me on this or disagree

The ability to resell items is a massive goldsink, and with the current state of gold, we need more goldsinks, not less. John Smith, a few hours ago, said that it would take 53 thousand ecto (approximately one third of the current total supply) “a few hours” to clear in the current market. Presumably a large portion of that is people buying Ecto speculating the price to rise further. The listing fees for 53 thousand ecto at the current price is ~3100 gold. On one item. Over a few hours. If we removed the ability to trade already traded items, it would be a MASSIVE loss of goldsink.

Additionally, “remain unaffected” is a bit misleading. I would be very very surprised to hear that the majority of players have not accidentally bought too many of ________ item and sold them back to the trading post to recover most of their money.

Additionally, this would be a massive use of resources to have an additional flag for every single trade-able item in the game, and it would be very finicky with items that stack, which is the majority of items that are “manipulated”.

Additionally, playing the market is not a bad thing, it is capitalizing on the fact that people are willing to pay more for an item than it is currently listed for. What people tend to forget is that if the price of items goes up, the price of items that you get as drops is higher too.

Escape From Lions Arch Feedback

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

I thought I would make a post about my thoughts – both positive and negative, about the recent Living Story, and invite others to share their thoughts and feedback about it too.

To be honest, I haven’t been this excited about a Living Story since Zephyr Sanctum: Bazaar of the Four Winds. Despite us never actually having a choice whether Lions Arch would get saved or not (which I did find rather odd – but that in and of itself is worthy of another thread), I found the reality of the destruction quite surreal upon entering the new LA. There were actually tormented screams amidst the fighting, which made the whole scenario feel real.

Another thing I liked was the new backpieces. When I first saw the image codes on Reddit with the different colored ascended spinal backpieces (I assume will be available in the next patch). Not only did they look freakin’ amazing, but I liked the fact that you had to upgrade them to include more blades, at the same time, upgrading their stats and appearance. I also like the fact that they remained account bound, even after selecting the stats. That’s awesome.

One could argue the fights in Escape from Lions Arch were a let down, considering many choose to go the guardian route and just spam the #1 staff skill while attacking mobs, however for me personally, I find it quite nice because there are rarely Living Story patches that have mobs that give decent loot, so to be able to go around and grab a fair bit of loot has been refreshing to say the least, and I do think that this sort of zerg vs. mob stuff is required once in a while.

So let’s talk about the loot. I think for the most part it’s been pretty well done. I like the fact that you can turn in 100 found belongings and 30 silver for a tome of knowledge. There is nothing more tedious than levelling a low level character (unless you’re rich and can level them up fast with crafting). I have been able to finally level my asuran guardian from level 31 to 65 with this living story, and I hope to have him at level 80 before the next patch so he can wear the dynamic tempered spinal blade backpiece!

However I do feel there could be room for improvement in the rewards department – at least for this particular Living Story. For example, I think there should have been more options to use the found heirlooms. I mean, 20 heirlooms AND 4 silver for only 5 bags of alliance supplies that one could have easily obtained with simply a few kills in Escape from Lions Arch? It seems quite unreasonable. Also, right now, people have an abundance of spinal blades. I myself have managed to craft 1 ascended backpiece and 3 exotic backpieces, and I still have over 3,000 spinal blades taking up room in my bank.

I think to make the blade shards tradable would defeat the purpose though, because I do feel that people should go out and work towards them, however I think it would be nice if there was a permanent node reward where you could mine them daily, long after the Living Story has ended… or perhaps allow us to trade in any extras for similar rewards to the found belongings. Things like obsidian shards and Tomes of knowledge (perhaps requiring 250 blade shards, or even 500).

TL;DR

All in all, I feel that the reality and the destruction of LA was really well done with the tormented screams and NPC’s re-telling their losses. However, I believe there could have been room for improvement. For example, giving us the option to fight for LA rather than telling us it’s going to be destroyed and that you have no say in the matter, sort of thing.

The abundance of blade shards could have been given a use, and the found heirlooms rewards should have had another look into, considering 20 of them along with 4 silver only gave you 5 bags of alliance supplies – something that could be obtained in just a few kills in the Escape from Lions Arch instance. The backpieces are truly amazing though, 10/10 on those, and I look forward to the next Living Story. Great job!

Forever a supporter of more male skimpy armor
