Example of Market crash in GW2

in Black Lion Trading Co

Smooth Penguin.5294

Well, most times people here only talk about making money, or complain about people making too much money. Today, I’d like to “flip” that around (pun intended). I think it’s about time to show examples of how the price of certain goods can crash in the blink of an eye.

Everyone here probably already knows about the Ultimate Citizen’s Rescue Bag. There are a couple of things that happened that shocked the market of rare items. 1) Anet lowered the rescue requirement from 1500 to 1200, making it far easier to get. 2) So many people are getting the high-end loot bags, that really rare, discontinued items are dropping more frequently.

How does this affect the market? I’ll use my own personal example. I’ve lost hundreds of Gold from holding onto the Monocle headpieces. Something that was uber rare, and not dropping anymore, tanked from 600+ Gold per, to less than 150 Gold within the span of a few hours while I was asleep. Same thing happened with the Jetpack skin.

So if you think we market players are living large and are untouchable, think again. The bigger risks you take, the more you have to lose. If there were a Tyrian welfare line, I’d be standing in it right now…

In GW2, Trading Post plays you!

CDI- Fractal Evolution

Proposal Overview
Reduce the length of the Underground Facility fractal. (sry for the wall of text but I couldn’t make it any shorter without leaving something out)

Goal of Proposal
The goal is to make the Tier 3 fractals more equal in length and reduce the frustration players experience while in the Underground Facility. As it stands, just the clown car part of the dredge fractal takes as long as completing either the Volcanic, Aetherblade or Thaumanova fractals. Getting dredge as the 3rd fractal makes the whole run take 20 minutes longer than it would take with any other 3rd fractal.

Proposal Functionality
I take ‘proposal functionality’ as ’how to implement the proposal, so here goes:

1) The pressure plates – we know how the puzzle is intended to be done, but due to the endlessly respawning dredge and not being able to dodge while standing on a pressure plate the final room is unnecessarily sensitive to errors (more than would be reasonable). Suggestion: make the pressure plates in the last room significantly larger so that you could dodge on them without making the console reset.

2a)The cannon room is designed in a way that includes you fighting through the dredge, stealing the cannons and blasting the door while fending off the defending dredge. In reality it doesn’t work like that. Stealth is mandatory because the amount of the endlessly respawning dredge is absurd and cannot possibly be contained without a wipe even by an experienced party without stealthing. However unlike in the bomb room, if you decide not to use stealth you can still make progress little by little by firing the cannons even through several wipes. Suggestion: reduce the amount of endlessly respawning dredge significantly here.

2b) The bomb room is designed to be completed in a way that includes you fighting through the dredge while dropping bombs and defending the bombs while the fuse of the bombs go off. In reality it doesn’t work as intended – stealth is mandatory and becomes more and more crucial the higher the level goes because the amount of endlessly respawning dredge is just absurd and cannot possibly be controlled or contained while waiting for the bombs to go off, let alone even getting to drop the bombs without stealth. Unlike in the cannon room here it is impossible to make progress in case of a wipe because the dredge will pick up the bombs immediately if you can’t defend them. Suggestion: close the bomb room permanently; or significantly reduce the amount of dredge and shorten the bomb fuse.

3) The Clown Car. This encounter is arguably the most complained about in the whole game. It seems to serve as a mere time gate, is not innovative, not fun and on top of this is bug-ridden. There is no fun and no point in spending 10 minutes at lvl49 fractal just to kill dredge after killing the trivial boss in the room. Apologies for sounding bleak but this encounter is the main reason why this fractal is by far the least liked. Suggestion: remove the encounter.

Associated Risks
I see no risk in making the changes above. I firmly believe that implementing the changes I suggested above the dredge fractal can be made more fun, less tedious and length-wise be put in line with the other tier 3 fractals.

There shouldn’t be any loot for standing around. The real problem here isn’t that people are afk, the problem is that they are rewarded for it. It’s actually encouraging that kind of behaviour.

There’s also little sense in talking reason to those people, because if they had that in them they’d wait for 100 people rescued and then join a new overflow. That way you’ they’d get at least twice the amount of bags they currently do for standing around.

Players have adapted to the game as the pale shadow that was once Arenanet have re-envisioned it. The players are still to be blamed, of course, but with so many of the game’s core design principles having been ditched under the current leadership, it’s no surprise that game design meant to ensure players work together, rather than in competition with each other, has gone by the wayside as well.

For a game once designed without the carrot, it’s sad decline into the worst kind of skinner box, with many remaining players being little more than conditioned response machines, is just depressing.

At this point, the only source of amusement is guessing which other ways Anet will come up with to desecrate what was once one of the best MMOs ever produced.

Citizens should give heirlooms

Tremain.4623

Whenever you make a huge event that requires lots of teamwork to complete successfully you really should not add things that actively discourage players from helping. Right now we have lots of players contributing nothing towards saving lions arch by running around digging through piles of rubble for heirlooms, this is silly and boring and grindy. Instead make rescuing citizens give the heirlooms, this way players grinding for their halos are actively helping the event rather than taking up a spot. Not only that but it individually rewards players for doing something besides zerging events for loot.

Not sure if this has been discussed already, but would it be possible to create a Blade Shard Collector that has the same items as the Lionguard Belongings Collector?

You can have it be a weaponsmith or lionguard that is forging the blade shards to create weapons for the assault on Scarlet.

I think it would be a good alternative for people who don’t want the back items or people who already crafted them instead of just throwing the items away.

Re-traiting

I play each class and enjoy doing so because of it’s diversity. My main being a Warrior, i run Greatsword mainly, but recently i found that i like playing hammer from time to time. That got me thinking; Why can’t we swap traits quickly, just like weapons/armor/jewelry.

Whenever i wish to switch from a Greatsword to a Hammer, the traits are completely different, and you have to refund trait point to get Hammer to work more effectively.
But then an hour alter, my guild does a dungeon run, where Hammers are not really good on a warrior, and so i have to switch back up again. This consumes silver, but it’s mainly the time and effort it takes to switch that makes it feel very restricted.

I understand this could be OP, as people in WvW would first be bashed with a hammer and suddenly be spiked by a Greatsword, with full effectiveness. But maybe a 10 minute swap on Re-traiting would solve that?

Right now, the only option is to make a second warrior, but then where does it end?
30-40 characters?

Discuss.

Yes they appear to be single use and are NEVER under any circumstances worth the price.

You would need 180+ people to use the station to justify the cost of making one over distributing the regular version to everyone. Since most maps cap at 150 people it will never be worth it.

You would get suppressed long before you are done mailing all those items!

Found Heirlooms - Is there enough time?

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: fictitiousacct.1782

fictitiousacct.1782

So after some thinking, I was wondering how much time do we have to get both Selfless Potions and Thoughtless Potions. Both require 250 Found Heirlooms, which seem to be found through both rubble piles (once per account) and for each successful tier of citizens rescued (Tiers are set at 100, 300, 600, 1000, and 1500 citizens rescued*).

However, I am worried that I won’t have as much time to actually get 250 of these heirlooms, as most overflows I get into save usually enough for me to get 2 heirlooms. Supposing the content and merchant are up only for 2 weeks, if I get ~40 from rubble and need 460 more for both potions, I’d need to enter 230 times into the LA instance on average. Even if I went for only 1 potion, I’d need to enter 105 times into the instance to get it. If the content was up for 2 weeks, that would mean I’d enter the instance 8 times a day for one potion or 17 times a day for both potions. Obviously, the total amount of hours spent on this game shouldn’t average 8 hours a day, let alone 17 hours a day.

Anet, if this content is for only 2 weeks, please adjust the prices of your event items. All of these are account bound things, and I’d hate to think you really expect us to grind our hearts out to get items like this. I really would like the halo and devil horns to be both obtainable on my character, but the amount of time needed to get this for an average player really sucks.

P.S. This assumes rubble does not reset once a day per account. Should that be possible, then it is much more possible to get them.

*This was taken directly from the release notes, but I do believe the tiers are incorrect. I’ve gotten rewards at 100 and 500 so far.

Weekdays I make about 50 G in 5 hours.

Depending on how long I play on weekends, I make 200G.

So every week I hardcore farm 450 gold.

I’m not normally greedy, but I do not share my farm spots since Anet loves to nerf whatever I do, and more people doing what I do doesn’t exactly help me make gold.

And thank you for all the congratulatory messages…

On Tuesday, right before the patch hits, I’ll craft two legendaries to commemorate the thrill we all had when we were tossing our hard earned gifts and precursors into the forge. It was always fun to see people’s reactions, some mocking, some congratulating the new owners of their shiny legendaries.

I am right now very busy completing map completion for the 4th (sad face) time and should be just in time for Tuesday…

Try to guess what these two legendaries are and the 1st one to guess correctly will have a sweet and generous surprise gift from me

P.S. My guildies and close friends are sadly excluded from this competition ;-)

P.S 2. I have all classes at 80 ;-)

P.S. 3. ALL MATS COMPLETE like 1 hour prior to patch! Now just relaxing by the forge and waiting for patch to arrive

P.S. 4 Rewards etc. I will announce a bit later.. Since there was an unexpected amount of interest, I’d love to reward everyone in a small way if I can

Why I've changed my mind on Ascended

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Neural.1824

Neural.1824

Some know that I was one of the biggest fans of the ascended crafting system. In fact, while I’m “neither hot nor cold” on time gating, I think the implementation of the whole set up was great. Yes, some people have issues with a zillion bloodstone dust piles, and I understand how that’s an issue, but let me explain what made me sell all the Damask that I have, along with squares and ingots.

It boils down to one thing, and this one thing, I believe, may be a huge deterrent for a lot of others as well.

The issue I have isn’t the crafting methods, it’s the results.

You spend a ton of time and materials to make ascended gear, but you are stuck with the stats. If you choose wrongly, or, more likely, if Anet decides they are going to nuke a stat and rebuild it to be less effective, etc., you are screwed.

The upcoming changes to critical damage are what really brought this problem to the front of my mind. I don’t want to spend a ton of time gathering materials and crafting, etc. just to create a pow/prec/tough set, only to have Anet decide later on that Precision is part of the dps problem and cripple it with some stupid modification. (hypothetically).

With that in mind I’ve simply stopped all progress on ascended material. If I gather enough stuff along the way to create an ingot, bolt, or something along those lines, I’ll make it and sell it on the TP.

I’m hoping that if they take Jeweler to 500, it will be interesting. As such I’m saving my metals and gems along with other items, but for ascended armor, forget it.

Where are my gem sales? I want gem sales! Nerf EVERYTHING!

Keeping guild names from ever changing gives people incentive to act more mature.

Thanks for the compliments (and for advertising my channel g)!

I’m currently rewriting some of my flute tabs for the harp (like the Wind Waker Start Screen/Earth Temple Theme). They work with the flute tabs too, but I’m trying to add some grace notes/chords to some parts, so they sound a bit better on the harp. In case of the Earth Temple Theme it looks like this (notes in brackets are grace notes/chords with separately played notes):

5 (13)5 -0- 13 21 -9- 7 (46)8 64 8686 (45)7 54 8 (4)6 7 (35)8 -0- 23
12 -9- (13)5 5 (13)5 -0- 13 21 -9- 7 (46)8 64 8686 (25)7 8 (57) -0- 2 342 -9- 78 (35)8

I haven’t recorded it yet, but I definitely will in the afternoon (CET)… I’ll also adapt my notation to something more readable (like what you are using in this thread). I realize mine is “a bit” difficult to read for anyone but me
