Our guild has some very good rangers. One of them saved our butts epically in one of our first TA story runs, back when we were at level for it and there were wp rezzes in combat. She expertly kited and dps’d the guy with all the little spider things while we ran back, and he was mostly dead when we got there.

I will run with any mix of professions. I only want people to be grownups who are having fun, performance is the least important part. Though after you tell someone twenty times not to pick up the wisp in the swamp fractal until everyone’s ready, and she keeps doing it, that run does eventually get called. No kicks, however (she was a wife of a friend but I won’t kick someone for anything other than a long unexplained fta or foul mouthed hate and anger issues).

Umm, about that TA, it should be either up path third boss or f/u final boss. For up path third boss, the fact that she was kiting lil spiders prove that she didn’t know that path. For f/u path final boss, OMG, that ranger must be a god! Well it’s easy for her if you guys already cleared spiders in front of that tree.

Or, y’know, he could be talking about TA STORY, like he said, which would make the boss Brangoire, and the little spiders the Living Nightmares which look like see-through spiders.

It’s a simple quest. Gather 5 people in your server and you could finish it. I’m pretty sure you’re not the only one wanting to run CoF.

I’m assuming you mean after you clear all the maps, run the minidungeons and jumping puzzles, explore all the nifty looking areas you won’t see on the map, talk to all the npcs, etc?

Well if you don’t RP and you don’t have fun exploring more or making alts, and you don’t craft and you don’t farm (I don’t do either of those), I guess you try something else for a few weeks and then come back for the next living story chapter.

And if you’re looking for a specific timeframe for it to be released, you’re out of luck. John Smith already told us there won’t be one due to the fact it’ll “shock” the market. The fact it’s in the works is enough for me to be honest. I’d rather they do it right than rush something that blows up in everyone’s faces because they gave a timeframe.

Before I figured out how to damage him, my drake had taken out 25% of his health through conditions and was the only reason I was able to res myself over and over. It kept the damage off me so that I had time to figure out which mines I wanted to disarm or so that I could get some distance when my health was low. I was actually thinking that ranger made that fight easier than it should have been.

so previously on lost:

Exotic berserker amulet listed as:
90 power
64 precision
5% crit

+25 power
+3%crit
15 precision

Ascended used to be listed in same way. ie. as if you had slotted the piece with a berserk jewel. ie. 2 sets of stats

Now ascended is listed like this:
115 Power
79Precision
8% Crit
Unused offensive / defensive nfusion

There si obviously no change to stats overall, but how about a heads up in the patch notes that you’re gonna change it?

Are you are miffed that Anet did the math???

The prices of these Exotics might not be as “ridiculously high” as once they were, but this is owing to the influx of other players guesting from other worlds flooding the markets of the worlds in the which they “guest” and obtain these items.

Just want to point out that the Trading Post is a GLOBAL market. Items found on one server can be sold to any player on any server once it is put on the Trading Post. Individual servers do not have their own separate markets.

Loot Scaling is also in effect. A lower level is not going to be able to get that level 80 Exotic. In addition to that any exotic dropping is a rare event. Unless you participate in a world event that drops a world chest.

A lot of MMO’s are barren at the lower level areas. If you want hard difficult content you will be rewarded for the play of hard difficult content in the higher level areas. However rewards may vary.

Lower level areas you get rewarded for helping out the lower new players and keep decent rewards.

I would agree however there are some areas that could use a better loot. More variety in the story dungeons would be a good example.

Because builds don’t equal skill. And in PVe, even if my build isn’t a “standard” build, it works quite well for me.

Funny anecdote. Yesterday I’m doing a leisurely Ori Orr run in Malchor’s Leap, and happen by someone about to die to that Inquest Golum champion. I help them up onto their feet multiple times, and basically solo the champion by myself (accounting for all the time that other person was laying on the ground, and myself needing to help them up). After defeating the champion, I take a bow, and run off for more ori.

A minute or so later that person is trying to get my attention on /map asking me for what build/gear I was using, as they were apparently shocked at the performance. I briefly explain the build, ping my celestial stat Ascended slots, and suddenly /map breaks out into a bunch of people expressing their kitten over how celestial stats are so bad, and how no one should ever use them, and that you will never be a valued party member with any celestial gear, blah blah blah.

I like not having any sort of inspect. That way unless you yourself say what gear stats you are using, then the only thing people have to judge your build is by seeing you in action. Personally idgaf what some guy’s internet guide says is the best build, or which build are terrible, nor do I care about the opinions of people who blindly follow some random build guide.

Also, I find it fine assessing what build someone is using simply by seeing them in action for a it. Additionally its a bit more social to actually discuss builds, rather than simply inspect and judge in silence. The other week myself and another Guardian had a somewhat lengthy discussion about Guardian builds while going through one dungeon… its more social, and much more informative than a simple inspect option.

tl;dr: The lack of an inspect function is better for the game.

Brilliant. Because gear is the only thing used measure of a person’s play skill. Bravo.

Assuming that the players are equally skilled (or equally unskilled), then it is gear that matters. Besides, isn’t building an effective gear a part of being a skilled player?

Ok let’s break it down.

1. You assume that you and other person is of equal skill.
2. You relate effective gear to a skilled player.
Ergo
3. By assumption 1, we can assume as well that said player has effective gear.

Therefore, if you assume someone is equally skilled as you, then you must also assume that they have effective gear.

Actually, had another thought of something that could possibly work – go ahead and close the door, but put a button on the other side that will open it. As long as one guild member gets through, they could let stragglers in as they get there. This would stop any random people from just running through and getting the puzzle done, and it would still require coordination of the guild, but it would be less punishing than the current setup.

Also, Herr, we’ve completed the Diessa Plains one with 7 people. There were a couple sections that were a little tough with so few, but it was a lot of fun and we managed to complete it. Alternatively, ask around for other people who would like to do it and let them join your guild for the length of the mission. There are tons of people in small guilds that would love to do a puzzle, I’m sure, but don’t have their puzzles unlocked.

Based on this thread there is no reason for us to even try to unlock this level of guild mission. We’re a small guild and we’re not a bunch of puzzle experts. So, thank you yet again Anet for content that that a small guild cannot possibly do.

I guess we don’t count.

You need 6 people to successfully complete either one of the puzzles.

1 more than a party for a dungeon.

Having a defeatist attitude before even trying content gets you no where and makes your entire argument invalid.

Don’t demand stuff. It makes you look petulant and weakens your argument. People will take you less seriously.

I’m not saying you don’t have a legit grievance, I haven’t tried a guild puzzle yet, but suggesting will get you a lot more traction than demanding.

Personally I would rather do one thing that is really hard and takes a lot of effort.

But the person next to me would rather do a hundred little things that don’t require much effort, so it’s best to make both so neither of us feel neglected.

You spent 30-40 minutes doing something that was “very fun and enjoyable”, and you’re upset because you weren’t properly rewarded?

I remember a day when “very fun and enjoyable” games were enough reason enough to play, but evidently having fun and enjoying oneself isn’t the reason people play video games these days. Sad. So sad.

Why Precursor Hunt wont help with prices

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Why do you want one of those god awful looking legendaries anyway? The only decent ones are the greatwords and the axe. Just wait till they revamp them to look like they are actually legendary and adjust the mat requirements. As it is right now, I stand to make a fortune off people who want a hideous item from T6 mats, look at it as an opportunity to prepare for the future.

Suffice to say that I don’t like the greatswords – not because of the design per se but they are too broad (which is necessary for the effect). A lot of them are very clever and nice, they just don’t always suit my characters.

On topic – I don’t think the precursor hunt is supposed to help with prices, but give people a more reliable and hopefully “fun” way to obtain one piece of the puzzle.

To me it seems that the economical concerns are absolutely dominating the concerns about fun.

“Whose Kitten is this?” – “It’s a Charr baby.”
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

Dueling in?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: maddoctor.2738

maddoctor.2738

What exactly is complicated about putting in a feature that allows two players to fight against each other?
Right click them, select duel, they are given an option to accept or decline, they accept, fight happens and fight ends.
Lord of the rings online has a dueling system. Lotro, which is a very…unique…game has this.

And also add a “toggle” of “accept duel requests” as well… have if OFF by default and anyone who wants to get spammed with duel requests (or give requests) needs to turn it ON and start dueling. That way those who don’t care about duels won’t be affected in any way. Also, auto block for any PMs containing “duel”, “dueling” and such, when the toggle is on “OFF”, to prevent kids from spamming PMs, while I don’t want in anyway to duel them.
It’s not as simple afterall…
