Many of us wouldn’t play WoW for free. I might not even play WoW if they paid me.

If you are a WvW veteran player then you know exactly why there are servers caps. Taking technology aside, what will stop people from flocking to the top 1 and 2 servers? It is known the tendency to do it, is happening since early days.

If anything, top servers should be locked down for undetermined period to encourage players to spread out more. Personally, I hope those servers keep their ‘full’ status even with the end of the tourney.

Why, instead of asking Anet to allow people to stack even more in the tier 1 servers and ask to lower tier servers to be scraped down, don’t you, your friend and guild, do the opposite and transfer to a lower tier server and help them out while being together?

It is the stacking mindset that made WvW imbalanced the way it is right now.

EDIT: Merge servers is a bad idea. I can’t fathom how people even dare to propose that. I hope all that do that, are aware that low tier servers can as well field 50-80 players during NA prime time right? So you are basically saying to merge 3 servers which can field at least 50 to another server which possibly can field even more during the same period of the day! Merge will fix nothing, only cluster and make a huge queue during NA prime time.

Additionally, for the entire weekend of the event we’ll be enabling the “Call of the Mists” bonus in PvP maps. This bonus grants all players +10% increased PvP rank point gain, +15% reward track progress, and an additional +100% magic find while in Heart of the Mists (and yes, this works on all reward track boxes). This is the perfect time to jump into PvP for the first time and maybe grab some cool rewards while you’re at it!

I’d also like to add that even though WvW may have problems (I’ll still a noob so I can’t identify many) I’ve had a blast these past for weeks. I only really started to WvW this tourney and solely for the tickets; however, I ended up staying for the awesomeness. Watching groups portal in via hidden mesmer, being in epic siege battles, flanking zergs, pulling all nighters to flip things, hunting for possible thief in keep and just learning this completely different mode of GW2 was mind-blowing :P So now an avid dungeon runner is totally addicted to WvW. So I’d say the tourney has its advantages; and indeed thanks to random kind people explaining the lingo and strategies of WvW has I went along on my merry way lol.

P.s sorry for hijacking your thread a little <3

Thanks

I want to say “thanks”, “danke”, “gracias” to all the players who have invested and have played in this tournament.

Guild Wars 2 is not perfect (scoring, population imbalance) , but the players make it interesting and fun to play.

Personal thanks to players of Baruch Bay, Far Shiverpeaks, Riverside (Flussufer), Kodash, and Elona Reach (Elonafels), to NUDE (FS), dF (FS), TA (Elonafels), ODS (the stealthy guild of hell on Baruch Bay), RED (BB), BORN (BB), MERC (BB).

Respect to Desolation, enduring heavy focus and continuing to fight.

And special thanks to La Estirpe Olvidada [LEO] (BB) and Elona Night Watch [ENW] (Elonafels), for their hard work and all the fights. Respect to their investment and dedication.

This is because all play the game is if it’s fun, in victory or defeat. There were times of frustration, often fun, rage too. But behind each character, there is a player. That’s an MMORPG. And thanks to the opponents that you can play.

P.S.: The ranking is not important, it is the intensity of the games that was the real reward of this tournament.

throwing mobs from cliffs

Draknar.5748

Because the game has a bad AI that cannot compensate for it. That’s why all the other mob hacks such as Unshakeable, leash regen, etc. exist as well.

Leash regen is in place so people can’t glitch/exploit the mobs for free kills. Lots of games have leashing and regen typically follows with it.

I’ve never heard anyone refer to them as ‘mob hacks’, though. Underlying hatred for the mechanics, I detect.

I don’t really know what Mr. Sharp did at Anet. I heard his name a lot though. I know you worked with PvP however.

I just want to say thank you, and congrats on making one THE best PvP game out there (in terms of other MMORPGS). Other games don’t compare.

It’s a rare but very cool animation… when entering water instead of just switching animations you get an in-between animation of your character diving in.

Hey All,

I wanted to ask you to join me in saying farewell and wishing Jonathan “Chap” Sharp the best in his new adventures. After eight years of life in Tyria, Chap has decided it is time to pursue some new dreams with his many talents. Chap has been a driving force on our team, in the community and part of our family at ArenaNet and he will be sorely missed. I have worked side by side with Chap for many years now. He is like a brother to me and as much as I know how deeply he cares about GW2 I’m happy that he is taking this opportunity to take on new challenges.

Hugh Norfolk will be filling Chap’s role on the PvP team. Many of you already know Hugh from his involvement in the community, on Ready Up and in the game. As we say good bye to Chap, please also join me in extending a warm welcome to Hugh. He’s got some big shoes to fill but Hugh is full of fire and ready to roll so I know he is up for it.

Good Luck Chap!
John

Hey all.

I’m sad to say that I’ll be leaving ArenaNet after 8 years with the company, and it’s been an amazing ride!

I’ve chatted with many of you on vent, we’ve debated on State of the game, we’ve tossed ideas back and forth on the forums, and I’ve met many of you in person at various cons!

It has been my privilege, pleasure and honor to work with such a passionate and intelligent group of fans. You guys have always kept me honest, you’ve pushed me to better myself, and your ideas have helped to create GW2’s success – we couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you for your love, passion and communication.

I will always look back on my time here with love and gratitude, and much of that is owed to you, our wonderful fans.

Why do we get lame temporary topics that will be deleted or closed on the forums? Instead of wasting everybodies time, people should check, if a topic already exists, for example the CDI on guild halls, raids, gvg, that would be dope.

All forum traffic, including login goes through 128 bit encryption. If you are accessing from a device that is already compromised, you can also expect any accounts accessed from that device to be compromised as well (such as email).

If you can’t keep your devices secure, an additional password for these forums is not going to help. Just the fact that you do not log into a game does not prevent a malicious entity from using your email address and email access to hijack your account without even needing your password.

[Suggestion] QoL- Search feature for Dyes in Wardrobe

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Donari.5237

Donari.5237

That would be most handy, indeed, though one could get even smoother searching if there was just an alpha-sort option beyond hue or rarity. If you know the name of the dye you’re looking for, why move your hands from your mouse to type if you can just quickly scroll down the list to it or, if it’s in rows as current sortings are, move your mouse to the general area and then focus in on the one you want?

It feels to me like an easier implementation as it’s just another order for the boxes and is part of the current dye sort mechanic, as opposed to implementing a new interface in that section. Ideally we’d have both options, of course.

OK…apparently this is now Devata’s Thread, and I do not fit in with his expectations of contribution.

Chris and Jon, this was a good thread with many good point-counter-point ideas and discussions, but since 1 person has now decided to deride any suggestions, not only mine, that are not in line with what they think should be done, I will no longer add input to this thread.

Good Luck, and I hope more constructive things like this can take place.

Don’t give up. If I can ignore Jon, then surely you can ignore Devata. But if we fall silent, then the bad ideas win by default.

I agree with the OP that this is a concern.

Thus the OP should NOT log in from a public computer he does not trust.

This is not an issue of GW2 security but of that public computer.

Anet has linked the forum with the in-game account by design and the OPs desire to access the forum from an potentially compromised computer is not a legit reason to change it.

When you do the Personal Story and join an Order, you get to pick one of three sub races to investigate. Once you’ve done that and gotten that sub race to sign on with the Pact, they show up in your home instance. You can get fountain quaggans, lawn hyleks, or alley skritt in the Salma District.

Humans who join the circus get some street performers as well.

So Chris has been great to us here on the forums and I thought a good way to thank him would be to start grass roots push to do something nice for him.

I was thinking asking if Anet would put a memorial to his loyal Golden Retriever in game. Maybe even a drakehound statue with his dog’s name on it. I think most of us on here have lost a pet and can relate to how rough it is. Maybe something like this would help.

Raids are coming to GW2!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: hybrid.5027

hybrid.5027

Couple of points…

1. The combat system in this game is amazing. It is the sign of an extremely uncreative person if he believes that challenging boss fights for 10+ players is impossible to design with the current system. A trinity system is not required whatsoever to have bosses with complex mechanics. If you think it is not possible to design such encounters, kindly excuse yourself from the conversation.

2. You don’t need gear treadmills. In SWTOR you achieve a special wearable title if you complete the raid within a particular time frame after it launches. The raids are tuned to be challenging content that take 1 hour for a good, experienced group to accomplish if they don’t wipe. Guilds that manage to complete the raid in an hour during a specific window of time also get a special title. Prestigious, skillbased special titles are enough of a reward. If they want to implement unique skins (but not stats!) that can only gotten through the raid, that would be fine too. PvP already has unique skins that only the top 0.1% will ever get, and people seem to have gotten over that.

3. People need to stop complaining about content they don’t like. Saying “I don’t want raiding in gw2” is a tremendously myopic view. Just because content doesn’t appeal to you in no way means it shouldn’t be in the game. I don’t care about organized WvW, and I am not a top tier tPvP player, but if new modes and features and content was announced for them I wouldnt begrudge it to them. Any new, quality content is good for the game. Saying you don’t want the devs to work on particular content is just extremely selfish and it would be easier to say, “If they implemented raiding I wouldn’t participate” and then kindly excuse yourself from the rest of the conversation since it clearly doesn’t concern a topic that is relevant for you. This isn’t a zero sum game: just because dev attention is going to a particular mode that doesn’t interest you in no way diminishes the experience of whatever game mode you enjoy.

Astralporing.1957

It’s not an Uncanny Valley effect (that is a very specific term, by the way, and you are using it completely wrong). What you describe here is just GW2 clashing with your personal aestethic expectations. With over 3 million players, it is simply impossible for it to fit everyone’s tastes.

How GW2 spoiled me with (100% opinion)

EdgarMTanaka.7291

I do agree with you OP.

I realy like this game and sometimes I support it so much so I am sure I am blinded by Fanboyism :P
Just now I have after 2 years of playing starting to play less and less though… But life goes on and there are new games on the market that I have to try but as soon as the LS starts again I will play alot as usuall and that is one BIG thing with GW2 and it is that I can play it whenever I want too, I don’t have to pay for a month to play a week.

And as AxleSauce says… I can’t play other MMO’s anymore, they all feels so slow, stale and just way too ‘meh…’. When it was new I was trying ESO with my brother but for every quest I did I became tired and started asking me ‘what am I doing?’ I went from quest to quest and just followed a silly quest marker and I did the quests just so I could level up and get more skills and stuff. That is how every single MMO I have played works accept for GW2. I can’t speak for everyone else but when I Leveled my characters I never played to level up but too explore and what I realy did love was that I could explore and do whatever I wanted and I leveled up anyway, so what I am saying is that the “regular” MMO’s you more or less has to do Quests to level up as the quests is the only thing that gives you decent EXP but that is far from how GW2 works.
