For me it was VERY nostalgic.
I will say a rather big thanks to the teams that went to all this trouble, to give the original Glint’s Lair the nod that it got. Everything was faithfully reproduced as much as it could be into this instance… the enemies themselves (ok they’re modelled on icebrood, but yeah) and even using mechanics similar to the Scarlet battle with colour-coded protection auras, etc.), the music and the ambience of the instance… wow, just wow.
I even went through the entire library for an even bigger dose of nostalgia. One of the best hours I’ve spent in this game. The way they’ve FINALLY stayed true to recollections of lore, and even at the end, furthering that lore to the current instance (Tyria realtime) gets a big tip of the hat from me.
Thanks to those who made that instance worthy of visiting, especially to GW1 veterans who really appreciate the harking back to what made that game great. I got plenty of screenies to add to my collection of desktop wallpaper shuffle as well.

I’m glad that you’re enjoying Season 2. I love the nods to Guild Wars history, too!
As Colin said, this is really going to be a wonderful season. I’d use the word “epic” but that’s so overdone. Just suffice to say you want to join up.

……is something that I hope continues. I get so tired of coming on the forums and seeing nothing but complaining, even when Anet sometimes deserves it.
Here’s to Anet making an awesome patch, and hoping they keep the GW1 lore coming in healthy doses!
I am all for the Elder Dragons getting their story arc, but something I cannot wait for is setting Cantha free from dictatorship, and ending Palawa Joko’s rule in Elona. That will be some heavy doses of GW1 lore.
Have you guys genuinely never seen something come out of a CDI? Have you truly never seen changes that were outlined, discussed, and honed in the forge of the CDI system?
Xillllix — we don’t talk about what we’re working on, but by the same token, not talking doesn’t mean that something is and will be completely untouched, right? How many times has something rolled out that has really surprised players, and in a good way? “I didn’t even know they were thinking about that” comes up quite often. Or “I saw some talk about this a while back, but didn’t expect to see it in the game.” I am not saying everything is under development, but just wanting to point to the fact that lots can happen behind the scenes because that is worth noting and is backed by the historical evidence of past updates.

oh man, Silverwastes is AWESOME, I just got back into the game like what, 1-2months ago.. was catching up with all the new stuff (played at Launch, had one char logged into the magic find change boosters and 2 birthday, finding out I wish I had made alts)
just wanted to say that I love this map <3
I mean, instead of just porting around farming giant hp pools all day, or doing dry top or the many other activities (pvp is really fun, just wish we had more game modes then cap points being the only game mode)
but it’s like, soon as you enter the area it feels epic
the events feel epic
Above average mobs so you actually have to watch what you are doing as well, punishing Glass cannons that try and solo to many <3
now what am I doing here, Back to killing beasties in this new best map ever
There’s a few individuals here who are spending far too much time trying to advance their personal agendas rather than attempting to brainstorm ways to make GW2 raids fun and unique.
Chris, my suggestion would be to close this main phase of the CDI and break down your requests into much, much narrower topics. For example: Raid Boss Mechanics, Raid Rewards, Raid Progression Systems, etc.
Additionally, I’d suggest focusing conversation by shifting into specific questions faster. Leaving the floor open for anybody to contribute anything may seem helpful, but it tends to be that constraints bring out creativity.

I’m part Indonesian and although I wasn’t born there I spent enough time there to see similar headwear in popular use, especially on the sawas / rice fields. I like the hat- wish I could use it separately with other outfits / armour. It’s a pretty decent artist’s impression. So the fuss is…?
agree with you here OP. only problem i have with the map is the lack of waypoints since if you die at blue or amber you got to literally run across the entire map to get back.
At first, I thought only one waypoint is inconvenient. But now I feel its a good thing. Dying means something there. Don’t die.
Also. “out there in the wilderness”, away from the base camp, people have to work together and help each other. Which means rezzing other players.
The lack of waypoints supports the atmosphere of the map. I like it.
Greetings.
Since everyone is curious. The shiny foil candy wrapper event is now over, Prizes will be mailed out within a few days.
I was playing it for about 20 mins and tbh can’t hold it much longer. I think the map is just brilliant. The events, the whole idea to bring WvW mechanics there, the dynamics, the fights themselves (the one inside Indigo Cave is super fun), the Donate to our Cause thingy — such a neat idea. And in terms of visuals and audio the map is stunning. Landscape is beautiful and small, often hilarious, conversations all over the place at starting camp — top notch work, including voice acting. Man, i haven’t enjoyed this game so much since, probably, beta. I don’t know about story and all yet, but that map is just yeah baby!
PS. It also helps a great deal that i haven’t encountered zergs of 11323434 ppl yet, which is weird. Perhaps they lowered pop cap, or just people spread across the map so evenly now because of the mechanics.
To my knowledge, the rules are thus. You throw your conspiracy theory about how Anet is attempting to sabotage the game onto the forums. The person with the best and most plausible theory is rewarded a shiny metal hat, via an unreleased peer-to-peer trading system, in-game, by a Dev who is not a Dev but totally is a Dev.
Winner of today’s internet
I put 4 in, so obviously I’m going to be a winner
I have to say I’m quite disappointed in the WvW community being unable to run reflect rotations.
Yes, fractals of the mist are the primary challenging endgame content at the moment. There is also the living story that provides a story based endgame, with multiple instances to progress through and unique rewards.
The 2nd season of this story is about half way done, with the second half starting back up on Tuesday.
If you want hard repetitive content then fractals are what you should look at. If you want story driven content then the living story is what you should look at. Additionally there is currently a developer based discussion on raids coming to GW2 in this forum, which probably won’t be implemented for another 9 months or so, but it is something to keep in mind for the future.
I’m nearly finished with the process of making Mawdrey, and It’s been some of the most fun I’ve had in GW2. It truly felt immersive and meaningful, like an epic adventure.
The only thing that bums me out though is that I have nothing other than my memories to remind me of the journey. I genuinely enjoy scrolling over the components, looking over their pictures, and reading the little bits of lore; and yet, it saddens me that these will all disappear when I complete my Mawdrey.
Seeing as how scavenger hunts are by nature immersive, what if Anet introduced little journals, sort of like the Personal Story chapters, that detailed the process we had to go through to acquire components. I’d love to see those old thumbnail images of the components, and to be able to read the lore once again of each item.
I could see this especially being something myself and others could enjoy as new scavenger hunt items are introduced, such as precursors.
If this is a serious direction Anet plans to go with new items and immersion, then a little tab in the Hero Panel could be quite enjoyable and helpful to guide and record the experiences.
Anywho, this is just an old immersion junky’s 2 cents.
Umm, don’t read too much into this. I agree that the maize balm situation is somewhat weird…but who knows how this will develop after Halloween is over.
Besides, ambient critters serve no purpose and farming them like this doesn’t hinder anyone from completing their quests like it did in Queensdale and Frostgorge Sound.
And in the situation mentioned on reddit the guy that was disturbing their farm was intentionally stopping them from farming critters. So yeah, he was griefing and A-Net dealt with him accordingly
Guilds and raids as a CDI were prioritised by the community on these forums hence why they are the current CDI.
No reason you can’t create your own feedback/suggestion threads however
High-pace MMORPG with expanding PvE zones and amazing PvP.
That stinks. For what it’s worth, though, most Tequatl runs, in my experience, don’t have this problem, so I think your experience was more exceptional than normal.
Agreed. They should also incorporate the fact that Zhaitan is your father into the story.
It is new then. Stun would work better.
Even better, they should BOW DOWN in the glorious presence of the level up.
Makes it easier to cave their heads in afterward.

It’s because when I level up in real life, that happens.
(my shockwave is larger in real life though)
Oh god, what else is in game based on John’s real life mechanics?

Gah! Aren’t those bags a crazy-good deal? I’ve sunk sooo much time into getting them for alts. IC is right, pop in a ticket and we’ll fix a lost item for you.

So, John, you mentioned before in the past that during Halloween 2013, you guys “made the sinks too difficult to interact with”. Now that Halloween 2014 is drawing to a close, are you more satisfied with how the sinks have worked for this year?
My personal feeling as a player is “Yes”. Supply has been massively increased, while the sink costs have been lowered, leading to the impression that “grind” has been reduced to a much more manageable level. At the same time, due to the wide variety of stuff that can be bought from the vendors, there’s a much higher chance for any individual player to have something that interests them, resulting in greater participation and thus more overall use of the Halloween mats and the Trading Post (of people buying and selling said mats and goodies).
I’m just curious to know if your internal metrics are bearing my impression out.
I’m very pleased with this year’s Halloween, and I get the general impression that the players agree as well.
The Currency Exchange was updated this morning to allow players to purchase gems or gold in increments of their choosing. Because of this, I believe this thread is moot, and therefore we’ll close it.
But to address some of the other comments I believe I see here:
If you are suggesting that the exchange rate was somehow tinkered with, that question has already been addressed in this thread and specifically in this post. Such conjecture has been reviewed and found to be completely inaccurate.
If you are suggesting that all new development of every kind — from convenience items to appearance options — should be offered for free, please reconsider that opinion. Much is offered for free, but we need financial support — as any business does — in order to continue to support the game and to offer expanded content such as our Living World episodes. Imagine any business, from a grocery store to a car manufacturer, offering everything they produce in the future on a no-cost basis. It’s not possible in the real world and it’s simply not possible in game development, either, and particularly in a game that does not charge a monthly fee. Voluntary, individual support of our Gem Store is an essential element that allows us to continue to support the game and to continue to offer expanded content, feature additions, and many other things on a free basis to every player.

Soooo sorry! I asked about this and forgot to post!
Some time ago, it was noticed and reported as a “bug” that during cinematics, the “fidget” animations continued. So you’re seeing this exciting story bit about a dragon attack and, behind the scenes, your character is yawning and toeing the sand. It just didn’t fit.
So the animations were temporarily removed to be worked on and reincorporated in a way that allowed them to perform normally in the game but to stop (or maybe change) during cinematics. But getting to a place where the animations could be configured on a more fine-grained basis took more time than anticipated.
From what I understand, the team has the tools to reconfigure and re-enable the animations, but the team lead told me that naturally they’ll need to figure out when someone (or maybe more than one person) can be assigned the task. As it turns out, each animation bit needs to be reconfigured individually.
TL;dr: This change is coming, as soon as it can be scheduled and prioritized. Naturally, some matters that are higher on the priority list but this project will be scheduled as appropriate.
