We’re angry about getting rewards for doing absolutely nothing?
…what?
I love that it will take me time and money to reach the same level I’m at right now…
…said no one, ever.
The overwhelming outrage consists of a couple dozen individuals who rage against any change made to the game no matter how small.
Actually I’d wager you 100 gold that your statement, is in fact, incorrect. When the patch notes dropped talking about Ascended gear or the rumor (take your pick which dropped first) there was a mega thread created rather quickly. The overwhelming outrage wasn’t from a couple dozen individuals. The post had over 10,000 posts and I don’t remember the actual number of views. Shortly thereafter a official comment was posted stating their design reason and how Ascended gear was always intended.
Believe what you will but the end result was that they admitted they screwed the pooch in delivering the news about Ascended items. However, it is what it is and they went ahead and released what they designed originally. So yes. They said they could have delivered the news about the new gear better but it is our choice if we want to participate or not.
Just what the impact is on the community? I have no idea. I know it isn’t just a handful and I also know it is not the majority. Honestly, if falls in the middle somewhere and it probably doesn’t matter in the longer run. What I do know is that each person needs to find their tolerance on it. Me? I personally don’t like them and think it will hurt the game in the long run. Short term it is easy to ignore and fight the system. But with each new content push or new itemization it gets harder and harder to keep up with the Jones.
Legendaries are already crazy.
Ascended gear is a chore.
Dailies are now part of your everyday game play.
2 week content cycle is making it tough for casual play.
PvE != s/tPvP or WvW – player vs. player is getting left behind and out of the loop
Let us all face it. The game is no longer just a Dress Up Barbie game whereas armor and weapon textures are what make everyone unique. Stat creep is here and it is only going to widen the already present gap. Just one mans opinion on it.
To fix it is to remove it. And that isn’t going to happen. Thus to each his/her own. May we all make the right choice.

The overwhelming outrage consists of a couple dozen individuals who rage against any change made to the game no matter how small. There are several million other customers to think about, with opinions ranging from “I like the idea” to “I don’t care.” The reason why we have these changes to the game is because the majority of players do not agree with you. There are other games out there, keep looking until you find the right fit.
Your argument is literally this:
“Your obviously over exaggerated estimated on numbers is invalid because of my obviously made-up estimated majority that counters your input.”
Are you a genius troll?
Dualwield? You are concerned about dualwield? My warrior alone has over 12 different weapons and I use all of them frequently.
12.
Just my warrior.
Waht teh KITTEN!
Maybe anet should just GIVE ascended weapon for you?
Yes. This would be better.
Maybe anet should just GIVE ascended weapon for you?
Yes. Why not. I don’t want to work in a frigging game to play the actual frigging game.
why would you waste a character slot on another character of the same profession?
Correct me if I’m wrong but that GS/Maceshield combo looks suspiciously like Longbow, Sword and Warhorn…
If anything we are seing the cheesy evasion/dodge spam of thieves.
Signet of might
If you have an empty character slot and some T-stones you can get items from character creation back.
1) make a character with that item
2) buy a low level white item and transmute the two together. This will break the soulbinding so it is account bound. Sometimes it will still say soulbound but it should be account bound. If it is still truly soulbound, repeat this step (you will be able to tell as no other character can take a soulbound item out of the bank when you put it in there). Put the item in the bank.
3) have the character you want it on pick it up and then transmute it to the final item.
Right click, block.
Move on with your life.
This is another Ember Champion (Anchorage) situation. This has to stop. I had to litteraly run like hell/waypoint like hell to get all events done in time. I even skipped a lot of loot. Meanwhile some hardcore farmers stayed on the same events and semi-afk (they even bragged about it), farmed the champs.
In my opinion, those people do not deserve the succes chest. If it wasn’t for me, kinda sacraficing a lot of loot in the process, (and a few other commanders, but most other commanders were troll farmers, like 6 of them), we would not have made it in time.
Again, the wrong people (the lazy, fail happy, greedy, unfriendly, the list goes on…), get the most rewards. Wrong Anet. You are rewarding the wrong people in my opinion. Provoking a fail to an event, should have consequenses, and now it doesn’t. Can you please do a similar fix, like you did on the Ember champ farming. Thanks.
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.
Please keep brainfarts contained in a Notepad window on your computer.. :p
Commander – Jam Death [Jd]
Fissure of Woe
The hardest part is, whenever I give advice, people just accuse me of being elitist and refuse to listen.
The other day on the guardian forums I mentioned how it perplexed me that people would refuse to run wall of reflection, even in areas where that skill is incredibly useful. It does damage, protects the team, makes a light field to comb off of, and can be used in any build with no required traits to be effective. The responses I received were along the lines of:
“You don’t have a right to tell me how to play!”
“You have no respect for other playstyles!”
“I choose not to use it out of principle”
“If you don’t like how others play then you should form a static group on your own”
“If you didn’t check beforehand when forming a pug, you deserve what you get”.
“I’m not responsible for keeping you alive. Learn to dodge.”
And so on. Of course, this just infuriates me. It always has, from videogames to real life.
I often say that reasoning is dead. For reasons unknown (though I could probably write a book about my theories as to this), people have stopped bothering to be self critical, and they lack the ability to respond to criticism meaningfully. The moment you mention anything, these people put up a defensive wall and spew a torrent of generic entitlement garbage from their mouths. Their standard practice in life is to surround themselves with yes-men, and to despise anyone who doesn’t unconditionally support them. They consider all those who don’t agree with them as less than human, and the thought that there is intelligence behind any decision contrary to their own never once crosses their mind.
In this sense, society has become more bigoted than ever. This is an issue that is far larger than just videogames, since it poisons society from the cultural level to the political one. However, it continues to leak downward into everyday lives, to recreational entertainment. I assume that the mass amount of information available at our fingertips has always left us with an excuse to refuse to listen, and with a prepared response for everything already said, a refusal to reason.
So, the big question becomes this: How do you help a person who refuses to be helped and fights you all the way? The answer is simple: you don’t. Instead, you exclude these people from your group, and then you only play with people who do listen to what you say. If socially ostracizing the helpless doesn’t instruct them on the error of their ways, then at least you don’t have to put up with their nonsense anymore. When someone justifies bad decisions in life with some grand philosophical statement, I don’t want to associate with these people. I don’t want to play next to a player who plays kittenome kind of political statement. It is worse than a regular bad player, because then a regular bad player can get better.
AKA: you surround yourself with your own yes-men. Negotiation and reasoning in general requires two willing parties in order to function. Either both sides are working toward an agreement, or neither of them are. When someone calls you a doodoo head and leaves the negotiation, what are you to do? The answer: the same thing. The breakdown in reasoning is contagious, and reinforces itself over and over until the whole social contract breaks down. Doing otherwise is difficult.
And yet here I am, constantly reaching out to people who despise me for it. The last reasonable man.
I think this is a good PSA, and I do these things (mostly in-game).
What I will not do is agree that content should be brought down to the level of the players. While a little bit of elitist attitude exists in the forums no matter what, I feel that what you are describing is the response to the people that post endless whine threads on things being too hard.
Look a the obsidian sanctum, for instance. For a place that you can 1) bring more people 2) stealth 3) come back later when it’s empty 4) come back later and get a port right to top, etc. And those threads were full of these helpful tips. But those players weren’t having any of it – they threw tantrums like little children. This has been the case with Liadri, AR, Molten Facility, and every other piece of content with any challenge.
It’s a two way street, and quite frankly I don’t believe there has been a person honestly asking for help on the forums that did not receive helpful suggestions. No one has come and said, “hey, any tips on Liadri?” and not gotten them. The people receiving the responses you speak of are the ones that create whinefest threads.
Wow – walls of text!
Some people are jerks – that’s all.
For example, the jerks who come on to text-based communication mediums and say that they can’t be bothered to read all the text.
The next dragon will be defeated by completing a jumping puzzle that allows you to climb up its back, only to have Trahearne shout “You can’t do this alone. I’ll stand with you” before pushing you off the head and finishing the dragon himself by whining it to death.
There isn’t a single racial skill worthy of being on your bar. So, as others have said, make your choice based on looks.

Ember farming is exactly what GW2 needed, it promotes getting a group together to do events. What Arenanet need to do now is tweak it so that it’s more beneficial to complete the event.
Co-ordinating an event chain is way better than waypointing from champ to champ, if you removed the incentives for doing events like ember then all you are left with are waypoint farming.
I’d much rather do event chains than farming a champ rotation.
I just want to point out, we agree. The game is more fun and exciting when defeating things and working together with other players is rewarding. Champions have always been an issue in this area, and it’s why we addressed it, we’re continuing to pursue other areas in the game in upcoming releases as well.
That being said: the behavior we want is people join up together to play events, but they want to succeed those events and win them, we never want to be in a state where intentionally failing an event is more rewarding or better for players. We’re not going to take a giant hammer to champion loot, we love it and love seeing people joining together to do events. We do want to make succeeding events what the game is about. We also do want to make some events in the future even more challenging, and in return more rewarding for succeeding.
You will see changes over time to help directly encourage players to always want to try and succeed events, we don’t ever want to create conflict between players who want to progress an event chain, and those who want to fail it. It’s bad for the game and not what Gw2 is all about.
So I I don’t like PvE, does that mean I can have all the PvE achievements removed?

I love not being able to tell what your topic is by the topic line and having to open the thread to see what it’s a complaint about.
All this money made and we got nothing in return but more gem store items, awesome.
Yeah.
Except for all the content they’ve released since launch. But wait, you didn’t personally like any of that content so it doesn’t count as content, right?

Fastest selling! Great! Grats everyone. Even more interesting is that REVENUE has gone up even if sales have flattened. That shows ppl are sticking around and buying stuff.
This is great news.
I also dont get when people say the game is a ghost town thought. Sure some players have left, always happens in MMOs, but on my server (SoR) i find there to be just as many people playing now, as there was throughout September. They are in different zones now, or in WvW (which almost always has a que) but even the low to mid level zones i aways see people running around, and the Metas usually draw a pretty big crowd.
