Thanks for the great minis this year, Anet. Bought a set for a friend and me.

Many people missed out on the Fractured living story achievements because of very strange RNG. Personally I did at over 30 full fractal runs and did not encounter the Volcanic fractal which like most others is supposed to have a 1 in 5 chance of appearing. The chance of not getting a certain fractal for 30 runs in a row is (4/5)^30 = 0.01. Maybe all the players below are in the 1% like me, but either way, 2 weeks was not enough time for all players to complete this achievement even with significant time and effort spent. And so I ask:

Please bring back the Fractured achievements for at least another week!

PS: This is the first achievement category in the game that I have missed (including a full HoM, GWAMM, maxing out all repeatable living story achies, and doing all of season 1 WvW). I was unable to complete it because of RNG, and if this isn’t resolved I will no longer have a “perfect” account and will quit this game.

Agreed with OP. The decision to reward every player, old and new, with a title that directly supersedes that given to the older players doesn’t recognize customer loyalty. Perhaps it’s not too late for them to update this? Otherwise, the decision may appear to be somewhat based off of insecurity with regard to old players’ returning. I’m looking forward to participating in Wintersday this year, but a title that recognizes my participation in this Wintersday and the last would give me more incentive.

Yeah, I agree that it would have made sense to have your first title be Apprentice, then “upgrade” each year.

I guess in a few years I’ll be proudly showing off my Apprentice Toymaker title to all the newly-minted Grandmasters.

Yeah I see what you’re saying and I know what you mean, but I would imagine that if you didn’t have the game last year you would just need to wait until next year to get the Journeyman title, so you wouldn’t not be able to get, just be a year behind other people is all.

Logically, those who hadn’t completed last year’s Wintersday should had gotten Apprentice Toymaker now, while those who had should had obtained Journeyman Toymaker.

I like all of them! The lack of noses was a little disconcerting at first but the look grew on me. I think the pinecone face is cute on females and males but it only looks like it matches with the pinecone hair, I’m not sure how much you can edit the eye size but it seems like it’d be difficult to make a character that doesn’t look completely “kawaii” so unless your going for that look I guess the pinecone look isn’t for you. I think the rest are all incredible as well, I think Kristen got a perfect balance with planty-weirdness and more normal faces. The 1st female face is somewhat generic pretty but it still has that plantlike asymmetry and the 3rd face is wonderful and the glow pattern is gorgeous. The 2nd male face is very cool it has a serpentine/voldemort appearance and it’s a great menacing look for a sylvari. The final male face is great and the carved out look is really neat, familiar but still recognizably sylvari.

I really really like all the male faces.
I am not that crazy about the female faces because they remind me a bit too much of various aspects of the Sieran face.
A bit generic compared to the male versions.

This is just personal taste and I think Kirsten did a great job- I am sure I will use one of them as soon as I decide what class my next Sylvari is going to be

I LOVE the new faces. Especially the noseless ones. They help accentuate the Sylvari’s alien nature, and not just be human faces with a few bumps or thorns.

Oh darn.. a game company is actually quick about fixing some problems… the horror!!!

I’m actually really happy with two of the three male faces. I wished for some more freaky looking faces, and the one without a nose is just perfect, for me. :> (I don’t like the one with the big eyes, though. It looks too “cute” for my tastes, and a bit out of place, even if it’s quite alien-looking.)
I love the fact that they’ve added more variety for the males.

What better way to celebrate the season than by alienating your friends. =/

ANet, any reason why you don’t share the information with us? It only takes a few seconds of your time to post it on here and we’ve been asking since the first day of the release.

In the past two weeks I’ve done 7 full fractal runs and brought my personal reward level from 30 -> 36. In that time I got Jade Maw twice and Mai Trin 5 times. I never got the Molten Firestorm fractal so that I could get the 5 achievement points for it. As an achievement hunter this is troubling for me, and now with the Wintersday update, the Fractured! achievements are no longer available.

It’s not realistic to expect players to complete achievements by luck, or forcing them to beat the first 3 fractals over and over again in the hope of getting the last level they need. I’d like to see the time for Fractured! get extended to one month instead of two weeks.

I do understand why mayhem cannot be joined as a group, but bell choir and wonderland? That’s just… sad.

Pleaaaaaase make this happen.

For example: Once you made something once from the mystic forge, don’t reset the items in each slot. Make it possible to forge again using the same materials. It’s excruciating to press everything 4 times to make superior siege weapons, lodestones, and upgrading t5 mats.

There’s no need to turn players into ghost. The Wintersday’s JP was created in mind from the critique the Madtower received of player models blocking the view. So it was especially made by splitting the player base with three paths and having larger platforms so it could be done without any view blocking issues.

It should not be needed for reasons stated by Ayrilana, but even then if it was changed it would not remove any fun from the game.

The clock tower needed it, characters were grouped together on one set path and a lot of players had trouble seeing past max size Charr and Norn. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few trolls that liked to block peoples view.

You start on different paths so there’s no need to change anything. About 50% of the people doing it fail within the first 15 seconds anyhow.

why the hell would you join more guilds, if it’s for alliances then they should simply add alliance…….

My guilds:

• a 2-people guild with my partner for shared storage
• a guild with people from the clan that I played various games (including GW 1) with for 12+ years, as sort of a nostalgic contact list
• GC, for guild missions (as my other two guilds are too small)
• TTS, for Tequatl fights
• honorary membership in another guild

I’ve also been a member of, but had to leave to make room for the above guilds:

• a guild that serves as a contact list for dungeon runs during off-peak hours (I live in Europe but play on NA server)
• Arah vets
• A temporary guild that my circle of friends used to fund and share series 1 minis for the achievement

I would also like to join the following guilds, if I had any free slots:

• giant slayers
• a guild to set up tPvP (as suggested by the devs)
• and possibly a WvW guild
• another honorary membership of a clan I’ve been friends with / allied with for 12+ years. I can currently partake in their forum discussions but not guild chat.
• a guild that I know several players of really well and that I have been informally invited to and that would be awesome to join so I would have easier access to people to run fractals with.

Now I am an allrounder/generalist and a very social gamer – and you might not be, but honestly, I don’t see this as unreasonable at all. The game itself is now designed to favor either a) super big guilds that do everything or b) several, specialised guilds, such as TTS or, as suggested by a dev, guilds specifically used for tPvP matchmaking.

The limitation of 5 guilds seems arbitrary (why not three? why not eight?).

And yes, I would pay the same price for additional guild slots as I would (roughly) for bag/bank/character slots.

Toy Ventari was my first mini and I loved that I made it- I still have it on my main to this day
I want to craft the missing toy mini’s I all have my extra frames- saved them all year.
will we even be able to get more cogs?
I don’t want them to be a meta achievement.
Can’t we just have some fun stuff that is not tied to do xxx of this- meta?

I have all 5 toy minis since I bought my missing ones on in the Gem Store. Personally I don’t mind that they are coming back for others.

Those minis should be other ones this year…. Not the same ones that was in last year – disapointing. Not really a Reward or anything exicting to get if u already have them
