the sickle does go into the mystic forge
Cessellia in SE Bloodtide at the heart is a Sylvari scientist developing potions for curing the animals. You have to mix the potions precisely to get certain effects. Also the Great Jungle Wurm event spawns a head nearby and they shriek.
Is she enclosed in a cave?
No, not really, you have to go under some rocks to get to her, but the oasis is open.
Bogside camp does have an oasis and is peaceful, mostly. However, going there with a character who already completed the task heart doesn’t allow you to make the potions.
There is that sylvari “lab” in bloodtide coast with the gathering of materials and such to fight the risen. I might be wrong, but just throwing it out there.
Bogside Camp I believe it is
Precise suggests a jumping puzzle. Scientific suggests Asura.
I’m thinking http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Professor_Portmatt%27s_Lab is involved.
Or http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Hexfoundry_UnhingedI tried the Portmatt. There is nothing unusual about the rewards here
The thing about Portmatt’s Lab, however, is that if you use the “wrong” coordinates you wind up in other places. What if something was added at one of those other coordinates?
I think you’re on to something. It might be something else, but I like your idea very much.
what would you consider the noise karka make when they move, if not clink?
The same noise that crabs make. A kind of clicking/clattering noise.
that’s kind of what I’m getting at. I think the item is a karka shell, not vial of blood. Plus that is a kind of thing, I wouldn’t think that the vials of blood are actually just consumed by karka that we get by killing it. That seems like an impossible diet.

3.5-4 Story continues:
(2 days later)
Lemark sprinted down the alleyway, an endeavor likely to leave one examining refuse closer than generally preferable, but this wasn’t his first time. He slowed for a moment to glance behind him, merchants still chasing with guards closely behind them. He was surprised they hadn’t given up, they must be very sensitive about their heritage here, the item itself was a bit too everyday to inspire this kind of rage. “Two more blocks”, he thought to himself, double-checking the sealed, cylindrical case he carried. His attempted thievery had failed, for today, but he wasn’t going to lose what he had to the muddy waters of the bay.edit 5:
Lemark was in high spirits, it had been a productive week. After a series of failures his luck had turned. He stared at his own reflection in the item, such a trivial thing by itself, but with many, there was power. Zomorros knew it as well, Lemark had seen the desire in his eyes before, this was one of his favorites. The item referenced here is most likely Bottles of Elonian Wine. The keywords that were most important were of Krytan “heritage,” as Kryta was originally a settlement of Elona, and the clue about “Zommoros’s favorite” since the djinn loves the stuff. Another clue was the term “cylindrical case” that wine is often stored in.
what kind of wine can you see your reflection in?
Because what armors would they release when cantha and Elona comes out?
For Elona, I really really hope for Vabbian or Ancient, or both. I guess Sunspear armor is there too. Cantha, as much as I loved kurzick and luxon sets, I don’t think those could return without luxons and kurzicks, unless there was a historical society to keep track of it, so that really leaves Canthan armor, which isn’t bad.
Edit: Sunspear armor isn’t bad actually.
Mallyx the Unyielding, like 200 years ago or something, but still.
Am I the only one who thinks Phlunt could secretly be an inquest backer? I mean, with how the asura and inquest are, I would imagine the inquest would try to get someone into the highest position.
Ascended is in no way necessary, unless you do fractals in which case, you’re already grinding. If you don’t like fractals, why do them?
and no, exotic armor and weapons is not a grind, so you do dungeons occasionally, and sometimes you get a drop. And Tier 6 materials are not that uncommon to where crafting is a grind. When it comes to the manifesto, it’s still valid on grinding; you do not HAVE to grind for anything.
Oh, that room is actually fairly easy to get into, you just have to kill the vines near that wall to get into the room; however, all that’s in there is a chest, and 2 vet mordrem husks, 2 vet wolves, a vet thrasher, a vet healing thing that looks like thrasher(forgot name), and a large vine and 2 little one. if the gate closes behind you, have to kill the vines again.
Unless you guys are talking about the other vine wall, I still have no clue how to get beyond it, nor do I know if there’s anything in, nor a way to open, the inquest lab gate(the one near the aspect suit).
I’ll say this again, there is nothing challenging in pve, at all. The gauntlet was nice, but there were complaints about that, which is kind of goes against wanting prestigious pve armor. As it stands, I’d say the only prestigious item in the game for pve, is the fractal tonic.
and to the people who say oh ascended armor is crafted, not pve exclusive anyone can do it, you know what, the hero armor is simple pvp, anyone can do it
I’m a bit confused about this title and I would very much appreciate a simple explanation.
Currently I have soulbound 80 unique pieces of cultural armor. I decided I would go the rest of the way to get The Emperor title, so I made another character just so I could go out and buy a few sets of cultural before deleting the character. I bought a full set of Charr light T1 armor but my The Emperor achievement didn’t progress. I have never bought this armor before, so I’m wondering, do I have to be the appropriate level for the armor before it counts towards the title? For example, I was level 2 and I had bought T1 level 30 armor (which I couldn’t wear), would I have to be level 30 before it counted?
oh, the way it works is in tiers. you have to buy tier 1 2 and 3 of each race, any armor type, to get the emperor title.
As well as to progress each individual race armors. and level doesn’t matter, just the purchasing of it is enough.
Isn’t there a new one that spawns where/when the dust mite champ spawns near prosperity? Can’t remember the name but it acts sort like an imp with summons that make it invulnerable etc.
that’s not new, the dust monster has always been there, but only in t4, and it spawns regularly
I also heard there’s a colocal that spawns near where the queen does, but I have yet to see it myself
just throwing it out there, ascended armor.
I don’t understand why this keeps being thrown out here. You get ascended armor boxes as random rewards from pvp. And you can gather the materials to craft it in pvp as well. Or wvw. It is an armor set available in all game modes.
yeah, you know the rarity of those armor boxes from spvp? and from a box comes only one piece so, yeah, point is still valid. pve has more than enough features to it, pvp needs a ton of attention and the unique armor is a decent start.
I don’t think anyone is begrudging pvp having a unique only to them armor, but there is literally no good reason for pve and wvw not to have this same thing. Whether it’s rare or not, it’s still available. The pvp armor is only pvp (rightly so!) But there really ought to be an analog in wvw and pve. This should NOT be a pvp vs pve conversation. It should be a “let’s give everyone a little something to work on.” Conversation. A fractal (or some other high level pve content which Illudes me) armor set and a wvw armor set (I don’t wvw so I do not know what content is considered high skill or time consuming) would be a great solution. I don’t understand why this has turned into such a toxic conversation.
The reason is simple…PvP in gw2 is on life support, which is why anet is giving out a cash prize tourney and new shinies.. its easily the least popular mmode in this game (WvW, PvE being the others)… PvP NEEDS this kind of new rewards… PvE doesn’t… it has enough already, and 100% guaranteed they will continue to get more rewards down the road
Also, as many have stated, there is no prestigious content in PvE…It takes more skill to PvP and go against players that actual think compared to a group of brain dead zombies in PvE….You need prestigious content before you can give such prestigious rewards… which I think everyone would love to see in PvE
Hey okay, next time you’re on and I am too, let’s do some level 50 fractals
No skill and all.
yeah, let’s all roll swamp, stack on the bit of land in water or just kill bloomhunger easily, molten stacking stacking, cliffside hope you have an ele for tom and reflects, blizzard good luck staying awake, ascalon stacking. dredge, stacking, hammer stacking know to dodge when the archmage has the protection icon buff and quit ranging him for a few, grawl stacking half boss don’t stand still and have reflects. most groups run with a guardian anyways. fractals sure are hard, yup, a real challenge alright.
(edited by Moderator)
Let them rot behind their wall. The Tengu are dead to me, do you hear!
Talon would be ashamed.
Molten Alliance? Please. The Breachmaker could have knocked in their precious gate without significant effort. That ship’s presence, so close to their lands, was a gigantic threat to them – except that what she cared about was in the harbor, not the Dominion of the Winds. But given the attacks Scarlet had made prior to that point, could anyone honestly believe themselves excluded from being a potential target?
Of course, when they do ask us for help with their destroyer problem, we’ll help. Because WE’RE NOT ISOLATIONIST JERKS.
Sarcasm? Because if not, the tengu were forced out of their homelands from humans and the asurans promised a gate for them, which never got completed after they were paid. They are very distrusting of other races, for pretty good reason.
Well, the tengu are struggling to keep their lands safe from primordius minions, as they come from beneath the ground up. They’re going to need assistance at some point, but they’re not yet ready to accept it.
I gotta say I love those beetles, I hope to see more beetles, rollerbeetls, swarm of tiny beetles, flying beetles, etc.
I do think it can be hard to flip them in a group setting, especially if you don’t have aggro, but as a thief, killing them was a matter of steal+dodge to the front+ dazing shot. I’ve been trying to knock them back when they charge but no luck, I think they might be stable when doing so.
just throwing it out there, ascended armor.

I haven’t seen this mentioned yet so, ascendeds only purpose is to have infusions and agony resistance. I mean it literally takes 3 days, as you can do a 1 an 11 daily without needing any agony resistance, it’s not hard at all, and it shouldn’t take too much time to do them.
I don’t have much to say that hasn’t been said already, but Canach is hands down, my favorite NPC. Once he was captured and saw that the consortium still lost it’s dominance over refuges, I think he realized, he could have gone about that better. I hate how we don’t trust him in conversation though; I think he more than proved he’s well intentioned, but I do like how one of the dialogues is “don’t think I would be so easy to capture as before.”
That’s a very good point, I did not even think, or remember, about the npc’s not having restrictions. my bad, I got overly excited over nothing.
that took less time than I thought it would
Actually a funny little thing as in the recent trailer for the upcoming, or about to be release of part 2 of the living story thing, the fourth installment of season 2. The trailer had shown a charr in light armor chest and pants, while wearing another set for shoulders and gloves. I will search for a thread that mentioned it, I remember that’s how I found out about it.
they’re not unique animals. arctodus is a bear and I forget what pinipal counts as.
Oh also: about the Mursaat… :p
They’re still entirely evil, and we’re playing the good guys. that wouldn’t work out too well.
And on a side not to this thread, I’d like to mention this about the dwarves again. Anet has said before they don’t want dwarves and elves to be prevalent, sure they could write something to reverse it, but it’s not too likely they will.
My problem with scythes and polearms being the same is this: if they make one of the professions throw the polearm, and polearms have warscythe skins, that’s going to look really silly OR they’re going to limit who can use polearms more than I’d like. I suppose they could do scythes as polearms if they made it like, let’s just use this as a simple example, necros have an animation similar to their staff that gets that shadowy/scythe animation, and be able to use it in melee range.
edit. yeah i posted this in the wrong thread somehow.
(edited by A Massive Headache.1879)
The case for Scythes, is because they were a major weapon established in GW1, with a number of skins even reused in GW2 (such as the Destroyer Scythe)
I didn’t play GW1, to be honest, but what classes could use Scythes (Dervish aside, as they don’t exist anymore). After checking, it appears that they were Dervish exclusive, and those do not exist in GW2 as they used to be (Guards are a combination of Dervish, Paragon and Monk, I believe).
No single weapon was profession exclusive; however, dervs were the only profession with scythe mastery, so someone could run N/D or P/D or whatever/derv and still benefit from it, or have a zealous scythe for energy management without needing derv at all.
My point stands, you can’t mix professions in GW2, and even if you could, Dervish do not exist as a playable profession.
Polearms would be easier and more practical to implement for ANET.you could use scythes regardless of being a derv or not. and polearms being easier or more practical doesn’t even have a basis
How well does a scythe fit a Warrior, a Ranger or a Guardian? Not very well, to be honest. It looks like a perfect match for a Necromancer, though.
A Polearm would look splendid in the hands of any of those three professions and could be used as a Scythe by Necromancers too. Hence the practicality.
Why would it be an issue for any of them, guardians can already use the scythe staff skin, it’s fine. It’d probably be another cleaving weapon for them

I think humanoid races are more possible. Tengu, kodan or largos…
Hyleks, skritts and quaggans are animals rather than humanoids.I lol at this.
Quaggan walks like human, fight like human, and talk like human.
How can they not be humanoid?
They’re exactly like Charr, Syvari, and Asura.
They don’t look like human, but they are humanoid creatures with intelligence.I’ll add one more thing, these aniamls, vegetables, and aliens are all more intelligent and potentially more powerful than human. (Asura gate, Airship, Big guns and cannons, purify ritual, research on Orr, none of the methods that used to fight Elder Dragon is developed by human race.)
In that context he means human shaped. Quaggans are hunched over and don’t have much of a torso

Ok, for the people actualy upset with this. 1. it doesn’t make characters have bobbleheads unless YOU partake in it, so you can ignore this. 2. this was a previous thing, all they did was set it to a shorter timer and make it a gemstore item. like, we’re getting permanent content starting in july first.
There are two major issues I see with adding in a new race.
- Customizable in almost every aspect (facial features, body shape, etc.) So right off the bat, that eliminates almost every race listed; Tengu, Hylek, Skritt, etc. If Anet didn’t spend time making each one of X race dramatically different from one another, it isn’t likely to become a playable race.
- Capital cities and surrounding areas. I understand that there is some room on the map for a race to establish it’s capital, but after all that plus lore and all the other good stuff, there probably won’t be enough room to establish 1-10 zones, 10-25 zones, and so on and so forth. Unless people are fine with only having 2-3 zones to level the new race, this is probably not going to stick.

(edited by A Massive Headache.1879)
The other thing about dwarves is anet outright said, they don’t want dwarves to be to prominent, as dwarves and elves are already pretty much staples of other fantasy games, and they’re trying to be different.
Largos, complete with an underwater town.
imo largos are just awful. just ohsomysterious underwater-butterfly-people. an underwater city would be great tho.
what i wish for?
something serpent-like. Krait for example. or naga or forgotten.
Krait are an outright evil race, so they’re out. Naga would require cantha, so it’s possible, but with lack of feet, I’d still say unlikely, unless they get a tail ornament which I can’t see anet doing. Forgotten, I forget their lore, but I think that’s less likely than naga.
As for largos. lore wise it wouldn’t make sense for them to be playable, but I, and a lot of others, like their aesthetics.
Actually the Largos are friendly, they’re just rare and avoid other races whenever possible
Edit, I mean there are literally only 2 encounters of Largos we actively have to stop, one in brisbane and one in snowden drifts, and the way they set up who they are set to kill is pretty specific, so they may have actually had a reason to attack the sylvari/kodan claw.
Out of maybe 3 appearances total, two are kittenface’d assassins killing innocents. The other is Trahearne’s “associate”. The sin of being Trahearne’s anything is weight enough. =P But after that, she’s all “debt paid, gg, l8r” and was never anything interesting as a character. So.. nope on the Largos.
There are a full 10 appearances of largos. 1 is trahearns friend, and neither of them are bad npcs, but that’s a different thread. 7 of them are killing krait and risen or helping other races. and only 2 of them are jerks, which is still a maybe. They’re a friendly race
EDIT: though with how the lore for them was made, they still shouldn’t be made playable.
Also dwarves won’t be playable.
I’d buy another slot for Tengu or Skritt. How great would it be if Skritt had a racial that gave them Might stacks based on the number of adjacent players?
-20 for Largos. I haven’t seen one positive representation of them in GW2. Say no to evil waterdrow. Even the Ettins and Ogres occasionally are friendly and need help. (Ogres with “pet” racials? They’re all basically rangers anyway.)
I’d like to see Kodan, but they have no racial home at the moment, and they’re too proximal to Norn. Out of the entire wishlist, Tengu look incredibly likely.

1.) Hylek
2.) Tengu
3.) Kodan
4.) Skritt
5.) DwarvesI don’t care if they sell them as unlockable on the Gem Store, Living Story, or in an Expansion. I would just love to have access to them.
A.Net already said – Hylek and Skritt would not be playable.
Dwarves are dead (turned to stone – see EotN in GW1) – only one left alive (Ogden Stonehammer).
Maybe Kodan or Tengu but since we are going to Maguuma Jungle in LS2, I put my money on Tengu (since they already have a presence in LA and in Caledon Forest).
Kodan would be more towards going North in the Shiverpeaks, which we may eventually do. The only problem with Kodan is they all look the same to me (what a racist thing to say :-) ).
I do not want them to be unlockable in the Gem Store as they would be the same as ESO with the Imperial Race and that would be unseemly.
Just to point out, the dwarves, while still would be unplayable, they’re not dead, just dying off, ogden is the only dwarf we’ve seen, the rest are off fighting primordius
You don’t seem to get that that is not actually possible.
Once corrupted, there is no going back. This is emphasized many times. Jora was able to resist Jormag’s corruption because Jormag is unique amongst the Elder Dragons – he prefers to persuade or seduce individuals to willingly join him, and then corrupt. Not willing? He batters you down until you are willing (and then corrupts). But you can win that attempt – just like Zojja and Snaff do against the Dragonspawn in Edge of Destiny. The Sons of Svanir break this code frequently, and he and his champions do use corpses whom lack will, but it’s a frontal point that Jormag seeks to persuade rather than enslave – unlike the other Elder Dragons.
No other dragon does this. And Mordremoth certainly doesn’t show this. But again: once corrupted, there is only one solution: ancient Forgotten magic that’s only been recently discovered.
This isn’t exactly cut and dry either. There are a choice few Sons of Svanir who were indeed Sons of Svanir, who have returned from this corruption of the heart and mind.
At a certain point (icebrood status), I do suspect it is impossible (short of Forgotten magic, at least mental wise ala Glint).
But there are Sons of Svanir who have come back from what most think is an impossible returning point.
Sons of svanir aren’t corrupted at that point, they are just followers of jormag, and crazy zealots.
The new system is good, and is similar to as it was in gw1.
You are just upset because it was easier before.
This system really is nothing like gw1, that was for skills, and elite skills via capture. It was just go to bosses for the elite, or some towns for the normal skills, and that worked because there were options, and if the boss you needed wasn’t in that instance you could reroll it. This system has you going all over the place doing crap for rather important pieces of builds.
Mordy does seem to show some tendency for persuasion, or at least mentally battering his victim.
I don’t see how you can simply rule it out as out of hand when we simply don’t know. There is very little information to make a true judgement one way or the other. You can make assumptions based on how the other dragons work, but they all work differently, which throws monkey wrench in the works when it comes to assumptions.
We don’t actually have any confirmation that it was mordremoth taking over scarlet, it could have been something entirely else
snip
dragon corruption can be combined, pretty good indicator that dragon minions corruption doesn’t make it immune to further corruption. There is no magic “freeing” of the pale tree, so it either is or is not corrupted, and since sylvari are good, it’s not corrupted. The dwarves, jotun, and mursaat are ancient races around since the before the dragons were awake the last time, the dwarves have no record of there ever being sylvari before, nor does it indicate the jotun had either, because of that, it’s pretty obvious the sylvari are a new race completely, and seeing as how mordremoth is ancient as well, they’re not his minions.
I would love dredge and hylek playable, but I think it’s going to be a while. I’m still hoping tengu will be soon. My issue with playable largos is they’re supposed to be a rare and seclusive race.
But Dredge, hylek, and tengu those all would be great.
They really need to display the year threads or posts were made. Someone mentioned transmutation crystals and stones. so I’d assume this is an old as heck thread as 3 stones = 1 charge, and they’re common map completion and pvp rewards.
there really isn’t much in the way of cash grab other than exclusive armors, and the cash shop sure isn’t pay to win by any means.

No skill and all.
